Race and Ohio

March 04, 2008 11:52 PM

Interesting exit poll nugget from Ohio…

If I'm reading this exit poll correctly, 20% of Ohio Democrats who voted said race was important…and they broke for Clinton 61% to 38%.

That's quite an edge.

ABC News polling director Gary Langer breaks it down in an email:

19 percent of whites said race was important in their vote; 80 percent, not important.

25 percent of blacks said race was important in their vote; 75 percent, not important.

Whites who said it was important went 77-21 for Clinton. White who said race was not important went 63-35 for Clinton.

Blacks overall went 86-14 for Obama. Blacks who said race was important, 84-16 for Obama.

Incidentally, the same exit polls indicates that gender was important for 17% of voters…Those voters went overwhelmingly FOR Clinton 62% to 38%.

Those who said gender was not important went for Clinton 54% to 44%.

What do you make of these numbers?

Latino Americans, who are falling in love with the Clintons..remember "he" was the first "black" president. Will Hillary be the first "latina" president? If so remember to stay in your PLACE, because if you don't...you will kindly be reminded by them, you were just used for political gain.

Peace.

I want you all to think about this at when you consider as OHIO votes so does the nation??? Ohio was the most devastated by NAFTA than any other state in the union, and BILL CLINTON is the president that is responsible for it. SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON was so sure she could bet on their ignorance, to RE-ELECT the couple that took them down the FIRST TIME she proved that a state that could fall for BUSH both 1 and 2, well you get the point :)they fell for the race wink.

Why is it that Obama always whines when he loses?

Hillary never whines when she loses.

I believe the media has created a monster who thinks he should never lose any election.

Obama is only winning the red states he could never win in a general election.
You can take that to the bank.

Posted by: Sam | Mar 5, 2008 11:19:07 PM

Ah, the cherished YOUTH VOTE! Any candidate stupid enough to think he can count on a bunch of even stupider kids deserves to lose. And just like the babies they are, take away their lollipop and they cry, cry, cry.

Posted by: druggstohr | Mar 5, 2008 7:08:57 PM

Its absolutely obvious that OH and TX primaries were based on race and religion. The media was interviewing voters and they played it on TV. White guy in Ohio says, "I cant vote for OBama, I heard he doesnt put his had on his heart and he was sworn in on the Koran!" Latina woman in Texas says, " Black politicians havent really done anything for the latino community. Obama is good...just a shame that he is black." I dont not make this stuff up folks! Such a shame. And i dont see the huge black voter turn out for Barack as racist. Here you have a race of people who have been undoubtley treated as inferior to others. Dispute it all you want but its true. They see a strong black man, one who is inspiring, extremely intelligent, a leader. They are drawn to him. He is what black people have been hoping for to change the view of them. They not inferior. They are intelligent. They are leaders.

Posted by: pinky112 | Mar 5, 2008 6:05:57 PM

Of course race was always a factor. How do you explain, African Americanc voting 91% - 9% in favor of Obama in all the primaries so far?

Why do we raise the issue of race whenever Obama loses a primary?

I believe that the media can be a little more constructive in looking at the issues that affect all Americans rather than focusing on divisive issues with the purpose of flaming the issue of race in America.

Reverse racism or just plain racism is wrong no matter what.So is sexism. So stop trying to find a way to justify it because there is no way to justify it.

Sue,

RE: Hillary's running mate

You know something, the hypocrisy of Hillary and her supporters like you amaze me. If Obama is unqualified to answer that ringing phone at 3:00 am than Hillary should NOT consider that he is qualified to be her running mate. She says he is an empty suit who is all speeches and no solutions. Why would she or you want him as her VP. Could it be that you simply want his voters votes to join those of her IGNORANT, HATE-FILLED, MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO coalition because Hillary can't beat McCain without it. Hillary will not be winning either Texas or Ohio in November without the new voters that Obama has brought to this race.

Well, as an Obama supporter, I will use every effort and contact to encourage OBAMA not to run with this woman who stands for everything he is AGAINST from the old rust belt politics fo yesterday. Hillary has made a calculated decision that if she can't win the Nomination she would rather McCain have it so she can come back in 4 years. I believe tha Senator Obama ought to make the same decision. He ought to work with McCain in bridging the divide and if MeCain can go 8 years and do well by our country; than Obama should help him. Obama will only be 54 in eight years. Hillary will be a 68 year old female who will look like the botox injected, old played out Hag that she is.

Posted by: shelgirl | Mar 5, 2008 12:57:51 PM

Vickie, Reverse racism exists because white people held power for so long. Just like many latinos who will not vote for a black man because they were persecuted by blacks as they moved into black neighborhoods.

Ohio is still very much segregated in terms of urban vs. suburban. There are not enough of the Black professionals like you find in Chicago or Atlanta. No one makes enough money to move out of the inner city. I blame it on the horrible urban public schools that do not educate these kids.

Also I cite the fact that labor/construction jobs are held tightly by unions who can select membership as they choose.

Posted by: ohiogal | Mar 5, 2008 12:52:59 PM

BT, IA ....but Mr. Hope supporters aren't racists for voting for Mr. Hope by 86%???? 90% of the blacks in Virginia voted for Mr. Hope and no one is stupid enough to think those votes AREN'T based on race. Only white people that vote for Hillary are racists? Wake the he** up and stop being a hypocrite.

Posted by: Vickie | Mar 5, 2008 12:24:14 PM

Tactically, the Obama made the mistake of jamming the airwaves with commercial after commercial... For the late breakers it was Obama fatigue. As I voted yesterday morning, two ladies stood on either side of me talking out loud to themselves saying "I still don't know what to do" from the results, it's these late deciders who broke for HRC.

Posted by: ohiogal | Mar 5, 2008 12:18:36 PM

You know what I'm impressed by during this election cycle....
other than the younger voters, I was extremely impressed by the people in Iowa. And I have never been to Iowa, but I might have to take a trip....Iowans, to me, are what America truly is. Not this racist bs crap from OH and TX.
Iowa is what made me proud, again, of this country. It's the human element, stupid.

Posted by: LA in Indiana | Mar 5, 2008 11:55:28 AM

Here's what I make of these numbers: the majority of Clinton's support comes from two types of voters--those who are uninformed, ignorant, or in Ohio's case, just plain racist and those who vote for her just because she's a woman. It's very depressing.

Posted by: BT, IA | Mar 5, 2008 11:13:21 AM

I'm a white, educated, female - I voted for Obama because I liked his policies on health care reform, a graduated withdrawal from Iraq, and his desire for non-partisan politics.

And *yes*, I will MOST DEFINITELY vote for McCain in the general election if Clinton is the candidate.

Because I won't vote for someone who uses the gender card.
Or the race card.
Or the religion card.
To get ahead.

I don't vote for bigots.

The fact that the Democratic Party has not come down on these tactics - unlike the Republican Party believe it or not! - must mean the party supports this kind of mentality.

I fully plan to change my registration back to unaffiliated after this election. This campaign has left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Posted by: Chicka | Mar 5, 2008 11:07:55 AM

LA in Indiana, it is Obama's fault that HE had the bad judgement to do a real estate transaction with Rezko. And, he should have known that his staff was talking to the Canadians. It was either bad judgement again or he was lying to us.

I wanted to believe in Obama but he gave me reason not to believe. He has baggage also it seems- just like Hillary and McCain. He can't be the candidate of "change" if he is just as guilty as the rest. They are all politicians.

Hillary and Obama need to run together no matter who is the nominee. Obama says he is the uniter...we shall see.

Posted by: Sue | Mar 5, 2008 11:01:09 AM

only low class, underclass, illiterate folks living in Ohio? haha, it shows

Posted by: LA in Indiana | Mar 5, 2008 10:23:49 AM

Another point, one of Barack Obama's key demographics, white, 25-40 college educated men don't live here any more. They all moved to Atlanta, Charlotte or Denver because there's no jobs in Ohio (or they're Romney republicans making 100K+)

Posted by: ohiogal | Mar 5, 2008 10:08:01 AM

Its such a shame Sue, but if you think blacks sound like children, so be it. I'm sick of the lieing clintons and they have thrown african americans under the bus one time too many. AA's are only useful when the clintons think they're useful.
Interesting how you blame Obama though. Situation normal.
He's black therefore he's at fault.

The United States of whites and latinos....get used to it.

Posted by: LA in Indiana | Mar 5, 2008 10:05:26 AM

It's naive to say race and gender are not a factor. My 40 year old sister and 55 year old manager voted for Hillary because she is a woman (both have master's degree)
My parents who are 65 and 63 voted for Hillary because Barack Obama is black. (both have high school degree)

Posted by: ohiogal | Mar 5, 2008 9:57:16 AM

Black voters saying that they will not vote for Hillary should she become the nominee amaze me. They sound like children- I want my way or I won't play. Obama hurt himself with his connections to Rezko and the Canadians. He has only himself to blame.

Bill Clinton's time as President did more to help the Black community than any other administration in modern times. It seems to me that the black community has betrayed the Clintons not the other way around.

The democrats need to unite- both Hillary and Obama need to be on the same ticket in the general election regardless of who wins the nomination. It would be impressive and progressive to see them work together for the good of the party and the country. The two of them together can win the general election. This country cannot endure McCain/Bush third term.

Posted by: Sue | Mar 5, 2008 9:49:33 AM

when obama won the black states (SC, MD,DC,VA<(et.al.)it was all goog. Now that the rest of America is voting they are racist even though the black voters are voting by race well above white voters.

Posted by: geevill | Mar 5, 2008 9:38:31 AM

get a grip and look at the exit polls, the republican vote in ohio went for obama.your guy outspentus 2 or 3 to 1 and could not close the deal! you can have idaho et al as how many does it take to equal california.go ahead keep pushing ohio proves that the middle will not vote for him.check it out dem that care about national security and this country went 9 to 1 for hillary.on to penn. where its just us dems and if she wins penn he is done.

That's right give me a break...throw the clintons under the bus. One good turn deserves another!

Posted by: LA in Indiana | Mar 5, 2008 9:06:32 AM

Race will always be an issue in this country. White people lie when they say that isn't so. The Bradley effect is in FULL effect. But that's fine, because what OH and TX have done is guarantee John McCain the next president.
I know I will stay home come November, as the clintons have told me blatantly that they do not NEED my vote, and that is fine too. Nothing will bring this party back together, absolutely nothing.

So here's to dooming hillarys inevitability, she is a deceitful liar.
The republican base will come out the woodwork to insure she doesn't win, and that will be just fine with me.
I've already been to the desert and won't be going back, but some of you lol well, some of you will probably be making that trek to the desert.
And now hillary is talking about being aggressive to Venezuela? Its time to suit up Chelsea, Barbara, Jenna, and Mary ain't too old to go either.
Good Luck white america.

Patriot2008 says:
"Clinton won Ohio and Texas because of Rush Limbaugh sending the republicans to vote for her."

Too funny! I imagine hordes of drones lining up at the polls chanting "MUST VOTE FOR HILLARY...MUST VOTE FOR HILLARY...RUSH SAYS SO...RUSH SAYS SO."

Posted by: give me a break | Mar 5, 2008 8:33:00 AM

I'm horrified to read that Obama supporters would even think of voting for McCain in the general election if Clinton wins the nomination! Sounds as if you want to punish the entire country for not voting the way YOU wanted it to! A vote for McCain is a vote against all that Obmama claims he wants to accomplish, which by the way, is most in line with what Clinton wants to accomplish also. I doubt there are many Obama supporters who want to see more of the same politics we've had the last 8 years. But if you want to continue seeing Americans slaughtered in Iraq, children without healthcare and the economy in a shambles, then vote McCain; desert your party just so YOU can say nanny nanny boo boo.

Posted by: give me a break | Mar 5, 2008 8:22:54 AM

Obama won 11 straight wins with the help of black and white voters, what this proves is that obama does not really need the hispanic vote, just the vote of real americans, you know the people who built this country. Limbaugh wants republicans to cross over and vote for clinton over mccain because he knows mccain will win the election this november if the democratic runner is clinton. So Limbaugh is very jovial this morning and so are all the other conservatives.

HILLARY - THE BITCH IS BACK! 2008!!

Posted by: GoBigOGH | Mar 5, 2008 7:59:17 AM

What does it mean? It means the Obama's media allies are going to keep playing the game of suggesting folks who don't vote for Obama are racist. We've seen Brazile, Herbert, and the mayor of Atlanta smear the Clintons with this charge. And now the votes of every Mexican American supporter of Clinton are being smeared with the racist charge ("Why won't brown people vote for black people?" Tim Russert asks.)

When he wins the Democratic nomination, McCain will have to tiptoe, because if he gets aggressive with criticism of Obama, he'll be called a racist. And when President Obama screws up and makes decisions that anger part of the electorate? You guessed it, anyone who shows up at a rally to protest a President Obama action will be smeared as a racist.

Posted by: George | Mar 5, 2008 7:01:13 AM

Unless Hillary surpasses Obama in delegates, he's got it. One ten yard dash does not equate to a touchdown and without question, her campaign is running out of field. Go Obama!

Most of you claiming to be Ohioian voters are following Ted Strickland's endorsement nothing more...(It has been rumoured that she will ask him to be VP)..and you probably unemployed and facing foreclosure at best.

Posted by: FrigidWeather | Mar 5, 2008 6:28:54 AM

My views on all 2008 candidates (Dem or Rep):

1)None of them is a visionary leader of the caliber of Lincoln, Ghandi, MLK Jr. At the end of the day, these candidates are all politicians, who would do or say anything, at any costs to get elected.

I know whoever I vote for will not emerge as Moses II, who will lead us to the Promised Land. I will be grateful if he/she won't drag us into another Iraq quaqmire.

2)Through no fault of his own, BO's racial identity makes him inherently divisive. If elected as president, after about a week's worth of "honeymoon" with the country, he would constantly operate under clouds of suspicion. If he backs policies that appear to be "pro-colored", he would be accused of being racially motivated. On the other hand, he would be called a "sell-out" or Uncle Tom if he backs what appears to be pro-White policies. His attempts to be fair and balanced would be over-analysed through the colored lense of racism.

I would love to believe humanity as a whole, or at least this nation is above and beyond racism. I also think some white voters voted for BO to convince themselves that they are color-blind. Let's face it, most of us are not as un-prejudiced as we think we are. The people of U.S.A. are not borne out of a historical vaccum, and are equally susceptible to vices such as racism or sexism like any other people in this world and in history.

The pragmatist in me will resort to voting for the devil I think I know. Someone who is less likely to run this country (further) into the ground. I am still mulling...

Posted by: tired | Mar 5, 2008 5:50:25 AM

Black people are lying about race.

So Ohio was too close to call was it?

Posted by: geevill | Mar 5, 2008 5:21:23 AM

I'm laughing it up in Indiana!! Me and my wife are voting for Hillary. Why...HA HA HA Rush told us so!

The media decided our republican candidate...so we get to decide your democratic candidate!

Posted by: fatsuperman | Mar 5, 2008 4:41:44 AM

The "Clinton comeback'is the media's fault, you played along with her spreading unconfirmed rumours and speculations for a whole week. The answers from Sen.Obama , his campaign and the Canadian ambassador never made the headlines, collaborating with a shameful smear campaign. Are you happy now, knowing the Democratic Party will have it harder than ever? Keep your objectivity and show both sides of the coin with the same length and coverage. Otherwise, you become puppets of whomever wants to use you.
For example: HRC lied big time on national television saying she had asked to have her 100000 files sent to the White House and the White House said that didn't happen and Ohio people are still voting for that!!??but of course the media didn't cover that in great length either.. the IQ levels in America must be pretty low..in some areas..

Posted by: carmen | Mar 5, 2008 4:39:15 AM

This will not be good for the party. I have been a centrist Republican for 30 years. I have and will vote for Obama because some the old hacks need to go in both parties. However, based on character alone I will vote for McCain over Hillary. I am not a Democrat "right or wrong" type that Hillary seems to attract. Oh yes that and I went to college. She's a fighter but no an achiever on the policy front. BTW: the best take on the phone commercial I heard was Hillary picks up the phone at 3am and says "I'm sorry but Bill is sleeping right now." Second best was a female voice saying "Bill, is it safe for me to come over."

Posted by: NO Billary08 | Mar 5, 2008 4:32:56 AM

Well, the race thing was blown all out of proportion, thanks to Donna Brazile.
Bill Clinton rightly said that Obama's IRAQ-vote RECORD was a 'fairy tale' and she just RAN with the absolute *creation* of hers that Bill Clinton had said this about Obama's -campaign- !

That was irresponsible to the extreme, but she kept at it because she knew it would help unite the black community who, at that point, were still remembering that the Clintons had a long record of support there.

Remember that magazine articles were asking if Obama was 'black enough' and this move by Brazile certainly made him so, and it made the Clintons the Devils who would call a dream a fairy tale -- which they did not.

This was the single most divisive thing that happened in the campaign. And it was intentional. I say that only because she kept repeating it.

While Bill Clinton's remark later about Jesse Jackson having won South Carolina previously was mainly the usual disgusting campaign-spin you hear after any primary loss, even Jackson said that he did not take it as a racist statement. Jackson had won something like 11 states in his run in 1988. I am Chinese, but if my state had a huge population of Chinese and we were all bent on voting for a Chinese candidate, and a Chinese candidate had won our state previously, one could actually talk about it. For some reason, one cannot do that with Obama's community.

NOTE that it's done for Hispanics and Whites. Bill Clinton's remark was the usual stupid spin, and just very unwise, but it wasn't racist.

Obama is actually as 'white' as he is 'black' ... The problem with our mixed culture is that one is too often defined by many by the visual characteristics. Obama happens to be extremely good looking and has a beautiful voice, but the racial divisions created more by Brazile and cohorts made this much more about race than it would have been. The acrimony caused was awful. This broke people up into conscious camps.

YET, it's no surprise to me that 20% of the males in this country are biased against blacks. I'm talking about unnecessarily making things worse than they already are. There are articles that indicate there is more bias actually against women when it comes to executive positions. Men usually just don't want to work for women. Lots to to discuss there alone.

Either one of these candidates will have a tough time in the general election for those reasons. Together they'd be dynamite.

Posted by: Andrys B. | Mar 5, 2008 4:24:57 AM

Merle said:
"America will go og this election divided more than ever. From now on I am a Republican. At least they think for the nation."

Yeah. They think; they think about how they can tear this country to shreds and divide the financial spoils among themselves. ("You are the haves, and the have-mores. I call you my base." That wasn't Bush speaking, that was the GOP speaking through Bush.)

By god man, wake up! McCain is proposing to do the exact same stuff Dubya did. I'm tired of it, and so is the rest of the country.

We need peace, rest and stability while we focus on somehow regaining the 1 to 1,5 percent GDP growth per year we've lost now that it seems that those percentages over the past 5 years or so were inflated by 'Spending By Mortgage'...

HILLARY will win the nomination. It is just a historical fact - the candidate who wins Ohio- wins the Presidency. Obama peaked, but after tonight, it's all down HILL for him. Hillary is a resilient fighter, and can survive the GOP attack machine. When under pressure-- Sen. Hillary soars and succeeds!!! She can win the Presidency for Democrats !! GO HILLARY! YES WE WILL !!!!

This number show that america is a nation divied along race line, age, and gender. On one side the white (not overall racist unless competed with), the Asian and the latino who hate blacks . The racism between white and black go back to history, the asian and the latino racism underscore their incapacities to complete in the high rank of the society. the gender line is clear: women who are ready to elect a women only because she is a woman welcome to the feminism world. the old factor bring us back to history and the nostalgy of "white only".

America will go og this election divided more than ever. From now on I am a Republican. At least they think for the nation.

You don't have to agree with the way others have voted but to dismiss the intelligence and reasoning of the individual behind the vote is degrading to us all. Hillary Clinton is the only candidate with COJONES to face our economic problems, provide real universal health care coverage, end the war in Iraq and provide a comprehensive immigration reform.

Barack Obama is not electable after losing big states like CA, FL, OH, NY, TX and next PA or 188 ELECTORAL VOTES of the 270 needed to win the US presidency in November.

I not surprise by the way things went in Ohio, They have a reputation to keep up. As the swing state for Bush in 04, I would not expected much from them for Obama. But I do think a backlash will comefrom the Black community will be a
price to pay for Hillary. If nominated. Her and Bills Tactic have not gone unnotice. I have seen a few emails that suggest that we sit out the November Elections if she is nominated. If not vote for McCain. Wonder if she and the democractic party ready for that to happen.

Those who inhabit the Obamasphere imagine we live in a post-partisan, post-racial America. Clearly, the reality is that party, race and gender still matter. The hard reality is that campaigns have to deal with reality. This reality does not bode well for Obama in the general. His heavy reliance on overwhelming sweeps of the African American vote in several states, which makes up a big piece of the democratic primary electorate in several key states, but a much smaller percentage of the general electorate, will not work in the general. Also, his wins in red states like Idaho and Kansas are unlikely to translatr into post-partisan victories in the general.
Let's get real about this election dems! We are bot going to win on Obama's gauzy rhetoric about turning the page. Let's focus on the issues like the economy, health care, energy policy... On those issues, Hillary wins!

HILLARY WON HILLARY WON HILLARY WON!!!!
Lets not talk about Race here, Blacks are voting for Obama in huge numbers, something lopsided. So don't talk about race or whites supporting Hillary more than Obama. If that was true then Obama would have been long gone. I am of Latin descent and would love for Hillary to win the elections. I don't vote because of race or gender or age, I vote for who i feel would work harder for us Americans, the person that will put us in the right direction.

HILLARY 08

There is no scandal in Chicago. That is another of Clinton's trumped up charges. Obama represents a completely different America than has ever shown itself to the world. But it is, in fact, an America that we have become without knowing it. We need precisely this person for this time in our history. Hillary Clinton does not represent a first possible woman president. She represents the wife of the last male Democratic president. She will lose to John McCain going away and we will be in deeper trouble than we have been in in any of our lifetimes.

Obama did not win Ohio is because he's BLACK. That's the truth. He did not get
the vote and that's cool but lets tell the truth. The reason he did not get the Hispanic vote in Texas was because of the same reason. For some reason
the Hispanic believe that a White American will take of them and listen
to their issues. Race did play a BIG role in todays primaries. One day Americans will look past color I just hope I'm alive to see that day

the clintons clear signal in this election....they don't need black voters. So it looks like black voters should just stay home in November. The clintons don't need the black vote, let them do it themselves, and govern the united states of whites and latinos.

and obama pulls sexist dudes. please. ask about gender .

Mississipi next week will be the race primary.

Dem voters are 35% black 65% white. Its a closed primary with registration long past so no republican or independent interferrence this time.

If whites split 70-30 for Clinton (which I think they will) and blacks split 85-15 for Obama, Hillary wins.

Just a thought.

The biggest mistake Senator Obama has made is to claim himself too good to be true...He wants to jump but not even knowing how to walk... He should work on what he is in now and have an approved public record to show America he is true One.. He promises the change in W.H. but he couldn't even fix the biggest politics scandal in his home town - Chicago for 17 years......

First of all, if you believe you can trust the Clinton's you are the one who is naive. Secondly, Bill Clinton won his two campaigns on the back of African-American voters. The Clinton campaign has now turned the tables and used the race-card themselves in a blatant power grab. From his comments at the end of Obama's win in North Carolina, to her campaign's attempts to "color" Obama's skin in their commercials in order to make him seem "blacker" to white voters, they have demonstrated a cynicism that is stunning. Under no circumstances and at no time will I vote for a Clinton in the next election. And guess what? They need my vote. I am a white male and have voted Democratic in every election since 1972.

Congrats OH TX dems. You've done nothing but help John McCain. Hillary Clinton will never be president. It will either be President Obama or President McCain. And you're pushing the latter.

ps: i'm black -- and black people are just lying when they say race is irrelevant. that's a crock.

Posted by: tony | Mar 5, 2008 1:33:41 AM

these numbers = everyone is lying. blacks and whites are racially voting. this doesnt mean the candidates are unqualified. it just means that identity politics mean something.

I used to be one those who was prepared to vote for hillary if she becomes the nominee. But after today,if she wins this nomination, it's John McCain all the way for me. And I will do it proudly.

Hello from Canada. You are keeping this ex-Californian (family home in Lee, Illinois)yet many generational Canadian now .... very interested up here.

If I may indulge, details are important. As we listen to both Candidates, we do like to hear some details now and then. Hope we didn't meddle too much in your election :-)

Rush the "junkie" Limbaugh is going to out smart the media and Howard Dean's Dem Party. Hillary will win because of Republicans votes and America will fall to its knees with another Republican President. God help Us!! The media is out to lunch.

This should not surprise anyone. Race was not a big issue until Obama's speeches started sounding like a mixture of Martin Luther King, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Huey Newton, Malcolm X, and Al Farrakhan. Apparently, he thought black people couldn't notice his ethnic background, so he began TALKING black. Two months ago, I'd have voted for Obama, but not now.

I am an Ohio voter too and am proud to be an Ohioan. Today's results prove that Ohioans are grounded. We are not swayed by empty rhetoric. We can see through empty promises and clearly are independent thinkers. Kudos to all Ohioans. Thank you for showing your independent spirit and not go out and vote for a candidate just because it is the fashionable thing to do!

No one can win general election without being able to win big states, it is that simple.

What you will see tonight is that people start to get tired of the empty talks. After you hear the same talk again and again, the only thing left in poeple's impression is the emptiness.

I'm ashamed to be from Ohio today for the first time EVER.

At least, I suppose, my county did not vote for another lying, cheating, self-serving Clinton.

Posted by: Distressed In OH | Mar 5, 2008 12:57:54 AM

Clinton's comment that only she and McCain had sufficient experience was intended as a clear signal to Republicans to cross over and vote for her in the primary (since McCain was already a done deal).

It worked. We all know we can always trust the Clintons to do whatever it takes to win. Where's the surprise? Sleaze wins.

It would be cool to find out what the voting poll is like if we have this type of chance by voting for Bill Clinton to become a first "Lady" in male term ...or to vote for Obama's wife for becoming the first African-American First Lady.

That would be fun voting poll!!

Hillary's win is Ohio is the result of smear campaign tactics, period. Fan the fear of other race and religion, and making scandal with assistance from Canada. This country is so doomed. Corrupt dealings? Who can beat the Clintons on that charge. All Hillary has been doing is to tearing others down and chant her so called 'life-long' experiences...

Posted by: hubbs | Mar 5, 2008 12:15:33 AM

Ohio screwed up the last Presidential race, why not this one too?

Posted by: dennis from TC | Mar 5, 2008 12:14:36 AM

So Hillary attracts the racist elements of this supposedly "Progressive Party".

Posted by: Patriot2008 | Mar 5, 2008 12:13:38 AM

Clinton won Ohio and Texas because of Rush Limbaugh sending the republicans to vote for her.
