McCain is the most honest of the three people running. But I'm finally learning a little about where he wants to take the country and it's sounds like more of the same if not worse. He wants tax cuts for corporations, including big oil; major changes to health insurance, including those of us who already have insurance; a "win" in Iraq, which can only mean that we spend more American lives to build an Islamic government; views on domestic issues that don't square with what most Americans believe, and a little faking with the evangelicals. I like that he's sometimes brutally honest, but I just don't like his policies and I don't want my daughter to have to pay for them for the rest of her life.

Ihave always advocated that presidential candidates should have a psychological evaluation.McCAIN( killed abel) is living proof that it is very much needed.

Obama stumbled on Iraq/Iran....I'm sure he knows the difference....perhaps it's all about alliteration

This is only fair to discuss, along with 100 Years, because the other two would have been pilloried for these constant mistakes. These are not misstatements. They could be lack of knowledge, which trashes the 'experience' angle McCain once had.

The impetus behind McCain's war making urges are clear,ignorance of the facts and a possibly senile mind steeped in bigotry. Let's not forget that he "hated the gooks."

McCain is a great American and a soldier of a different era. His shoot first and then think about what was said is becoming very common. When he stacks up against the an agile and sharp democratic nominee like Obama and enters a one on one debate he will certainly not shine and then it will become apparent to his most closest supporters that he is not going to be the best president for 2009 and onwards. He looks like the person who people will say after he has gone that he was not in his prime when he reached his seventies. McCain will serve well as a senator and should continue that role.

I don't have much confidence in Republicans in general, but I could vote for Mr. McCain. I don't think I could vote for either of the two Democrats. Where is Jake Tapper's headline of Obama confusing Iraq and Iran.

This media bias against McCain is unfair and bad for the democratic process. You have Obama making a gaffe which is getting no attention.

Iran is the one who is directing these special groups and Obama made a gaffe saying it was the iraqi government.

Putting the verbal gaffes and "gotcha" moments aside, the larger question here is whether McCain understands the major dynamics of the conflict in Iraq. These campaigns are tiring.

You are going to multiple fundraisers a day across the country, different events, flying back to the senate to vote, overseas trips.

These candidates don't sleep. The campaign has been going on non stop for 15 months.

Lets put it in some context. They are human beings not robots.

As president McCain won't be doing 20 fundraisers a week and then going to a hearing on no sleep.

I saw McCain yesterday in DC he was early in the morning at a vets rally standing there for a while in the rain.

The media is missing the context of what mccain said in the hearing. He was making light of himself for what happened in jordan.

What does matter, is McCain has a "cold-war" perspective on war and from the numerous "misspeaks" he has uttered, one could easily surmise that he groups all Muslims together as the enemy.

McCain is so set on "victory" in this war, he cares little for the ideologies that separate the various Muslim sects and the even the subtleties that separate the various clans of the Shia. My question I have asked more often than I can remember is who is this enemy? Since there is no answer to this question, our warmongering leaders will eventually focus on Iran to define the enemy, as we are already seeing. When we cannot define an enemy, let's go find one. The PR machine is working hard for this.

What we have heard from the present administration:
• Iran has “malign” influence in Iraq
• Iran is equipping various militias in Iraq
• Iran has been secretly been developing enriched uranium for nuclear warheads
• Iran has taken a more imperialistic approach within the region

These arguments are put forth so that in the event our administration chooses to go to war with Iran, they will have already laid the groundwork necessary for Congress and the citizenry to accept this decision. This would be a monstrous mistake trumping all the mistakes we did in Vietnam and Iraq combined.

We can get out of this in a fairly quick manner if we do just one thing: Stop trying to force a secular democracy on these peoples in the middle of the Arab Muslim world. There are too many opponents to that approach within Iraq itself and all the neighboring countries. If we allow the natural tribal leaders to put into place whichever form of government the majority can buy into, we can extract ourselves from this tar pit. And by empowering the many, many tribal leaders, this will prevent a full blown Iranian influence within Iraq, because these tribal leaders have their own agendas. To me this seems the only way out. Unfortunately, this is going to be incredibly hard to sell to the American people.
