* Gov. Phil Bredesen, D-Tenn., in the Politico: “They have a much steeper, rockier hill to climb if it goes to the convention. You’re going to spend this whole summer – and lots of money and time and effort – trying to convince people that whoever isn’t eventually nominated, isn’t electable. That’s a heck of a hole to climb out of come the first of September. What’s been going on for the last 90 days just gets worse and worse as the summer goes on.”
If Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, did not get the nomination because of the voters of superdelegates -- even after winning the popular vote -- Bredesen said, “There would be hell to pay in the party for a long time to come.”
* Clinton superdelegate Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., in the Columbian: “I definitely don’t want the superdelegates to be the deciding factor."
* Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., in the Las Vegas Review Journal:
Question: Do you still think the Democratic race can be resolved before the convention?
Reid: Easy.
Q: How is that?
Reid: It will be done.
Q: It just will?
Reid: Yep.
Q: Magically?
Reid: No, it will be done. I had a conversation with Governor Dean today. Things are being done.

UPDATE: Note that this original post, when quoting from Politico, used the Politico's construct "If Obama were denied the nomination by Democratic insiders after winning the party’s popular vote..." some readers thought that a bit leading, and I saw their point, so I changed it.

I see that Obama has put his crazy old uncle Rev Wright back in the attic! Looks like the Rev has decided not to attend events in Fl and TX. What a shame I was looking forward to more of his racist and hate filled sermons. I guess we will have to waite for him to release more of his greatest hits!

This Bosnia story has REALLY hurt Clinton.
If she has so much "experience", why lie?
On almost every newspaper I've seen today, it was on the front cover.
Honestly, I don't think Hillary will win the nomination. The DNC has been hinting on this for weeks.

Stop Obama '08-They don't get it? Well, if we could write our posts in crayon some of the Obama fanatics might.

Thecommanderguy: The difference between Hillary and Obama is that Hillary is a true patriot, who loves her country. Obama loves Rev Wright more than his country or grandmother!

Will-"foreign policies being the problem. That's why this country is hated so much and that is why we are a target for terrorist."
Facts and history are not on your side. Look it up. Burning aircraft in the desert by PLO. Night club bombings by Arabs. Americans (240+) blown up by Arabs. Americans captured by Plo and Hizbullah and on and on. Americans blown up visiting the pyramids. Arabs blowing up world trade center before 9/11, etc, etc.

This thing ended a long time ago. The Dems are going to lose in November, and it is because they always lose. They love to lose. Addicted to it. First, they join a crazy lovefest for Obama...the "liberal" media and the elites in the party. It was amazing. They bash Clinton and uplift Obama. Then after SNL revealed they were high on crack, they run the other way and bash Obama, but the damage had been done for Clinton. She cannot win, and now her supporters are angry...but Obama has been revealed as a neophyte, so he cannot win either. LOL. Only the Dems could blow this moment.
PS: add Howard Dean on Fl/Mich - and you cannot write stuff like this.

You may not think he can win the general election but you know what? He is the one who is going to get the chance to try! Get use to it.

Will-America was hated during the cold war in Europe. Look it up. Check out the marches. We were hated by the Germans, the French, the Brits, the Arabs as usual, and certainly all the eastern block nations.

Will, you and your Rev. Wright "excusers" aren't getting it.
There is no out of context excuse. Google James Cone - it's the writings of this man that Trinity gets it's church doctrine & beliefs from.
It's Black Liberation Theology. It's radical. Barack Obama is a member. This is what he believes.
He cannot win a general election. Get use to it.

British guy, it really doesn't matter what you think. Your leftwing media spoon feeds you the views they want you to believe and you soak it up like babies.
Obama can't win a general election. Tell your British mates that they better get use to a President McCain and get over it.

"Matt, Rev Wright was talking about our foreign policies being the problem. That's why this country is hated so much and that is why we are a target for terrorist.
Well, then, why didn't he just say it that way then? There are ways to say things that are far more politically correct than how Rev. Wright said it."
Actually, I think he succeeded in ways that many others have failed. The more educated citizens that want to know the truth are searching the context of this snippet you see on TV. I, for one, probably never would have been exposed to this guys sermons, if it wasnt for the coverage and the mischaracterization of this pastor. It isnt his job as a pastor to spoon feed you sugar cubes and be politically correct. It is a church. For some reason, you think, you are hiring a pastor as the president of the united states.
"As Obama said, maybe he was trying to be 'controversial.' Guess what? He succeeded."
Good. He should be more controversial next time. People may finally learn something in the future.
"Maybe Obama WILL get to finish his Senate term afterall."
Please elaboate.

NC your Obama love is showing

I think that the PA race is going to be very close. I do think that Hillary's sniper-fire comment is going to drop her in the polls. Hopefully PA will even end up going for Obama and that will signal Clinton that for the good of the party, she needs to drop out. Obama 2008!

I'm a Hillary Clinton supporter. I've been considering Obama.
I don't like admitting it but her chances of getting the nom is slim to none.
I know many people (here in NC atleast) with the same view.
Anyway, Even though I'm a Hillary supporter, I will be voting Obama in the primary.
The longer this battle continues the more it hurts our chances in Nov.
I still like Hillary. But there's really no difference in their policies and we need a nominee now.
I've also been encouraging others in my town to do the same. We need a nominee.

so saddened,
what I meant is that the Democrats don't need people without a political conscience. That's part of the reason btw that DNC headquarters do not support Clinton.
If you're willing to be responsible for a war mongering administration that already caused the senseless death of thousands of Americans, the suffering and mutilation of many more, and of still many more thousands of ordinary citizens in Iraq, you do as you please. Don't be a coward however by saying that even with your vote you would be NOT responsible. Yes, you would.
And you WOULD show a serious lack of morality and conscience, and that's why I'd prefer not be in the same party with the likes of you.
And again, Obama won't need you to beat McCain. Anyone who studied the turnouts in the primaries, party registrations etc. knows that the Reps will be crushed by the Dems in the GE. The DNC is dwarfing the GOP this year, partly thanks to eight years of Bush/Cheney, partly thanks to the rise of political phenomenon - anf it ain't the hillbillies.

Absolute nonesense! Britain like all of europe and most of the civilised world (and probably a lot of uncivilised places aswell) want Obama to win. Whats crazy is that even our right wing papers and commentators are really pro Obama.
I think what a lot of Americans really underestimate is just how disliked they are as a country (writer not included). Obama is regarded as the potential saviour of your country.
The feeling over here is that if you do not elect Obama then we should write you off for good. After 8 years of Bush this is considered to be your last chance to prove that the majority of you are not all red neck, creationalist fanatics.
I have to say i do not share these views but i am a substantial minority.
Over here Clinton is disliked almost as much as Bush. McCain gets a reasonable press but there is a lot os suspicion about his warmongering tendency's.

Their main argument in Denver...
Hillary Clinton has won New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York. By contrast, Obama has failed to win a single state with the word "New" in its name. Obama’s failure among self-proclaimed new states, raises serious questions about his supposed strength among young voters (new people) and his supposed message of change (new policies).
