Gov. Rendell: There's 50% About Barack Obama We Don't Know Yet
April 03, 2008 4:03 PM
As governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell is getting a lot of attention these days as the chief surrogate for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., as she and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., square off in preparation for the Keystone state's April 22 primary.
Rendell joined us for the ABC News Shuffle Podcast, which you can listen to on iTunes or HERE.
Some highlights from our 37-minute chat:
"I think that Hillary Clinton wears very well, the more people get to know her I think the more they like her. I've seen that transformation with working-class stay-at-home women who last year at this time were very cool to Hillary. But when we were at the St. Paddy's day parade at Pittsburgh and Scranton they were screaming for her like she was a rock star."
Rendell said that Clinton will be able to beat Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in states such as Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and "she's been really well vetted, all the bad stuff is by and large out there, and there are no surprises. With Sen. Obama I think the right now he may run, a little stronger in some areas -- not the key states -- but in some areas against Sen McCain, but understand that he hasn't been vetted."
Rendell says Obama hasn't been upfront about his position on nuclear power -- he referenced a New York Times story on Obama watering down some legislation, after which the nuclear exec became big contributors -- and then said, "but you haven't heard that from the Clinton campaign and you won't We're not going to put up a TV ad saying 'He's lying to you' because I think there's been restraint on both sides. I'm not just praising Sen. Clinton, I think Sen. Obama has been pretty restrained."
That said, Rendell said, once Obama becomes the nominee the Republicans will unleash the hounds.
"You don't think the Republican 527s are going to leave this stuff alone do you?" he asked. "You don't think you're going to see 527 ads with the explicit comments Rev. Wright said, about Rezko and the land deal? You're going to see 527 ads about all of those things."
It's not as if the race will be nicer if Clinton is the nominee, I suggested.
"It won't be nicer," Rendell responded, "but what there is to construe negatively in Sen. Clinton's background is out there so I think she'll suffer less slippage than Sen. Obama would and that's why I think she's a stronger candidate."
I took issue with the assertion that everything about Clinton is "out there" -- she hasn't released her IRS returns from the past seven years, there are library documents that remain unreleased, we don't know who the donors to the Bill Clinton Library are.
"I will grant you that, let's say that there's 10% about Hillary Clinton that we don't know yet, I will grant you that, but I would say there's also about 50% about Barack Obama that we don't know yet," Rendell said.
He suggested that Obama can win Pennsylvania, but avoided saying that he thought he would.
"I don't know how hard they'll hit him and I don't know how hard, well, either the Obama campaign will respond or how well the American people will respond," he said. "I always like to credit peoples better angels. I think they can overplay all this stuff and I think it could backfire . . . I have no doubt (Obama) can win -- it's going to be tough. John McCain is the best candidate the Republicans could've fielded to win Pennsylvania. He's probably the best they've fielded in probably 4 or 5 presidential elections in terms of likely to carry Pennsylvania. So it's going to be tough but he can win."
Rendell also talked about:
* how women voters have been offended by the media coverage of Clinton and how his wife -- Judge Midge Rendell -- has been personally touched by what she perceives to be unfair bias in the coverage of Clinton;
* the battlegrounds in the state -- the fiercest fight, like always, is in the suburbs of Philadelphia;
* the racial politics of the state -- a buzz saw he ran into when he ran against an incumbent African-American Mayor in the Democratic primary in 1987 -- as well as his controversial comments about white voters not being ready to vote for a black candidate; and
* the scandals involving neighboring state Democratic governors, Jim McGreevey of New Jersey and Eliot Spitzer of New York. He laughed about a David Letterman TV ad that looped him in with those two, but called the two scandals "sad." "I've tried to live as normal a life as I can in my 31 years in public office but its hard. You have to catch yourself all the time...you don’t have the same freedom that a normal person has."
A fun chat for political junkies between two Philly-boys. Listen HERE. ABC News Shuffle Podcast produced by the fantastic Julia Hoppock.

rendell is a known racist. he was the DA of philly back in the 80s and was involved in the bombing of the MOVE house in west philly. that bombing killed 11 people, including kids. he has done nothing to rectify his part of the problem. i don't trust him AT ALL. so if hillary is accepting his support just so she can win pennsylvania... then i cannot support her. it's impossible.
bad move, hillary. there are plenty of black folks out here who will never forget what happened to MOVE! we'll never forget the name rendell. it's a bad move to have that name connected with your own.

Why I will Vote for Hillary Clinton:
1. ENERGY: We know we need to change to Cheaper, Cleaner, DE-Centralized/NOT Monopoly controlled Energy.
Clinton states that her Energy Plan does not include nuclear; nuclear can be considered ... in the future .... IF and when they find a way to MAKE IT CHEAPER and Find a way to safely dispose of nuclear waste.
(Obama and McCain have said they are Pro-Nuclear).
2. ECONOMY: The Clintons are the only candidates with ANY experience in TURNING an ECONOMY around before it slides into economic meltdown .... engendering unprecedented economic growth .... during the 1990's ...following Reagan/Bush 1's wholesale looting of the majority of the public and the public treasury.
3. FOREIGN POLICY: Returning the Clintons to the White House will Return the Rest of The World's Governments and Peoples to the SAME unprecedented High Level of Goodwill, RESPECT, and TRUST for the U.S. Government as they had during Bill Clinton's administration.
4. COMPETENT QUALIFED PEOPLE RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT:
Same as during Bill Clinton's administration.
5. REAL PUBLIC SERVANTS instead of cronyism, payoffs, corruption in Government.
The Clinton administration was investigated far more than any other entity in the history of the world.
Investigated by people who hated them AND desperately wanted to find a way to find them guilty of payoffs, corruption, SOMETHING, anything ..... Following 8 years and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of investigations the Clintons were not found guilty of ANY KIND of political corruption --- (which practically makes them eligible for political Sainthood).
As best I can see the Clintons are the candidates being backed by the GOOD wealthy people. Bill Clinton has spent the past eight years .... promoting and expanding CHARITY - particularly among the rich.
When Clinton was president what kind of legislation did he manage to get passed- despite a Republican Controlled Congress?
Two Examples: The Family and Medical Leave Act .... for the benefit of ordinary American working class people, and the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. (The two most essential elements for life on this planet.)
Put the Clintons back in the White House WITH a Democrat-Controlled Congress AND the REAL CHANGES We the People Need CAN get made.

Why I will not vote for Obama:
1. Are we likely to get GOOD CHANGES in Energy policy from an Obama administration?
Answer: NO. Why Not?
Because: Obama voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill (H.R. 6) in 2005.
(which enabled the nuke industry to begin planning to build 29 new nukes (one of them in Pennsylvania)
- after 30 years of no new nukes being built because the banks wouldn't loan the money - too risky.
The Cheney Energy Bill solved that problem for the nuke industry by guaranteeing taxpayer payback of any of the nuke loans that default ... (with the risk of default rated by the Congressional Budget Office at 50% or greater).
Because: Obama has been IN with the nuke industry for decades. Excelon Corp. of Illinois is the largest nuke operator on earth - ( they own the nuclear power plants in Illinois and they own Con-Ed in NY state). Excelon has been one of Obama's largest contributors since his earliest days in politics.
Because: Obama would not even be IN the race for president IF he was not HEAVILY SUPPORTED by the nuke industry. GE (2nd largest corporation on the planet) & Westinghouse are planning to build many of those nukes.
GE owns NBC & MSNBC. Westinghouse owns CBS. That's the reason "the Mainstreams Media" are PUSHING Obama for President/ slamming & smearing the Clintons. ABSENT BILLIONS of dollars worth of FREE Pro-Obama Advertising/Propaganda provided by NBC/MSNBC/and CBS Obama would not have gotten past the New Hampshire primary.
2. Are we likely to get GOOD CHANGES in the ECONOMY?
Answer: It doesn't look good. Obama's financial advisors include the followng people:
JEFFREY LIEBMAN: SOCIAL SECURITY: In a 2005 policy paper Liebman advocated a mix of benefit cuts, tax increases and mandatory personal accounts.
DAVID CUTLER: HEALTHCARE: He Says High Health Care Costs are Good.
AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: RICH GETTING RICHER, EVERYBODY ELSE GETTING POORER:
The stagnation of middle- and working-class incomes, and the anxiety this has generated, is, he says, a most pressing problem, but policymakers must be mindful about trying to address its root cause, which Goolsbee says is "radically increased returns to skill." ( i.e. College degrees are paying off more & more --- which is true, BUT Certainly DOES NOT account for the rise of the super rich, nor the increasing poverty of everyone else.)
(Evidently, Goolsbee's not old enough to remember the beginning of that Income Inequality, or to recognize THE CAUSE. It began in 1981. THE CAUSE of it was and is that Reagan cut the top tax rate DOWN from 70% to the low 30% s, AND Corporations all over America BEGAN instituting "THE TWO-TIER WAGE STRUCTURE'. i.e. Pay the people at the top a LOT MORE, Pay Everybody Else a LOT LESS. (If you searched old newspaper archives from the early 1980s you would find newspaper articles about the sudden appearance of the Two-Tier Wage Structure.)
3. Are we likely to get GOOD CHANGES in Foreign Policy?
Answer: Not Likely.
Among a dozen or so Foreign Policy Advisors the most "senior" advisor is:
Zbigniew Brzezinski. Former National Security Advisor to President Carter. Using the CIA & Billions of dollars, he ginned up a War in Afghanistan .... seeking as he said to "give the Soviet Union its own Vietnam.".
He Created the Taliban and Al Queda/ JIHAD/madrassa brainwashing schools for that purpose. Supported the dictator Pol Pol who massacred millions of Cambodian villagers. When asked, if in hindsight, considering that Al Queda eventually attacked America, and Pol Pot slaughtered millions - IF he would change anything he had done .... Zbig answered NO, he was satisfied with the results.
Electing Obama President is not likely to reassure the rest of the world that the U.S. is going to cease having an insane foreign policy; is likely to put Russia on an even more nervous hair trigger than they are now.
The major problem with Obama and his advisiors is they are ACADEMICS who have lived the life of privilege out of touch with the real world --- Better educated and smarter than Bush's gang --- they are still likely to do just as badly at running the government --- for the same reason: OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY ... i.e. insane....people doing insane things.
4. Are we likely to get GOOD CHANGES in: appointing competent qualified people to run the government; instead of cronyism, or good changes that get rid of fraud, payoffs, and corruption in government?
Answer: No.
Because: Obama's friend Rezko was part and parcel of the mafia connected, corrupt, Daley Chicago political machine. Rezko was Obama's chief fundraiser from the beginning of his career in Illinois politics to his election to the U.S. Senate. There is very little coverage of the Obama Rezko/Daley corruption connections on National TV, but the local Chicago papers have a lot of info going back several years ... & it don't look good for Obama. He got IN with the Daley machine when his wife worked as an assistant to one of Daley's higher ups; Obama looks to be part and parcel of the same corrupt Daley political machine as his friend Rezko.
Some of the above is speculation based on facts.. What I KNOW Obama HAS ALREADY DONE makes all the above doubts and questions irrelevant in answering the question:
Is Obama qualified to be, or likely to be, a GOOD President?
Answer: NO. He has already done something so unconscionable, so dirty, so dangerous that no sane American would even consider voting for him. HE played the race card.
Those accusations of racism against the Clintons did not come from any public "Outcry" on the part of black people all over the country - those accusations of racism came solely and directly from the Obama Campaign. Obama was caught red-handed pushing those accusations to the press - in a 4-page Internal Campaign Memo - Listing those accusations & directing them to the press. The Huffington Post obtained a copy & published it on the web.
Shortly thereafter, during one of the debates, Tim Russert (MSNBC) ..... while rustling a copy of the 4-page Memo in his hand .... asked Obama .... your campaign has been pushing accusations of racism to the press (rustles pages) .... in a 4-page campaign memo .... what do you have to say about that?
Obama mumbled a few sentences ....( people in both campaigns get carried away and say things they shouldn't have said ... blah..blah) .... and .... then MSNBC/ the mainstream media .... NEVER MENTIONED IT AGAIN!.
Instead, MSNBC/NBC/CBS and all the rest of the mainstream CORPORATE-CONTROLLED media just went right on endlessly PUSHING the SAME totally ridiculous false accusations of "racism".
Obama made those accusations of racism .... in order to win the South Carolina primary. Obama has continued to make accusations of racism ... every time .... he falls behind in the polls. The question is: What USE of RACISM / inter-racial strife would he NOT stoop to IF elected President.
Which brings us to the Question: Is it likely Obama will TRANSCEND race... .Get Past the Politics of DIVISION;.. .....Unite this Country?
Given the DIVISION he has already created by making false accusations of racism - the answer is a resounding:
HELL NO!
Obama is the CORPORATE-CONTROLLED candidate being PUSHED by the CORPORATE-CONTROLLED Media.
Same Media that sold TOO MANY AMERICANS on Bush/Cheney. Same Media that SOLD U.S. a War.

PB.... tell me, what did she do? you don't need to go into detail.... just give me the broad strokes! in her "35 years" what has she accomplished? i was at ground zero with the health care initiative. i can easily tell you what she did... to screw that up.
Considering i am the one who started that "what did she do..." string, my question was: "what has SHE done. we know it wasn't ANYTHING in bosnia. it was all done and "in the can" for a couple of years by the time she showed up. we know it wasn't Ireland Peace Plan (no need to go into detail on that one i suppose. just ask senator george mitchell), we know it was nothing more than maybe "pillow talk" with the children's health care plan (ask senators hatch and kennedy... Bill wouldn't even sign it)... we know it wasn't speaking up against the stupid stupid war!
what was it that SHE did? not something that someone else did that she made sure HER name was on it.
i mean, when you think of it, she didn't even write her own book (It Takes A Village). It was written by a ghost writer.
i am open. i really am. i really want to know what it is that this person has accomplished in those 35 years! 35 years is a long long time to be doing one thing (public serivce). what did she do with those 35 years?

ohionative: i have been dying to find someone from that place! do you know that Ohio is seen as pretty much the "political screwups" of this country? you guys zig when you should zag! example: you will BELIEVE Hilary when she says she was "against" NAFTA... AND... believe her when she says Barack is FOR it!
you've pulled this crap every election cycle... and because of your horrible judgment, we have had a string of LOSERS!
when this is over.... i really have to think about going to Ohio and selling some bridges!

mike moody: get a job. you have way way too much time on your hands. Barack isn't going to sell us down the river to Africa! my god man... where were you when Bill Clinton was selling us down the river to China? (on the behalf of Wal-Mart of course!)
what is it that just scares people about a black man?
Posted by: drzoon | Apr 7, 2008 9:22:09 PM
Hillary has surpassed all measures of deceptions and political trickery for a candidate to a public office, let alone the presidency!! What is interesting about her die heart supporters is that all of this evil is OK with them and is part of the war to get elected. What this shows is hatred for this country pure and simple; hatred for democracy, and for decent values in the political system of government and a blatant enforcement of Machiavellian system that puts this country at the doorstep of Nazism. Yes, Randell is that kind of person and is willing to destroy this country for this political agenda.

I was very impressed by Governor Rendell's comments. He made a lot of sense. The fact is that Barack Obama is a well packaged liberal candidate about which people know nothing. He speaks only in generalities and everything he does is calculated not to offend, but nothing he does tells you where he stand or what you are actually voting for in the election.
I am more concerned about Barack Obama than I have been about any candidate for federal office than I have in a very long time because he is openly deceptive about where he stands. I think he will place certain things first, and we will only learn what those things that are near and dear to Barack Obama's heart after the election. He will not be a President to place America first. He will place Africa First. That is the missionary emphasis of the church of Jeremiah Wright. There is a lot of emphasis about Reverend Writght, but I think it is important to note what the teaching of the church are about the kind of works that Americans should do. No one is asking Barack Obama these questions.
Finally, I want to make one predicition about the Presidency of Barack Obam. Senator Obama has gone at great lengths recently to repudiate the words of Jeremiah Wright. But I predict that Jeremiah Wright, the man who is recorded as saying "God damn you, America", will be the one person Barack Obama will choose to administer the Oath of Office. That will be the first clue to Americans that will tell them what kind of President they have elected. But by then, though they will know they have chosen a deceiver for President, it will be too late. But don't go by what Mike Moody says. Ask Barack Obama a straight out question. Who will you choose to administer the Oath of Office to you when you are publicly sworn into office as President of the United States.
Posted by: Mike Moody | Apr 5, 2008 9:53:34 AM
Isn't it ironic that Obama can tout his anti-war speech that he made while still a state senator, but he can't produce any personal papers, daily schedules, et al to get a sense of his background??
And the worst of it is his, my dog ate my homework excuse, saying that they must have gotten thrown out or put in storage.
So, which is it? There's a good reason we don't know enough about Barack Obama, but he's been pretty busy making sure that all of the data known to man gets released about Hillary. Now that the taxes have been released, I'd like to see the press put the heat on Obama to produce his personal papers while in the State Senate.
Isn't it common procedure and protocol to maintain such records as a public figure?
I guess the fewer records the less likely more embarrassing information will surface.
Just another fine example of the double standard for the two candidates running for the democratic nomination.

The Hillary haters just crack me up! I read comments that say Hillary has not accomplished anything in the Senate. That could be farther from the truth! If you people did your research instead of acting like you know what you are talking about, you would find out that Hillary has gotten several things done as a Senator from New York. You Hillary haters just don't want to know the real facts, thats all. I have family that live in Pennsylvania, and they like Gov. Ed Rendell. sc, yes he has a day job, its called the Governor of Pennsylvania.
Posted by: PB | Apr 5, 2008 1:28:28 AM
". . . I will grant you that, but I would say there's also about 50% about Barack Obama that we don't know yet," Rendell said.
Only 50% that is not known about Obama? That seems low.
Posted by: Toby | Apr 4, 2008 8:50:19 PM
Ed Rendell got to be a Mr. Head or worst. What a man saying such a thing about his own party. He must be a Republican. He's been talking a lot of crap lately. Desperation or he's just an idiot. I wonder what Hilary promise him..... Man they are just so hateful now the true colors coming out. Destroying the Dem. party very slowly.
Posted by: Dell54 | Apr 4, 2008 5:45:24 PM
Obama did five hours of work for Rezko. He did accept campaign donations from Tony Rezko, over $120,000 of which he subsequently donated to charity. The purchase of the property adjoining his home with Rezko's help was stupid. He should sell it. If he does, there's nothing to talk about.
The other candidates are no cleaner in this respect. John McCain was deeply involved with the Keating 5. Hillary Clinton took $850k from Norman Hsu, most of which she kept.
The main difference is that most Americans are accustomed to being lied to by Clintons and they don't realize how often John McCain lies. They don't know Barack Obama as well, so every story comes as a shock. I sometimes fear his arrogance will get the better of him. I hope his intelligence and his authentic desire to help our country trump that.
Posted by: Danielle | Apr 4, 2008 3:08:40 PM
He stayed at the church for the reason most people stay at their churches- because they believe in God and Jesus and want to learn the lessons of Christianity. Until you've watched the other videos and truly given Wright the benefit of the doubt, you have not right to judge Obama.
Posted by: Didi | Apr 4, 2008 2:54:46 PM
Unfortunately america will deserve the president that is elected.
Posted by: Kim | Apr 4, 2008 2:27:02 PM
Whoops! They're baaaaack. Funny thing is they ask for evidence, you give it to em', then they say it doesn't mean anything.
Truth is, they don't want to look at facts, make an informed decision, admit that their candidate may not be ready, or worse yet, have to realize that Barack is a FRAUD who is simply not electable.
I have seen this pattern by the Obama supporters for quite some time now and have come to realize that their main objective is to derail the talking points. This is how they try to keep the truth from being told. Ed Rendell is spot on about Obama. No one knows a thing about this guy. What little we do know is either uneventful or downright creepy.

Anna in LA,
sorry you didn't like the popcorn. I'll put butter on it next time. So with all of Hillarys accomplishments how is it she can't even run her own campaign. That says a lot about her. Having "accomplishments" does not mean that she can run this country.

It's interesting that Rendell, as a Clinton supporter, receives the disparaging term of chief surrogate. In McCain speak: Surrogate, when designated as a pejorative for one individual, could also be extended to the individuals comprising the collective group. Have a nice day.
Posted by: katrina | Apr 4, 2008 1:04:59 PM
Hey! Just because Rendell is backing Clinton doesn't make him the enemy! Jeez! He's endorsing her, so of course he's "selling" her to the electorate! Do you all really want another Republican to beat him next time? If not, shut the Hell up about him being the worst thing since Satan, and focus on the real opposition - the Reactionary Right. Neither Clinton nor Obama, or their spokespeople are the enemy!
Posted by: michael | Apr 4, 2008 1:00:13 PM
My question to Ed Redell is, "If you actually believe all that you have been stating concerning Barack Obama, when he become the nominee, how in good faith could you support and campaign for him?"
Posted by: Karen | Apr 4, 2008 12:34:36 PM
There may be 50% we don't know about Obama, but there's 90% we don't know about Hillary Clinton. The remaining 10% we do know is not good.
Wake up people.

Michelle's salary went from 120,000 to 340,000 two months after Barack became a Senator. She also was let into Harvard with poor grades etc. can one say affirmative action. We are going to grind these 2 imposters into the dirt as Rendel says ....Wrights sermone will be heard everyday with the question attached....'COULD YOU STAY IN A CHURCH THAT PREACHED SO MUCH HATE? COULD YOU? DO YOU WANT A PRESIDENT WHO DID AND STILL DOES? THINK ABOUT IT...." NOW THATS AN AD....

Every now and then some surrogate makes a comment and some accept it as the gospel truth because the read on the internet.
Rendall claims that we don't no 50% about Obama... Let me see, he's already written 2 bestsellers about his life; exposing a lot of things that most people. especially candidates wouldn't admit to.
If 50% about him is not known; then how does anyone know what's not known to measure.
This is a crock.... A fearmongery that's is typical of the Clinton campaign. It's Rendall's function to raise nebulous doubts about Obama; the media's to spread it and the gullible's to fall for it every time.
Just because the Clintons' lives are full of so many sordid twist and turns doesn't make Obama's life that complicated as well.
Is Hillary fully vetted as she claims ?
Tax Returns ...

We know Bush Sr as a man of wisdom, we know him as a person who applied judgement to a war but the Bush Jr is opposite, that is what John McCain is following.
Now we know something about Obama, he is a type of person who stood by his words even under difficult time, we know him as a person who use good judgement to opposed Iraq war, we know him as a person who can unite us, who can bring change.
But we know Hillaryb as who tell lies in order to gain credibility, we also known her to be somebody who can destroy other in order to get what she want.
To my imagination Gov. Rendell still telling us that we did not know this guy call Obama.
If he want to know more about Obama, let him go to Havard University and find out more about Obama, He will know more about him.
The little we known about Obama make him more electable to us. not the people who tell lies in order for us to like them.

What Rendell is saying is a point in time statement....one thing hopefully experience has taught us about the Clintons though is that there is always another scandal just around the corner...

wow. LOL. "The 527s" have become a bigger boogeyman than Al Qaeda.
Ed Rendell has just pronounced 527s more powerful and influential than the truth.
Posted by: D.A. | Apr 4, 2008 9:18:28 AM
Rendell is not exactly the gospel of truth and consistency. He speaks much faster than he can think and would not attribute one iota of attention to what is pouring out of his mouth!

Well, the 90% we do know about Hillary is NOT GOOD so yeah you can win on Racism and lies but that's not the person I want in the White House. It's unbeleiveable how the people that Hillary surrounds herself with keep bringing up the Race issue (Ferraro and now Randell). PATHETIC!"You've got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate," Rendell told the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday's paper.MSBCnews

The Obama supporters here obviously have computers and internet access. Take a break from posting valentines and do a little research instead. Look at the information you see with a jaundiced eye not blinded by adoration. What do you think the Republicans and 527s will do with this info in the general election?
Then consider that when they shed light on these things that Hillary and the MSM refuse to, how many Republicans and centrist Americans are going to rally around McCain? Obama will keep the strong base he holds now, but even some of his current supporters will either stay home or vote McCain.
I'm convinced that the Reps and 527s are ready and waiting for Obama. They're hoping that new revelations don't come to light before Hillary is out of it and Obama is theirs to crush.

Nothing you can every say about Hillary can compare with "God Damn America". Many people don't like the sound of it. It's divisive, uncivilized and racist.
The old white men of this country are willing to give the damning of America a pass. Why? Because right now, Obama is the cash cow. The old white men in power love the color green. Democrats are an embarrasement. McCain looks good in comparison.

the hillary is vetted argument is about the biggest insult to intelligence one can think of ... the clintons owe allof us who defended bill big time, the well has been dry for years

Well it is a 100% we know about hillary and Bill and 99% of that is all bad!

Just the fact that Gov Rendell is a Clinton supporter limits creditability to what he has to say. I strongly disagree with the statement the more people get to know Hillary the more people will like her. It should go like this the more people get to know Hillary, the more you find out flaws in her character, such as: divisiveness, blatant opportunist dangerously ambitious, untrustworthy
direspectful of rules qualities that would make a very poor leader.

Why isn’t the mainstream media exposing the real Barack Obama?
No one really knows his record (not that he has one).
No one really knows his background (that he appears to be hiding)
No one is exposing his term as an Illinois senator (if you really call him that)
No one is really challenging him on his religious beliefs (once a Muslim, always a …)
No one is asking him about is real estate deals with the criminal in Illinois (and the governor)
No one is talking about his leniency on illegals (giving illegals drivers license)
No one is scrutinizing associations with Libia, Farakhan, and the same (which he associated with)
No one is trying to find out where all his money is really coming from (illegally?)
No one is exposing all his lies (he actually out lies Hillary by large amounts)
Why isn’t the media all over him, as they should be?
This man is dangerous. Where is all his money coming from? Who is REALLY financially backing him? All the housewives and college people do not have that kind of money! Really…I sincerely think an investigative report should be done just on his finances alone.
I have tried to post articles about him on my site (http://www.ziggidy.com) that others may not know about him…and IMO, there are TONS more waiting to be uncovered.
But who will do it and why has it not been done yet. Rev. Wright is just the tip of the iceberg…I am convinced of it.
Signed,
A Typical White Person, with a garlic nose!

Lately Obama has been offering kisses to the ladies. He is hoping that all those who support Hillary will rush to his side to defend him against McCain. All I can say is, don’t depend on it, Barry. You might have to win this one on your own.
Of course, he and the others will blame Hillary for his loss. Rendell is trying to point this out to you, but you’re too busy throwing rocks to listen. But, that’s okay. McCain is smiling all the time these days for nothing.
Posted by: Milo, MA | Apr 4, 2008 6:50:37 AM
Just because half of the Democrats like Obama, it doesn't mean any Republicans like him.
It's going to be ugly, children. That's all Rendell is trying to tell you.
Posted by: Milo, MA | Apr 4, 2008 6:40:00 AM
I don't understand how Gov Rendell can continue to say that Hillary Clinton is the stronger candidate. It leads one to question his judgement as well. How can Hillary Clinton, who tries to bolster her foreign policy experience by telling lies about encountering sniper fire, who made up another story about it when shown a photo, and then only admitted to it after being presented with video footage of the actual event, along with a husband who lied to the American people about his immoral behavior as President- how can she be the stronger candidate??? What is Gov Rendell talking about? He seems to be discounting all the evidence of Barack Obama's strength, completely forgeting his honest and courageous speech on race during a difficult period. I cannot imagine Hillary Clinton approaching a crisis in the same level-headed manner. Barack Obama is the superior candidate in every way- he has integrity, judgement, intelligence, and in addition, the ability to motivate and inspire!

Rendell has become a hatchet man for the Clinton Liar's Club

Rendell needs to go back to where he came from. His 5 minutes of fame have turned in to 5 minutes of insanity.

"Hillary campaign goes berserk"
[actually berserk_ly bizarre] next US media headlines... not just Hillary has lost any hope 4 office now or in future... getting all this dirty... i think her political career is over... she has demonstrated that she is not even worthy as member of the senate... All her SDs will have to pay in some political measure... but this Ed fella will pay dearly... some court cases pending against him i guess...
every trick of dirty tactics she plays will turn topsy turvy... no spin gonna work either... her basic personality traits with bad planning and managment made her a looser... and a bad looser @ that...

Lisa and Dr. Zoon:
You wanted to know what Hillary Clinton has accomplished by herself?
FactChecker.org lists the following legislation that Senator Clinton sponsored on her own (not "co-sponsored" like most of Obama's proposed billes) WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN ENACTED INTO LAW:
1) SB694 - A bill to direct the Secty of Transportation toissue regulations to reduce the incidence of child injury and death occurring inside or outside of light motor vehicles, and for other purposes. (110th congress)
2) SB272- A bill designating National Forest System land in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico as a component of the National Wildnerness Preservation System (109th Congress)
3) A bill amending the Public Health Service Act to establish a program to assist family caregivers in acessing affordable and high-quality respite care (109th Congress);
4)SB 1425, A bill to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act to reauthorize the New York City Watershed Protection program (108th Congress);
5) SB 1422, A bill to provide for the expedited payment of certain benefits to public safety officers who were killed or suffered a catastrophic injury as a direct and proximate result of a personal injury sustained in the line of duty in connection with 9/11 (107th Congress)
6) SB 1622, A bill to extend the period of availability of unemployment assistance in the case of victims of the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 (107th Congress)
7) SB 2496, A bill to provide for the establishment of investigative teams to assess building performance and emergency response and evacuation procedures in the wake of any building failure that has resulted in substantial loss of life or that posed significant potential of substantial loss of life (107th Congress)
Other accomplishments on her own:
7) One of only two women appointed to the staff of the House Judiciary Committee on the impeachment of Richard Nixon;
8) Appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation, a federal nonprofit organization that provides Legal Services to the poor, when she was only 30 years old;
9) Staff attorney for the Children's Defense fund, working with Exec. Director Marian Wright Edelman;
10) Led the American Bar Association's Commission on Women in the [Legal] Profession, which did some of the earliest work and studies on sexual harassment and equal pay;
11) Served on the national Boards of the Childrens' Defense Fund, the Child Care Action Campaign, and the Children's Television workshop;
12) Graduate of Yale Law School and Wellesley college;
13) Voted to be first student commencement speaker at Wellesley College;
14) Re-elected to be Senator of New York with 67% of the vote.
What have either of you or Senator Obama accomplished that even comes close to this level of public service?
Lisa, you can sneer all you want about popcorn and pillows, but I doubt you will ever in your life accomplish anything close to what Senator Clinton has.

Rendell knows Barack Obama, but he doesn't KNOW Barack Obama. Where is he coming from with this? He's trying to scare people. He is too calculating.
Posted by: Rainy | Apr 4, 2008 3:42:49 AM
I'm willing to bet that the 50% we don't
know about Obama is just as good as the
50% we do know.
That is integrity, honesty, conscience,
and empathy. It's also the courage to
face the problem head-on and not be
disingenuous. Unfortunately, I can't
say the same about Hillary.

He is what is wrong with the party. Big machine politics pushing his candidate no matter what he has to say or do.
Wonder what we don't know about him.
Posted by: maxmcgloin | Apr 4, 2008 2:41:52 AM
Well, the 90% we do know about Hillary is NOT GOOD so yeah you can win on Racism and lies but that's not the person I want in the White House. It's unbeleiveable how the people that Hillary surrounds herself with keep bringing up the Race issue (Ferraro and now Randell). PATHETIC!"You've got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate," Rendell told the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday's paper.MSBCnews

This man is a sloth. Apparently no self control..he should fit right in with Bill.....He is unlikable and I wonder how he ever go elected in the first place! Is he looking for a job with the Clintons? Isn't he aware they eat idiots like him for lunch? What a pin head!
Posted by: Deanna | Apr 4, 2008 2:31:33 AM
This poor bigot tried for 16 years to get elected and now he is ignoring his state while he tries for a job in a magical win with Clinton. He keeps trying to ignite the Wright issue again...and he just dosen't get it...no one cares anymore...so good luck with finding that other 50% that the voters that have elected him 3 time in IL have not found LOL Obama has been in elected office for 8 years...anyone with a brain KNOWS where he stands on most issues just like we all KNOW Clinton is a pattern liar...but hey he thinks those Republican 527's won't go after her? Right when monkey's fly outa her rear!
Posted by: Brian | Apr 4, 2008 2:27:52 AM
Rendell is just one more example of a Clinton campaign that's completely out of touch. Of all the surrogates in the Clinton camp, THIS is the one who's front and center? Yeesh! He's as bad as Nita Lowey! Out of touch, out of ideas, out of options...Clinton 2008!
Posted by: Anne | Apr 4, 2008 2:15:41 AM
Fifty percent of the country doesn't like Hillary because of the vague memories we have of all she's been involved in and because she continually proves to us that she lies first and thinks later all the time. If she should become the nominee, the republicans would see to it that we all remembered every single little nasty detail. The stuff in Obama's column is small potatoes in comparison. I hope the country doesn't have to go through that again.
Posted by: karela | Apr 4, 2008 2:05:35 AM
Rendell is really a very unappealing person. There is a huge disconnect between his words and his demeanor and his behavior. Creepy
Posted by: JDS | Apr 4, 2008 1:58:39 AM
there's something about Rendell that's increasingly creepy. he comes off like a Mafia guy who won't burn your house down as long as you stay on his good side.
i'm not sure he's an asset to Clinton's campaign.
Posted by: matt | Apr 4, 2008 1:43:44 AM
And now we fined out that Obama is a smoker.
Posted by: Fran | Apr 4, 2008 1:39:20 AM
When Rendell was chairman of the DNC, he took $15,000 from Rezko.
He's swings deals with Bill's buddy Ron Burkle.
He's sucked up to the Clinton'so he can get in on the bounty.

jayhawk... and jim.
who is our enemy in Iraq?
Posted by: drzoon | Apr 4, 2008 12:51:05 AM
Jayhawk, Cheney and his thugs wanted a war because of oil. Bush claimed mission accomplished, what a moron. Iraq is in a civil war because of us. And please don't say regardless or how we got there.......We wouldn't be there if Rove and Chaney weren't in office.
Posted by: lisa | Apr 4, 2008 12:45:11 AM
And, of course, the big news tonight was the leaders of the Wright church and denomination that fostered Obama's religious beliefs for the past 20 years or so.
The "spiritual advisor" and "old uncle" just seems to keep coming back again, and again, and again.
But, as was reflected on CNN, the best about the Wright saga is yet to come.
Posted by: Jayhawk | Apr 4, 2008 12:41:09 AM
jayhawk... do you know what "fell the roman empire"?
Posted by: drzoon | Apr 4, 2008 12:38:32 AM
Regardless of how the Iraq Conflict started, we are there.
While I didn't agree with the reasons and methods used to get us into war, we are there.
If we were not, Sadaam and the Iranians would control the oil in the Middle East.
The gasoline that people complain about at $3 or $4 a gallon would be about twice as much.
Like it or not, we are there.
And, while I don't support McCain, he has this one right.
Promising the American public that our troops can all be brought home in one year or less reeks of political pandering and shows "no experience or background at all in national security affairs."
Posted by: Jayhawk | Apr 4, 2008 12:33:33 AM
Why Obama supporters are angry of what Rendell has to say the truth is. Even them they still don't know the real Obama but just go blind and deaf of what Obama has done to deceive the voters. His campaign ads are fooling the voters ( big oil issue) , all the facts about his resume is doubful including the truth of his enthenicity, whether he is half Arab or Black. If truth hurts, and reality bites their pride of choosing Obama.. just be honest .. I am sure they are also having doubts about their Idol.
Posted by: asd | Apr 4, 2008 12:27:46 AM
Jayhawk, I'm talking about the war in Iraq, which we have no business being there. The republicans did that to us.
Posted by: lisa | Apr 4, 2008 12:22:11 AM
Republicans and war?
Perhaps a lesson in history would be in order. Let's start with the 20th century and proceed:
World War I - President Woodrow Wilson- Democrat
World War II - President Franklin Roosevelt - Democrat
Korean War - President Harry Truman - Democrat (Eisenhower inherited the problems from this one)
Viet Nam Conflict - Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson (Nixon inherited the problems from this one)
Iraq - President George H.W. Bush - Republican
Bosnia - President William Clinton - Democrat
Iraq/Afghanistan - President George W. Bush - Republican
Many other small conflicts were about evenly spread among the two parties, but, by far, Democrats qualify as producing significant loss of life and destruction of property in American wars.
Or, is there an Obama spin to this one, too?
Posted by: Jayhawk | Apr 4, 2008 12:17:51 AM
Don't you think that Obama has national security advisors all around him. Omg, please no more republicans and war. Our troops need to come home.
Posted by: lisa | Apr 3, 2008 11:56:52 PM
Today, Republican John McCain portrayed Barack Obama as a national security neophyte who was dishonestly misrepresenting him on Iraq.
McCain questioned Obama's plan to leave a "strike force" of US troops in the Middle East after an eventual withdrawal from Iraq, and accused him of being "disingenuous" about his own Iraq stance.
Obama has pledged to end the war in Iraq in 2009 amd said this week that he would leave enough troops in the country to defend the US embassy, along with a strike force in the region to hobble Al-Qaeda.
"I think somebody ought to ask what in the world he's talking about, especially since he has no experience or background at all in national security affairs," said McCain.

Well I'm still waiting to hear what Hillary has accomplished.......anyone????
Posted by: lisa | Apr 3, 2008 11:50:50 PM
okay.... well... i take that as ....
nothing? hilary ... HERSELF... hasn't accomplished .. ANYTHING?
let me help you. its looks like she did a pretty good job as a mother. Chelsea seems like a good person.. and hasn't been pulled over for DUI.
there... how's that?
Posted by: drzoon | Apr 3, 2008 11:43:53 PM
as you might know... with you backing another Jr Senator yourself. when you are not in the majority.. its pretty much impossible to get anything through "the machine". Sr Senators like to keep you in your place.. and if your party is not the majority party... its even more difficult.
but along with the bill (that was passed and signed) to protect vets in the VA... he also got the best ethics bill drafted and passed and signed in a long long time. he did it with uniting freshman class in the new senate... both sides of the isle.
i'm pretty sure you and i both know Hilary wasn't anywhere to be found when all of that was happening.
so... your turn
