Obama Campaign Says White Race-Based Voters Are McCain's

April 25, 2008 5:28 PM

In an interview with National Journal's Linda Douglass, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe downplays the impact Obama's race will have on any November match-up, saying "the vast, vast majority of voters who would not vote for Barack Obama in November based on race are probably firmly in John McCain's camp already."

It's an interesting assertion. One not particularly born out by polling or data, but interesting nonetheless.

Come on, everybody. What he's saying is this: the voters who don't want to vote for a black man because he is black will most probably vote for a white man. It's pretty simple and logical. If someone won't vote for Obama because he is black, he can't change his race, so they consequently will vote for McCain.

OBAMA CLINTON WHO CARES AS LONG AS IT A DEMOCRAT THIS TIME!!McCAIN YOU ARE STUPID AND YOU SPENDING YOUR MONEY IS JUST PROOF!!

Basically what David Plouffe is saying that whoever not vote for Obama is a racist.

Why Obama campaign always play the race card? People do not vote him because of his inexperience candidate not because of race. Let focus on the real issues instead of the race, people are tired on this.

Obama and his apostles are blowing smoke once again. Obama is bad for America and an embarrassment to the Democratic Party.

at "at get real, get a grip" pt

If your guy obama wants to in his words
wants to "restore the moral authority of the us with the rest of the world"
he is going to have to assist the dnc deal with fl and mi. you say fl and mi will come around-and mc will get trounced? you see this is what I think obama has spread among his followers to have them listen to the flowery speeches, and not ask any questions, let me give a little bit of what I think is the big picture
as HRC said "this is not a game"
the dnc cannot punish by disinfranchising two whole states of voters-you are talking about peoples lives and the issues that they face and them having a say in how those issues are dealt with. Now unfortunately, the majority of my black brothers and sisters have not bothered to check the issues-to really see in barack is the one-that is going to address the issues that are of importance to them. If they had questioned a bit-they may have decided he did not have their best interest at heart. the same with the people of fl and mi. appartently the voters of fl (in a big way decided that
barack was not the one to help them
now couple that with the dnc punishing them for wanting to have a say in this election-and saying "you did wrong, you are on punishment-your votes don't count"-
PT-let me ask you how will the trampled trounce?
not to mention the disinfranchisement of the Sen. Clinton supporters.
who will trounce?
if obama gets the dem. nomination-the dems will not win.
I believe the american people when we go to vote in nov. (and I really do believe this) will go with mcwar-knowing the consequences, than go with an unknown that has a questionable short politcal resume'-we do not know what we will get with obama. No one has really asked "What kind of change are you talking about-and exactly how will you start-and what will the american people see-with this Change he is talking about?" as HRC said-if obama wins the washington establishment are not going to just pack up and leave town.and it will not be "his way or the highway" No obama will go to wash. and be even more entrenched with the wash est. esp the dem. est. because they will have put him there (they are all ready pulling for him) and he will owe
everybody.

are the dems going to go to their convention in denver with a 48star flag?

what a sham
so good-night "get real, get a grip pt"
oh yes, and start trying to get your mind around the fact that obama will not be POTUS in 2008

ebony, I guess black people were wrong because they voted for Bill Clinton. Now they say he is the worst person in the world.

Posted by: tww | Apr 25, 2008 9:54:05 PM

OBAMA WANTS CHANGE. DOES US BELIEVE IN CHANGE ? DOES US BELIEVE IN OBAMA ? IF BOTH ANSWRS ARE IN AFFIRMATIVE, VOTE OBAMA. THERE IS NO QUESTION OF RACE.

WHAT HILLARY CLINTON AND McCAIN ARE NOW SAYING AND DOING IS POLITICS - A PATH TO LEAD TO WHITE HOUSE AND THEN OCCUPY IT FOR 8 YEARS IF POSSIBLE !

I've seen a few comments that suggest that black people are ONLY voting for Obama because he's black. Does that mean that prior to Obama black people were voting for other Presidential candidates because they were white? It seems to me that black people in general have a pretty good track record that shows their ability to vote for reasons other than race.

Posted by: ebony | Apr 25, 2008 9:37:45 PM

Anyone who won't for McCain in November based off race is already voting for Obama.

jgaw, get a grip. The rest of the world could care less about FL & MI. The DNC was right to discipline these 2 states. Hopefully like a punished child they will learn, and also other states will learn to follow the rules. FL & MI votes will come around once they see the choice we have in the fall. mc-more-war will get trounced. Obama 2008!!

I am so sick of Obama and his cronies turning everything into a racist situation. People are getting tired of it and it will backfire.

Posted by: tww | Apr 25, 2008 8:56:42 PM

Plouffe makes a really bad electablility argument for Obama.
So tell, me...we should nominate Obama so he can get destroyed in the General Election?

Posted by: OxyCon | Apr 25, 2008 8:35:36 PM

yes, obama has shown he can be the best candidate money can buy.
but here is something real for you.
Obama will not be POTUS 2008.
I will grant he has had some good favor
during his short political career.
voting present as a rep.
being hand picked by chicago est. dem.
to replace her.
and winning his position-not because he was the best candidate-but because the others has their own scandals.
what mr. obama has shown is he has had the good grace to just happen to be the last man standing-I think this is different from winning fair and square.
but this time around he is not the smartest candidate. and the longer we go the more it looks as if he will not be the last man standing this time.
Obama is not the better candidate to be president this time around.
I will grant he will most likely win nc
because the black people intelligent and the lead will vote for him-and some will not know one thing that he stands for-or except change.
but he will not win the rest of the primaries
and I do not care what his supporters dean, pelosi, and co. say
fl and mi will have to be resolved in some way other that what they are preposing now.
if we do not deal properly and honorably with fl and mi. this country and its political system will continue its decline in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Obama campaign: Everybody out there who does not vote for the Messiah Obama is a racist. It's getting sickening. It amazes me how many people can still support this man to be President.

Posted by: M Jordan | Apr 25, 2008 7:51:26 PM

Plouffe calls them racist; Chris Matthews already called them Archie Bunkers. Are we united yet... is this the part where Obama unites all of us? Oh, I'm seeing the light... he's uniting all of us AGAINST him. Got it!

Posted by: HoosierSue | Apr 25, 2008 7:44:06 PM

jgaw, get real. If Hillary were proactive her campaign would not be in debt. Anyone would agree that Obama has run a much better campaign (in the black) and is ready for the long haul. He seems much more "pro-active" and prepared to get this country out of debt and clean up the whole freakin mess bush/cheney has caused. I agree that Hillary and Obama are miles aheahd of mc-more-war, but Obama is the right person for the right time. Obama 2008!

Posted by: pt | Apr 25, 2008 7:36:03 PM

i must say, if obama and co. were as smart, experienced and seasoned as they have been telling us:
someone, somewhere in the planning of this campaign should have known things like this were bound to come up.
just as he and his people should have know the rev. wright issues would come up. and they should have had answers to these issues. whatever happened to being proactive?
I say they are inexperienced and not ready to be POTUS
or
i say they are very foolish and not ready to be POTUS

obama should not be the president of the united states

Sen. clinton is the only one between the three who has solutions for the issues that the us faces today.
obama only copies
and john mccain (?):)

Dennis, I'd be careful who you FL voters put in office. You guys screwed up the 2000 election, and your elected officials (republicans) moved your primary up illegally so that your delegates were eliminated. Let's all hope you FL voters don't screw up again in November....Obama 2008!!!

Posted by: pt | Apr 25, 2008 7:28:02 PM

toby, for starters he will get us out of this war in a careful way. That will save this country billions upon billions. People don't realize that this war will end up costing us $3,000,000,000,000.....that's trillion. mcmore-war will certainly keep us there much longer, costing us, our kids, grandkids, and great-grand-kids. Obama has the solid judgement to keep us out of future wars. (Those with kids need to really think about that when they say they will cross over and vote for mccain.) Look who the bush-league has benefited the last 7.5 years....the top %5. Isn't it time for the average american to share in this country's wealth. Obama 2008!
