Another Viral Obama Music Video
February 10, 2008 9:28 AM
"If you're tired of all the drama," sings Big Hit Buda, "elect Obama."
Watch it HERE.
This on top of the "Yes We Can" video.
Pretty soon, superdelegates aside, he might have a whole album.
What do you think of these things?

It's fun to watch what various grass-roots (net-roots?) supporters have to say about the candidates. Based on the number of YouTube views, others do as well. They're entertaining.
They're not where I go to find issue positions and programs of course, but sometimes we all need a break. (Some of Jake's more vociferous posters perhaps more than others.) The Obama Girl videos (including Giuliani Girl and Truman Girl) were hilarious imo. So are Jon Stewart's deadpan reports (which I find reminiscent of Pat Paulsen). There's a time and a place for everything - enjoy.

Well, this one is actually more interesting that the gag-me "Yes We Can", but I can't imagine Obama bringing it front-and-center in the general campaign (which is a moot point since Clinton is almost assured to be the nominee Obamania notwithstanding--the party elders are still grownups I should think).

I do believe If Obama Is elected our next president the American People are In for a rude awakening. He cannot achive overnight what the video is implying. He will be overwhelmed with all the mess he will inherit from the Bush Admininstration. I am not saying he cant do It over time, but get real people he will not be able to pull the troops out of Iraq within a year, that would be like Nixon's promise to get the troop's out of viet-nam if he was elected, he was, and he did and the men and women lost their lives for nothing. George Bush started this war and who even knows what commitiments he's made to that country. The people In America are expecting a lot from Obama, they act like he's the messisah. he's only a man and Is limited to what he can do without the backing of the other governmental leader's of this country. In my opinion Hillary Clinton Is a part of the governmental establishment, she wont back down and she will fight to the end for the american people..and this whole bit about people hateing Hillary Is beyond any thing I could ever imagine. "HATE" that is a powerful feeling, nothing I would want to associate myself with. I may dislike someone but hate is another feeling altogather. and the statement Shuster made about Chelsea Clinton Is a hateful mean uncalled for bunch of crapp!! One thing you do not do Is talk trash about a Mother's children. that is stepping over the line!! them are fightning word's. but anyway good luck to Obama cause It will take luck or a mericial one to accomplish what's before him should he be elected President.

I heard there was an Obama doll out. Can anyone tell me where to get it?

nice they feel so strongly. I guess some of Hillary's peeps could try the same - but it might be lame. wish the media didn't feel the need to use this as proof Mr. BO is qualified. Nothing new is in Illinois since before he got in and now that he is gone, things are just like they always were. Nice music, and nice words on TV, but that don't make a president.
viral video? I mean viral is right maybe. Where's the beef, cause it ain't in this burger, that's for sure.

On one hand, I feel like all these music videos springing up give his rivals' supporters more ammunition to throw against him by saying he's relying on things like that to gain votes instead of winning over people with issues. This is a poor argument because Obama isn't actually behind any of these music videos, and it therefore isn't his fault that they are being circulated. Nevertheless, if there's any backlash, it's usually unfairly slammed at his campaign rather than the people who made the videos.
On the other hand, I think it's wonderful that Barack Obama has managed to actually touch people's lives and inspire them enough to invest such an effort voluntarily, when Clinton can barely motivate her supporters to caucus effectively for her. It's important to keep in mind that irregardless of our opinions as to whether or not music videos deserve a role in political campaigns, the people who make these videos are Americans just like us, and they, too, deserve the right to have their voices heard. Before anyone jumps down the throat of these musicians with a cause, it should be remembered that supporters of any other candidate would be free to make their own too, if they actually felt strongly enough about it.
I think the startling difference between (a good number, though obviously not ALL of) supporters of both candidates is best illustrated in this story:
