Bad Day at Hanging Rock
February 23, 2008 10:53 AM
Texas state Rep. Aaron Pena, the director of outreach for the Clinton campaign in the Rio Grande Valley, was spotted dancing on the dais at an Obama rally.
"I will maintain my commitment," the lawmaker told the Rio Grande Guardian. "But it appears to be increasingly evident who's going to win."
Maybe I'm wrong, but it's likely not a good omen if your supporters are spotted rocking out at a rally for your opponent.
The Washington Post has some further depressing news for the junior senator from New York.
Or rather, depressing news about people anticipating depressing news.
"Some supporters said they had discussed how to raise with Clinton the subject of withdrawing from the race should she fail to win decisively on March 4. One option was to wait a day or two and then dispatch emissaries to former president Clinton to urge him to make the case."
Adds someone in the know: "She knows where things are going. It's pretty clear she has a big decision. But it's daunting. It's still hard to accept."
Ruh-roh.
What do you think? Are rumors of her demise premature?

To all those discussing the fact that Obama does not write his own speeches. The majority of the politicians do not write their own speeches, they have aides who do that for them. Of course they may add a line or two of their own but for the most part they have professional writers do that. Do you really think Clinton writes her own speeches? She is just bitter because his speeches are better written and are inspiring while all her writers can do is think of irrelevant mud slinging immature writing tactics that do nothing but make her look and sound like a hurt middle school girl who didn't get picked for the volleyball squad. Grow up Clinton and Wake Up America. Stop wasting my time and corporate money on a losing battle!

vi, please don't speak for African Americans, the majority understand why he couldn't be there (Black Union Address). As far as Hillary is concerned she only showed up to try and make amends and try and win back the black vote when previously she had offhandedly dismissed the black vote with her marginalization and insensitive remarks about Dr. King and let's not forget Bill's insensitive inuendos
Also vi read Hillary's book and she thought NAFTA was a great if not one of the greatest accoimplishment of her husband's presidency. yes I paraphrased but I at least did my homework, you should try it.

What do you think? Are rumors of her demise premature?
Jake, to answer your question, instead of rant incoherently like many of the commenters -- of COURSE it's not premature. The easiest way to determine this is to flip the script: Would people be saying it was "premature" if HILLARY had won the last 11 races in a row??? (counting the Democrats abroad one, yes it's 11)
Of course not! They'd be ridiculing Obama for still being in the race at this point! Baying for his blood, accusing him of "destroying" the Democratic party, all kinds of crap.
Clinton needs to step aside immediately after March 4th, unless she has blowouts over Obama in every race. Be gracious and smart, and unite the party, Hillary.

Ughhh. It's disheartening to see so many angry, biased and uneducated people who call themselves "Americans". Please, it's time for this country to grow up and move forward. Give the young, intelligent and very forward thinking Senator, Barack Obama, a chance to take this country in a positive direction. I could care less what his middle name is. What's yours? Do you judge everyone by their name? What's in a name....you guys are off the charts crazy. Grow up and act civilized. Set good examples for your children, neighbors and the rest of the world. We all should be thinking about how to make the world a better place.

HILLARY CLINTON’S 35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE BS: The first 15 years she spent in “public service” she worked for the biggest law firm in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her goal then: make as much money as possible, ethics be damned. Almost forgot her stint working in Goldwater’s campaign for president. Then there was White Water, Travelgate Vincent Foster, et al. Then there was her job working at Wal-Mart where she did an outstanding job of fighting off the workers attempts to organize a union for collective bargaining. And what a disaster her health plan was. When she took the DC Bar exam she failed twice. By then, she was fighting against the “Vast right-wing conspiracy.” Stole items from the White House and later gave them back - only because she was caught. The most extensive experience this woman has is serving tea to foreign dignitaries. Claimed to be a New Yorker so she could run for the senate. She has a reputation of being the queen of earmarks and recently secured a 1.5 million dollar earmark awarded to a Harlem minister who endorsed her candidacy for President. She also has accepted more corporate donations than any of the Republican candidates.
Voted to authorize Iraq war; voted to give Bush power to go to war against Iran and praised NAFTA. AND: Do you want an ex-con for a Co-President?

Mariann pepitone.....American is a great country with great people. There are great people in various other countries. And like in the USA there are those completely uneducated once that are bad not only because they are uneducated but REFUSE to be enlighten or take any form of learning and in most cases not travelled at all that fill their bellies with bad blood and stuff themeselves out of laziness with ill-will towarda TRUTH and have given themselevs to evil.

I live in Texas and like most Dems., have little to no repsect for Aaron Pena. He's an openly self-serving politician who continues to publicly support heavy-handed Repub. House Speaker Tom Craddick. But he's unlikely to lose his current primary fight because he unfortunately lives in a historically politically corrupt district.
Here are just a few of Pena's "accomplishments":
-- Rented an apt. for a fifteen year old
-- Voted to cut funding for Texas' CHIP program
-- Voted against cancer cure research fund (later approved by voters statewide)
-- Co authored two bills to increase his pension
-- Voted to give teachers a pathetic $1.25 a day raise
-- Didn't cast a vote regarding banning gays and lesbians as foster parents (even conservative Senate Repubs. opposed)
-- Didn't cast a vote for the teacher fingerprint bill to protect kids
-- Was absent 16 times on votes regarding the voter id bill

I hate to break it to you, Maria, but the democrat party was taken over by IDIOTS in the 60's.

Obama is the best candidate. And he will inspire talented young Americans to work for the government, for the first time since Kennedy.
Posted by: michael | Feb 24, 2008 7:39:18 PM
onyekaba: Obama doesn't know how to do his homework because he don't have the brains to form his speeches. He left his brains at the college and forgot to take them back. So Patrick is his brains now, makes his decisions and gives him his full speeches and the public thinks he has a speech writer. No one should us someone elses speeches that is not even their husband but a governor of another state not even Illinois. Patrick wants to be the VP and if Obama is elected you will see a mess in country like you never seen before and kick yourself in the butt for voting him in. What are you going to say then. Don't say anything, just sit down and drink until your drunk and if that don't work take some of Obama's drugs.
Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Feb 24, 2008 4:37:42 PM
Judy: What intergrity does Obama have. He is as stupid as they come. Cannot even form his own speeches without Patrick, cannot make decisions on his own without Patrick. Get a life and face realtiy. What we have running for president is a former salesman, a liar, a phony, unitelligent candidate that has people like you eating up his garbage that he shoots out of his mouth. That's why you and most of this generation of boozers and druggers like Obama are coming out to vote for him. He is in the same league as they are. Wild and Wooley in this prime. What else can we find out about him that hidden behind the door. I know he did not earn enough money selling so Rezko gave him $400,000, $300,000 of that to buy his house, and $100,000 he did not return yet. Why didn't he visit him in prison? Hillary doesn't have to have someone buy property for her because she is not a pauper's millionaire with only 1.5 million to her name. They have between 40 to 50 million dollars which they earned not given to them by a crook.

Worku: Lets hope the Clinton supporters turn them cheek to support McCain if Clinton bows out and give the presidency to John McCain. Do we want dumb inexperienced former salesman that has no intelligence to form his own speeches in the white house? What is the matter with the white people today. If black people gave Obama their votes the whites should support Hillary. I would never vote for a candidate that is l/2 black Kenyan whose father was not a citizen of America only his mother was. Plus he was raised between Hawaii, Indonesia and Kenya and has a terrible Kenyan accent. I want a president without another countries accent, a person that a black person that was born and raised in this country and not half of another country especially Kenya and South Aftica. I would be a fool to vote for someone like that. This is America and I don't want to belittle America. Wake up. If you don't respect America then move on out.
Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Feb 24, 2008 4:18:22 PM
Follitics: If you so ashamed of America then move to Kenya where Obama came from and should have stayed. I am proud to be an America and would never make a statement like Michelle Obama. She should be ashamed of herself. If she wants to be first lade she better get rid of those clothes she wears and fix that hear or stay in the kitchen and wash dishes.

All this clown is doing is job hunting, cause here in where it lies: loyalty.
No longer is the Boomer gerneration of loyal worker here.
Before trust and loyalty where before money.
People treat jobs like relationships:disposable
Hillary should kick him to the curb. Who want someone they can not trust working for them.
Hillary may not be the president you want, but Obama is worse.
He is fake, like telling people he will assist in lowing crimes for pot smoking, yet his states did not even approve medical pot so he is full of it.
Also his comment about ending welfare, "give us your hungry" we come along way, we where a nation to assist the poor, now it is all about money.
A communist, a republican wolf is democrate sheep clothing.
The overwelming votes are from republicans, they will do anything to mess up Hillary, after all look what they did to Gore. They stole the american vote, and don't think for a moment it wont happen again.
All that is going to happen if Obama is nominated is Mc Cain will win
Cause that is what the Republican want so they git Obama the nominations and then vote for Mc Cain...
They where able to take away your vote and got away with it, so now just so you think they are not doing it again with the fake electronic republicans machines, your fooling yourselfs.
Just wait when Mc Cain wins by a landslide. And the same Junk for more years of lies and killing our military men and women and stealing our tax money and giving to crooks.
It is said you want to know the truth follow the money trail.
Obama is no differnt he took money from the oil Company;s and you know what that means who run oil company;s republicans that's who.
Like the pepsi commercials
Wake up America
Hope you applied to mail in your vote, that is the only way you can have some faith that it is a true count.

It looked like the "Shame on You Barack Obama" scream by Hillary Clinton was a well rehearsed thing before she came to the stage in Ohio. There were also reports that she reacted to the two Obama leaflets after a woman in the audience handed her. How do we know that the woman in the audience is not a "planted" supporter of the New York senator.
Hillary is clearly desperate to get a win somewhere after 11 straight losses to Obama. She tried many things to win a primary after Super Tuesday. Nothing worked to her favor and now she is hoping that looking angry and attacking Obama would work this time. Well, don't bet on it.
I don't think the Clintons will get a third term to the White House this time around. It would be better for the Democratic Party if Hillary bows out gracefully and let's deal with the Republicans behind Obama.

why is hillary whining?she got a dose of her medicine which is nothing compared to she had been throwing at him all this while and in his case all he threw at her is raw truth!next time madam if you want to get yourself involved in this arsenal throwing business do your homework well and you would see the effect it can cause at the one you had it thrown at.Obama did his homework well and look at its result;turning you before your supporters and the media into a ranting circus monkey!

If you'd like to support a candidate for presidency that cant even handle losing a few primaries without breaking down and crying (and losing her cool in the process) go right ahead.. Personally I'm looking for a candidate that is going to bring America back together. Clinton isnt that person - I think she's a better candidate for the country when we are not in such divisive times.
We need change first and perfection of the new direction second. Hillary is a very smart woman but she's not going to lead us into a new era.
This is why even though I'm a conservative, veteran and a republican, I support Obama for president. Our country needs to unify again and I feel like he's the man to do it.

That was so funny! An Obama supporter couldn't even name ONE accomplishment on national television! How ignorant is that! That totally sums it up. People want change, but their looking for a magic wand to be waved over America so all of our troubles will some how just disappear. How pathetic!
Every Democrat that I know who voted for Hillary (I live in Cali) has said they will not vote for the Islamic friendly Obama in the election...and that for the first time in their life, they will vote for a Republican if necessary. We would rather have a seasoned war hero in the office of president, as opposed to a fascist, cultish, racist leader.
NOBAMA...NOBAMA...NOBAMA!

What's worse a Clinton support who attends an Obama rally or an Obama support who can't state one (just one!) accomplishment? Yah, I thought so. Go Nader!!!!!!!!!
