Count All the Votes!
February 17, 2008 8:16 PM
It's like the Florida recount, but in Harlem.
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was shortchanged hundreds of votes in several largely African American precincts in New York City, the New York Post reports.
Eighty election districts in New York City didn't record a single vote for Obama. Thousands for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and hundreds for former No. Carolina Sen. John Edwards, somehow did.
As the New York Times reports, in one largely black district in Brooklyn, the initial tally was 118 to 0, a Clinton sweep. A review showed the actual result was 118 for Clinton, 116 to Obama.
Officials are blaming it on human error.
Human error that somehow almost entirely worked against Obama.
I'm certain Clinton and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., will get right on the case!

FYI - Just got word the Clinton Machine is contacting convention delegates here in NV who have pledged their support to Senator Obama and asking them to vote for her at the Clark County DEM Convention this Saturday, 2/23 - certainly hope she and her "win at all costs" machine doesn't steal the nomination. Wonder if the Machine is doing this in other states as well!

It has also been reported that there has been some polling stations where Hillary got zero votes also.

The only people that are penalized in not counting Florida and Michigan are the people of both of those states. Really not their fault that some crazy far fetched rule is in place about a date of a primary! Seriously are we ever going to have an election that runs without any hiccups?

Bookwerm, Obama campaigned in Florida and in Michigan. To call voters to vote against someone, is campaigning. To release a cable ad which goes across the country, is campaigning in Florida. He broke the rules.

I went and read the stories for myself and Obama wasn't the only one who ended up with 0 votes. There were also cases where the same thing happened to Hillary. Thanks for the fair and unbiased reporting!

Let's get serious about facts. Last I heard, the zero tallies were in about 80 precincts for Obama and about 10 for Clinton. So, no need for finger-pointing yet. The votes need to get sorted out and the results certified. End result is that Obama may pick up one additional delegate from all this. Bigger picture is that it may add to pressure on black superd.s to listen to the voice of their constituency, which might swing another one or two delegates (though most are standing firm with Clinton even if their district went Obama). The big news would be that if at the end of the day, the delegate split is not as lop-sided as first presented and at this point, every delegate counts! Let's all wait for Wisconsin tomorrow and see what way the wind blows.

when will people finally see through this?
this country's federal govt is completely corrupt. when will you finally see through this?
it isn't hard to see. this country's political leaders are the worst liars of all mankind. i don't trust anything they say.
case in point: 9/11. It's proved that it was an inside job. Don't be an idiot. Study it for yourself. Anybody who can explain the pools of molten steel in the basements of all 3 demolished towers in terms of the govts explanation ... feel free to do so. I'll prove you wrong.
how many govt leaders and media outlets have examined this story ?

Clinton, FYI, you are making us all SICK when you try to get the Michigan and Florida delegates COUNTED! That is just Heinous, and if I were ever going to vote for you before, that just ended it. The rules were clear.. move the Primary date, lose your delegates. You signed on to that.. now SUCK IT UP! Jeez you pathetic windbag, fair is fair, and you wanting "do overs" just makes you look more and more pathetic.. So, Clinton, since you are not clear.. here are the rules! DNC rules for FL and MI STAND! Unless they hold NEW caucuses or primaries, they do NOT count.. And to think that the ones who voted matter? Even when they CAST their vote they knew it DIDN'T! To try to claim votes in states where Obama was not on the ballot, and/or didn't campaign is EVIL! You KNOW that anywhere folks DO get to know Obama better, YOUR numbers fall, and his RISE! And the DNC rules in other states? Your time to quibble was WAY before the election.

Wow! Why have we not heard this on any network. Also, why has no one pinned Clinton down on why she will not release her tax records. Where did she get the 5 million to loan her campaign? What is she hiding?

If you want fairness then vote Republican!!

It is interesting watching the Dem primary from the outside.
Lets see they have voter fraud, miscounting of votes in hteir own primary.
The republcian primary had none
So which party is the corrupt party?? The Dems/Libs getting caught in the crime!!

Jake we've all known about this for a while, I want you to follow up on this issue. I also want you to ask questions on the reason Sen. Clinton has refused making her tax records public. We need to know if you report issues in a fair and balanced manner. I look forward to seeing a report on those issues.

The report says in a handful of districts Hill recieved no votes. What's a handful? Can 80 districts=handful? Thanks Hilly and Billy. Like the people that support you said, it ain't over yet!

This is a prime example why blacks feel their vote does not count, and their concerns are legitimate. I have 18 and 19 year old daughters who have come to me and asked if their vote will count and I assured them that it would but after this I had to do a lot of conviencing. And for all of you that want to call us Obama suppoters cry babies I find this offensive, ALL we want is honesty and fairness.

You can bet if this did involve a major problem against Obama, the story would be running non-stop on all media outlets. The reason it is not is that it does only involve "hundreds" of votes, not thousands. There was no impropriety on any campaign's part, and Mrs. Clinton's vote count was underestimated as well. Obama followers will not doubt try to make more of this, suggesting something sinister. Certainly, every vote should count....INCLUDING those cast by voters in MI and FL! Now let's have the story about the actual DNC rule that is disenfranchising MI and FL, and how according to that same rule Iowa, NH, and SC also broke the rules.....So where's the fairness in all that?

That's weird. The story is wrong to a degree. The numbers were off for both Clinton and Obama. Bottom line. Clinton legitimately won. She had more votes as well. Oh well, a nothing story got us all worked up.
Posted by: irma | Feb 18, 2008 1:53:24 AM
This story doesn't make any sense. It states that Obama was short changed by hundreds of votes but then says eighty election districts didn't get a single vote for Obama. If that is the case then it should be more than hundreds of votes. I think you need to get your facts together.
Posted by: Firefighter | Feb 18, 2008 1:01:41 AM
Hah: This is what the Clintons had in mind all along!
They were arrogant enough to think they would cakewalk to the nomination, but if worse comes to worse they would bribe enough "super(stupid) delegates to give Hillary Clinton the nomination!
