Err Jordan

March 18, 2008 2:22 PM

In Amman, Jordan, today, Sen. McCain, R-Ariz., seemed to step in it when he mistakenly seemed to say that the Sunni terrorists with Al Qaeda are Shiite.

The Washington Post reports McCain said that Iranian operatives were "taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back."

Huh?

McCain said it's "common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate."

Watch VIDEO HERE.

One of the McCainettes, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Ind-Conn., whispered in McCain's ear. McCain then said: "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al-Qaeda."

Jet lag?

It wasn't just a mix up--McCain said the same thing earlier!

If McCain's right about an Iran-al Qaeda link, then why did he correct himself when Lieberman whispered the real information in his ear?

McCain's knowledge of foreign policy inspires laughter around the world once again.

With all the talk about experience. Look what our so-called experienced politicians like Cheney and Rumsfeld have gotten us into. It was reported last week that at least seven American service man were killed. How's the situation getting better? I wonder why the media has not been able to tie the decline in the economy to a war that has been so expensive to wage, that we may not be able to sustain the expense over the long haul. There is a connection.

Actually, Iran training Al Qaeda HAS been widely reported in the news. He meant to say extremists, but his original statement was accurate too. Look at the 9-11 Commission Report, page 61 or The New York Sun 11/14/06, or USA Today 4/11/07, The Guardian 5/22/07, and on and on. Sheesh! Could someone please at least PRETEND they aren't just looking for any little thing to crucify McCain over? (Funny how no one noticed that at a town meeting in Texas, Obama said we should decrease our dependence on foreign oil and stop making countries like Iran rich. We haven't bought oil from Iran since the 1970s).

My friends,

McCain is just as dumb as Bush.

Period.

If he doesn't understand the economy,if he doesn't know our enemies and if he doesn't know if he's a conservative republican or Liberal republican, why should we vote for him? This man is hot tempered and won't help America prosper. His plans would hurt the economy further. How can we sustain a war that cost $12b a month? If we want to remain a super power, we need to get a democrat into the White House.

It'a an OOOPs moment, corrected in a few moments... like supporting an inflammatory pastor who damns America, by disavowing his statements say 7 years later. Or like forgetting to submit your past 5 or so Tax Returns. Or avoiding press questions regarding your business dealings with a colleague under indictment (with whom you bought your house)... We all have our senior momments.

If one cannot keep our enemies straight, how can he keep us safe? More importantly, how might he know whom is on our side?

Posted by: aross | Mar 18, 2008 4:19:45 PM

Let us quote Hillary Clinton talking about McCain: McCain has a lifetime experience in national security issues as Ima and a lifetime experience in foreign policy issues as I am. McCain cannot have mispoken, but this is the reality of the ticket McCain/Hillary. God save America.

So he doesn't understand the economy OR the nature of the so-called threat from Al-Quaeda? So what the hell are we supposed to be voting FOR when we vote for John? Jeez I knew he was adopting his policies, I didn't know he was adopting his ignorance too. Ugh, just vote for somebody else. The Republicans had a chance to be relivant, they chose to marginalize themselves from the country. Let's keep them exiled from power so they can't screw anything else up worse than they already have over the last eight years.

And this is news why? But I bet the MSM will push this story more then the fact we have a Racist in Obama.

A terrorist is a terrorist as said before, keeping the difference between the different sects shite, sunni, hama, hezbollah people will have a slip of the tongue.

Yea this will only get worse if he is elected. Bumbling, stumbling every step of the way. Remember "I'm a conservative liberal (ohoh) I mean a conservative republican".

Just a senior moment . . . get used to it! :)

Yeah, a mix up he keeps repeating. He'd probably still be repeating it when he orders bombers into Iran.

Posted by: JR | Mar 18, 2008 2:45:39 PM

no doubt it was a mix up, but the question is whether he mispoke or he didn't know what he was talking about.

Posted by: DKNY | Mar 18, 2008 2:35:05 PM

Clearly it was just a mix up by McCain.
