Richardson: Some Clinton Advisers Imply 'My Only Value' Is as a Hispanic
March 21, 2008 5:25 PM
In an interview about his endorsement today of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson seemed to suggest that he didn't like what he was hearing -- some of it race-related -- from the Clinton campaign.
"I resent the fact that the Clinton people are now saying that my endorsement is too late because I only can help with Texans -- with Texas and Hispanics, implying that that's my only value," he told CNN's John King, as noticed by ABC News' most excellent Jennifer Parker. "You know, that's typical of some of his advisers that kind of turned me off. And I see a positive thrust by Senator Obama and his people and want to bring the country together."
Richardson added that he has "enormous respect for the Clintons. If she's the nominee, I'll fight very hard for her."

The guy is trying to take Hispanic voters away from Clinton by trying to stir up hurt feelings among Hispanic people. Hey, it worked for Obama.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson should be more carefull about what he says. He does not show any class. When he endorsed senator Obama, I thought, "How did he or is he going to get?" Anybody who is willing to support Obama, a 20 year active church member of the controversial anti-America church is out of mind. They must have been bought out.

What price, turncoat? Silly rabbit, it's the VP spot.
When those who pulled the lever for a stupid man that is dumber than most American. I always wonder, how could they?
Now, the BO camp would accept a turncoat like that, it makes me wonder about their stand on integrity. When, not if, BO announces "turncoat Richardson" to be the VP, America, remember this and ask if you would want the "only Hispanic turncoat" so close to the throne?

I feel sorry for Richardson,he is being used and does not see the real scheme.I do not know what Clinton's people may have said(Iam a supporter of hers but not a fan of everyone that works her campaign).I do not want him to feel let down when he realizes to the extent that the Bo camp is using him.I would love to know what they promised him,it must have been good.

You can not in good conscience accuse Richardson of being a sell out because he put the country's interest before the interest of a friend. That just makes no sense.
Secondly, I double dog dare anyone to find one statement made by Rev Wright that is without merit, is percieved to be anti-American (he served in the military and as a public servant) or racist. I want you to provide accurate proof that Wright/Obama's church is racist, will not welcome all visitors from all walks of life, does not accept gays, or people from all backgrounds and walks of life using facts.
All this not relevant to the run for the presidency but I want you to get to the root on the reason you won't vote for Obama and realize it has nothing to do with his policies, his integrity or his faith. Just go ahead and vote for who you want as is your right but you should stop being a hypocrite. Remember -- What goes around comes around.

Gov. Richardson is Judas! Mr. Carville was right about his assessment. He is no different to Obama who continues to lie to the American people and to name a few NAFTA; REZKO; PATRIOTISM; PLAGRIARISM; RELATIONSHIP WITH WRIGHT..
Obama thinks that race card will be his advantage but he forgot there are more white voters than blacks. He might have fooled 80 percent of his own color but white voters are not blind afterall he attended to a Racist church for over 20 years. What would that make Obama? Guilty verdict. Why would you attend a Racist church if you are not one? 20 years of deception to his political life and it's just coming out now? What happened to honest journalistic reporting from mainstream media? America wouldn't be in this primary turmoil if media did their part. ABS NEWS really did their homework and I thank them for breaking the news to the American people. Now the primary will never be the same. Obama will never win the General if ever he is the nominee. Racism comes both ways - Whites and Blacks and this time Blacks have been caught preaching racism and other despicable words. What a sad day for AMERICA. GOD BLESS AMERICA. By the way Bill Clinton doesn't need to question Obama's patriotism - AMERICA ALREADY KNOWS HE DOESN'T HAVE ONE AND HE'S BEEN JUDGED BY AMERICA!

anne, you are correct that the only reason richardson will be brought in as a vp candidate is to bring in hillary's hispanic voters.
however, it will not work.

I read a lot of blogs, and to tell you the truth, most Hispanics posting don't give a hoot about Bill Richardson and whom he endorses. They are very loyal to the lady they know has been fighting for minorities and lower income people for her entire political career. Loyalty, that's a strange concept these days.

"Strawmen" should be on every election ballot. Seems like there are always more of them around than real people.
George Bush uses them all the time. Sets up a "strawman" argument by saying "some say", "I heard", some in this country", there are some that might say", and on and on.
Richardson does the same thing here. Sets up the "strawman" (some Clinton people) then attacks it. Hard to lose an argument with a "strawman".
Obama's campaign would be lost without "strawmen". Just as Dubya would.

Hispanics not impressed by Richardson’s support of Obama
As a recently retired Hispanic Officer, I am not impressed with Gov. Richardson’s support of Sen. Obama. Obama’s proven poor ethics and covert racist views scare Hispanics. Being in the military, I know what historical truly means and Obama’s speech was a political survival speech. Obama’s speech did not sway Hispanics. In Hispanics view, Richardson is indorsing Obama solely because of his hope to become Obama’s running mate. Hispanics will never forget the Clinton’s providing jobs for eight years. Also, Hispanics will never forget Sen. Clinton support of the Hispanic community since her was in her 20s. For Richardson to be a longtime friend of the Clinton’s, his support is based on politics and shows Hispanics that he is like Obama. Both are seen as users and not as real friends.
Hispanics see the half Hispanic Gov. Richardson as a traitor and career opportunist.

So you're offended by the feeling you got from the Clinton campaign that you are only good for Hispanic votes, huh? Got news for you, Richardson.....you're being used by the Obama campaign to bring in the hispanic vote. My guess is you'll be offered VP, because Obama can't otherwise get Hillary's supporters in a GE.

This guy is a moron. How can he say "if she is the nominee I fill fight for her?" Richardson has been trying to force Clinton out since before Texas and Ohio. He said if she didn't win those states she should get out. He obviously wasn't expecting her to win!! So now that the polls have turned her way he makes his move in hopes of stopping her?? What a joke this guy has turned out to be! The race thing is getting really old, the more it is played the more it is turning people to McCain.

I would like someone to look at all the pledged super delegates and see if they voted as their constituants did, which is what BHO and many democrats want to happen, or if they voted independantly. Got some hypocrits here, to name a few...Richardson for BHO, new Mexico to Clinton; Kerry and Kennedy for BHO, Mass. to Clinton.

I was planning to vote for a democrat this fall, but after seeing the controversy over wright, I would rather vote for McCain. Obama is not patriotic. Democrats will lose the general election thanks to the fiasco over Michigan and Florida. Bill Richardson's endorsement is not going affect this election, in fact, McCain has a good chance to pick up Latinos, Jewish, Women and citizens over 60. In fact, there is a good chance that McCain will pick up California.

This is pretty simple. The Wright affair and the Rezko trial are causing Obama's base to erode. That base is passionate about the race issue. His campaign will keep finding ways to hit that button. The best thing the rest of us can do is yawn.
It isn't that the conversation isn't important, it is that this isn't a conversation. It is a one-sided attempt to guilt us into voting for Obama. Ignore it. We won't be able to have a real conversation about race during a presidential election.
Barack Obama isn't the Manchurian Candidate; he is the Kareoke Candidate picking his songs from a playbook. He does that well. It doesn't mean he is a good musician.

Roger Miller. I agree with you. Sadly, I can't see anyway that Hillary can win the nomination as Ms.Obama/Gore/Dean and Pelosi are pulling the strings form behind and denying a FL and MI re vote. The Democrats have shot themselves in the foot. Obama will be the nominee, but, NEVER EVER the president.Wiith his true colors exposed Obama will be wiped out at the general election. The republican machinery will likely find more Wright links and incendiary stuff. Obama is done.sad sad, I wish the last two weeks never came and he never had those bosom ties to Wright. 4 more Bush years, the war and no universal health care.Sigh! My family of 5 will hold our noses, cringe and vote for McCain. I will do whatever I can to keep Obama from taking the oath.
