Sharpton on Obama on Wright
April 29, 2008 11:47 PM
ABC News' Brinda Adhikari reports: Reacting to Sen. Barack Obama's comments today about his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright's inflammatory remarks at the National Press Club on Monday, the Rev. Al Sharpton told ABCNEWS that it took "a lot of courage for [Sen. Obama] to say some unequivocal statements against someone that has been dear to him, his pastor."
Calling Rev. Wright's comments "appalling" and "outrageous," Sen. Obama denounced the words of his former pastor.
When asked how the African-American community at large would respond to Sen. Obama's denunciation, Sharpton said that "some are going to agree, and some are going to disagree."
He quickly added: "But none of that is going to change my vote. There's no difference between what Barack Obama said he believes in today than when we first heard him four years ago at the 2004 convention."
And what of his fellow African-American clergymen, who might be in somewhat of an uncomfortable position over their loyalties to the black church versus the possibility of electing the first African-American president?
"I think that this is a very painful, and troubling issue particularly for those of us in the black church," responds Sharpton. "I think some would want to try and tell [Obama] what would be the right thing to do."
Ultimately, Sharpton said, "Barack Obama's not running against Jeremiah Wright. He's running against Mrs. Clinton and later, hopefully, John McCain. And when we choose between him and them, even if we disagree on the Rev. Wright controversy, I don't think it changes our vote on whether we think he'd be better for all Americans than his opponents."

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Sharpton on Obama on Wright:
Al Sharpton knows fully well Obamas ex-pastor has slowly ruined his chances of getting the nomination. With all the so-called church friends Obama has, Not one came out of the woodwork to show support for him which further indicates that Rev Wright sermons and other pastors like him clearly terrorize black churches up and down the country preaching the same madness. sorry to say that Black america is not stable or supportive enough to make progressive change from the outside looking in. Thats why we should thank God Barack is mixed raced. He can see clearly Way to go Obama but remember your on your own

SJ we saw Rev Wright disrespect himself by acting like a clown, I think he is too intelligent to have acted the way he did. He's trice degreed. The trash talk about 'yo moma' did it for me

The Real Story: Should Obama NOW Drop Out of Race Due to Racial Controversy?
It's not about Obama conveniently ending his long relationship with Reverend Jeremiah Wright and that ends it and Jeremiah Wright is a bad man and racist and how could he?
It's all about Barack Obama how after 20 years of having a close relationship with Pastor Wright appears to have a dual personality - one of which is a dark hidden side with racial confusion and the convenient use of disposable people.
Obama - remember chose Jeremiah Wright and his church. Jeremiah Wright had very little to do with it except to just accept Barack Obama's friendship and now come to find out - hidden agenda.
It is an extreme stretch of anyone's imagination that this Obama – Wright relationship of convenience is all a complete surprise to Obama after 20 years of spiritual mentoring by Wright and Obama naming a book after a close friendship with Jeremiah Wright.
This is all about saving Barack Obama's presidential campaign after the public scrutiny does NOT like what it sees in the Obama racial controversy. This could set back civil rights 40+ years. This is NOT something to be ignored and just explain it away with another grandiose Obama public lecture/speech!!!
This candidate Obama comes highly manufactured and repeatedly groomed after more numerous focus group encounters and fine-tuning than half a dozen candidates combined. Obama may be the most highly tuned candidate, as the result of many, many focus groups – of our time. Obama "SLICK" is the quintessential political consultants dream robo-candidate that is intentionally designed to mislead the public...and he is!!
NO one - I am convinced can have it both ways. The real discussion should now focus on whether Obama should drop out of the race altogether.
This is not Presidental and what the American People deserve or need right now. This Obama racial controversy could set back civil rights 40+ years. This is NOT something to be ignored and just explain it away with a public lecture/speech !!!
Obama had it for twenty years HIS WAY with the racist Wright - now he wants us to completely disregard that - it was different - it didn't happen - we don't understand - we are taking it out of context - we need to move on - it's not important... HS it is very important. It is outrageous!!!!
The American People deserve to know exactly what we are getting into with any Presidential candidate and most rational people I know do NOT like what they see NOW in the Obama - Wright relationship of convenience.
When Michelle Obama wants to move on - that is an indication that they are into campaign damage control and no more and the race for President over-rules personal privacy and ANY relationship of convenience such as Obama- Wright.
Obama is too radical and NOT Presidential - and this comes from a Democrat.

How many of you writing against Obama would have said no to the great opportunities especially after Harvard and offer his services for the poor and the lowly. Not many of you would and you are so critical to someone who wants and has shown to serve others. This is a very rare character Obama has and we should all be proud of such and give support to his message of hope and change. Up to you now!

Only Senator Obama can beat Senator McCain. We have seen what the destructive opposing party did to the Clintons. They dragged them out of the White House by their hair, and they won't have them there again. I have not heard Senator Clinton suggest that she is going to leave her husband behind. Well, then. From past experience we can surmise that should they succeed in riding us of Obama, they will turn their attacks toward the Clintons with a viciousness that has never been seen.
This is exactly why we are discussing the Senator Obama's former pastor ad nauseam presently. It is a distraction by hate mongers meant to frighten or anger you and me. Listen, or turn it off; take a deep breath and support the candidate we trust to bring people together, and to change the fatal course that we are charging down.
Forget the rhetoric of nonsense about the senior pastor gentleman (to which such gentleman has contributed admittedly), because obviously, though he appears to be speaking our language, some just do not get it. His shoes are about 70 or so years old. They have taken him places we have not been. He speaks to some who understand and benefit. Others, including people in his community, have no clue. He has freely chosen to be a disciple of Christ, which by definition is a lover of people, not a hater. Every pastor has his unique expression. This is a distraction people. Let it go.
Obama can bring people of good will together. He has shown us that. He is a person of good will. Likeminded people are those who will save this country, set it on a positive path, energize us, attract support again from other countries and redefine what it means to be vibrant, progressive, Americans. We can save ourselves. "Yes,we can!"
As I type this I hear a news report that the latest New York Times nationwide poll shows that Sen Obama still leads Clinton among Dem Primary voters in their poll.
To tomdavie: Oprah left the church? Does she believe that there is "sin?" If not, perhaps that is why she left. Christians who are "people of the book (Holy Bible)" believe in "sin."
And as for "karma" being true, Tony, "people of the book" refer to such as "reaping what you sow."

The Obama /Wright association is old news. Time to move on. There are more important issues floating out there.
By the way , Hillary did Barak a favour on O'Reilly Fox News interview.
Barak's ratings will go up because of her comments.Thanx Hillary. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. Errol Smythe

Obama is attacking Mr. Wright and denounce him. Does it mean that he denouce his black church and his black commnunity for the white midlle class white in Indiana and North Carolina?
He has used the black vote to get to this level, now he betrayed his master and his based support (90% of black voting for him) for the cause of the white voters?
His Pastor wanted him to gain the nomination and then the presidency in order to get an apology from the US President to the slavery of the Black People.
He betrayed his master because he is now white not black. Is that his new unity politic. For me, this politic is worse than the Bill Clinton scandal that Libermen has quoted "immoral"

There are serious issues out there that need to be discussed and addressed. High profit windfalls of Gas companies while people are struggling to pay off their mortgages and find out that gasoline has gone up again.
Yeah what about all these tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, floods etc and talk about compensation cheque shopuld be in the post stories.
Or what about these big companies on the stock exchange that make billions from poor people that have a dream to get rich quick and get ripped off like how it is said by some that ENRON made money on the backs of broken dreams.
There's climate change, global warming, desertification, pollution, tsunamis, unemployment, poverty in Africa and elsewhere etc etc.
Time to move on. This election soap opera is stuck in the mud and it nis time to take down the props.
Too much time wasted on this Obama and Wright 20 year association. The election is about America and America being the Beacon of Hope (as said by President Ronald Reagan). As you know ,President Abraham Lincoln said " United we stand ,divided we fall". Errol Smythe.

It matter because we need to know if Obama lied to get our vote our not. We need to know how much we can trust him on his view and judgement.
Posted by: JoeSky | May 1, 2008 1:41:50 AM
Can there be timeout on all this ? The election is not about Obama and his associates. Surely there are real substantial issues that need to be addressed like the rising cost of fuels, alternative energy sources, global food crisis, housing crisis, banking crisis, pension crisis, tax rebates, world peace, global warming and climate change, desertification, pollution, ozone layer, agriculture, poverty, hunger, empty food shelves in Africa etc etc etc.
Barak is just living the American dream. What is wrong with that? Why do we like broken dreams more than fulfilled dreams/ Let the dream live on. Hope is a good thing there is nothing wrong with hope. Peace to all and goodwill to all men .TIME FOR CHANGE. A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Errol Smythe.

Funny that all this time Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have been "noticably absent" in Obama's campaign. Obama avoided MLK day-wasn't Sharpton in charge of it? Now after all the bad press with Wright, Sharpton comes out and defends Obama. Somebody please tell me if Obama has been seen with ANY of these guys since he kicked off his campaign. I think it's all part of the plan.
Posted by: RL in Illinois | May 1, 2008 12:50:44 AM
Wait, let me get this straight.... Is Obama a white guy with a black dad, or a Black guy with a white mom? Barack Obama is not the "black guy". Also, Barack obama came to Jeremiah Wright for "spiritual guidance", not political guidance. It is obvious that jeremiah wright has some off the wall views, but it is also obvious that he knows a ton about theology. I go to my financial advisor for advice on finance. I dont necessarily agree with all of his political views. This guilt by association thing is ridiculous.

Senator Obama with his lies, distortions and political pandering has done more to harm the Democratic Party and American citizens than any other politician in the last 100 years. He needs to go back to South Chicago and fulfill the promises he made to those voters in his last two election.
He is not a statesman nor presidential material. He is just another very corrupt politician who will say or do anything to gain the power of the presidency.
For twenty years he knew he belonged to and supported a Black Liberation Theology Church and Rev. Wright let us know the beliefs of the church. Nothing more.

Nah. 9-11 demonstrates that there's no mischief of which over-privileged corporate business travelers aren't capable.
As for pore ole St. Matthew, we'll see your Matthew, and raise you a Revelation 3:16:

Imagine, the US nation is being led towards the abyss by a bungling bush; and the focus is on the HARMLESS RHETORIC of an old Black man?
All because of America's racist obsession!
All any intelligent mind has to ask is, "How really harmful can mere rhetoric of Right be to ANY American?" Who is bruised?
It's not like Mr Right is making threats of harm against the nation or against individual Americans?
911 demonstrates to the world that Americans will lull itself to sleep with non-issues when real threat to the nation arises.

"What example are we setting for the entire world"
You better not be a McCain or Hilliary supporter then.
Hilliary on Iran "WE would obliterate them" and don't forget her husband was impeached and almost destroyed the dignity of the presidency.
McCain- Well what other policies does he have other than being in Iraq? He's another Bush.
Those are your choices America. I'd rather go with Obama.

First of all Rev. Wright isn't running for President, Obama is!
If the American people fall for this right wing plot to destroy Americas' chance of redeeming its worldly apperance, then we deserve another 8years and eventually a full blown recession. Alot of things Rev. Wright said are true about AMERICA that's why so many people are upset. By far America is still one of the most racist places in the world and it's on public display for the world to see us at our true form. What example are we setting to countries that view America as a breakthrough nation.

The democrats are in a mess. The RNC has purchased half-million dollars worth of ads so far against democrats around the county featuring Rev Wright. Rev. Wright could be the biggest disaster the democrats have ever had.

Good for Obama. He is the only candidate running who has any ethics or guts. All Clinton has left to jab him with is a flag pin and a tired old 3 am phone. Meanwhile, US deaths in Iraq are surging again-- the highest number of deaths in 7 months: don't we owe it to our men and women in harms way to talk about real issues? How about our children? Do we not owe it to them to have an honest discussion about the state of our economy and environment?

During Obama's much praised speech the media did not criticize him for not denouncing Rev. Wright. He had a chance to denounce him then and there but no instead he denounced his white grandmother and threw her under the bus for his friend and mentor! Obama knew that Wright was a problem when he disinvited him to his presidential announcement, yet he put him on his campaign as a religious advisor! He and others say they never heard Wright make such controversial statements like the ones that were shown of his sermons. Who is going to beleive that this man did not say anything like that except when Obama was not there, and that all of a sudden he has turned into the man we saw this week. Obama supporters said that he was taken out of context and that he was being potrayed unfairly now they and Obama are forced to face reality and say that this man is the same man we saw on those videos! Rev. Wright gave an interview to Bill Moyers on Friday night where he said essentially the same things he had said in the past. What did Obama say? Nothing! He gave a speech to the NAACP and he said the same thing! What did Obama say? Nothing! He gave the same performance at the National Press Culb on Monday and what did Obama say? Nothing till late Tuesday when they saw his poll numbers crashing! So what Mr. Obama has done hear is what Rev Wright said that he would do and that is denounce him because he is a politician and that is what politicians do to get elected! Is this the way Mr. Obama will deal with threats from our enemies like Iran, they threaten us on Friday and he responds on late Tuesday? No this should not give anyone confidance that Mr. Obama is up to the task of being POTUS. If he can not respond and take on his friends in a timely and forceful manner how could he ever take on the enemies of the U.S.
This whole affair has shown that Obama is not ready to be president of the U.S. and he is not the best canidate to take on McCain this fall! That is why Hillay is rising and Obama is falling,if Hillary gets the nomination then we have a chance if not then we will lose working class voters and the GE!
Rise Hillary Rise!!!

He is my spiritual advisor... he's not my spiritual advisor. I can't disown him... I can disown him. Disowning him is the same as disowning the black community... he isn't the black community.
He is going to pay a terrible but deserved price for going along with the angry black minister and the angry black wife all these years. Even if we take him at his word that it didn't poison him, he let his children be steeped in this environment. Oprah left the same church over disagreements with Wright. Why didn't he?

I'm a democrat and know that neither Hillary or Obama can beat McCain.
And having this distraction of Wright is not helping our party. Obama supported everything Wright said until he realized it was seriously going to hurt his changes at the nomination. We can't trust this man. And his speeches and tone and manner make me sick. He just doesn't appeal to the common man.

Why I point out SDs is... neither candidate can wrap up the nomination without them...
The night of PA, pundits were mocking Obama
Obama can't do thiS...Obama can't do that
Stating there would be a pause in the SD fight
Guess not
Obama needs 288 delegates to wrap up the nomination
Hillary needs 427
This included SDs
and at this rate... Obama gaining twice the amount of superdelegates
Obama will reach 2025

Dear Bishop. I am in total agreement on another debate like we have had. However one with out a moderator would actually be good for the country to see, and for this reason: ONe where the issues will come up and actually put before the public for the first time And give HBO a chnace to give us solutions , so we will finally know where he stands.

Super delegates are free to support who they want but the supers support does not make a candidate will any election, so why keep dancing around with this idea look how many supers Obama has.

In a new poll released by Associated Press, Hillary leads Sen. McCain by 9 points (50-41) while Sens. Obama and McCain are statistically tied (46-44). The poll also shows Hillary faring better than Sen. Obama against McCain among independents (50-39) and has sizeable leads among seniors and Catholic voters. Clinton also pulls 2/3 of voters under 30 versus McCain, which is better than Obama does with that group.

Just using the word (AFRICAN) AMERICAN makes us divide. White people do not say (.....) Americans. Al and Wright and Obama think the black people somehow are slaves now. That they are owed something from the white Americans because of their history. Yes it was wrong, but that's the past, they are not slaves now!!! And one more thing, the white people were not the only ones doing wrong, some of there own were helping round them up for money. See it for what it really is. Evil dressed in what ever color it takes on and spreads like cancer. Satan is prinice of this world and is behind it.

Today's Poll Results:
Nationwide online poll conducted as of 6:00 PM April 29 is showing Clinton leading Obama 57 - 43 %. Results also show that 37% of Clinton supporters have pledged to vote for John McCain if Obama becomes the nominee in contrast to 15% of Obama supporters if Clinton becomes the nominee. The difference will nearly guarantee a McCain victory if Obama becomes the nominee. Survey results were tabulated from more than 148,130 online votes.

What's more important, to have a black or hispanic or asian or white or a woman or a man president or is it not more important to have a president who will fix the mess that this country is in. We need to look beyond the racial divide in this country and pick a president who will get the country back on the right path. I beg you again to do as Dr King asked and not judge a person by the color of their skin whether they're black or white, a man or a woman. I myself am tired of people losing their jobs and homes and being killed in the war. I don't care if the canidate is blue, if I feel that they will fix this country, that person has my vote.

In an effort to deflect public criticism and stop the hemorrhaging, Sen. Obama has concocted a new strategy in dealing with recent comments by Rev. Wright. In a press conference in North Carolina, Obama has denounced the comments as "appalling". However, most pundits believe that there was a secret meeting this past week between Obama and Rev. Wright which allows the illinois senator to publicy denounce his pastor solely for political expediency.

Give me a break! Americans are not stupid! It is obvious that he renounced his pastor in a quid-pro-quo effort to silence the critics.
Clearly, his earlier attempts did not work. So, this is a new strategy for Obama to "pretend" that he is renouncing his pastor. Except that this happens to be a benind-the-scene effort!
Come on Hussein, white-Americans are not stupid!

Betty are you aware of the people who were jailed or killed trying to get the rights for African Americans to vote, trying to register voters? I feel your call for "TIME FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS TO BOYCOTT THE ELECTIONS" is an insult to the men and women, black and white who believed that blacks should have the right to vote. If you would like to sit out the election than that is up to you but you should not ask anyone to give up their rights.

Yes, by all means bring Al Sharpton into it. I thought he was busy shutting down NYC. Perhaps he got stuck in gridlock.
Another problem for Obama is all the quotes from his big speech in Philadelphia lecturing us on how we need to understand the rage behind Wright's comments. It seems ot be a common trait of Obama and his supporters in what was said yesterday totally contradicts what is said today.

Not going to take what anymore Betty?
As for dl, I disagree! If you want to blame anyone, blame Obama and his ex-pastor Rev. Wright. It's looks to me that Rev. Wright is more honest than Obama. Also, it's Obama supporters like Betty that keep race an issue in this campaign.

Why has Hillary NEVER been asked about any of the scandals...because her campaign team jumps on the reporters if they go near it like attack dogs.

Betty here most white people know Hagee is nuts John McCain did not go to his church does even live in the same state and Mccain is stupid for taking his endorsement IMO.

People should not vote for McCain only because Sen Obama or Sen Clinton did not get the nomination. The differences between the two is not great. If you truly like McCain then so be it, vote for him but don't do it because you are angry.

dl..betty..I will not kneel before the alter of Obama. Its just creepy how all of you speak of him. He may be a nice guy but he is not my savor or the person I want as president not yet at least.

Hillary has stood tall and lady like from day one. I know that it is a shame that no one told Obama that when your in the major's they check out everything and at this point there are so many tapes out there that it is not going away How could axelrod be so stupid Thier are many minister's not unlike the media that make a dam good living stiring the pots of dicotented people. He was really to slow on the fix .What a show they put on Wright and Obama so fake thier little play act yesterday and the media think were idots that is why all thier rates are going down we don't want fake media If are media would get real like they use to be this country would heal.

Are you serious, do you really think that there is a need for another debate. Honestly why? Just because your candidate challenged and if he doesn't take it he's chump. They have debated time and time again (21 times). There is no need for another debate. The real reason Hillary wants to debate is this: She knows that Obama has tons of money: and if he spends all his time preparing for a debate, he can't get out and meet the people. It is a very clever attempt on her part but at the same time he's not taking the bait.
As far as race you must only read a few posts, because it is not only Obama supporters that talk about race. There have been so many MORE posts maybe not in this room specifically, about race from Hillary supporters. They call Obama racist, because of his pastor etc.
Anyway there is no need for ANOTHER debate. Why do you need to hear the same thing again and again.

It's funny that you say...Obama supporters are bringing race into this...Hillary's supporters are the ones who axctually organized those press junkets for rev. wirght...
tell me again...
the last thing that Obama has tried to do or his campaign was make this about race...and obama's predominantly younger supporters think that the race foght is stupid... they denounce predominantly the fight on both sides...doesn't mean racism doesn't exist...
but both sides of the argument is the issue they tried to steer away from as to not define him. That was common sense...
this issue keeps trying to be put to bed... it is not Obama's campaign that keeps bringing it up.

you are right.

The democratic party has lost when it has just voted for the "ingrained" candidate who was just a long time member of the party and old school connected dems were able to make sure their old associate or friend was the candidate...
the dems win when they pick the "right" candidate ...the one that did not get the nomination because they have paid their dues in the party.
Obama is not falling on the sword... Obama is lifting up a torch.

It is fun to watch two elitist men put on an act for the serf like people. They think we bought the little act the minister that was on fox last night said Obama has known for three years that he was going to have to put some distance between him and the Rev but they thoght it would come out in the GE they didn't think the republicans would bring it out in the primary if anthing Obama is pissed because he didn't think he would have to deal until he had the nomination it takes him three days to respond because him and all his brains have a script they folllow very closely after all it is a master mind axelrod plan that has been in the making for years. I can just imagine what hell we will go thru if he is elected.

That is not exactly true. More people are willing to jump ship and vote for McCain if Hillary is not the nominee. There are people that will jump ship if Obama isn't. But the truth is that there are many more people that will not vote for Obama if he is the nominee. I honestly believe however that those numbers will change more so from Obama supporter. Hillary supporters are less likely to change their minds though. Primarily because of the base of the people that support her. I think this is absolutely sad, but hey I'm not those people. They are so blind to the fact that they'd rather vote for McCain just to say hey "i told you so" like a child.
Betty
The REV Wright thing is BAD. Especially for a Black man attempting to become President of the United States. What you and many others need to understand is not everybody sees things the way others do. Many people would just rather act as if there's no racial problem in the United States, but this year is absolute proof there is. Blacks are voting for Obama just because and Whites are voting against Obama just because. Don't take that to mean that all are voting against him just because. But if you look at the people that are voting for Hillary, it is the older people, women, and the less educated whites. That doesn't pan out well if Obama gets the nomination. Many of them will not vote for a black man. Obama gets the black vote and the more educated vote. They are more likely to vote for Hillary (if she gets the nom) or not vote at all. They however will not vote for McCain. In my opinion if Hillary wins, she will win the Presidency. If Obama wins we'll have 4 more years of Republicans. Because America still cannot get over the racial wounds.

You think OBama isn't the guy who can talk to all of us? Did you see Iowa...did you see Vermont? Did you see all those white states he won...not just educated elitists...but blue collar and working states.
He speaks for everyone...including African Americans, gays, asian, hispanic, jewish, muslim, christian, etc...
that is what everything he has said and done is about. Unfortunately when a candidate is that good at it... like a great athlete whose left court back hand isn't as good...suddenly everyone whose team he defeated focuses on that one thing and says...he isn't good at the game.
A candidate who overwhelmingly brings hugely mixed crowds and voters and only continuously talks about the need for bridging divides as the major campaign platform... is suddenly going to be called the candidate who wants to divide.
That's political posturing not at it's best...but it's worst.

Tony, before you start accusing me and my generation of not knowing anything about history, you should perhaps take a moment to think through whether or not that is a valid claim.
Although I am pre-med, history is a subject that I love, and for you, as well as many politicians, to state that we simply do not understand the issues or understand history is insulting. Members of the Clinton campaign have made the same conclusions, and it is one of many reasons I could never support them.
They do not respect me or my generation, why should I support them?
Posted by: Ross Hatton | Apr 30, 2008 8:46:26 AM
the media is not biased...
they are afriad of the Clinton's.
If anyone asks a single question ...about any of the scandals...and the American people absolutely DO NOT know the scandals outside of Monica and the word whitewater...
yet... the media has been scared into not asking a single question about any of these scandals...
which Hillary never answered IN the white house as First Lady (she always deferred that it din't involve her) and now somehow she has spun it as ..."i've been vetted"
So I agree the media may be biased dem but not when McCain is the republican nominee...
but they have quite literally avoided all of the scandals that should overwhelmingly have been vetted and asked of the candidate directly.
Why has Hillary NEVER been asked about any of the scandals...because her campaign team jumps on the reporters if they go near it like attack dogs.

Guys we are electing someone to be our President. (President for all the people of USA, not just Black or Whites).
I somehow feel Obma is not that black man who can talk for all of us. I wish he had attended a different church and associated with people who are moderates rather than too liberal and radical.
I am sue with time, lot of Americans will feel like me and hence may find it hard to elect him as the President.

robert,
bho had nothing to loose, or gain, when speaking against the war. his words meant nothing nationally since he was not a us senator and his woeds were moot. he also was not privy to the intell the senators had, and which we now know was flawed.
bho receives much of his money from bundling. he also has a fundraiser , who is also on his website listed as a friend of michelles, named Kalem El-hady. El-Hady was the head of the islamic charity kindhearts which was closed by the feds in 2006 for funnelling money to hamas and al-qaeda. bho continues to show poor judgement, stereotypes, lacks patriatism, character, and is unfit to represent this country.

Obama did what any politician would have done, he took the easy way out by denoucing his former pastor, I don't think he should get any special credit or attention for it. He knew who Rev Wright was and he knew how it would effect his campaign.
Secondly, I'm so tired of people saying that a vote for Obama or Obama becoming president is a very special & historic time for this country without adding that a vote for Sen Clinton would have the same effect. Polls have shown that more people are open to having a black President than a woman President so why not say the same for Sen Clinton. Dr. King preached that we should not judge a person by the color of their skin but by the content of their character but yet there are so many people who are only voting for Obama because of the color of his skin. This is an extremely sensitive time for this country both economical and the wars that we are in. This is not a job for who we like but who we think will fix the mess we are in. The last time this country voted for the person they most wanted to share a beer with got us into the trouble we're in now, how many times are we going to make the same mistake.

So you think it is would have been mopre courageous for Obama to say something privately years ago to Rev. Wright...and act which would have probably resulted in no consequence for either...and forced obama to leave the congregation that was helping Chicago on such a large level...
and that would be more courageous than in the middle of a Presidential Campaign go up to a microphone and denounce a man that is sooo connected with much of his base that it could officially end his run for President?
The problem is... you say Hillary is "courageous" and "she had such a tough life"... and that "He and not she is the elitist"(the ivy league pearl wearing millionaire... who has not driven herself in 30 years and has no comprehension that people making under 50k a year have a tough time choosing between rent and healthcare...never mind how to make that work with a stipend and a "tax break"...I don't think she realizes that most people don't even have accountants...the horror of it)...
The problem is you don't recognize that she has spun something that is not "courageous" as "courageous" ...that her tough life... to most Americans is offensive to call tough... and that elitist has completely ...no meaning after this election.
and Hillary supporters buy into all this spin.
Stop the American people want to get off.

I'm a supporter of Obama, I however do not agree that the media is out to get Obama, or Clinton, or McCain. The media may have a bias along party lines but not one Dem over the other. The media has been doing its job and thats to report potentially damaging or potentially assissting information. That is what it (the media) as done. Just because one story might be against Obama doesn't mean that they all are. Hillary has gotten her moments in the negative stories. It is not the medias fault that these candidates have baggage. It is the medias job to put it out ther no matter how damaging it is. I'm so tired of people saying the media is out to get blah blah blah. Just shut up.
