Wright Scrubbed from Obama Website

March 16, 2008 2:04 PM

Rev. Jeremiah Wright's testimonial to his former parishioner is still out there in Google-cache-land , but as Sweetness & Light first noticed, Wright is now gone from the official Obama website.

The vanished endorsement read as follows:

"Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
"Senior Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, IL
"Senator Obama’s pastor

"I’m concerned with healthcare; the war in Iraq; the high rates of recidivism in our criminal justice system; the poor condition of the Illinois public school system. Many of the resources that go to support programs such as for those living with HIV/AIDS are now being spent to fund the war. We have to communicate… I support Barack because of his incarnated faith -- his faith made alive in the flesh. He reaches across all faith communities and even to those who have no faith at all. He is building a community where everyone has worth. That kind of faith is not easy to find in 2007 and a man like Barack is a rarity."

America is divided. Racism is still a very real undercurrent. But Jesus died for all, even the hypocrites trying to spin this election with a moral gyroscope, who are throwing rocks in glass houses. Check yourself. Can you throw the stone?

If you are culling Senator Obama from the presidential pool because of lies and guilty associations, I hate to tell you but ALL the candidates have serious problems in this area as well.

I don't think even Jesus could "pass" the test some of you claim is necessary. It seems the test changes depending upon whom you are discussing. When it comes to lies, the Clintons are legend, yet they have suddenly "passed" the test that Obama hasn't? Where is this test posted?

Come on folks, give me a break here. AND before you toss out the old "she has been throughly vetted and there is nothing else to find", please don't underestimate the power of the Clintons to embarass themselves and their supporters. After all, Bill has been running around for 7 years now without being scrutinized. As to Hillary, it is not too late for the other Hsu to drop.

Why don't we put some of this excess energy into the GENERAL election nominee...McCain?

It is important to make a distinction between Martin Luther King Jr's words and style and Rev. Wright's words and style. MLK's spiritually based Christian speeches did not invoke hate. Rev. Wright's are Afrocentric social action based divisive speeches that are un-Christian. For the record, I do not identify with any religion and I do not believe Senator Obama is a Muslim.

It's not as if every word spoken at this church was inflammatory. I'm sure the pastor spoke mostly about christianity, helping the poor, etc. Obama should not be held responsible for this pastors comments. (But it is politically smart to distance himself) All these radical conservative pundits making a big deal out of this should be smart enough to know that Obama wouldn't be running for president if he didn't love America. Granted they don't have much to grasp at when attacking him, so they grasp at whatever they can. If they can land a punch on him I guess they figure they'll attack people around him. This just in, it's not going to work. President Barack Obama will take office Jan '09.

USVet,

If Jeremiah Wright has been traveling with Obama then that means the campaign has been paying his bills as they go, providing rooms, and feeding him. I wonder if he was on the payroll? The press needs to dig in on this one. What a way to promote hate messaging, $55 million dollars paid in by Obama supporters to get this type of messaging out. Let's call it the AUDACITY of HOPE. I'm sickened by this matter.

Well, I had my hearty chuckle for the day. Hillary's records as first lady can't be released because of National Security!!!!

What???? That is funny. Was another country trying to steal White House pastry recipes?

You know what with Hillary doing all this vice-president work I guess Al Gore was just sitting around having tea with visitors. I sure wish Al would quit being quiet and tell the REAL story about the Clinton-Clinton co-presidency. He must be really thrilled to have been eliminated in the Clinton revisionist history books.

Senator Obama's campaign has raised the race issue and is now suffering blow back. Ferraro's comments were in a small California town's newspaper the Friday before the Mississippi election. Obama's campaign first brought up Ferraro's comments on election day in Mississippi to boost black turnout for him. I have read elsewhere, but have no independent verification, that Obama's team sent copies of Rev. Wright's sermons to African-American churches in South Carolina to turn black support away from Senator Clinton and to Obama. This was done along with misrepresenting Senator Clinton's comments about MLK & LBJ. An archival page of Trinity United Church of Christ lists "12 precepts and covenantal statements" which have been "scrubbed" from their current website. "11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System".

Senator Obama is after all, just another politician.

Look this is not a race issue at all. This is about the truth and judgement.

Obama's campaign smeared Ferraro two weeks after some very politically correct remarks that were really both racial and gender remarks. They were certainly not racist and probably not true in the case of Obama.

McCain accepted endorsements from some charasmatic ministers that have a history of making ill advised remarks. The Obama campaign wants America to believe that these things are comparable to:

Obama's mentor, friend , minister of 20 years makes comments for at least 7 years that are racist....unamerican and even personal to both Bill and Hillary.
This is the same guy that gave Obama the line "Audicity of Hope"

Are we really supposed to believe that Obama never heard any of these really graphic comments? Have his children been exposed to them? When the Reverand traveled with Obama on the campaign trail did he never tell Obama about his outrageous views? When his church gave an award to Farrakan didn't Obama get a clue? Why hasn't he worked to heal this attitude in his church?

He's lying or he's got the worst judgement in the world.
