Coulter: I Will Vote for Hillary Over McCain

February 01, 2008 10:38 AM

In case you missed it, on Hannity & Colmes last night, controversial pundit Ann Coulter -- who supports Mitt Romney for president -- said she would back Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, over Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

"She's more conservative that he is," she said. "She will be stronger on the war on terrorism...I will campaign for her if it's McCain."

Watch it HERE.

There might be a few issues where McCain and Clinton hold the same position -- campaign finance reform, immigration reform, global warming, the patients' bill of rights.

And for that reason, many conservatives loathe McCain -- as we covered last night on World News. (Read it HERE, watch it HERE.)

Coulter says McCain has been more liberal than Clinton on the interrogation of detainees at Guantanamo because he has made an issue of it and she's hasn't, really. (Of course, he was tortured as a prisoner of war.)

Factually, it's a ludicrous claim. On judges, abortion, same sex marriage, taxes, health care, the war in Iraq, and on and on…he's demonstrably more conservative.

Clinton's 2006 vote ratings from liberal groups: Americans for Democratic Action - 95%; ACLU - 83%; League of Conservation Voters - 71%.

Her 2006 ratings from conservative groups: National Taxpayers Union - 17%; Americans Conservative Union - 6%; Club for Growth - 8%; Family Research Council - 0%.

McCain's liberal group ratings: ADA - 15%; ACLU - 33%; LCV - 29%.

And conservative group: NTU - 88%; ACU - 65%; CFG - 76%; FRC - 62%.

It's silliness to pretend otherwise.

But it does get at how much blind rage against McCain drives some of these conservative commentators.

Democrat here and if the DNC doesn't get it // I'll vote for McCain over Obama

Posted by: JDC | May 8, 2008 3:14:40 PM

I have voted for the democrat is every election since 1976 but if Obama wins the the Democratic nomination I will for the first time switch over to the Republican side. I beleive Hillary is better suited to keep America safe and handle the big problems we are facing around the world. If she is not the Democratic candidate then I will have no choice but to vote for McCain. She is being held to a much higher standard than Obama because she is a woman. If Obama was a woman he would not have gotten nearly as far as he has. Hillary is like Margaret Thatcher an Iron Lady.
She has to be and she would be tough on the World Leaders.

I think Hillary has a lot to think about with that Bill... Has anyone seen this video about Bill?

a Mc Cain/Romney ticket will beat the Democrats.

The Democrats do not care if they destroy America

I have a question for Conservatives who claim that there is something honorable about not voting for McCain. Who spend more of their time beating down a fellow Republican, while ignoring the extreme liberal forces that are about to kick their butts completely out of every branch of government.

What is honorable about sitting on your butt at home, refusing to vote – allowing all branches of government to be swarmed by RABIDLY liberal opponents who have vowed to undo everything conservatives have fought to achieve over the past decade?

I hear endless whining and griping from Conservatives – while the extreme liberals, who are bent on reversing every conservative principal – out number us at the polls nearly two to one. Is that principal or is that do conservatives just have a death wish to see our country turn to the extreme left (who has no problem getting their hind ends to the polls)..

What is so conservative about beating down the (soon to be) nominee who supports our troops, instead of the extreme liberals who insult our troops and degrade them every single day in front of the entire world?

By punishing John McCain for not being conservative enough – you are really punishing all conservatives by making absolutely sure they will be governed by radical, rabid liberalism for the next 4 to 8 years.

By stomping your feet and refusing to help, you in turn assure that the laws of the land will have few conservatives in a position of power to stop a runaway liberal train that will further infiltrate our school, explode your tax burden and socialize every part of your life it can.

If you must be dragged to the polls, then don’t bother complaining when our courts are swarmed by the liberals who will put judges in power.

Please think twice before punishing the rest of us conservatives, who may not love McCain, but are smart enough to realize the living nightmare that will ensue, if things continue on the path they are going.

I see nothing conservative about being so focused on the anthill, you completely ignore the volcano that’s about to wipe your entire cause out. That is not principal. That’s political suicide. Will conservatives ever learn?.

Voting for a conservative candidate will KILL our economy. I don't know how you can be pro-economy and pro-war at the same time. Wars have sucked money from our coffers and if it weren't for this war in Iraq, we could have had over a trillion dollars in energy infrastructure improvements. It's either economy or war -- make your choice.

I can only ask that this idea be seen for what it is, curious scientific speculation and not a conspiracy theorist's delusional concepts. The reality is that the political process is a very shady business and that it is necessary to explore every possibility to any situation regardless of how off the wall it might be.

Right now the Republican Party is fractured because of the conservative talk show hosts; Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, etc., having broadcasted their views that if John McCain wins their party’s nomination they would boycott the Presidential election or vote for Hillary Clinton.

From my understanding the statements weren’t that they would vote for Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama, just Clinton. By just mentioning specifically one candidate, Clinton, and not both Clinton or Obama as possible Democratic nominees the Republican Party in effect is endorsing Clinton. If the Republican Party’s conservative base was completely against McCain as their nominee their intentions should be boycotting the Presidential election all together or voting Democratic regardless of the candidate, not just Clinton specifically. So the question is, “Why would they just mention Clinton and not both Clinton and Obama?”

Here’s why, out of the two candidates, Clinton and Obama, who would the Republicans rather face in a Presidential election? Who seems more beatable than the other? Obviously it would be Clinton. There are a lot more angles to use against Clinton in a national election for President than there are against Obama. Clinton has “Whitewater”. Clinton has her flip-flop on her vote for the Iraq War. Clinton has speculation about the sanctity of her marriage and there are many more ways to attack her.

What does Obama have? He was consistent with his ideas about the war and his vote against it lines up with his ideas, he never flip-flopped. His marriage and personal life are not too much in question and the biggest reason, he has the “black vote”. More African-Americans are voting now compared to any previous Presidential election and they’re voting for Obama.

So, considering that this election can easily be viewed as a “war”, is it possible that the Republican strategists are aware of Obama being the unbeatable candidate and is subversively trying to promote Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee by “spinning” this “fracture” in their party against McCain? Almost in a sense throwing the American public a curve ball to make Hillary appear as the guaranteed winner. They want Hillary to be the Democrat’s candidate not Obama.

As Persian Armenian women, I am voting for Sen. Clinton. me & my family voted for her 2 times & we will vote again & again. She has the brain, intelegence & experience to run this country. She will be ready to from 1st day. She will work on stem cell, she will fix the budget. Remeber President Clinton's era, he fixed the budget & left with surplus, what was wrong with that. His personal life style is not my busienss and it didn't effect me a bite. He will be an asset in White house, he was one of the smartest presidents in past 30 years that I know of (living in this county). Obama is not up to Par for this posiion yet, maybe in 12 years when he gets some experience. As for as republicans, I respect John McCain as war hero, but I can not see all the hard tax payers money get wasted in Iraq, I can not see ourself there for another 100 years. We will probably fix Iraq & then they will turn around and charge us $300 for oil. Romney, must be kidding me, he wants to run this country as a Corporation, I have worked with big corperations, with them everything is money, they don't care about the employees & it is my way or highway, similar to Bush's way. They can cheat us big time. Huckabee, is a joke, he wants to abolish the constituion of USA & create a religious base laws, if I wanted that , I would have stayed in IRAN. Religion can not be mixed with the current laws , we are living in year 2008, we have so many laws, we are not living in 10century were there were no laws.
Religion can not play a role in this country, if it does, then what will be diffrent between us & the religious idiots running Iran. Go Hillary

I hope McCain wins the Republican nomination so that Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, and others like them will become irrelevant and implode... though somehow I know those wingnuts will slither back to their mircrophones and TV cameras, and keep right on trash talking for ratings and money, won't they? They shouldn't represent us - McCain should. Yes, McCain may destroy part of the Republican party... the current, extreme, right wing of the supposed "conservative" party. Let's be clear Republicans: That will be a good thing. Finally! Let's see... the original "Mr. Conservative," Senator Goldwater, who republicans courted and loved for decades, and some true conservatives still do, hated the the religious right and religious interference in politics; was pro gay rights including the rights of gays to honorably serve in the military; was pro choice on abortion; and was a Senator from Arizona. Sound like anybody else? Yes, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, as well as all ultra-religious right wing Republicans, who want specific social values enforced by the government. They want outsiders who don't hold their views to be rounded up, locked up, or at least trash talked. "They" are FOR government interference in people's lives. They are charlatans and false "conservatives". Go McCain! I hope you beat the crap out of Romney today. Restore honor to your party - the conservative wing of the Republican Party.

Really?????

Posted by: gramma moses | Feb 4, 2008 1:36:11 PM

Ann here reveals herself as not a very evolved voter, oh but a party flip flopper. A vote for the other team appears very immature especially since her entire career is that she is a supposed Republican. The error here is that she was afforded the opportunity to supply influence on behalf of the Republican party when maybe she isn't one after all.
Things must not be well for Mitt. Gee Whiz- Ann & Santorum. I thought he was disconnected from life support.

Hey Ann, give my best to Alec Baldwin when you see him in Canada!

I have voted a straight republican ticket for over 40 years. I will always vote for the most conservative candidate. Hillary gave pause to the answering of the question of giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens. That means although a staunch liberal, she recognizes the will of the people as an issue. John Amnesty McCain doesn't. I will have to vote for Hillary for that reason alone. McCain is like Bush in that he doesn't give a damn about what the people think or even our constitution. I don't want another person in the white house that thinks our constitution is a “a goddamned piece of paper”

Posted by: Frank | Feb 3, 2008 12:49:20 PM

NO! She'll just vote for Hillary because she is a woman, and Coulter would love to see a woman in charge. The "McCain not conservative" crap is just a cover.

Ironically, Michelle Malkin said the same thing.

Nothing wrong with that, but don't feed us this cover story. Just say "I would like to see a woman win."

Want more of the keep pushing fear metality to justify the war machine? Vote for McCain. I thought we woke up to this nonsense. This war was 100% wrong and we need to get out of there. The surge is working? Yea right, we believe everything the government says. From wht I hear, we continue to hear about bombings and deaths every day. I guess that's just old news. Gotta think more about Brittany.
