Democratic Congressional Candidate: Obama? Obama Who?
April 30, 2008 10:07 AM
In North Mississippi, Democratic congressional candidate Travis Childers has been hammered by Republicans for ties to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, in THIS AD from the National Republican Congressional Committee and THIS AD from Childers' opponent -- "When Obama's pastor cursed America blaming us for 9/11 Childers said nothing," the ad says.
Now Childers is pushing back -- by acting as if he's never even heard of Obama.
In a new TV ad launching today, Childers says his family "has heard the lies and attacks linking me to politicians I don't know and have never even met," the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports.
And Memphis's WREG-TV has an interesting report in which Childers distances himself quite a bit from Mr. Obama. Watch HERE.
"Senator Obama hasn't endorsed my candidacy," Childers says. "I have not been in contact with his campaign nor has he been in contact with mine."
Obama's campaign has tried to help Childers, as you can see on Obama's website.

"If Obama is anywhere mentioned on
the democratic ticket
, I will
never vote Dem again!!!!!!!!!!!"
Then you were never going to vote Dem in the first place, no matter who was on the ticket.
Lets face it folks, even if you think Obama is a secret commie fascist mutant space-man terrorist from Iran, and Clinton is well... I don't think some of the words I'd use would make it past the moderators... they've got nothing on the Slimefest 08 that is the current Republican party.
A vote for the Republicans is a vote to continue the Iraq war ad infinitim, to rob from the middle class and give to the rich, to keep Americans uninsured so long as it turns a profit for some fat shareholders, I could go on...
Tell me, honestly, do you think your preferred candidate stands for any of those things I just said? Do you honestly think the Democrat you hate so much stands for any of these things?
I despise the Clintons with the white hot intensity of a thousand exploding suns, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I'll vote Republican. TOTALLY the lesser of two evils there...

Mr. Obama's actions are highly reckless and
suspicous....IMHO... If
Hillary is not the nominee, I will
become a republican...

"Seems like OBAMA'S PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF FACTS! THEY like to post lies on the Internet IN OTHER PEOPLES NAMES.
That letter I posted IS VALID... AND DOCUMENTED.... AND SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED.
It is unfortunate that some people try to hide the truth by stealing the name of the original poster and replacing the content of the message with lies.
My name is Questioner... and I approve this message!

Doug - Chelsea's starting salary at McKinsey five years ago was in the neighborhood of $100K --- not unusual for a Stanford grad with a masters from Oxford going to work at a global consulting firm.
As for the usual litany of "illegal" things -- suggest your time may be better spent petitioning Congress for your share of the $70 million spent by Starr/Ray be reimbursed since clearly they were so incompetent as to head up a 6-yr investigation which turned up a horny president and a blue dress ... and nothing else! Don't forget to throw in some xtra $ for all the congressional investigations which similarly turned up ... nothing!

okay first of all i went to the website given for lauren davis and i counldnt find the letter ?

So Doug are you impersonating David Shuster now? Did you know sexism is bad? Just like racism is bad? Sexism seems to be okay with Obama supporters, just not sex out of marriage. And having friends that bomb the pentagon and police stations, and hurting the policemen working inside the police stations when the bomb goes off is okay. It's hard to understand what is okay in Obama world. One day Wright is okay, the next day, Wright is not okay. Obama is a flip flopper of major proportions. If Obama drops out of the race now, before the Rezko trial really gets interesting, he may save the democratic party from appearing more corrupt than the Republicans. But Obama won't do that - it's all about Obama. Not the American people.

Mr. Obama's ethics are far
below the Americans he is trying
to "save"// This whole campaign
is a nightmare......

Melissa - You brought up the war issue, I was merely pointing out all the ramifications of "getting out now." Since you clearly aren't prepared to discuss it, we'll drop it. If you're worried about the economy, tell me how Obama's proposed plans (identified costs exceed HRC's by about $100 billion) will be paid for? What's he giving up? What's highest priority so we know what the probable tradeoffs will be?
(PS - on the "screw em" comment - pls do remember that people in the room do remember the conversation differently, and that even the person who first wrote about it notes that:
-- He pointed out that everyone in that room back in '95 was angry about the Republicans taking over Congress. The only person who wasn't angry was Bill, who (as the HuffPo piece also explains) talked about the importance of reaching out to white southerners.
-- He noted that the Hillary from '94-'95 was a MUCH different person from the Hillary in Bill's second term. She had moved from ideological liberal to a pragmatic leader. He says his 2001 book, in fact, has a chapter on this transformation.
-- He is a Hillary Clinton supporter and has given Clinton money.

Thanks for sending out an alert about Obama.
We are living and working in Kenya for almost twelve years now and know his family (tribe) well. They are the ones who were behind the recent Presidential election chaos here.
Thousands of people have been displaced by election violence (over 350,000) and I don’t know the last count of the dead.
Obama under “friends of Obama” gave almost a million dollars to the opposition campaign who just happened to be his cousin, Raila Odinga, who is a socialist trained in East Germany. He has been trying to bring Kenya down for years and the last president threw him in prison for trying to subvert this country!

News that Sean Hannity will next bring up Obama's connections to Aiham Alsammarae, who has connections in Iraq with Rezko, and Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO leader. Also, Obama was connected with Edward Said, another PLO leader, in the late 1990's. The longer Obama stays in this race, the worse he makes it for ALL Democrats running for office. Nice to see that Michelle is out campaigning with him today! Politics of Political Expediency!!!
