I am an Independent for Obama. you know Religion and Politics are used by all faiths Christian , Jewish and Muslim people to push any agenda. Religion is not supposed to be an issue in our politics. What are the real issues?

The Media is focusing on the wrong issues. I have been to Muslim, Christian and Jewish Temples and heard some crazy things from all of them. I have been to rev Wright Church in Chicago and the Million Man March with Farrakhan in DC.

My own pastor was a staunch black republican in a church full of black democrats in Florida. People do not get branded to a pastors sermons. Some sermons we hate and others we appreciate.

Lets stay focused on the economy, Iraq, corporate corruption, Terrorism, health care, education, youth violence, crime.

The more we focus on those jerky sermons from pastors we don't like the less we focus on real issues. The more we focus on sensationalism and not facts we lose focus. Obama is beating Clinton and she is fighting for her political life because she underestimated Obama!

The economy, Housing foreclosure, Iraq, corporate corruption, Terrorism, health care, education.

What are our exports to Columbia? jobs?

Posted by: southernbell | Apr 15, 2008 12:06:40 PM

ahh bring up the Columbian trade , do you realize trade goes both ways, if we stop trade with someone, that means our products do not get traded either.

Jake - wheres a Blog on the one Presidential Candidate that finally had the courage to say we pay too high a tax on gas and they should not tax us for the summer, that is McCain the true leader!

While the libs in Congress try to raise the tax on gas 50 cents over the dollar in tax they already collect (compare to 8 cents profit for te oil campanies)

Classic Obama move: Blame EVERYONE else first!

Posted by: Lunchbox Dem in PA | Apr 15, 2008 12:41:23 AM

This all seems like her way to chuck the kitchen sink at him and destract from her Columbian trade issues and her nonsensical nonresponse when asked about her husband's $800,000.00 Columbian activism with a laugh and "How many angels does it take to dance on the head of a pen?" HUH?? This has to be one of the craziest responses a direct question in history. (Except maybe "that depends on what your meaning of 'is' is?). I haven't seen any coverage of Hillary's nonresponse on the MSM. But overall, I personally blame CNN for pimping the so called "controversy" all weekend. Maybe Bill gave CNN a little green handshake to blow this "story" out of purportion. I think all this goes to show that the American people ARE NOT STUPID.

Rhetoric is cheap .. actions speak louder than words and Obama LACKS ACTIONS.

Obama worked with a Republican to secure nuclear weapons. He also worked with a Republican to pass a strong ethics bill.

jbasel9009,

What was said by AkaDad is what Obama said and what he meant. You are dishonestly trying to lend a spin to it.It won't work. There are many people like me out there who understood what he said and they are in the majority.Stop fooling yourself.

paul, grow up!

Think Roosevelt!

Think Kennedy!

The only difference between the three is that Clinton was impeached by a crazy man Starr at a cost to this country of millions.

But think of the GOOD he accomplished!
Unprecedented prosperity! Hope!

Bravery! Do you remember how Bill closed down the government rather than giving in to republican senatorial overspending?

And do you remember the strength and dignity with which Hillary faced the public?

How come no one went after Jackie Kennedy or Eleanor Roosevelt with the same mean, vitriolic crap that's been slung Hillary's way..... for something over which none of them had any responsibility.

She could have become bitter!
She chose not to.

She could have hung her head and cried "woe is me". She chose not to.

Instead, she used her brilliance and her resiliant spirit to learn as much as she could and help wherever she could.....

And I for one think she's ready to lead.
And I cannot disagree that her campaign was not as well run as it should have
been.

But most of you can no longer disagree that she will make a strong, dedicated President...who loves her country.

Barack is absolutely right. As a matter of fact he understated it. I'm not bitter, I'm pissed-off! And if you're not pissed-off, you haven't been paying attention!

The Bush administration has spent us to the brink of bankruptcy and handed over the country to the highest bidders, if there was a bidding process at all. Our worldwide reputation is the lowest ever, the dollar is dropping like a rock and we're in a no-win situation in Iraq.

BITTER DOESN'T BEGIN TO DESCRIBE WHAT I FEEL!!!

Obama's whole point is that politicians make promises that they don't keep, and people are bitter about it. That's not demeaning or elitist, it's the truth, and most people know this.

Posted by: AkaDad | Apr 14, 2008 11:26:53 PM

After a decade or *reality TV*, most of us know better than to accept something like that as revelatory. The editing suite is a mighty rhetorical tool. CNN isn't even bothering to disguise it.

Once the elections are over and all of those donations are spent in the local and national markets, it might be possible for ABC to go back to doing worthy news, but as long as news is a cost-center, it's *reality TV* as practiced for profit. I sure miss Walter Cronkite and Eric Severeid.

We'll know what Pennsylvanians think after they vote. I hope they turn out in the largest numbers of any election in history.

I find it ironic that ABC News does this report, and then follows it up with a Bill Weir report on life in Cairo, Egypt. The irony? ABC tried to focus on people disagreeing with Obama's point in one small town in Pennsylvania. Weir's ABC report from Cairo, however, makes this statement broadcasted on the SAME news program:
"...political oppression and economic turmoil have driven millions of her peers to become more religious … some to the extreme. Mosque construction has boomed and Islamist parties like the Muslim Brotherhood have grown stronger, managing to win a small percentage of seats in parliament despite Mubarak's crackdowns."

I guess, according to ABC, economic hardship and political oppression only drives people to cling to religion in a Muslim country.

A left wing media wouldn't cherry pick sermons of Obama's pastor and run them over and over. A left wing media wouldn't be twisting Obama's words. A left wing media wouldn't give McCain a free pass like they have.

Posted by: AkaDad | Apr 14, 2008 11:20:18 PM

You couldn't find one person who was on Clinton side? Typical MSM.

SEND CONTRIBUTIONS TO HILLARY! This is our golden chance to turn it around.

Posted by: Ken | Apr 14, 2008 11:17:17 PM

akadad,

Obama had the same position four years ago when interviewed by Charlie Rose. It is on the web and is an hour. If you go to 11 minute section you will hear Obama say that those with economic hardship do not vote economic issues. Instead their insecutiy leads them to hunt and go to church. Church and hunting provide stability. They then vote the Party that does not look down on them.

If I provide the link to Charlie Rose interview, Jake will delete the post.

Left wing Obama media will pay dearly for this in Nov.

al

Obama clarified himself. Hillary and others are dishonestly twisting his words.

Same clip as before just edited you put the waitress at the end and added in a couple of ladies from the street. So how many did you talk to and did you have to use the waitress in both clips? I am talking about "And What Do Small Town Pennsylvanians Think?" from earlier....was she the only person that felt that way so you used her twice?

Obama goes out and tries to change what he has said because a lot of people don't know what he really said.

"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. ... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

This is quite interesting that not only the waitress but Daily KOs, Joe Klein, Wallace, Dionne, and may others blame Mrs. Clinton for everything that is even slightly negative about Mr. Obama.
Would you blame an opponent taking advantage of negatives or weaknesses of a candidate? Did Mr. Obama not call Mrs. Clinton deceptive, misleading, and flip-flopper? Nobody blamed Mr. Obama for Mrs. Clinton's negatives.
Mr. Obama has been inconsistent and tells different groups different things.

It was not Mrs. Clinton who brought the story out; it is the darling of Mr. Obama "Huffington Post" that broke the story.

Again, it may be convenient for the extreme left and the left-wing media to distort information now, but they may be in for a rude awakening this fall - although I hope this is not the case. After all, Mr. McCain is a relatively easy candidate to beat after 8 years of Mr. Bush. But the attempt of the press trying to portray Mr. Obama as a Saint and Scholar and Mrs. Clinton as Evil and Cruel will have some consequences.

I am so sorry that the waitress chose to blame Sen. Clinton for obama' remarks-I will never understand how people can say it is her fault for what he said.
I believe he said what he meant to say.
in answer to the question.
it could just be the people in sm. towns are not supporting him because they do understand what he is saying and they still don't like him.
I wonder if the waitress knows that with hillary's healthcare plan she will have insurance and with obama she will not. Because chosing to let adults have to option of healthcare-will not get all of us healthcare.
she should think again about Sen. Clinton-and know that A vote for Sen. Clinton is a vote in the waitress' best interest.

It is really something obama is slowly revealing he and his belief (and he cannot help it-he is what he is)
could mean distaster to the us.
He says something wrong-in a venue he is comfortable and all the media wants to know is what will sen. clinton say about it.
among the people I have talked with today
they are beginning to see through obama
and the media.
this is good for the country.
What a fighter she is-everyone that is supposed to be fair and balanced are going against her-and she still makes the case. She is the one with the best record. and I hope some of the people in pa. will read this-and think hard about it. Do not believe the hype
sen.clinton runs rings around obama when it comes to the issue of putting the economy back on the right track.
