Clinton's New Anti-Obama Mailer

February 17, 2008 2:08 PM

"Barack Obama, Which of These People Don't Deserve Health Care?" asks a new campaign mailer in Wisconsin for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, with a picture of seven voters -- a diverse group, as if Benetton also made clothes for retirees.

You can read the mailer HERE.

"Barack Obama's Health Care Plan Leaves 15 Million Americans Without Coverage," says the second page. Then, ominously: "Will It Be You?"

The mailer says "Obama's Plan Says 'No We Can't'" ... and also accuses the plan of "wast(ing) billions, costing taxpayers $1700 more per newly covered person," accuses Obama of having "launched 'Harry and Louise' type attacks on Hillary's plan ... using Republican and insurance company talking points..."

And also, comes the obligatory critical quote from New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, a strong critic of Obama, who accused Obama in one column of "unscrupulous demagoguery." Another side of the mailer provides more of the Krugman quote.

We will provide a more thorough fact check of the mailer in a bit ...

On first blush, the main charge seems misleading, since what leaves people uninsured under Obama's plan is the lack of a mandate requiring them to sign up for health insurance with the threat of a penalty. So it's the people themselves who will decided if they're left out -- not Obama.

But more later...

UPDATE: We took a more thorough look at the mailer HERE.

I chosse not to be dumb by this political figures.

Hilary stated that the ealier states she lost were not important, she has not been able to disprove the fact she voted for the Iraqi war, she has not disclosed her income statement, her character and demeanor has been selfish, she has cried to woo votes, there is a circulating financial scaldal with Ron Paul's issue. Her voice for health care are empty because she had 8 years to move the health care plan and has consistently failed, now pulling attack ads against hope and inspiration, firing her campaign manager and deputy, has not been able to push off media issues about her contradictory stands. We decide who is the best candidate, not her. History shows intimidation from this campaign and this family. If this woman has soft pedaled and shown remorse, I would have voted for her, someone like this IS NOT GOOD for the White House.

THERE IS NO CHANGES WITH OBAMA EXCEPT THE MEDIAS HELP AT HIDING HIS RECORD OF SUPPORTING THE WAR AND BUSH. WHAT OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE AFRAID TO REALIZE. Obamas record shows he supports the war, voted twice in 2006 against bringing America's troops back home. He voted for war appropriations giving our money to Halliburton and Blackwater. His latest bit of posturing S 433 allows the Bush Administration to suspend any troop withdrawal!!!!if not suspended, still keeps the troops in Iraq for a long time to come? Obama when faced with tough choices always gave in to pressure from the Bush administration or corporate lobbyists. Such as Obama voted for Bush's energy bill, sending more than $13 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to oil, coal, and nuclear companies. Obama voted with Republicans to allow credit card companies to raise interest rates over 30 percent, INCREASING STUDENT LOANS RATES AND FEES increasing hardship for families. Obama voted for one of Bush's top priorities - expanding Nafta to South America - even as President Bush obstructed all the top Democratic priorities. Obama voted with Bush to make it harder for ordinary people to hold big corporations accountable when they do things like sell toxic toys, poisonous pet food, or just plain rip you off. Obama was the Senate's biggest Democratic advocate of subsidies for liquid coal, even though liquid coal produces twice the global warming pollution of the crude oil it's meant to replace and voted for increased subsidies, albeit with conditions.Obama, a Hamiltonian believer in free trade and supporters of globalization has lent his support to the "Hamilton Project formed by corporate-neoliberal Citigroup chair Robert Rubin and other 'Wall Street Democrats' to counter populist rebellion against corporate tendencies within the Democratic Party. Obama provided assistance to pro-war candidates (such as Joe Lieberman). Obama voted for "business-friendly 'tort reform' bill that rolls back working peoples' ability to obtain reasonable redress and compensation...from corporations!!! Obama considers single payer universal health care too socialist and has stated that he prefers voluntary solutions. **He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. Abortion opponents see Obama's vote on medical care for aborted fetuses as a refusal to protect the helpless. Some have even accused him of supporting infanticide. He supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use banned handguns to defend against intruders in their homes. And the list of sensitive topics goes on. With only a slim, two-year record in the U.S. Senate, Obama doesn't have many controversial congressional votes which political opponents can frame into attack ads. But his eight years as an Illinois state senator are sprinkled with potentially explosive land mines, such as his abortion and gun control votes. recent land purchase from a political supporter who is facing charges in an unrelated kickback scheme involving investment firms seeking state business. Obama has no substance. He has provided no solutions.

How can you be independent minded and be a cult member at the same time?

Obama is selling his donors lists as I am typing. He needs the money for court cases and to run all those lies about Hillary. No rest for the non deserving.

What it comes down to Hill-lair-y negative attacks, makes us annoyed most of first time votes and independent minded. If she gets nomination most of us will vote Republican. I am 100% sure that I DO NOT want to see the 90’s gridlock and partisan politics, so I will vote for McCain is Hill-lair-y.

I'd sooner vote for John McCain than Hillary Clinton. Atleast at 72, he will probably be a one term president.

(Obama is the right person for American at this moment of America problem. if American vote for race this time and chose Hillary. American international respect and reputation is in crisis.)

Obama pulled the race card after NH and beat the Clinton's over the head with it. He should be throw out of the race and the party for that. Obama is trying to split the DEM party into. Obama, his staff and people like J. Jackson Jr. are calling super delegates and telling them if they don't vote for Obama they will be keeping a a fellow black person down. That is race baiting. Research it online. Obama makes me sick with his lies and using race to try to get into the WH. If he gets in this way then he stole the WH. And I am not the only person who is saying this. He will be not only a cousin to Bush (and Cheney) but be remembered for stealing the WH just the same.

If Obama were to get in the world would laugh at us. The Americans let another liar in chief take the WH. Again.

And Obama would not be the right person if he was the last person on earth.

From what I hear Rove is working behind the scenes for Obama. The race baiting Obama has done has Rove all over it.

Your right about the Obama flyer. His lies never got any attention in the media. God forbid if the truth came out about Obama. He leaves 15 million out in his insurance plan and he calls that real coverage. Give me a break. He is just passing the cost along to all of us. Like we are paying now.

Everyone out there that loves Obama so much and pays through the roof for your health insurance plan why do you think that is? It is because of people like Obama would don't care if people pay their own way in life. We pay now for everyone who doesn't have insurance. That would for nearly 50 million people. Do you Obama people understand what you are doing by voting this guy in. Obama is the status quo. He will change nothing. It will be the same as now. Makes me ill to think about it.

I commend Clinton for taking it to Obama. By and large, Obama has been the most deceitful of the two in the race; he uses talking points borrowed from past politicians; he uses mass-controlling psychology without substance; then when does talk about the issues, he has to read from a paper because he's in unfamiliary territory. He stole her economic plan to create five million green jobs. His policys are crafting to be try to appeal to as many groups as possible to win the election, just like giving out drivers licenses to illegal aliens in an attempt to win the lation vote. Then when in front on black crowds he says "our time has come," in order to send a message to them about their time to have a black president for them. This man is the biggest phony to run a presidential campaign in a long time.

If Obama becomes the nominee, I will not vote in the election, plain and simple. I fear giving such authority to such an unknown variable. And McCain is downright dangerous to our country.

Preaching hope, inspiration, change, no substance, no specifics, no media challenge, and media fawning, Obama is instructive of how demagogues rise to power to inflict horrors on humanity.

It is a moral right for every American to have health coverage. Fifteen million people without health coverage, by choice or otherwise, is more of the same status quo - there is no real change in having no health coverage. Universal health coverage from Hillary Clinton's specific solution to our healthcare crisis is REAL CHANGE.

I LOVE HOW THE OBAMA CULT COMES OUT ON THESE BLOGS. UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE MEANS EVERYONE! YOU ARE VERY DUMB! YOU ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT BUY HIS PLAGERISED SPEECHES ON CHANGE VS IM BRAINWASHED AND NEED HOPE TO SURVIVE. UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE MEANS EVERYONE MUST HAVE HEALTHCARE, YOU MUST HAVE CAR INSURANCE YOU MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN WELL BEING! I AM TIRED OF PAYING FOR SOME IDIOT THAT HAS NO HEALTH INSURANCE AND GETS ON HIS DIRT BIKE BREAKS HIS NECK AND 6 MONTHS LATER WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLERS OF HEALTH CARE COST RAISES MY PRICES FOR A DAMN ASPERIN! VOTE FOR SUBSTANCE AND VOTE FOR DETAILS PEOPLE OF THE COOL AID CLAN!WHO WOULD YOU FEE CONFIDENT WITH TO DO HEART SURGERY ON YOUR KID? OBAMA, SPEECH TALKER OR HILLARY CLINTON A DETAILED SPECIFIC PERSON. JUST ASKING.

Why would anyone believe Hillary. She even sells out her supporters. She sold her supporter's addresses and information to a bulk mailer for a cheap 8,000. What a phoney behind sheeps clothing.

Posted by: morrisen | Feb 18, 2008 4:07:25 AM

HC turns away many, just can not believe nor trust her, especially, since she campaigned in Florida, while the other opponents kept their word.

Dear Hillary,

You cram insurance down the throats of every American while offering no counterpart to regulating an industry that has grown so rich and powerful that they build monumnets to themselves while their customers need lawyers to get services. It is as UNAMERICAN as it comes. You are a corporate democrat disguised as John Edwards. I want freedom. I want to decide whether or not to buy insurance and I want reasonable choices offered and I want to take it with me wherever I go and I want lower prices. PS - I'll go to jail before you garnish my wages over this, girlfriend. It's called civil disobedience. (Actually, I know her plan has zero chance of being passed so all this was to prove a point so those of you who were smitten with her plan need to ask her how she's going to get passed).

"unscrupulous demagoguery."

Did Hillary forget who her target demographic is? What a waste of money to try to sell that to her demographic. And if she's trying to sell that to the educated folks, who actually do read the fact checks, it's just silly.

Hillary Clinton's plan is not good at all, This morning I received a copy of the flyers her campaign sent out to people in wisconsin, I went to Senator's Obama's campaign web site and read his plan for health care and he has the best health care for all americans unlike hillary clinton's plan which wont cover all americans, hillary clinton is turning to lies and deceptive ads to sway voters, the american people want change and not the same lies and destortion which hillary clinton has turned to

I'm tired of the Democrats stealing my money and raising my taxes so they can buy votes and get elected. They want everybody to feel as if they are victims. No more Democrats for me...ever!
