Young Girl in Clinton Ad Cuts Obama Ad
March 22, 2008 10:35 AM
The the Obama campaign has cut a youtube video using Casey Knowles -- the young woman from the Clinton campaign's "3 am" ad -- showing how the Clinton campaign took the stock footage of her as a little girl to make it scarier (blue tint, "scratchy voice")….and condemned "the politics of fear that Sen. Clinton uses to drum up votes."
I never thought it was particularly significant or surprising that a young former actress in Seattle would be supporting Obama. But her deconstruction of the Clinton ad is interesting.
What do you think?

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Young Girl in Clinton Ad Cuts Obama Ad:
I am quite upset that you're not posting my comments. They are not offensive or vulgar in any way. Is it because they criticize Obama? Alittle bias over there, maybe?
Oh, and one other thing. It would be interesting to know if this Knowles youngster got paid for the new Obama ad or did she do it out of her passionate support of him?

Those young voters need education. They were addicted in the fantasy. Wake up. We need economy recovery first. Without living happily, little-or-no worry about the material, how can we have hope spiritually?
Hillary is the one turing the economy back to prosperity.

John: If you don't like any of the three candidates just write in a name. I have a friend that's going to do that. All this bickering about MI and FL is because the DNC should not take make the rules of the primary dates. I think the governor is in charge of the state not the DNC. Howard Dean has been a pain for years and he should not have been elected chairman. New Hampshire changed their primary date and he never penalized them. Howard Dean has endorsed Obama and no doubt thought Obama was going to win New Hampshire that is why he didn't penalize that state. I don't like him and never did. The courts are at fault because they should give the benefit to the state. Some of these judges do not have enough intelligence to make proper decisions. But as I said, Howard Dean is the problem.

Sam: Who cares who the little girl was in the footage. She is grown up now but should get lost in the shuffle. She has to be an idiot to make a big song and dance over an ad that she was in when she was small. She needs to get a grip on life. If she wants to vote for Obama she should just do it and keep quiet. Maybe she should get on the platform and campaign for him.

The ad that shows that little girl who is now grown up should get over. Its only an ad and if she wants to vote for Obama she should just do it and stop the fuss. Who cares about her. She was small then. I think Hillary's ad was great. She should be glad she was chosen for the ad. There were other little girls Hillary could have picked. Sometimes people make a big fuss over matters that are trifle. Whoever thought of that ad did a good job.

I think she 'won't eat lunch in this town again'. lol Poor form.

Am I on the right comment thread?
I was fascinated by the ad deconstruction, as it reminded me that voters of Casey's generation are so aware of these things. I suppose it started with MTV and progressed to You*Tube, but I must say I didn't think of the blue filter or the scratchy voice although I was well aware of the pandering to fear meme.
From what Casey had said on news shows earlier, I was expecting something but this was different. Well done! Or as Casey says at the end:
"I approve THIS message. Not the other one."

Hey how many of you will come back a year from now and realize that America no longer exists as a nation but more of a land so divided that we will have gone back to Kings and Queens (both varieties) and our streets filled with drugs and weed - Me thinks America is slip siding away.

Proudamerica2008,why not try to see some great positives in people rather than negatives???I'm ashamed you are American. We should all look into the strentght in ourselves rather than weaknesses.

here's a news flash. Hillary made a speech on a future housing plan today in Philadelphia; what's so strange is that it is so similar to the memo Obama sent out March 2007 to Federal Reserve Chairman and Treasury Secretary. Hillary has a lot of gall and what she banks on is the American people not reading...

I thought of writing an intelligent post but reading previous post decided against it so.....Hillary is a calculating witch, Obama is divisive racist, McCain is war-mongering tired old man. So, now where we folks? How about discussing the issues? Frankly, the Obama and Clinton (and soon McClain) campaigns only are reflective of the stupidity and pettiness exhibited in many of these posts. Continue to point blame at the other person....it is much easier that pointing the finger at yourself as part of the problem...(just like GWB)...

Here's what we have on Obama so far;
1. Lied to the people about the amount he accepted from Rezko - from $150,000.00 now he is saying $250,000.00 (100 thousand dollars difference).
2. Lied when he said he never heard Mr. Wright make racial, radical r anti-American remarks; and then he retracted again and said he heard some.
3. Lied about NAFTA meeting until he got caught.
4. He attended 20 years in a church which preached radical sermons, bigotries and unpatriotism.
5. He is involved with an indicted businessman Mr. Rezko which the case is ongoing and his name will more likely surface anytime soon.
6. He was caught plagiarizing.
7. Another bombshell that should come out soon is about his intimate relationship with a man from Minnesota. This man was silenced by DNC,
Mr. Axelrod and Mr. Obama himself. ABS should dig deep on this bombshell as well so America will know the facts.
8. Obama and his wife are known to be UNPATRIOTIC Americans. Obama refused to patronize the national and pledge allegiance. His wife stated that for the first time she is proud of her country.
9. Obama continues to lie to the American people. What else is he hiding?
THEREIN LIES THE QUESTION. WHO IS "BARACK OBAMA?".
THE PROBLEM IS "NOBODY KNOWS."
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

"I think two politically similar candidates are destroying themselves trying to invent differences. " EXACTLY!!! They have even pointed out themselves how similar they are, as much as people say they want to see change in politics the fact is that sadly people respond to the negativity, childishness and bickering. You are all playing right into the hands of the republican party. Keep it up and well definitely loose this one. I dont understand how can someone who supports Clinton would be so eager to switch sides if she looses the nomination, theyre polar opposites!!!
Posted by: NERD | Mar 24, 2008 2:16:09 AM
I think this young lady is just great! So she got her '15 minures of fame' - good for her! And if anyone bothered to listen to the interviews that she has given, she will be old enough to vote in November and her vote is for Obama - another of the young voters who support Senator Obama and another of the new voters he alone has been able to bring into the fold and into the Democratic party. Hilliarites can knock it all they want -they are just jealous that she is not in the Camp Clinton!

I think it is way past time for us to get back to the issues that people care about. Healthcare, Education, the Economy, Foreign Policies, Homelessness, the price of oil and gas, the cost of food, the housing crises, the interest rate . . . .
Long overdue people . . . can we get the real reporters to stand up and report real news ??????

What does a 17 year old high school white girl and a 46 year old African American have in common?
Answer: No experience and poor judgement!
Posted by: Cooper | Mar 23, 2008 3:56:35 AM
As a Barack supporter, I think the you tube video is a petty low blow and in poor judgement! Frankly, it makes Barack look immature. The three AM issue is about experience and judgement. Using you tube video give credit to Barack's lack of judgement. The video does make Barack look presidential or above politics as usual at all.
Posted by: Weston | Mar 23, 2008 3:48:35 AM
Barack Obama and his campaign keeps talking about unity. It's time for Barack to stop talking and start acting! This ridiculous rebuttal video is yet another tool the media will use to antagonized the Clintonistas. Barack is going to need Bill and Hillary Clinton's and their supporters if he ever want to see inside the White House. Unnecessary, silly pranks like the Knowles video, is only creating deeper wounds that are not going to heal by Novemeber.
Posted by: Parker | Mar 23, 2008 3:45:16 AM
Casey Knowles is looking for 15 minutes more of fame. Barack's campaign gave it to her. Who cares who she is supporting! Knowles "approved" the message with Barack Obama and not the "other". Well, Miss Knowles, got paid for "other". When Knowles leased herself out to be used, she should have the decency to keep her mouth shut! But, I guess fame is a hard drug to overcome.
Posted by: Logan | Mar 23, 2008 3:36:40 AM
It's pretty sad when actresses feel used by the roles they take. This should be a lesson. Actors and actresses don't take work in politics. They make you feel dirty and your parents will never be able to show their faces again.
Posted by: Russell | Mar 23, 2008 1:10:29 AM
lol
That Casey Knowles is awesome!
They should use that ad on national TV.
It is young, energetic and enthusiastic Americans like these who will have to be motivated and mobilized to save the American dream.
President Barack Obama will be a good leader for them.
The old geriatric Clinton and McCain are TOO SET IN THEIR WRONG WAYS to recover America from 8 years of Bush-whacking of the country that is wasting lives and limbs in Iraq, and is now leaving Americans homeless at home.
It was the Clintons Monica-related scandal that denied Al Gore and enabled the destructive Bush.

She sounds like a very inmature kid
crying because she hasn't done more
with her acting.
Posted by: Anne | Mar 22, 2008 9:23:15 PM
She'll be old enough to vote in November.
The '3AM' ad was just out-and-out fearmongering in my opinion, so I agree with the deconstruction. Personally, I think this ad is good, especially the last line - "I approve this ad - and not the other one." Classic.

And this is relevant how? Not news, not even relevant, as I think I heard that this child is only 17, and can't vote.

I was waiting for this to happen. she hasn't hit it big time since she slept on the job years ago. What's next....a takeoff on "Dear Mr. Gable?"...forget it, the rock stars fans wouldn't understand.......and he probably wouldn't either...............

Carville is once again in full flight as de facto spokesperson for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. While his remarks may pass as “just Carville being Carville” among the largely secular political classes, they are in reality deeply hurtful to millions of men and women of Christian faith. His Good Friday likening of Governor Richardson to Judas Iscariot arrogantly reveals the contempt he actually has for the people of our country that he allegedly loves.
Carville’s continued presence in public forum is no longer appropriate. He should take his millions and disappear to commune with his like in some far off land where carnival hucksters go to amuse themselves. Our First Amendment gives him the right to demean any religion he choses, but it does not mean that we have to listen to him.

All these comments show how our media and pundits distort and compromise the truth to have this devisiveness continue within our country and within the two campaigns. so the vast majority of people are misinformed or wrongly misinterpret what the news media reports or what they hear out of the pontificating self inflated pundits.
Unless you are following the campaigns day in and day out and CNN and MSNBC, reading the NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post and all the blogs, plus staying hooked into the websites moment to moment, you only get a partial view or a slanted view of these positions, speeches, gaufs, bashing and conference calls.
The truth is, Barack said what he said in his - speech - watch and listen to the entire speech and then think about what it means and what he is saying with out parsing each word - but hearing the broader concept and appeal to our nationa and our better side.
The truth is - watch the ad by the young girl now working on the Obama campaign that was in the 3:00 am ad by Hillary - What she says is the truth - how she feels - no spin - It is her words.
The truth is Florida and Michigan were punished, both campaigns agreed that they would not campaign and that the votes would not count - The truth is both the legislatures could not come to an agreement and a fair and legal way to revote - This is not Obama's fault but it is disingenuous of Hillary to now say that they should count and accusing Obama of denying these voters their rights - It has only to do with the two states and the DNC and both candidates having the moral integrity to follow the rules and to be honest!
This is why I would never vote for Hillary if she somehow becomes the nominee - because she does not have the moral intergrity to be fair and just- Above all that is what we need in our new president!

She's just going for her 15 minutes of fame.
Posted by: Kitty | Mar 22, 2008 1:58:18 PM
We should judge a person by their actions and not their words. The fact that Obama choose Mr. Wright as his spiritual teacher for 20 years speaks well for actions. Words are easy to manipulate and it is unlikely that Obama's recent speech was written by Mr. Obama anyway. Mr. Obama has a powerful and power hungry staff including his wife that will do anything to get him elected to power. But clearly this man Mr. Obama is not to be trusted with the future of our great country. And regardless that he is fashionably black and that many of you have some desire to prove to yourself or to others that you are not prejudice and that you like black people with an attitude of ‘See, I like black people, I voted for a black person.’ Such an attitude of voting for a person because of their race is the definition of prejudice.

People, just ask yourself what you have got from those who claim they have "Experience". They use this say to convince you that they are the best ones.
The way they conduct their campaigns, answer properly questions during debates, make you feel good about them, is the only indicators of driving you to make the best choice.

Nice ad.
Good comeback.

Obama is too big liar. He hided his race card until now. If he showed his race card at the beginning, he has already lost. He wasted too much money on the campaign. That amount of money can help lots of people who lost their home in credit crisis.
Economy is the highest priority in this election. We need the country to be transitioned to prosperity, then talk about other fantasy --- 'hope' 4 or 8 years later.
Young voters, you really want a peaceful home, peaceful environment, a lead with peaceful mind. You don't want a leader with hateful mind.
Posted by: golfgirlusa | Mar 22, 2008 12:41:14 PM
Young voters, don't be vain, wake up. What will Obama bring to you, to this country? He will being the bitterness of race fight, the old story to your memory. Don't be addicted in the 'hope' fantasy. He promised an 'empty' hope.
Any actor can be used in an AD, it's not suprising. One actor supports Obama, doesn't mean the whole AD supports Obama.
Posted by: golfgirlusa | Mar 22, 2008 12:36:18 PM
cba,
The only reason you obamamites are saying it's over is because Obama "is pulling" a Bush and stealing the primaries by not allowing a revote in Florida and Michigan. You think you may have won the battle but to quote my second choice John McCain, "My friends, you have lost the war."
Posted by: Josh | Mar 22, 2008 12:29:41 PM
A pathetic attempt by Obama campaign. I would say as pathetic as their releasing Bill's photo with Wright. As a matter of fact, that ad makes even more sense now in light of Wright's comments and Obama's 20-year association with him.
Posted by: Josh | Mar 22, 2008 12:23:23 PM
The only way Hilliary gets in is if she pulls a Bush and steals it. But since she and her harpies have drivien the country to this point, it seems that whoever "loses", will vote for "Insane McCain" (some "Democrats") and start World War 3 with IRAN. Thanks harpies, I hope you have that bomb shelter built. I thought you guys were going to leave after Bush got in, in 2000, WELL.... you've had eight years, just couldn't make it happen huh? Thought so.
Posted by: cba | Mar 22, 2008 12:16:34 PM
I find the comments concerning Obama's "dividing the party" very amusing. Lest we not forget, it was the Clintons who decided to use the "kitchen sink". Including race baiting dog whistles and endorsing McCain over another democrat which they continue to do. Obama's just defending himself which he has every right to do. It's the Clinton's that have made this race divisive.
Posted by: DJShay | Mar 22, 2008 11:51:04 AM
I think that the Clintons are getting as good as they have gave and you know that's the truth Jack. They just did not expect Obama to bite back.
The girl supports Obama then I say they made a mistake not finding out who was in the footage to begin with. LOL Joke's on Clinton!

What do I think?
I think two politically similar candidates are destroying themselves trying to invent differences.
Unfortunately, one of them will probably end up in the White House.
What was that motto? Oh yes:
"Oderint dum metuant."
Let them hate, as long as they fear.
Posted by: Cortland | Mar 22, 2008 11:03:28 AM
So the Obama camp is using all the millions to use every single trick on the book, whining all the time, using the surrogates to destroy Bill Clinton's reputation, using their aold journalist from CNN and MSNBC to spin their propaganda and all that to divert the controversy from his Pastor and avoid to answer the hard questions. Now in a very typical Obama way he is "skipping" Easter in Chicago, he's going away to the Caribbean. What a leader!
We all know in Chicago how flake is Obama. For the rest of th country..you better get to know this guy quickly! LOL
