Thoughts As the Election Returns Come In From Virginia, No. 1

February 12, 2008 8:20 PM

Whatever it is that Obama has that's getting all these voters inspired and singing and running to the polls to help him win these contests to win so decisively...

McCain has the Bizarro version of it.

Personally, what I believe that Sen. Obama has which inspires such outpourings of support was best displayed in the recent contest in Nebraska. He was the only candidate who appeared anywhere in the state and was so appreciated for having done so that Omaha changed its name to "Obamaha" for the day. Of course, the delegate selection process went overwhelmingly for him. Sen. Obama seems to be using a very old-fashioned technique to garner votes and support and to inspire such loyalty: show people that you care about them and listen to them when they speak.

It is not about race or gender and stop playing those dirty tricks, it is about loving your country. You can clearly see the pattern: HRC invests her time and money only where she thinks she is going to get something from it. Should she be the nominee only because she won those "rich delegate"states: Ny, NJ, CA? Of course not! The vote of every American in every rural town, in Alaska or in the Virgin Islands counts. So, to the Clinton campaign: stop saying this is about winning delegates, step aside if you can't do better. Only one nominee has been able to form a diverse American coallition and he deserves the nomination: Sen. Obama!

Maryland keeps polls open to 9:30 when the rules say they close at 8:00. I gues rules are only for Clinton states huh?

How could the USA want a candidate for President that has little to no experience, has no idea what it means to be commander in chief and relies on personality. The real issues take real experience to solve them and effectively bring about change like Hillary can and will. I vote Hillary all the way and hope to God she wins!!!

Obama won the latino vote in VA - where do the exit polls show this???

Non-sense

1/4 white, 1/4 asian, 1/2 hispanic = me

Rendell (? spelled correct) of PA said white men might not vote for an African American.

Maybe it is the other way around - in all of the state primaries where Obama has won - more than half of his voters are black.
Around 90% of AA's vote for Obama - what would be said if 90% of whites would vote for Clinton? Just Curious - pretty big double standard perhaps???

These comments are the problems of this country...We continue to divide ourselves with whites, blacks, latinos, asians and others. And if we continue some country or countries will love to take advantage of our ignorants. Regardless of who wins, we should strive to define ourselves as Americans !

Joseph Riedel:
Latinos are only 1% of the vote in Virginia. You can call that pretty decisively?

Obama, the latest product of Oprah Inc.

What is a Lation? And Obama won the Latino vote in Virginia pretty decisively, btw.

I voted for Obama, but I am having second thoughts, I read this disturbing article about The Republican Party and Karl Rove sabotaging the Democratic Party primaries and caucases, please read the following article.

Gee- A big surprise- independants and blacks voted for Obama. Watch him lose in Texas when the Latinos have their voice heard. Hillary- we stand strong behind you.

Actually Obama has caucuses and blacks as well as weathy whites voting for him. That's about to end when we go to working class states where people don't have to show up at caucues for three plus hours and that don't have large black electorates.
