Rush says he may raise $$$ for Hillary -- so as to ensure she's the Dem nominee

February 08, 2008 1:10 AM

Rush Limbaugh Thursday said he's considering raising cash for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign so as to ensure she's the Democratic nominee.

Earlier in the week Limbaugh said that if Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is the Democratic presidential nominee, the GOP this November is "doomed."

After the withdrawal of Mitt Romney from the GOP race, Limbaugh said to his listeners, "might it be required (she's having to loan herself money), do you think I should conduct a fundraiser for Mrs. Clinton? Mitt did his part today. He got out so as not to fracture the party any further and not to harm the effort to win the war in Iraq. Should I do my part, not by joining my liberal friends in the Republican Party, but actually raising money for Mrs. Clinton, and asking you to join me, so that she would have a chance here to once again have a good shot at getting a Democrat nomination so that we win the White House?"

Limbaugh underlines that "the reason for raising money for Hillary is because that apparently my party is relying on fear and loathing of Hillary to get the nomination, to unite Republicans, who are, some of them, off the reservation. The Republicans do not seem to be relying on leadership in their party to unite the party. They seem to be relying on all these external things, nobody is going to vote for Hillary, negative turnout factor. What if she's not the nominee? We've got make sure she's the nominee if the Republican Party is to be unified. What more loyal thing could I do than to run a fundraiser for Mrs. Clinton? You watch, though, you watch how that will be questioned."

On Wednesday, Limbaugh said of Clinton, "she just polarizes people. I think she's going to gin up enough anti-Hillary turnout out there to perhaps be a boon to whoever the Republican nominee is. ...Now, if Obama is the nominee, we are doomed, and you should get ready and prepared for it now."

Limbaugh, who has been a thorn in the side of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the GOP presidential frontrunner, predicted that as it becomes more certain that McCain will be the Republican nominee, the media would soon turn on him, "doing stories on his age, and they're not going to be mean, they are not going to be vicious, they're going to be almost sorrowful. ... We're going to get the worst pictures of McCain. We're going to get him looking tired. We're going to hear references to his forgetfulness. 'Isn't it just a shame?' And if that doesn't work, then they're going to do stories on the fact he's nuts. Just mark my words."

Hey Rush, face it. American is about to live out the true meaning of its creed. He's supporting Hillary because he knows deep down she's one of them, if she's worth $50 Million. Protecting Corporations and Lobbyists that pocket tax cuts and use the money to set up jobs overseas so they can make more money to pocket. Obama is right, he's figured it out, and he's amassing the little people to halt it all. Hillary's campaign is a smokescreen for the machine and the wealthist 1% of this country. She's using part of her wealth to get the power back. If she get in, it will be nothing but excuses why things can't get done and why Bill's hands are in everything. The one good thing Obama has said, he's kicking the lobbyists out of Washington, because they are the direct line to protecting Corporate profits. Going forward if they want profits they are going to have to earn them by providing the good jobs for people in this country not just charging us higher prices to put the money in their pockets. Cars, food, education, consumer goods, gasoline, medicine etc. don't cost what they are making us pay. More than 30-50% percent of every price is going as profits to the CEO's and wealthy investors to by Million dollar yatchs (I can't even spell them) mansions, stock portfolios, jewels, offshore accounts held in two or three places, while the common people in this country struggle to just put food on the table and a roof over their heads! Like Obama said, "Our time has come!" GET OVER IT RUSH!!!!

Rush finally got one right . The GOP is doomed. And the Repubs need only look in the mirror to see who did them in !Race hatred and fear just are not the selling points they have been in the past. That and shifting demographics spell the end of the GOP as a major political party. They will not be missed. You do not think so ? Wait and watch .

If Mr. Obama is not the nominee then I advise him to run as independent if he can. He will wipe both McCain and Hillary. We will wait and see!
Go Obama!

I have to admire Hillary. In one week she has engaged the support of both Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. Its funny to see how afraid they are that they won't have her to use as a punching bag for everything that is wrong with America. If Barack wins the nomination they won't know what to do since many of the red states voted for him.

USA was ready for a black president in year 2000. However, Colin Powell decided not to run. He would have got votes from Republicans as well as Non - republicans. He was much qualified and experienced. Later he joined Bush administration as Secretary of State and they made him a liar.
Obama has no qualifications or experience and no one - even blacks - vote for him. Skin color should not be the criteria to vote for him.

Hillary needs all the help she can get! I'm sure she will be glad to take your money, and anything else she can take. Yes help hillary! She NEEDS YOU RUSH!

Then she'll turn around and dump you!

Barefootboy-very ingnorant statement-seeing he was raised and schooled(paid) by his white grandmother. Also where were you during the Clinton Administration-they did a lot for the black community in Bill's adminstration"

"Obama is going to win this thing and when he gets in there he is going to straighten you white folks out. You have run this country too long. I'm waiting for this day."

There is going to be a lot of McCain democrates if Obama gets the nomination, exactly what the republicans and the media wants. The DNC is playing right into thier hands. They are all ready to nail him on his abortion vote in Illinois to termnate a baby that has survived a botched abortion- it's been posted on some of the GOP sites and this will lose him those red caucus states that he just won and is flaunting like they are some real prize. I don't know where he has been or is smoking but they will still be red in November. Look how the country has gone in most war time elections-Not with candidates like Obama. America and the DNC need to wake up-thier party is fractured beyond repair at this point. This is getting way to drawn out and Howard Dean has no way of controlling the demigod Obama he has created.

To Mike @ Feb 8, 2008 11:07:26 AM

Hill's got the experience. Political experience that is.

That means riding shotgun with Bill through all the smoke filled rooms. Learning first hand where and when to stick the other guy with the shiv. How to kneecap, how to spin, how to say and do whatever it takes to win without losing a minute of sleep.

She'll take down Obama sooner or later. Maybe in the smoke filled room at the convention. Maybe earlier.

See Huck knows all of this and watched it going down from the front row back in the day.

He'll be ready to take on Hill and Bill.

Go Huck Go.

You have to be really stupid to listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Hillary wants to debate with Obama on tv every week because she ran out of campaign money and wants to get on TV for free. I remember 2 months ago she said he wasnt in her league.

Coulter and Limbaugh want to raise money for her because she and the Clintons are members of the republic tha the U.S. is .ie (the establishment)-not republicans in name only. Obama's health care plan is actually more conservative than hers.

I BELIEVE THAT OBAMA IS NOT BAD, BUT HE CAN'T NEVER COMPETE AGAINST HILARY.SHE HAS A LOT,A LOT,ALOT MORE EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA AND I KNOW THAT SHE COULD BE AN EXCELLENT CHOICE.

Ana,
How is Hill's experience different than Obama's experience? Both have a few years in the US Senate.. Obama actually has a little more, having served at the State level

Posted by: Mike | Feb 8, 2008 11:07:26 AM

If anything, this negative press implicitly helps Obama get the nomination, and Rush is smart enough to know that. This just confirms that Rep. are just itching to get Obama in the General Election, because they know Hillary is the stronger candidate!

Posted by: Anita | Feb 8, 2008 10:58:08 AM

I would vote for Hillary Clinton over John McCain. However if Obama is nominated...

ANOTHER DEMOCRAT FOR MCCAIN

Posted by: stature | Feb 8, 2008 10:42:18 AM

Obama is much better on issues of government accountability than Clinton. Libertarian types who think the Republicans ought to be punished for the transgressions of the last few years can vote for Obama, but would choose McCain over Clinton.

Obama is also much better about welcoming people of faith into his vision of a unified America.

Rush is right. Obama will cherry pick libertarians and Rick Warren evangelicals from the Republicans and will win in a landslide. Clinton won't get either of those groups and she'll pull out a squeaker at best.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." If Mr. Limbaugh holds such a low opinion of Sen. McCain, I might just have to reconsider my prospective vote for President and examine the Senator from Arizona and his policies more closely!

More seriously, though, the moment Mr. Limbaugh holds a fund-raiser for Sen. Clinton is the moment that civilization and any semblance of order as we know it in this universe will cease to exist, not to mention that Hell will have frozen over.

It seems like GOP will be the next U.S President again. Wakeup DEM, use your vote smartly, I don't think Senator Obama can beat Senator John McCain. Election is not a game. Last 7 years is more than enough for you to learn the lesson of how difficult your life is under this current GOP President.
Believe me, not many people will vote for a young and in-experience African American for President in this November. I intend to vote for Senator John McCain or not go to the poll if DEM pick a non experience leader. Like others moderated DEM, I always vote for a good Candidate or not to vote at all.
