ANOTHER Anti-McCain Video Spoof: "No, You Can't"
February 12, 2008 9:48 AM
Here's yet another anti-McCain spoof of the pro-Obama "Yes We Can" video, this one more directly called "No, You Can't."
Watch HERE.
This one isn't as harsh as the one we posted yesterday in the sense that it doesn't show any war victims, though it does make light of Cindy McCain's drug addiction.
(Why is it certain people preach tolerance and understanding for addicts ….unless they're Republicans?)
In any case, this video parody and the previous one are illustrative of one thing -- how Democrats will try to paint McCain's "straight talk" as a downer compared to Obama's soaring rhetoric.
The video, for instance, mocks McCain for rhetoric that's part of his relatively moderate, if not liberal, position on immigration reform.
Substance, I suppose, does not matter in the business of mockery, and that's the point -- as with how some Obama rally attendees yesterday seemed to think a possible veiled dig Obama took at McCain's age (71) was funny.

I'm not working for the Obama campaign in any way, shape or form. Don't know anyone in the campaign. The video was entertainment but I was given a pretty free reign.
And while I thought the video the video was clear enough, I also know that no two people are going to see the same film / story / whatever the same way. People bring their own filter to things. I don't mind clarifying my intent.

Jake: why don't you post a notice above your comment section that reads: "All comments are censored for your protection. If anyone says anything remotely critical of the GOP or conservatives or ABC News or says anything we don't like for any reason, we will delete it and pretend that this is an open, uncensored discussion. Feel free to bash the ominous 'Left' and all other news outlets (except FOX and right-wing blogs) in your comments, however."
You really don't care about your credibility as a "news" organization, do you?

Lee Stranahan: how utterly unprofessional of you to help in the making of that video and not be absolutely clear about what it is you were trying to get across.....if you have to EXPLAIN the view instead of letting the video speak clearly about what you-all wanted to say----well, that's a bit irresponsible, don't you think? And I am a Democrat and don't like McCain much. Just goes to show that you are working for a sleazy campaign. If you-all are going to use the "age card", you've got to know that this will come back and bite you guys in the ****....

".....how Democrats will try to McCains' "straight talk" as a downer compared to Obamas soaring rhetoric."
Ha ha ha ha ha that's FUNNY !!! Obama's speechs/debates without a teleprompter are enough to lull you to sleep, the way he stutters and rambles on incoherently........

I'm one of the filmmakers and I'd like to mention the Cindy McCain drug issue. I put that in there as a contrast to Sen. McCain's opposition to medical marijuana. I live in California, and it's a very real issue for people here when the Federal Government and the DEA are ignoring the voter's decision.
So the joke is exactly as I put it - since McCain would deny patients in pain their non addictive drug of choice, would he share some of the highly addictive (but legal) drugs his family favors?
It's not making light of drug addiction; it's making light of a hypocrite.

Form always trumps substance, Jake, especially in politics, and most especially in an election year. John McCain will no doubt be portrayed by the Dems as a crotchety, cranky, crabby, spiteful old man who steals candy from babies and kicks dogs, in much the same way they treated Bob ("Mr. Excitement") Dole in 1996.

The video was well done, especially the segue from "No You Can't" to "You Can't Know".
Also: Please delete off-topic postings. Leaving them up only encourages those posters to post their pet issue on every thread. I enjoy reading the comments of other posters, and the spam is annoying. Thanks. :-)

Ya Spock.
These Hollywood elitist types think they are pretty clever. Usually too clever by half. But there's gonna be more of this drivel, WAVES more of the drivel.
So, if you wanna win, you gotta go with HUCK. Huck's all about the love and the COMPASSION, going along with the conservatism, and he's teh GENIUNE ARTICLE.
Huck can hit back against the hateful drivel with wit, wisdom and whimsy. Libs hate that. Always have and always will.

Again whats new the libs play every dirty trick in the book! I do not know what is sadder that they do it or that people fall for it!
Obama is an empty shell, no clue of the world around him, is not tested and says nothing! People that vote for him are the most gullible people in the world, probably most of them are the ones who thought they were getting free homes!!

Well this is unfortunate..... with all the hope and unity talk that's going on out there from the Democrat Party and then they take out this mean spirited divisive ad against the Good Senator. But this type of conduct is predictable.
I believe that John McCain has served his country honorably. We thank him for his service but this is not his time. This ad is an example he cannot win the election.
If you want a man of the people who can WIN in November, you gotta go with the HUCK.
HUCK can rock. Huck can ROLL. When its your turn to throw down, Go with HUCK.
