Wright Scrubbed from Obama Website

March 16, 2008 2:04 PM

Rev. Jeremiah Wright's testimonial to his former parishioner is still out there in Google-cache-land , but as Sweetness & Light first noticed, Wright is now gone from the official Obama website.

The vanished endorsement read as follows:

"Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
"Senior Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, IL
"Senator Obama’s pastor

"I’m concerned with healthcare; the war in Iraq; the high rates of recidivism in our criminal justice system; the poor condition of the Illinois public school system. Many of the resources that go to support programs such as for those living with HIV/AIDS are now being spent to fund the war. We have to communicate… I support Barack because of his incarnated faith -- his faith made alive in the flesh. He reaches across all faith communities and even to those who have no faith at all. He is building a community where everyone has worth. That kind of faith is not easy to find in 2007 and a man like Barack is a rarity."

Obama in the White House ? I guess the Stars And Strips Flags will be taken down in Washington as Obama refuses to wear a flag in his lapel or even place his hand over his heart when the national anthem is played. Ask who's picture is on the wall at his Texas headquarters. Hey his wife has never been proud or felt good about America until her husband ran for president. Obama And wife are only interested in power just like Hillary and Bill Clinton. All 4 should be deported along with the illegals that eat up our tax money.

Obama sure turned his back on an old friend ( Wright ) in short order. Shows what he thinks of people or friends who get in his way. Why won't the press use his middle name ?. They use Hillary's all the time. Must be they are trying to hide to hide the fact he's a Muslim. And in this corner we have the Clinton's who looted the White House. Hillary stays with a man who sat in front of the world and lied about an affair. The worst part is that he never addmited or ask forgiveness the people of the U.S.A. These two nogoods should never even considered for the leadership of our country. Where has all the common sense gone in our country ? This country is one flush away from going down the toilet. God Save The Our Country Because We Sure Can't.

Obama said this is old politic, don't fall into the trap of guilt by association.

Then whey Obama's campaign held Hillary accountable for Ferraro's words. This is double standard.

How narrow are you people? If you're Catholic, does everything the Pope says apply to your beliefs? Remember, these is a seperation between church and state for a good reason. Keep it seperate! You'd think not but from all the comments here, you'd think that Sen. Obama had said this himself. Check out Rev. Haggarty's sermons or any other the other extremists on the right side of the dial. You could pick them to pieces. Please, people, think of hope and the future, not some past speeches by an associate. Have some positive thoughts for our world rather than constantly spewing negativeness. Get a future! Support Obama!

It's time for Sen.Obama to admit that his pastor's venomous words are anti-Amercan. Not only are they obscene but they paint a picture of the senator as someone who doesn't mind being connected to someone who is anti-American. And he has the "audacity" to run for the President of the United States of America!

There are still plenty of us out here who are proud of our country and will stand to defend it. The Senator needs to make his case soon as to whether he would be loyal in the defense of this nation.

The hate and animosity spewing from the mouth of the man in the pulpit must have made our enemies cheer and applaud.

If this was not such a serious matter it would be funny wathing the Obamanites trying to divert your attention from Reverend Wright back to Clinton by referencing Spitzer. What a reach.

This is serious for democrats as the republicans have now in his book in writing his admiriation and closeness to Reverend Wright, He calls him his mentor, names his book after a sermon of the Reverend, and said he prayed with him regarding running for president.

Then he says he didn't know (a lie) that he gave inflamatory sermons. FOR TWENTY YEARS, give me a break.

He knew, and Michelle his wife obviously believes this Reverend because she has not been proud of America (wonder where she got that).
She cannot be our first lady with that attitude.

Then he lied on tv. Lied - to Keith Olberman and everyone else, that he didn't know about the sermons until now.

He is either the most clueless person on the planet or he lied. Either way Barak did this to himself.

Karl Rove or Hillary Clinton did not cause this crisis for Obama, he did by exhibiting BAD JUDGEMENT FOR CONTIUING A RELATIONSHIP THIS BITTER THIS LONG.

This from a capaign that pulls the race card over the dumbest stuff. This always happens to the self righteous. Barak is just a man, and apparently one who condones hate, racism and bigotry.

NO to Obama
No to Mccain
Yes to Hillary-she is the only hope for this country now.
Only the issues matter-and Hillary runs circles around obama and mccain.
she has the best command of the issues and she has told us how she will pay for them. so if you are in need of healthcare-Hillary
if you want to change the student loan policy-hillary
if you want the gas prices to come down-hillary
if you want the economy up and running again-hillary
if you want this war to end responsibly-hillary
the media will not give this lady a fair break-and she is still the most qualified to be president-for people talking about the earmarks-she has been trying to help the people of ny, after 9ll-go tell someone in ny-that she should not have done that.
hillary has been working her whole political life to help black,white,latino,poor,all-
for the children who now have healthcare because of what she did for them-go and tell them-yeah, but she hasn't released her taxes.
stay on the issues voters.
and to the voters in pa, nc, and indiana
please go and look at hillary on the issues-and vote hillary.
obama copies everything hillary has done. axelrod and co. convinced obama to run-just to be spoilers to hillary-because of personal reason.
Lets not cut off our nose to spite our face.
hillary 08
why am I promoting hillary so much on forums like this. because no one in the media will. today she gave a speech about what she will do to end the war. listen to it good.-I know the obama people are-because they will be copying as much of her speech as possible. she can't tell you they are copying her. I can

Does Wright even know the truth!

First President Bush has given more money to Aids research then any Lib!

The President has nothing to do with local schools, but Wright and Obama as a state senator could of done something.

Don't you love libs who keep saying things need to be fixed but yet never fix them, that is because they want control, and if they fix them they would lose power!

Obama is lying to us again.

Posted by: Illie | Mar 17, 2008 10:47:34 AM

Well, we have now seen Obama, look straight into the camera and lie to the American people. This is NOT the first time he has done this. How very convenient that Obama claims that while Wright spewed his hate of American and Whites, Obama was so very conveniently absent. Next thing you know, Obama will claim the dog ate his homework.

Posted by: Gypsy | Mar 17, 2008 8:56:24 AM

What a difference Twenty (20) years can make when determining the truth about Obama. Use this time frame as a measuring stick each time Obama answers a question about his long term relationships with the following undesirable people.

* Tony Rezko who is presently on trial for using his political contacts to shake down companies that wanted to do business with the state of Chicago.
Adhmi Auchi. London-based Iraqui billionaire who recently gave Rezko 3.5 million dollars.

* Members of the Weathermen William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers
was the founder of this notorious and violent group of the sixties. This group “actually” bombed the US Pentagon !

* Farrahkan. A black extremist who was honored by Obama’s church and given a lifetime achievement award.

* Rev. Wright who was both the minister and mentor for Obama . Also it was Rev. Wright who gave the name for Obama’s book: The Audacity of Hope. (This book left out: God Dam America.)

The Twenty year yard stick will show that Obama is either extremely naïve or a very cleaver politician who has been able to fool a large number of people.

If this subject was not brought up now, it certainly would be in the general election. It is best for the democrats to get to the truth now rather than later. The republicans will not permit Obama to get off by giving a plausible answer. Good example: Obama claims that he never heard his pastor give hateful sermons! How can this be possible over a 20 year period? His supporters try to make Obama not responsible for Rev. Wright’s hateful sermons by listing religious leaders who support McCain. ( This is comparing Apples to Oranges.) Obama sat and LISTENED to racial sermons for twenty years. Obama knew this would happen even before he became a member. How? The Trinity United Church of Christ has a 10 point Vision. This can be found on the web or in their published mission statement. #4 states: A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. (Notice it is not a commitment to America) Hence God Dam America.

it is now officially impossible for obama to win in November

Posted by: chris | Mar 17, 2008 4:24:07 AM

words, just words.
Words have meaning and Obama's pastor gave him the line to his speech. Influences him.
Now we all know and Obama states the pastor is like an old uncle whose words are meaningless?
Naturally he knew his pastors rhetoric.
Years ago he could've left the church.
He denounces him after the fact.
If roles were reversed and Hillary's church was this way she would have to quit the race. no question.

Posted by: Janet | Mar 17, 2008 1:00:32 AM

Obama didn't have a father in his life. Is it wrong that he gravitated toward a minister that showed concern for him? Who is Hillary and McCain's pastor, uncles, and friends who preach? Let's see videos of their sermons. Where are they?

Posted by: sandy | Mar 17, 2008 12:38:45 AM

So, Obama has scrubbed any reference to his once-glorified "spiritual mentor", Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Why, that's exactly what was done in the old Soviet Union.

Not to worry, Senator Obama, we'll remember Rev. Wright's name.

"Change we can be proud of" indeed.

Out of sight, out of mind? Do not count on it!
By the way Jarrett...blah, blah, blah..give it a rest.

Posted by: pp | Mar 17, 2008 12:14:24 AM

No matter how much Obama tries to distance himself from the pastor who married him, baptized his children and who sermonized before Obama's family for 15 plus years, this is not going to play well in conservative, moderate or liberal white America.

Obama is in big trouble, and I don't see how rational Democrats who support him can expect him to hold up in a general election.

His ghosts are blowing the doors off his closet: Obama says one thing about Nafta to the American people while his aides whisper something else to foreign governments; Obama professes limited financial exposure to Tony Rezko but this weekend he has been exposed as financially tighter than he first claimed that he was; Obama backed and voted for an energy bill that allows Big Oil to rake in billions while Americans are paying higher costs at the pump; Obama's preacher is an avowed racist but Obama giggles it off by claiming he's like an uncle who has a propensity to say embarrassing things; Obama claims he's a different kind of politician who wants to be transparent, positive and bring people together but his campaign mails our flyers that are negative and willfully attempt to mislead the public; Obama says he'll have the U.S. out of Iraq in X amount of days, but an aide tells the a member of the media off-the-record that Obama's plan is a best case scenario that will not likely happen.

If the Dems put Obama anywhere on the ticket, I'm voting McCain, and I while my country has many faults, I cannot vote for a man whose spiritual leader shouts "God Damn America!" while Obama whispers "Yes We Can.

MariaWr,
If this were Hillary you would be screaming from the rooftops about it. Don't be a hypocrite. If I ever heard a priest or a pastor talk like this I wouldn't be going back to that church.

Posted by: J | Mar 16, 2008 9:30:40 PM

It is about judgement and the fact that he lied about this as well as Rezko and the Canadian Nafta thing.

Posted by: J | Mar 16, 2008 9:27:48 PM

Funny, he removes Wright's endorsement after the cat is out of the bag.

Posted by: J | Mar 16, 2008 9:19:20 PM

America is divided. Racism is still a very real undercurrent. But Jesus died for all, even the hypocrites trying to spin this election with a moral gyroscope, who are throwing rocks in glass houses. Check yourself. Can you throw the stone?

Posted by: Jarrett | Mar 16, 2008 8:54:05 PM

If you are culling Senator Obama from the presidential pool because of lies and guilty associations, I hate to tell you but ALL the candidates have serious problems in this area as well.

I don't think even Jesus could "pass" the test some of you claim is necessary. It seems the test changes depending upon whom you are discussing. When it comes to lies, the Clintons are legend, yet they have suddenly "passed" the test that Obama hasn't? Where is this test posted?

Come on folks, give me a break here. AND before you toss out the old "she has been throughly vetted and there is nothing else to find", please don't underestimate the power of the Clintons to embarass themselves and their supporters. After all, Bill has been running around for 7 years now without being scrutinized. As to Hillary, it is not too late for the other Hsu to drop.

Why don't we put some of this excess energy into the GENERAL election nominee...McCain?

It is important to make a distinction between Martin Luther King Jr's words and style and Rev. Wright's words and style. MLK's spiritually based Christian speeches did not invoke hate. Rev. Wright's are Afrocentric social action based divisive speeches that are un-Christian. For the record, I do not identify with any religion and I do not believe Senator Obama is a Muslim.

It's not as if every word spoken at this church was inflammatory. I'm sure the pastor spoke mostly about christianity, helping the poor, etc. Obama should not be held responsible for this pastors comments. (But it is politically smart to distance himself) All these radical conservative pundits making a big deal out of this should be smart enough to know that Obama wouldn't be running for president if he didn't love America. Granted they don't have much to grasp at when attacking him, so they grasp at whatever they can. If they can land a punch on him I guess they figure they'll attack people around him. This just in, it's not going to work. President Barack Obama will take office Jan '09.

Posted by: dem in chicago | Mar 16, 2008 5:48:27 PM

USVet,

If Jeremiah Wright has been traveling with Obama then that means the campaign has been paying his bills as they go, providing rooms, and feeding him. I wonder if he was on the payroll? The press needs to dig in on this one. What a way to promote hate messaging, $55 million dollars paid in by Obama supporters to get this type of messaging out. Let's call it the AUDACITY of HOPE. I'm sickened by this matter.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | Mar 16, 2008 5:24:48 PM

Well, I had my hearty chuckle for the day. Hillary's records as first lady can't be released because of National Security!!!!

What???? That is funny. Was another country trying to steal White House pastry recipes?

You know what with Hillary doing all this vice-president work I guess Al Gore was just sitting around having tea with visitors. I sure wish Al would quit being quiet and tell the REAL story about the Clinton-Clinton co-presidency. He must be really thrilled to have been eliminated in the Clinton revisionist history books.

Posted by: Saddened for our Country | Mar 16, 2008 5:20:43 PM

Senator Obama's campaign has raised the race issue and is now suffering blow back. Ferraro's comments were in a small California town's newspaper the Friday before the Mississippi election. Obama's campaign first brought up Ferraro's comments on election day in Mississippi to boost black turnout for him. I have read elsewhere, but have no independent verification, that Obama's team sent copies of Rev. Wright's sermons to African-American churches in South Carolina to turn black support away from Senator Clinton and to Obama. This was done along with misrepresenting Senator Clinton's comments about MLK & LBJ. An archival page of Trinity United Church of Christ lists "12 precepts and covenantal statements" which have been "scrubbed" from their current website. "11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System".
See http://web.archive.org/web/20060411204951/http://www.tucc.org/about.htm
Senator Obama is after all, just another politician.

Posted by: mimi5 | Mar 16, 2008 5:19:47 PM

Look this is not a race issue at all. This is about the truth and judgement.

Obama's campaign smeared Ferraro two weeks after some very politically correct remarks that were really both racial and gender remarks. They were certainly not racist and probably not true in the case of Obama.

McCain accepted endorsements from some charasmatic ministers that have a history of making ill advised remarks. The Obama campaign wants America to believe that these things are comparable to:

Obama's mentor, friend , minister of 20 years makes comments for at least 7 years that are racist....unamerican and even personal to both Bill and Hillary.
This is the same guy that gave Obama the line "Audicity of Hope"

Are we really supposed to believe that Obama never heard any of these really graphic comments? Have his children been exposed to them? When the Reverand traveled with Obama on the campaign trail did he never tell Obama about his outrageous views? When his church gave an award to Farrakan didn't Obama get a clue? Why hasn't he worked to heal this attitude in his church?

He's lying or he's got the worst judgement in the world.
