Mayor Kilpatrick (D-Detroit) Indicted
March 25, 2008 3:06 PM
Once-perceived-wunderkind Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention if Michigan's delegates ever get recognized, was charged yesterday with perjury.
(More on the controversy in a fantastic Nightline report from Vicki Mabrey HERE.)
Over at Powerline, they're surveying the coverage and playing "Guess That Party!" given the lack of mention of Kilpatrick's party affiliation in much of the coverage.
One note: Kilpatrick is NOT an Obama superdelegate, though it's been reported all over the place that he is. The Obama campaign says he is not.

You guys need to get a life and stop sterotyping people. My God can we all get alone. This is a disgrace on how much we look at color.

Powerline's story is rich, given the media's history of failing to identify corrupt Republicans as such. Fox regularly 'accidentally' switches party affiliations on their chyron and on-screen titling.

I'm from Detroit, and it is no hell hole. People who knock Detroit base it on the media, and don't know what they are talking about. Like most cities,we have some good, some bad, but don't base your impression on a few leaders or what the media feeds you. There are a lot of good people trying very hard to make the city a great place to live. For years people trashed NYC as being dirty, unsafe, but I don't think anyone blamed white people for that. Incredible double standards and racism still exists. And for the record, Kwame was not "preying" on some young white girl. It was an African American woman he had known since high school. Doesn't make it right but at least get your facts right.

I want to denounce and reject anybody using my name as the racist who I replied to.
I'm shocked and dismayed that people are stereotyping my name.
I feel like I'm under sniper fire here... it's a good thing I brought my daughter along with me!

It takes no genius to realized that he was for Obama, given the fact that blacks have been voting and siding with him 90 to 10 over Clinton. But as expected Obama wouldn't aknowledge that because it would be playing with fire.

There are billboards up in Detroit that say "if the text don't fit, you must acquit" and I think that says it all. Imagine flying into Detroit for this weekend's NCAA basketball games and seeing that. It's what Detroit is all about right now!
