Bill Clinton Claims Obama Camp Played the Race Card Against Him

April 22, 2008 7:58 AM

In his inimitable fashion, former President Bill Clinton told Philadelphia's WHYY radio that his South Carolina-primary comparison of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, to Rev. Jesse Jackson is an example of HIS being the victim of ugly racial politics.

Listen to the interview HERE.

“I think that they played the race card on me," Clinton said. "We now know, from memos from the campaign that they planned to do it along."

It's unclear what "memos" he was referring to.

Clinton had been asked by WHYY’s Susan Phillips about a local official who switched her support to Obama after Clinton’s "Jesse Jackson" comments, which she saw as his marginalizing Obama as “the black candidate.”

The microphone also picked up Clinton saying to someone with him, after the interview, “I don’t think I should take any s--- from anybody on that, do you?

Plenty of African-American officials, including Rep. James Clyburn, D-SC, the House Majority Whip, assuredly disagree with Clinton's interpretation of that controversy. Clyburn told me a few weeks ago that African-Americans, especially those from the South, "know the code words when we hear them."

UPDATE: Obama and Clinton elaborated on this interview today, which you can read about HERE.

"know the code words when we hear them."
PERSONALLY, I HAVE NEVER FELT THAT HE DID ANY SUCH THING! COULD YOU POSSIBLY FORWARD A LIST OF THOSE "CODE WORDS" MR. CLYBURN SPEAKS ABOUT AND THEN MAYBE I'D UNDERSTAND HOW BILL CLINTON PLAYED THE "RACE CARD."

William J... just shutup and let the women run her campaign for a change! Your buddy Penn and the RNC machine are the reason she has had such a hard time. She has taken the reins again and proved she is the President we want - your time was great but it is done now.

I am so proud of all the voters in this country. We are making our voices heard loud and clear! I am especially proud of Senator Hillary Clinton for standing up for all of us in the face of such uncertainty. Yes, "together we will turn promises into action, words will become solutions, hope will become reality."

Oh and by the way, Clinton won PA, double digits, overtook Obama in the popular vote, and cut into demographics previously considered Obama strongholds. Examine the exit polls and see for yourself just how significant this win is in terms of electability!

The Obama campaign has shamelessly played the race card throughout the campaign and the record shows they planned to do it all along. Clinton is telling the truth. However, the corporate media is determined to twist whatever Clinton says about the matter to smear Hillary. This is the only reason Bill should drop the matter for now.

Blacks have been voting for whites since 1870 so what's wrong if they choose to vote for a qualified black today?

Thanks for the link to Snopes...at least those military men in Korea can take responsibility for flipping the bird....unlike the cowardly Obama.

And I highly doubt that soldier was 'forced' to shake her hand.

He just enjoyed ripping on her like Obama did.

Posted by: Cali girl | Apr 22, 2008 12:55:45 PM

And Obama can't take responsibility for his actions either.

The difference is...the Clintons have proved they work for America rising incomes $7000 for the middle class.

And Obama has proved he works for Rezko, Auchi, Ayers, etc. While helping Rezko keep 11 slums without hot water or heat, and turning on the same community he help organize the minute he got real power.

I used to be concerned that the vicious Republican machine would eat up Obama if he were the Democratic candidate, causing the Dems. to lose the general election. No more. Obama has shown himself to be exceptionally competent in employing the dirtiest of political strategies. The questions are: if we win this way, will Obama take the win as a "mandate" to continue to behave in such a matter, and who will lose what if he does?

We all believe what we want to,Toby. Obama's campaign anticipated what Clinton's campaign would do and they responded. They outmaneuver the Clinton's. Had Bill kept his mouth shut there was nothing that Obama could have done.

Clinton's off the air comment said to me that he did not genuinely believe his response but he was just trying to preserve his legacy. Bill Clinton to me was someone who would say or do anything to get elected or his wife elected. He was more about symbols than content. He was a well liked president who in the fullness of time will be viewed as a man of personal political expediency, an average leader and a mediocre but not a poor president.

Obama seems to be more of an elitist then any other Candidate we ever had.

He meets behind closed doors with White Billionaires and terrorists then goes to a preacher to preach his hatred for the white man.

Anyhow on to Bill, what Minority did he have in any meaningful position in the white House.

President Bush is the First president to make a Black man and then a Black Woman Secretary of State, First black lady Presidential Advisor ., first Hispanic Attorney general First Black Secretary of Education, Do I need to go on?

See Republicans respect the individual, there actions are shown, the Libs speak a good game (well not soo good) but they show only racism!

Lets see they attack Rice, They attacked Gonzales So who are the racists again?

Posted by: spock | Apr 22, 2008 11:48:25 AM

All those people who called Bill Clinton "the first black president" have a lot to answer for! The man took it seriously.

Posted by: Carol Anne | Apr 22, 2008 11:46:25 AM

Doug,

Let's be honest here.

How many of those women wanted jobs and a push up the ladder?

They knew who he was and they wanted something in return.

Posted by: Cali girl | Apr 22, 2008 11:33:18 AM

He is right. The Obama campaign has play the race card over and over again. When someone in his campaign would make a comment, the press would run over the Clintons and ask the question about the comment. And then cut the response out of context to make it racist.

When Clinton was taking about 'fairy tale', it was in reference to Obama's 'I am against the war' before I had to vote for it. But the press and Obama pretended it was about race, playing the exact political games he claims he is upbove.

I will not support Obama lying and branding innocent people racists. Both my husband and I will write in our votes if Obama is the in the general.

He is lazy intellectually and has stolen all of his 'policy' from everyone else. He takes credit for other people's work. He come into committees and pretends to add something to the debate. Sen Kennedy even had to chastize him for such actions within a committee. He has no political courage to actually do his job and vote within the US Senate. Choosing to vote present, on big business items, to try and hide his true intent. He turned his back on the community he was organizing the minute he got any real power within Illinois. He has had to sue other Dems off the rolls to win, and has never been seriously challenged. His energy policy is stuffed with Cheney people and that is supposed to be change!?

To the DNC, both my husband and myself will not support Obama in the general. He has a glass chin, stolen ideas, and a plays the race card constantly when he thinks he is going to lose. Not only that he insults all of America and Colin Powell when he claims that small town PA or other American won't vote for a black man.

Gen Powell is a Republican has been begged by America to run several times. Even on that subject he is a divisive, race card playing, liar.

Stole MLKs tone....JFKs words...and Ceasar Chavez battle cry....and that is supposed to be impressive? LOL

For god sakes Bill, Let it be! Why can't you just keep your mouth quiet? I read your book and loved you as a president, but this is too much. You're killing your legacy!

Posted by: Tiffany | Apr 22, 2008 10:35:44 AM

MM, you mean that Madeilne Albright is a black woman, as far as I know that is not the reality. My positon remains, fro Bill and Hill, a good black man is the one on the backseat keeping quiet. MM, you have not been able to name any higher office held by a black person in the Clinton administration or US Army compared to Reagan or HBush or WBush. Hill the Bosnian General is unelecatble and out of control, she wants to bomb Iran, what a flip-flop, Hill will say anything and everything to get your vote, but anybody who has seen how she managed her campaign you will not trust her to manage a rumshop in Kingston, Jamaica. God bless America and God bless Obama.OBAMA08.

I love people still trying to paint Obama as the elitist still lol

this from people who are supporting Hillary Clinton...Ivy league multi-millionaire-ex first-lady of the United states...who hasn't has to drive herself anywhere in 30 years. Haha...but she can do a shot and badmouth Obama with an accent for whatever state she is in. How many women have not had to budget their home finances, worry about healthcare in their own families, had as much help raising a child, don't understand that people who are worrying about paying their rent and choosing not to pay for insurance because they can't don't understand how a possible $800 removed from your paycheck a year but will be paid back in a tax break ...doesn't work for them...

It is all spin...

One candidate lived in a one room condo without a garage with two kids in the past 8 years. One candidate left their ivy league jobs for a non-profit helping people in communities with closed factories. One candidate just finished paying off student loans.

Their are two candidates that could be called elitist in this election Obama is not one of them.

OH Billy shoe is on the other foot ...YAHOOOOOOOO.Who is crying now???????Gads I will be so glad when you go back to New York.Sick of you and your so called wife and the crying and then blame it on another...You two are meant for each other not a nice a couple can be found...

Rick

you love this being the topic of discussion. It takes it away from the fact that Obama is just planely the better candidate on almost every single issue for our country right now.

I am banking on the fact that this time...Obama has enough money and support that people won't be overridden by the power machine and old politics...spinnning away from the things we need to focus on...this is America's chance...and all the race bating/inflaming, two time speak, and attempts to draw fire will end up with people seeing...our standing has to get better in the world above everything if we are not going to crumble as a nation, the polarization of the workings of congress have to go away to fight the issues (rather than each other) that we face, and that the only way to change the "highway" we have been on for a couple of decades, that lead us here...can't be changed by someone who has only driven on this same highway.

Posted by: dl | Apr 22, 2008 9:52:51 AM

It's old-time politics of the worst sort to resort to trumping up some perceived slur or slight to galvanize an ethnic group or race. I still remember in 1992 when Bill Clinton was asked by Rolling Stone Magazine what issue he "would go to the wall for". And Clinton responded "civil rights and racial equality". I'm always suspicious when candidates like Obama come along and try to rewrite history to their own liking!! The Clinton Administration was obviously far, far superior to the disastrous Bush years, contrary to what Obama may say. And Bill Clinton has been one of the champions of social justice and racial equality, contrary to what Obama says.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | Apr 22, 2008 9:49:53 AM

Is any one surprised Obama has been playing the race card since day 1, when some used his middle name and they called the guy a racist!!

Just because Obama sends out his goon squad does not mean it is not coming from him!

But for Clinton or any lib to complain is Hypocrisy because all the libs know how to do is play one group against another.

They are against corporations who employ millions, but yet nothing against Hollywood actors who make millions and do not employ anyone!!

Posted by: spock | Apr 22, 2008 9:49:32 AM

And to finish that off for you...

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.
In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.

Posted by: Becky | Apr 22, 2008 9:47:04 AM

Vanessa,

Jesse Jackson won South Carolina and went on to lose the nomination. Bill Clinton attempted to marginalize Obama's victory accordingly. The people to follow won South Carolina and were on the ticket, so he could not use them to marginalize Obama's victory. That's what politicians do, attempt to spin the other's victory as not significant.

The Obama campaign spun it as racial. Shame, shame, shame.

Does this make Obama a rascist? I don't think so, it makes him a lousy spin artist. It doesn't change the fact that he is elitist, though.

Obama, the elitist, lest we forget!

During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

It's not that Bill Clinton is a racist...

It's that Bill Clinton used racism to get his wife ahead.

He knew exactly what he was doing...

He knew that the signs were in NH and Iowa that even with all their political might and strings and system they built... people were voting for obama after they got the ability to cut through all the political engineering.

He also knew a lot of people backed them on many things (hello library...hello entire DNC system jumping on the Clinton camp)expecting they were going to be the shoe in...and if they don't win...careers will be lost and heads are going to roll...

because there is a new sheriff in town...and they all backed the sheriff that has been fallen into the pitfalls of power for too long.

He knew that Obama was not being painted as the "black canduidate" and for his wife to win...he needed that issue to be reintroduced...because when he said the things he did...no one was talking about this.

...and for most of the independents this has now been put on the level with or unfortunately overtaken the issues of the war and the economy...

and every time those become the issue again...he brings this up.

Bill Clinton is old school slimey politics...for all the good he may have done... they are like the team that cheats when the game gets close and no ones looking...and then they win.

Let's play with a different team.

Hell, Obama admitted as much in the Nevada debate, geez, did everyone forget. They circulated memos playing up the LBJ/MLK comparison Hillary made that was 100% historically accurate. That's when it all started. Then they fanned the flames, along with the media. And the masses followed. Bill is right.. 100% correct.

Calling Obama a racist is like calling Bill Clinton the Pope.

It's just an "outta-this-world" ignorant comment with no substance!

I would have never guessed how many ignorant souls we have in this country; that is until I learned of this newly recognized fact during this political process.

We need to get back to emphasizing "education" in this country so that the upcoming generations will not sound so IGNANT!

p.s. - you know I know it's ignorant!

Posted by: GOD | Apr 22, 2008 9:22:49 AM

If I were Bill Clinton and I was asked a question on this issue I would fire back too. Bill Clinton had overwhelming support from the black community for a reason- the most minority appointments, and the most success at helping minorities raise incomes, find new jobs and opportunities, most vigorous enforcement of civil rights laws and greatest outreach to Africa. To try to construe that Bill Clinton is racist is patently absurd. McCain voted against the MLK holiday for gosh sake! Obama's beef with Bill was all about galvanizing the black community AND HE KNOWS IT!

Posted by: hopesprings52 | Apr 22, 2008 9:22:40 AM

Watching the Democrats implode this election cycle has been nothing short of hilarious. Gw Bush handed the Democrats the Presidency on a silver platter and look what a mess they made of it.

President John McCain is probably laughing too.

You couldn't be more further from the truth. You should read what the White House website says about the Clinton Administration.

The fact that he appointed and promoted more minorities to judiciaries and top positions within his cabinet is written there.

To not recognize that is an insult to people like Madeleine Albright, Donna Shalala, Alexis Herman, and Ron Brown. As for his judiciary appointments:

TOTAL CLINTON ADMINISTRATION APPOINTMENTS
Supreme Court 2
Circuit Court of Appeals 65
Trade Court 5
District Court, Art. III 305
District Court, Art. I 2
Court of Claims 7
Total 386

African-American 63 16%
Asian 5 1%
Hispanic 26 7%
Native American 1 0%
Women 115 30%
With Disabilities 5 1%

More more than half (55%) of his judiciary appointments went to minorities, more than ANY other president; past or present.

And, when the Republicans threatened to repeal civil rights legislations, Clinton and his Administration stood up and told them not to try it - that he would veto any such. Get your facts correct about the Clintons. They did more to foster minority than any other.

Why compare Obama to Jesse Jackson???

Why not a white candidate whom also won a SC primary???

Why Jesse Jackson???

He choose Jesse Jackson because he too was a black candidate who recieved majority of the AA vote

and THAT triggered AA and Hillary lost their votes from there

Bill Clinton basicaly stated, the reasons behind Obama's win were his AA roots

Posted by: Kitty | Apr 22, 2008 9:10:15 AM

This is another perfect example that the Clintons, because of their life story of being in power, live in a topsy turvy world, if not in an alternative universe.

In that universe, Bill did not try to paint Obama as 'the black candidate' after South-Carolina.

In that universe, lobbying for free trade agreements and being paid by foreign governments is a contribution to American interests.

In that universe, Hillary is a blue collar former First Lady.

In that universe, the abuse of a young intern in the White House is another fine reason to "clean up the mess after Bush."

In that universe, earning 109 million dollars is proving that you're not part of an American elite.

In that universe, talking about "totally obliterating" foreign countries with nukes is a contribution to America's standing in the international community.

In that universe, not paying the bills of small companies throughout the USA is an indication that you're able to handle the national economy.

In that universe, double standards are the single right standard; Rendell can praise Farrakhan but a black Reverend can not.

In that universe voting for the war in Iraq makes you a trustworthy opponent of that very same war.

In that universe, demonizing all opponents of a Universal Health Care plan, and failing to have it pass, is a promise of creating that same UHC in the near future.

In that universe it makes sense to strengthen the GOP candidate by attacking the DNC opponent in a Karl Rove fashion, even when you already lost the race.

In that universe, blatantly lying to Americans time and again is no disqualification of one's credentials.

In that universe, Hillary Clinton is simply a great candidate.

Of course Obama's camp played the race card. It started the day after NH.

They bamboozled Clinton.

Posted by: s.b. | Apr 22, 2008 8:57:31 AM

Of course, the Clinton campaign wants to talk about race - not because they're racists, but rather because it could well go to electability. But they also know that the candidate and senior staff can't touch that issue. That's what surrogates are for.

Clinton's comments highlighted a pattern from the Clinton campaign and its high-profile surrogates. First, Bill Shaheen. Then, Robert Johnson. Then, President Clinton himself. Finally, Geraldine Ferraro. Each comment, taken individually, may not mean too much. But as a group, they show a pattern. Nothing in politics happens accidentally, except perhaps for Gerald Ford becoming President.

Is Bill Clinton a racist? No, he's not. However, the comments were just dumb. The place in which he made them was even dumber. And his subsequent botching of his Tuzla defense and is claim that his wife hasn't "whined" about the media shows he's badly out of practice as a campaigner. The Bill Clinton of 1992 would not have been caught within 50 miles of a recording device saying any of those things.

Bill Clinton is right. Obama hided the race card at the beginning, then showed the race card after Wright's speech exposed.

How Obama became US Senator without being challenged?? Who was the one leading him to Senator? Isn't it because he is black?

Posted by: golfgirlusa | Apr 22, 2008 8:56:20 AM

Bill Clinton is whinning again. Now it is about the race card. Last month it was the media and afew months before of all things, unfair treatment in the debates. I am from NH and have seen this thing unfold from the beginning. The Clintons do not fool me. I am an independent for Obama and if HRC steals the nomination she will never get my vote. I will write-in my preference. Thank god this PA contest fix is over after today. Just like Ohio, HRC had almost all the politicians in her pocket from day one. I wonder if Mayor Nutter will vote as his constituents do which is going to be big for Obama.

tiffany for Hill and Bill, a good black man is the one in the back seat who keeps quiet. That is the reality you have to accept. They were surprised to see a black man pretending to the presidency of America because the function is their entitelment as they told Bill Richardson the Governor of New Mexico. There is a fondamental difference between the Clintons and Reagan or HBush or in fact WBush all these three have appointed black people at highest offices of the land. Bill is whining and crying he has to chill it out because his wife Hill the Bosnian Genearl is unelectable. God bless America and God bless Obama.OBAMA08.

Tiffany,

Bill is INDEED WHINING. Are people even focused on his Jesse Jackson comments about Barack Obama? Nope. We all know that that comment was suggested to him to use by none other than Mark Penn. (Thus we all know that that comment was a CALCULATED one).

Bill could have just said that it is time to move on and focus on the primaries now but nooooooo. He had to go on and on about the Obama campaign playing the race card.

Who cares. Both campaigns use the race card, the fear card, the hope card, etc to try to win. It is just politics and it's time to move on.

Posted by: Stacey | Apr 22, 2008 8:45:18 AM

Obama has thrown that race card so many times. I have contended all through this campaign that I am sick and tired of the Obama campaign making me feel like I am racists merely because I chose to support Sen. Clinton. After all, Ms. Clinton's campaign doesn't make Obamamites feel like chovanists.

Obama gets upset when someone makes a mistake and says in his speech that "words matter". However, if words to matter why did he use such offensive stereotyping language and ideals when he refered to people as "typical white people". I would have accepted him saying "some white people". I would have accepted him saying, "a few..." or even "many....". But I find his use of "typical" outrageous and and offensive because he stereotypes white Americans by using the term "typical".

Obviously, "words matter"... so he meant to say that and his longtime 20+ years spiritual mentor probably taught him the use of the words, "typical white people".

And Michele... Ms. "I'm not proud to be an American" UNTIL her husband ran for office. We won't get into it with her because I'm completely certain that given the opportunity, she would want "typical white people" sitting in the back of the bus. Her college thesis is an insult to the contributions of Jesse Jackson, Dr. King, Jr. and many others.

Finally, I am so disgusted by the impressions they have painted on Bill Clinton. Ya'all are just so upset that he got a little on the side which is soooo stupid. Behind Franklin D. Roosevelt, he probably was the 2nd best President in the 20 century history of his country. Even though I think they ought to give Monica Lewinsky a metal of freedom for her bold new approach to Presidential Stress Reduction, the matter is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Of Bill Clinton, all I can say is the country enjoyed a long-stand period of economic prosperity, longtime growth, fostered deep positive relationships with Europe and other countries, met each terrorist act with equal and balance responses, AND... Hey OBAMAMITES - READ THIS... Appointed and Promoted more minorities to judiciaries and cabinet positions within the Administration than ANY OTHER PRESIDENT - PAST or PRESENT!!!

What has Obama done for you - voted PRESENT countless times on meaningful state legislation. Every time this racist fool could have taken a stance, he decided not to. If he becomes president, his spits on the graves of EVERY found father - who took a stance and risked everything including their own lives for the liberty and the freedoms we now enjoy.

And after all that, I still cannot belive you would vote for him. I'm appauled by the Obamamites... and the Obama campaign.

If I cannot vote for Ms. Clinton, I cannot slap the faces of our country's founding father, and vote for Obama for a racist zealot.

Stacey, Bill Clinton is not whining. He keeps getting asked these questions and he is answering them with the truth. The Obama people have tarnished and sullied the Clintons' reputation and they have a right to defend themselves. You would do the same!

Clinton is right. Jake, can you please re print that 4 page memo sent by the Obama campaign to the media to paint the Clintons as racists? The race baiting by the Obama campaign started pre SC but very few people paid attention back then and the Obama campaing successfully manipulated the MSM and people saw the Clintons as racists. Obama IS THE RACIST for attending that church with the despicable pastor who hated whites, Jews, Italians, gays etc for 20 years. He contributed lots of dollars to that church and I am sure he and Michelle believe all that garbage spewed in that church. Furthermore, they brought their 2 daughters to that church. How disgusting! Even Oprah left many years ago and maybe that is why she is no longer associating with Obama.

Bill needs to STOP WHINING about this!!!!

The South Carolina primary was MONTHS AGO. Time to move on.

I hated it when Obama whined about last week's debate so I am glad that he has stopped and I REALLY HATE IT that Bill is STILL whining about comments that he himself made.

Time to move on. Bill WASTED this interview to whine about the supposed race card as oppose to trying to SUPPORT his wife's campaign.

Twist and twist and twist...

The political establishment that has brainwashed so many for so long is pabicked that it it going to lose it's power and hold and they are pulling out every stop.

This is as good as Terry McAuliffe this morning trying to make the case that Michigan should count as is because "their names were on the ballot"...

twist twist twist...

They play the game of twisting words...and if you don't think Bill Clinton knows the secondary layer effect of words and doesn't pick words exactly as he knows they have a political turn...

"It depends on what your meaning of 'is' is."

Get rid of these people...now. Relight the beacon of what America represented.

First, your bias is showing again. "Inimitable fashion"? You use the phrase condescendingly as a put-down.

Second, I believe that not only did Barack Obama play the race card, it worked, and as a result black voters have turned away from the Clintons with whom they have had a long and affectionate history to Barack Obama, a man with whom the only connection they have is the same race.

My believe is bolstered by what has been learned about Wright, Meeks, and Obama’s associations with them, and in the manner that Obama chose to explain his relationship with reverend Wright.

As a result, the nation is now polarized along racial lines in this election, and I lay that at the feet of the candidate who at first packaged himself as transcending both party politics and race and turned out to be just another race bating, calculating, Chicago poll.

Bill is right. Listen to the interview! This guy is not a racist. The worst stereotyping in this campaign is coming from the Obama camp-- from Jeremiah Wright's rants about "evil white people" to Barack Obama's tamer musings on "typical white people" and small town Americans.
I voted for Jesse Jackson the first time he ran and I'm supporting Hillary Clinton this year. I am sure that Obama will try once again to twist Bill Clinton's words against him, all the while railing against "politics as usual." That is audacity. But it is sure not the audacity of hope.

Get real, Mike,

Obama and his regime have thrown the race card so many times, I have lost count.

By the way, comparing Barack Hussein Obama to Jesse Jackson is an insult to Jesse Jackson.

Posted by: Jayhawk | Apr 22, 2008 8:19:32 AM

Yes the obama campaign has used race often, so that when obama was called a boy by the senator from Kentucky. I couldnt even feel any outrage at the comments. Because I so sick of the racial splitting of hairs the obama camp has gotten away with because of media bias.

He's right.

Rick,

If you really think free speech is a reality on this blog, you haven't been posting here very long.

Posted by: Jayhawk | Apr 22, 2008 8:17:26 AM

how can a former president be such a dirt ball.

This is insane, he compares Obamas win to Jesse Jacksons in SC, and did so in a demeaning way. Then he says HE is getting the race card thrown at him?!?!?!?

Well maybe when the whole Lewinski scandal game up he thought that he had been cheated on by Hillary.

When will the President of the USA be a position of honor again instead of a joke?

President Clinton is correct, Senator Obama has taken the serious issue of race and used it with reckless abandon against anyone that questions his ability and fitness to lead the nation. Senator Obama has done more to push the nation back, rather than helping us go forward. He and his cohorts have even used this with reckless intent against other African-American superdelegates who have had the audacity to support someone other than himself. As we have witnessed over the past several years, it takes so long to build something up, but so little time to tear it down. President Clinton has done more for the bringing together of all races, both prior to, during, and after his Presidency than Senator Obama has ever done, and he has done it without malintent or cloaked reasons. I am personally thankful for all that President Clinton has done to make this experiment called America a reality for all of us.

Jake - I thought we live in a free speech society... why are you removing my comment?

Posted by: Rick | Apr 22, 2008 8:14:10 AM

So in the last 24 hours, we have coming out of the Clinton camp charges of reverse racism, scary pictures of Bin Laden and evidence that Hillary will be trigger happy when it comes to America's nukes.

If this were anyone but the Clinton's, they'd be labeled wackos.

Bill Clinton is right. The obama campaign started handing out the memo with supposed racial attacks. Which were all fabrications.
