Richardson on Superdelegates Last Month: Vote the Way Your State Votes (Oops)
March 21, 2008 2:54 PM
Superdelegate and new Obama-backer Gov. Bill Richardson told the New York Times
in February that a superdelegate's vote "should reflect the vote of my state, it should represent the vote of my constituency. It shouldn’t be because you’re a fund-raiser or a big-shot delegate. Superdelegates should reflect their state or constituency. If superdelegates decide this nomination, it’s going to look like big-shot politicians and fat-cats decided who should be president."
Er…Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, won New Mexico, Governor.

I gotta tell you since she lived in Kansas, Seattle and Hawaii I am really kind of hesitant to believe that she spent a lot of time indulging in racial and ethnic slurs....
But then again I doubt the premise and context of his speech.

Richardson has said that he's thrilled with all the attention he's received since he dropped out of the race. This is a guy that is more than happy to take the No 2 slot.
He doesn't care what the will of the people in his state is.
Regardless, of who endorses Obama there are thousands daily that he's losing and they won't be back.
Wonder if he ever took his Grandma to church with him? Actually she's still living does he even stay in touch? Oh right he had a campaign stop there once. But then again she was only a "typical white grandmother"

To- Disappointed with Gov
I agree with you- I think Pelosi has her own agenda- not sure what it is yet. Maybe she thought she would get a vice president or cabinet position from Obama.
Now I think she sees with all of his blunders lately that he cannot win in the general election against McCain. But that's even better for her because if he loses she can run for president herself in 4 years.
Or she's supporting him because she thinks she will be able to push him around and she knows that she can't push Hillary around.
Or she's just clueless!

The New York Times, February 23, 2008: “In a call last week, Mr. [Bill] Richardson feigned shock to Mr. Obama that he had prevailed in the District of Columbia primary, a teasing reference to Washington’s heavily black population. The two men shared a giggle, and then it was down to business.”
Geraldine Ferraro said Obama has done well because he is black and she has to leave the Clinton campaign! While Obama and Richardson crack jokes and laugh about Obama winning in D.C. because Obama is half black and D.C. has many black voters.
After Geraldine Ferraro’s comments Obama said: "I don't think Geraldine Ferraro's comments have any place in our politics or in the Democratic Party. They are divisive. I think anybody who understands the history of this country knows they are patently absurd," he told the Allentown Morning Call. "And I would expect that the same way those comments don't have a place in my campaign they shouldn't have a place in Senator Clinton's either."
Following Obama’s logic, Richardson does not have any place in our politics or in the Democratic Party. Obama must believe he and Richardson are divisive. Obama believes his laughing and Richardson’s comment on the D.C. black vote is patently absurd. Obama apparently must feel there is no place in his campaign for Richardson’s comments or his own promotion of such comments. Obama should reject Richardson’s comment and make a public apology for laughing instead of disagreeing and correcting him. Shame on you again Obama.

Disappointedwithgov,
You are right. I think Pelosi has a strategy like you said.
She is leaning to Obama that she knows if Obama won she would take over in the next 4 years.

That is hilarious. Did someone actually post the polling results from Indiana from a month ago?! Lame.

To Gov. Richarson, the democrats will never stop fighting against each other as long as people like him and Obama play dirty politics. He waits to see who was ahead so he would choose the one he thought could be best for him not the Country. I'm glad Obama has him. The Clintons were very good to him and see his repayments. Loyalty should mean something. Obama hasn't shown any loyalty for most of the citizens in this Country and no loyalty for this Country. I put Richardson in the same boat. If Obama wanted to bring all of us together in this Country, why did he sat for 20 years listening to this Country and most its people damned?

I thought Obama had already announced Vice President Oprah! The Rev. Wright issue may die down now but it will come back. There is too much there. The church has an aggressive Africa First agenda. Check out its web site and its mission statement/principles. Also expect to see info coming out on Obama's political connections thru his cousin in Kenya and his relationship with the Weatherman Underground in Chicago. He may be the Democratic nominee but he is no longer electable as POTUS. This is really doing major damage to the Democratic party which is coming off among Republicans and more and more Independents as the party that can't shoot straight because it is too busy chasing moonbeams. If he gets the nomination it will be a pyrrhic victory. Clinton supporters will not riot but they will probably not vote for him in huge numbers. If Clinton gets the nomination and it results in AA rioting at the convention and elsewhere (as has been threatened), Dems will be destroyed for the next generation. Clinton will support Obama in the GE and campaign for him but it will do no good.

Bill Richardson's decision to go with Obama just prove that every superdelegate should and have the obligation to vote independently and not bound by the popular vote. It's something Hillary has been saying for months but Obama was against it from the get go but now feels its ok. Obama wants to have it his way everytime.

lol, I give up Vanessa, you know more about polls than anyone else in the world. How do you think they conduct polls? They call people in the state and ask who they would vote for. This AOL straw poll is doing the exact same thing only online.
Posted by: Jay | Mar 21, 2008 5:10:33 PM
Vanessa, you're missing the point. It is a straw poll, it takes a quick reading of the current temperature of the political landscape, and right now over 152,000 people have voted, and you can only vote once, and Hillary is ahead in almost every state. I am quite sure when the new Indiana polls come out, Hillary will be in the lead. She has a great ally in Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana.

I think it would be Keith Olbermann's worst nightmare if Hillary won the nomination. Can you say special comment. Have you noticed he is on at 8-10-12 and 2. Could they give Obama anymore hype?
Posted by: Vi | Mar 21, 2008 4:53:10 PM
No Vanessa, stop backpedaling, you said he gave 250K to the church, you never wrote community. So if you left it out as a typo, how is that my fault?
Posted by: Jay | Mar 21, 2008 4:39:39 PM
Vanessa-Did you read Trapper's article? So what do you think of Richardson's words? Oh, sorry, you're an Obama supporter. You and Richardson's words mean exactly what they DON'T say, correct? Just words, Wright?

Too bad. Butlet's face it : the Democrats are going the way of '72. Another rainbow coalition, another defeat. God ! And I thought we had a chance to dethrone the Republicans. How naîve I was. Guess my wote will now be going to a real american heroe : John McCain.

Golly Vanessa, there you go again, The Indiana polls you quoted are over a month old, a lifetime in politics. Newer polls show Hillary ahead. The latest AOL straw poll show her 17 points up out of 2,570 voters. Not looking good for Obama at all in Indiana, Kentucky, PA & She just tied him in NC.

Richardson and Kerry both had psychology problem.
They should follow the voters as their their state did, now who did they vote for?
Posted by: golfgirlusa | Mar 21, 2008 4:28:54 PM
Does Obama have anyone competent on his team?
Seems like he has attracted all of the political castaways?
And they all seem to view Obama as their vehicle through which to exact revenge over their former failures!
Wow, what a great starting point. A campaign which is rotten to the core.
OBAMA NEEDS TO DROP OUT NOW!

Wright's visiting some Divinity school on Mar 29th in Texas for a Black State of the Church award being conferred on him. He is on his way in a paddleboat from Hawaii.
