Huckabee's Kansas 'Miracle'

February 09, 2008 5:36 PM

Miracles:

The parting of the Sea of Reeds...

Jesus turning water into wine... healing a leper and a man with a withered hand...

And former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee winning the Kansas Caucuses...?

"Earlier this morning, I said I didn't major in math, I majored in miracles. It looks like my victory in Kansas is one of them," said Huckabee, per ABC News' Kevin "Chupkabee" Chupka.

"It was an important victory, especially after the pundits spent the past few days saying this campaign is over. Kansas said not so fast," agreed campaign manager Chip Saltsman.

"I'm delighted that the good people of Kansas honored me with their vote. They, like people in the other 26 states who were not a part of Super Tuesday, deserve to have their voice heard -- and I am grateful for their support," said Huckabee.

Um... so do you think this constitutes a "miracle"?

Govenuer Morris was the Bill Clinton of his day. He had the Zipperitis hardcore.

Best not to use him as an example for the kids.

He did, however, pen a fine draft of the Constitution. We the People (instead of we the states) is a powerful phrase. It sets forth the principal that the Country belongs to the People not to the powerful Elites (who controlled the State governments back in the day).

The Country belongs to the People. Huck knows this and he will be a champion of all the People.

Roll On Huck and Count the Votes.

The phrase"we the people" in the preamble to the constitution was penned by G.(Gubinor-sp?)Morris...who was also the President of the Bible Union- which was respnsible for the distribution and inclusion of the Bible as a main part of childhood education. Why are we trying to whitewash the influence of the people of faith in this country? We do not live in soviet communist Russia were only one thing is allowed to be taught- this is America and our our chidren should be expodsed to all of the theories of the origin of man- including intelligent design, and not just evolution. Go Governor Huckabee. Ignore the media naysayers! "We the people" will have our say while we are still(?) the land of the free where all votes are counted! (we hope)

It's not because Huckabee is from Arkansas and I am from Arkansas but now make my home in Missouri, is my reason for voting for Huckabee. He is a good honest christian man. I truly believe he will make an excellent President. If I were to vote Democrate; which I'm not but if I were my vote would be for Obama and not Clinton. We have already had one Clinton in office and we surely DON"T need another Clinton. If Hillary wins I believe this world of ours will be in BIG trouble{we will be doomed}.She will promise you anything if she thinks you will vote for her. Then if she wins she won't keep her promises. She is a liar just like her husband. My prayers are with you Huckabee.

I spoke on behalf of Governor Huckabee at my local KS caucus today, and it was an amazing experience. the support for him was overwhelming. It's obvious that most of the reporters and pundits are out of touch with those of us who don't constitute the party's "elite". If it wasn't so sad, it would be laughable. Huckabee's win in KS isn't a miracle -- on Friday he had 1500 people show up at his Olathe, KS event (he had overflow crowds at all of his KS events on Friday, FYI). McCain couldn't even get 300 people to his Wichita event.

To all,
Bob Dole. Sam Brownback. A liberal governor. There are plenty of reasons Kansas should've gone to McCain. Its proximity to Missouri, a decisive state on Super Tuesday, which voted for McCain. There was only one reason that people voted for Huckabee, and it was a clear one, one that the media still likes to deny but that his supporters can't get enough of: McCain is done.

Romney is gone. Where do his votes go? Could the media have advertised more clearly Romney and McCain's feud? Romney's gone. There's only one conservative left. Go figure. I don't care if you don't like either of them. People will give the Huckabusybee a good chance if they realize they don't like McCain; and, as it just so happens, a lot of people don't like McCain.

This all started with Iowa. Then, to West Virginia. Finally, the hype will be in St. Paul- and nothing will bar Huckabee from the nomination from now until the end of the race, be it another Mormon or not.

The only reason Huckabee or McCain got anything is because they misrepresented Mitt Romney--or should I say lied. There is honor among thieves! Now the whole country will pay for the lack of Romney's leadership--no matter who gets elected! Mark my word.

david,

I misread your earlier post. My apologies.

But still, Kansas win for Huckabee is odd since he is suppose to be unelectable. And tonight, He's competitive in Washington state, of all places. That's definitely not the bastions of American theocracy.

Reasonable people see Huckabee as a reasonable person who did reasonable things in Arkansas. He built roads, improved education, and created jobs. Huckabee is a Christian, but not a theocrat.

Posted by: JK | Feb 10, 2008 12:03:41 AM

jk,

So explain what your point was about "Kansas isn't the South". Kansas is at least as conservative and more fundie than most of the South. If conservatism and religion were not your point about the South, then what was it?

"The fact there is no such thing as a miracle makes life no less enjoyable." (Me)

Posted by: david | Feb 9, 2008 10:55:59 PM

david,

If you were familiar with American geography, you could probably see that Kansas borders Colorado. Kansas is obviously not part of the South. If you want to say there are a lot of Christians in Kansas, that's fine, but I'm think you're getting religion mixed up with geography.

As for miracles: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle" (Al Einstein). Winning in Kansas is as miraculous as a newborn taking his first breath.

Relax, Huckabee is a Christian and so have 90% of all past presidents of this country up to the present day. None imposed religion on anyone, so your ignorant argument only makes you look foolish.

Huckabee is much more intelligent than most realize. He is a published author and loves writing. He also wants to do away with the IRS. Read the book on the "Fair Tax". It will change your view of him.

If the Huckster won, he would try to turn the US into a theocracy. Fortunately, he has no chance.

Why is Huckabee the spoiler? I think the GOP and the Media are afraid he may just pull this off. They have played him as a "joke" the whole race yet he won 5 states on Tuesday spending almost no money to Mitts 7 states spending millions. Ron Paul is the spoiler. I have nothing against the guy...to tell the truth I kind of like him; however, how mant states has he won? What percentage of votes is he getting?
I have been saying since January if Ron Paul pulled out Huckabee would get his votes and take out Mitt.
Go Huck GO!!!!

Why is Huckabee the "spoiler"? The media has never given Huckabee a chance yet he is still in it. He took 5 states on Tuesday spending almost no money to Mitts millions. Don't count Huckabee out just yet. Ron Paul is the spoiler. Nothing against him; I kind of like the guy to tell you the truth but, how many states has he gotten? What percentage of votes is he getting?
Go Huck GO!!!

I would urge all American's to stand with Huckabee. We need a leader at this time of extreme crises in America. Do an internet search and consider Abraham Lincoln's Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day, issued March 30, 1863. "We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own."

Miracle? This Ain't no Miracle.

This is just stone cold justice.

I’m technically an independent, but I’m a Christian and, like many Christians, my moral values trump all and I tend to vote Republican. That having been said, Mike Huckabee is the only candidate that would actually make me consider voting for Hillary. McCain has his problems, but at least he’s not a jerk.

Just my 2¢.

Posted by: Jeff | Feb 9, 2008 8:59:12 PM

Huckabee still has a good chance of winning the nomination. He does not need those 1191 votes before the nomination. He just needs to deny them to McCain. That way the nomination is decided at the convention, and Huckabee has a good chance of prevailing at such a convention.

I am very inspired by Huckabee's speech. I am a demoracts but I will surely vote for John McCain If he choose Huckabee as Vice President. I am pretty sure that there are thousands of democrats will vote for John McCain/Huckabee ticket because we all share same ideology.

Posted by: Chacko | Feb 9, 2008 7:40:33 PM

Does this actually surprise anyone? McCain winning Kansas would have been the bizarre outcome. No miracle here.

Posted by: matt | Feb 9, 2008 7:38:19 PM

I agree with Brett. The remaining states are going to come out strong for Huck and turn this thing around. This will be a slap in the face to the Republican elite and the media. The people are speaking!! Huck is the candidate for the people, by the people. GO HUCK!!

Join in to help get it done!

I don't think that the Democrats are afraid of any of the Republicans, especially Huckleberry. Although there wasn't much to choose from today in Kansas for the republican nominaton. Kansas is all messed-up anyway. Look at what they have as a Governor.

It's the evangelicals that elected the current President that has put this country in one of it's most trying times in history. He should be convicted of wars crimes and murder.

Go Obama! Get it right and listen to Governor Kathleen.

Kansas isn't the South? So the Bible Belt doesn not exist out of the South? Kansas is one of the most fundamentalist religious states in the nation. As recently as 2006 the Kansas Board of Eductation proclaimed its doubt in evolution.

This is perfect. It's "Make fun of the evangelicals season". The networks have chosen their candidates. They like McCain the most, out of the party they hate. About 2 out of 10 reporters will vote for McCain in the general election. That compares with 2 out of 100 (if they're really stoned and can't read the ballot), if Huckabee gets the nomination. What if "We The People", chose not to cooperate with your predictions. What if we don't like being insulted for our beliefs. What if we fight back at the polls?

It is indeed a miracle--a miracle that Gov. Huck's candidacy is still viable, at least to some small extent. I think that this win emphasizes that, despite all that the media has done in annointing Sen. McCain as the nominee, there is still a deep division in the GOP between the die-hard conservatives and the more progressive elements (if there are any) in the party.

Posted by: chuck | Feb 9, 2008 6:23:48 PM

I agree with Brett

Posted by: Michael | Feb 9, 2008 6:07:27 PM

Kansas isn't the South and it is a little shocking that Huckabee won by almost 40 points. Huckabee's CPAC speech was incredible and it's a shame the conservatives didn't wake up sooner to what we have in Huckabee. He is a conservative and the pundits slander of him has hurt the party. I don't know how this primary will end up, but it looks like Huckabee may win the majority of states that actually vote GOP in the general election. McCain has picked up the majority of his delegates in CA, NY, NJ, and several other states where the GOP will get hammered in November. It means something.
