Clinton Campaign Debt Watch, Part II
April 09, 2008 10:05 AM
You may recall when we took a look at Sen. Hillary Clinton's $8.7 million in campaign debts she reported (see "Debt Be Not Proud," March 31).
One of those debts comes from a visit by former President Bill Clinton to a school in California -- the University of California in Davis.
The local CBS station reports that the school "is ready to take the Clinton presidential campaign to a collection agency if they do not pay back the thousands of dollars they are still owed" if the bill is not paid within the month.
"Ready on Day One! (Debt collectors, come see me the middle of next month, please.)"

what i find funny is 95% comments are about Obama.... this is about hrc not paying bills, when i first say this story i thought wee if she is 8.7mil pass due the Obama and Mcwar must be around the same... not sure about mcwar but Obamas .6 vs 8.7mil clintons...something just doesnt add up.
oh and didnt i hear something about her not paying helthcare for her staffers?

Did the University of California at Davis actually put out a statement on this? Or is this report from a "journalist" that supports Obama? It would seem unseemly for any university to come out with this type of information. I'm tired of all this nit-picking of Hillary's campaign. Talk about real issues there are plenty of them to go around, the economy, the war, health insurance, take your pick.

Lexie -- sorry, you're wrong. A direct comparison of the two campaigns' filings shows Hillary owes tens of millions of dollars -- including from Iowa and New Hampshire! Obama owes far, far less. It's not the same. Research. Then comment.

Simple Stacy, gender is thicker than brains and even race. The persone that stood out to me the most was John E.
I was with John all the way in my head but with Hillary in my heart......long story short, I supported Hillary, sent her money, was planning to volunteer for her - then we were presented with a side of the Clinton's none of knew existed.....more importantly, she has run the worst campaign for someone with the two biggest assets in politics MONEY and NAME recognition.......Anyway, I didn't like what I saw.....and if she can't manage a campaign effectively; especially against no name guy, she deserves to be defeated......Bottom line, his campagin has run circles around hers.....In conclusion, we are getting a very good look at how this people will govern the country so I am no longer going on EMOTION alone and my support for Hillary is gone. She has run an ineffective campaign. In fact, the only reason she is still in this, or so it appears to me, is because of sympathy, gender and ethnic pride.....otherwise, she would have been done a long time ago.
Of course I'm not an idiot and I'm NOT voting for some warmonger. McCain would rather spend our money building schools in Iraq, while the schools in this country is falling apart? Doesn't make sense to me.

Wish I had thought of this, from a great blog post:
"In a move that's sure to be seen as controversial, Hillary has contacted the NCAA Board of Directors to argue that Memphis is actually better qualified to be National Champion.
Ms. Clinton stated that Memphis, while losing the game, had actually shown more ability to act like a National Champion on Day One. She argued that Memphis had passed every test during the game, including scoring more points than Kansas for 38 minutes. For 38 minutes they had shown the experience necessary to be National Champion. 'Just because some team comes along in the last minute and scores more points than the other guy doesn't mean they're necessarily able to be National Champion on Day One.'"

Hillary walmart videoes to bust unions. She sits quietly by. Will this be the final nail in her coffin?
Posted by: Lauren | Apr 9, 2008 3:27:40 PM
Holy Cow!!!
First Hillary was shafting a food bank, then she was sticking to small businesses and now she's short changing a school? Let's now forget about the poor campaign workers with their unpaid health insurance bills.
Where will this end?
I don't know people, but it sounds like Hillary may be in over her head here. Hate to say it, but her campaign is outta control.

Unless Obama's reps are running around w/cash in their pocket (or a campaign credit card), they have bills that will be due in a month too. Where's the outrage?![this is a non-story. Both campaigns have millions of dollars, are managing cashflow, and legally floating bills until payment is due. Unfortunately, HRC supporters who may be vendors to the Obama campaign aren't so infantile as to try and generate negative publicity in such a stupid way. In reality, if any of the supposed "stiffed" vendors really didn't expect bills to be paid, they would have gone to collections agency -- no one has.]

Jake
At the hearing, Obama acted like a republican. He's trying to move toward the right now and his poor followers are being left behind without a clue that they're being abandoned.
Such followers?

Hillary Clinton does not deserve to be president of the United States.
Her vote for the Iraq war.
Her support and lobbying for NAFTA
Her refusal to pay vendors for services rendered to her campaign.
Her lies after lies!
Her shady dealings with foreign governments.
Her taking money for corporations that sexually harrassed their female employees.
Her stocks with TATA Consultations.
Her religious cult.
THIS WOMAN IS CORRUPTION AT ITS BEST!
Posted by: megan | Apr 9, 2008 2:52:52 PM
OKAY WOMEN! GATHER AROUND! HERE THIS CLEARLY!
Any woman who claims to be voting for Hillary simply because she is a woman is making a big mistake!
She is responsible for thousands of American soldiers dying when she wrecklessly voted for the Iraq War.
To reward her by giving her a single vote is a injustice to the American families that have to bury their children.
She is responsible for a flawed NAFTA agreement that caused the American people thousands and thousands of jobs.
To reward her by giving her a single vote would be a slap in the face to all those American workers who struggled to
put food on the table for their families and by no fault of theirs were robbed of their jobs.
Hillary Rodham's lack of sound judgment has devestated this country!
HOW CAN ANYONE THINK OF VOTING FOR HER SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN!
That would be such an injustice!

Well..now we can add "Deadbeat" to the list. After all she and Bill only earned $109,000,000 during the last seven years. Paying your bills doesn't appear to be high on her list of priorities. Shame on her! But.....maybe the "check's in the mail"......NAAAAAHHHH!

Hillary is doing well in pa and inside state polls show her doing pretty good in NC among white females yard signs are poping up all over women unite and there are a lot of women who are voting for her in the next 10 states so I can't wait to see how this thing plays out she'll have enough money Kerry had to morg. his house to win it is unreal that Obama is spending $300.000 aday on ads in Pa. And people are sick of ads already.

s.b.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch! He's not behind now, and likely will not be after NC, if at all.
And Electoral College is meaningless until November. Meaningless.

countallthevotes--RE: Kerry--
You're kidding, right? Kerry didn't win because he rode an expensive BIKE? He was a five-time decorated war veteran, but the "support the troops" party wore Purple Heart bandages at the convention and voted in the alcoholic service-evader.
Unbelievable. Propaganda works, people.
"Time willl tell what kind of a president GW really was. "
Well for one thing, he's a BIKE RIDER.

If I charged something on my credit card in January and hadn't made a payment by Apil or May, there would be consequences. UC Davis can probably afford this better then some of the small businesses that her campaign has stiffed, but why should they. Of the three campaigns, hers is the only one that has left this mess wherever they go. Infighting, staff fired, irresponsible about debts, lies on end. . . This is not the picture of a person who I want representing my country to the world.

The DNC Rules did not require discounting the votes of any state. There was discretion afforded to craft a remedy in the event that a state was found to be in violation. Discounting votes is not mandated by the DNC Rules.

jj,
Swiftboats did not sink Kerry; Kerry sunk Kerry. That should have been a nobrainer. During all the hoopla do you recall that strange photo of him in the stretchy bike suit and head gear with the very expensive bike?? He just did not have a clue in the end of how he was coming across.
Kerry sunk Kerry. Time willl tell what kind of a president GW really was.
