Stormy Weather
April 10, 2008 10:34 AM
An argument pushed by the campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, is that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has not been fully vetted.
As Clinton-backing Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell told us last week "she's been really well vetted, all the bad stuff is by and large out there, and there are no surprises. With Sen. Obama I think the right now he may run, a little stronger in some areas -- not the key states -- but in some areas against Sen McCain, but understand that he hasn't been vetted." Rendell said there was 10% about Clinton that "we don't know yet" and "about 50% about Barack Obama that we don't know yet."
Which brings us to William Ayres.
Ayres is Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and founder of both the Small Schools Workshop and the Center for Youth and Society.
He also spent the 1970s as a fugitive from justice, as a member of the Weather Underground, after the domestic terrorist group, preparing to attack an Army base, accidentally exploded a Greenwich Village townhouse killing three of their own members. Ayres later married feather Weather Underground member Bernardine Dohrn, then on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List.
''I don't regret setting bombs,'' Ayres told the New York Times in 2001 upon publication of his memoir about that era, "Fugitive Days." ''I feel we didn't do enough.''
As celebrated members of the Chicago liberal world, Ayres and Obama have some connections.
They served on a board together when Obama was a state senator. Ayres donated $200 to Obama's campaign in 2001. They sat on a panel together in 2002 called "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis." Obama went to Ayres and Dohrn's home in 1995 to be introduced to some of the more influential liberals in the area by the state senator he was preparing to succeed, Alice Palmer.
(Palmer, who changed her mind about not running for reelection for her state senate seat after being defeated in a US House race, was later unable to get on the ballot because Obama challenged her petitions to do so, in some hardball Chicago-style politics, a whole other interesting story.)
"Bill Ayers lives in his neighborhood. Their kids attend the same school," Obama senior strategist David Axelrod told the Politico. "They're certainly friendly, they know each other, as anyone whose kids go to school together." (Ayres' kids are actually much older than Obama's but Dohrn is still active at the school.)
"We can relitiigate again and again these 40-year-old battles," Axelrod said. "He thinks what was done then was wrong and outrageous, and he believes that you can’t defend the indefensible – but he’s looking forward, he’s not looking back."
"Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence," Obama spokesman Bill Burton told the New York Sun when asked about the connection. "But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost 40 years ago is ridiculous."
Is that enough for you? Perhaps it is. Perhaps you think this is all a silly political smear.
But should Obama get the nomination, what will moderate and swing voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Missouri think of it all? Will they think Obama is able to transcend partisan divisions if he's been supported by Ayres?
The proverbial Republican attack machine is chugging along on this -- see THIS CLIP from last night's "Hannity & Colmes" on Fox News, featuring Karl Rove making much hay out of this connection, however tenuous, and Ayres speaking at the University of North Dakota saying he doesn't regret anything he did against the government.
There is a tendency in the Obama campaign to not take these types of stories seriously. That is a "perfect world" approach to politics. In a perfect world, some might argue, we would be debating policy in Iraq, the economy and health care. We wouldn't have discussions about whether Al Gore claimed he invented the internet, or George W. Bush got a DUI in the 1970s, we wouldn't talk about Swift Boat Vet for truth claims that contradict official Naval records.
But that's not the world we live in. Yes, the mainstream media is complicit in that, but there are other forces at play. Paid TV ads, the internet, cable news, talk radio -- sources of information, and misinformation that have an impact on the electorate, necessitating that the mainstream media cover stories having an influence on the election even if they did not originate in the mainstream media. We of course are obligated to fact check them and deal with them responsibly and the mainstream media does not always rise to the challenge.
But campaigns have to know how to deal with such stories as well.
Former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC, has not endorsed Obama precisely because he worries Obama is not tough enough to deal with attacks such as these, such as the fact that this Ayres story is still out there, with very little pushback from Obama -- or even, frankly, any acknowledgment as to why some voters might not like the idea of Obama being friendly with a man such as Ayres.
This Stevenson-esque (Adlai, not McLean) regard for fighting these stories is likely a reason we haven’t seen a stampede of superdelegates over to Obama to end this never-ending primary season.
What do you think?

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Stormy Weather:
I am from Chicago, and to all of you fools out there, Bill Ayers has done wonders with his programs on School Reform. In Fact, he has worked with that noted radical Mayor Daley. The Foundation in question, The Woods, works with kids and Health Care. I know that Health Care for kids, The CHIPS Program, is something you right-wingers can't get behind, let the little buggers die, but Ayers is a friendly open man who has more than made up for any past wrongs. In fact, I find it disgusting that you people never mention the horror of the Vietnam War. Ayers is a much finer person than any of you guys.

I am very angry by the way Obama talked about the people in the midwest its very disturbing to me! First of all, to clump small town people or any group of people together shows that he has no knowledge about us. For Obama to say that the people in small midwest towns are bitter shows his bias against us!
I am very proud to "cling to my religion" and he should be honest enough to tell us the truth about his church and his religion... He wants to be president of the USA and the church he regularly attends is dedicated to Africa... no whites allowed. And for him to talk against people who want to secure our country against illegal immigration is very disturbing to me, because securing our borders is not a bad thing! For him to be against people who have anti-trade sentiment is very telling, because he claims to want to help build our business up and for us not to want to see more trade deals that would cost more US jobs to go over seas is not a bad thing either! His speech clearly shows his racist bias towards midwesterners and those who are not as liberal as he is! He is talking as if he looks down on us and that is unforgiveable for a man who wants to be our president!

What he really meant to say was, "just say no to bombs". It was all just youthful indiscretion.

We all need to realize that NONE of the candidates are perfect. But I'm taking my chances with the crazy pastor. McCain's about to be SWIFTBOATED by Vietnam Vets and Hillary, well there's enough fodder on her to last for 8 years. John McCain is only running because he wants war. He can't even remember who we're fighting most of the time. Who wants a President like that? McCain's an inch deep and a mile wide. He knows nothing about anything but war. Vietnam Vets won't support him. They'll shred him to bits! He blocked legislation find find more POWs and MIA in the 1990s. It'll come back to bite him major!

As the organizer behind Dr. Ayers's recent visit to North Dakota let me say that the latest version of the smear campaign using video footage taken by the young republican group in the audience is just as dishonest as the supposed quote that Ayers has no regrets of the past "taken" from the NYT. IN FACT -- Ayers discussed that misquote that night in some detail and explained what he really said, which was not that he had no regrets. Moreover, his message (which he iterated at UND as well) was that he was asked "Do you have any regrets?" and his position was "I'm 63 years old -- I have LOT'S of regrets. You don't get to be my age without many regrets." He then went on to say that while his political stance has become more nuanced than in his youth, one has to understand what he did then in its historical context -- which was that some 2000 young men were dying each week in the name of a war founded on a Big Lie. All this of course was edited out of the Fox News/Karl Rove interview. It's also missing from this ABC news piece as well as almost every piece of coverage that I've seen on this issue. Lastly, it should be pointed out that Ayers did not endorse Obama at UND or any other candidate. He does admit that they live essentially on the same block, but he points out that he lives on the same block (in the other direction) as Louis Farrakhan too. This doesn't make them close or neighborly.

As an Obama supporter, I think this is all fair game. No one that walks this Earth is perfect. Franky, I am getting tired of all this "connected to", "linked to", "relationship with" or "rode the same train with" lunacy. Get me some hard evidence or drop it, I say. Ever hear of the theory that everybody in the world is connected to someone else by no more than 6 people? Google it. The theory is sound. Me, I happen to know someone who knows someone that went to school with Hillary Clinton. That's 3 people. Lets not forget that Bill Clinton, as President gave a Pardon to these people.
As to the question of electability, John McCain has had some questionable rrelationships himself. Ross Perot actually has some wild theories about McCain's heroism. Clinton also has some things she might have to answer for, like that mysterious murder that her and Maggie Williams, her new campaign manager, may have had something to do with while Billy Boy was President.
I personally think all of this stuff is hhogwash and shouldn't even be news. Obama is a liberal. We all know that. So is Clinton. Let's get pass these types of smears.

Do you think this will be mentioned elsewhere as well -- can we NOW have some vetting please?
If every other news station had bothered to do its job a couple of months ago and reported any of this and the Rev. Wright 20-year relationship, this primary would be over by now and Hillary Clinton would be our nominee.
Think to yourselves, who benefits from sitting on this all this time? The media narrative that was sold to the voter with a big shovel was that Sen. Obama would be the tougher candidate in the fall -- oh really? Then why would the corporate owned media being beating the drum so loudly for Hillary to get out and keep hitting her with everything they've got and fawning over him for no good reason?
Gee, could the real reason be that they knowe SHE is more formidable so they play divide and conquer to get her out first -- knowing the repubs. have all this stuff waiting in a vault -- ready to go when they need it.
Senator Obama should have been more prudent in all his assocations (so much for the sterling judgment he claims to have) if he planned run for president. He is not running for president of far left-wing extremist America -- he is running to be President of all America -- most of whom live more in the center and have big problems with his associations with the divisive Rev. Wright, the crook Antonin Rezko and Ayers.
Are there any more? Can we please let America know now -- before PA or any other states vote so we can save this situation.

FOX is starting some in depth coverage on William Ayers. Including some interesing video of recent speeches by Ayers. Barack Obama and William Ayers issue needs to be totally vetted. FOX is the only place I've seen coverage of it. Ayers was a danagerous dude.

The Rev. Wright and The Black Liberation Theology story has not been explained enough. At the same time period as The Weathermen group, the Black Panther movement was on, Black Muslims were increasing in numbers and many were chanting Black Power. An interview on National Public Radio last week by Terry Gross cleared many things up for me. Rev. James Cones was interviewed and explained why he wrote his books, which started The Black Liberation Theology movement. BLT was the Christian answer to the Black Muslim movement, with some of the same anger and hatred. BLT people were very impatient with the non-violent approach
of Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King was very deep into Southern Baptist teachings and firmly believed that was the way to approach the problems.
I'll not take up anymore space but for one last thing. I think Obama didn't go to the ceremonies for Dr. King was because of his BLT teachings. And remember he's still a member of that church with it's new BLT Rev.

The Clinton campaign will not bring this up. You see, this opens up a BIG OL can of worms for the Clintons. Bill Clinton PARDONED several Weathermen during his presidency. Again, the Clintons knew ALL of these OBAMA supporters before Obama. We've all seen photos of the Clintons with Rezko, Rev. Wright, and now William Bill Ayers.
And by the way, McCain isn't as clean as you think. Just wait until about July. I can't wait.....

"His entire adult life is filled with nefarious characters"
LOL! You actually seem to think he only knows and met with the 4 or 5 shady people you were able to find? Any idea how many people a man like Obama is working with and talking to on a daily basis? Don't you care about Obama's Presidency of the Harvard Law Review for instance - and why not? Do you know that it is the world's most presitigious law review? (of course you don't). Do you care about the huge article Newsweek is running now about Obama's very remarkable mother? It's full of details on him as well, so go check it out!
You folks are a sad bunch of people who are allergic to the brilliance and greatness in a black man running for the Presidency.

The GOP will crush Obama under the weight of his associations. His entire adult life is filled with nefarious characters. Hillary cannot bring this up, but the reason she has vowed to stay in the race until the convention is so that the Democratic party has a viable candidate should all of this come out before Obama is the nominee. God Bless Hillary for staying in the race! There is still hope.

This is the Wright story, redux. Only this time, he's not going to be able to wash it all away with a speech.
Posted by: Sue | Apr 10, 2008 7:54:13 PM
This is a huge story - and the commercials of the Weather bombings, etc. can be imagined already.
Typical Obama arrogance to assume that real voters are immune to these kinds of associations and the doubts they raise.
Obama's been living in the primary bubble for too long, with the hands-off media.

Michi, they got the story from the law records - you see - unlike Obamatologists, Tom Cruise Fantasists, and generally clueless cultists, facts have a sickening way of always being able to be found.
And arrogance has a way of making you forget that the truth IS OUT THERE.

Ayers and Dohrn strike me as trust fund babies who are so removed from regular life that they don't get how offensive they are - or care what damage they did to anyone else's lives.
But I disagree with Rendell on his endless statements that the Clintons have been vetted - and just the last week is a good example. Did we know that the Clintons took almost a million from a government which stands aside while labor leaders are murdered? No. Did we know that Clinton has dealings with Dubai? No. Or about that deal in the Cayman Islands? Did we know that he was responsible for some pretty shoddy real estate deadling in PA? No. Involving the CATHOLIC church for pity's sake? If the right wing looneys start looking at appointments in the Clinton administration - and I'm talking about high level appointments, not people you meet at the neighborhood park - there are going to be some very big surprises. Rendell loves to say that we only know half of it. My guess is that Rendell knows about half of it - about Bill Clinton.

Thank you for reporting this - I am sure this is something that MSNBC will not even come close to covering. I am sick of them and even called my cable company to try to have it removed from my cable channels.
As soon as the media plays some old footage of the bombings of the Weathermen this will have legs.
Maybe all those guys who were wounded and served in Vietnam might have something to say about Obama's visit to Ayers house to get his "blessing" to go into politics.
I have never voted republican in my life. My whole family will vote McCain if Obama is the nominee. My father (a Navy Seal) my brother (a Marine in Vietnam) and my entire family are outraged that Obama can associate with not only Ayers, Wright but the PLO.
The media is NOT covering Obama fairly. Chris Matthews wishes it was Obama going up his leg and not just the feeling he gets when he hears him speak. MSNBC with Mika (just a mouthpiece for her father and brother who work for Obama's campaign) , Tim Russert, Chris Matthews and yes, so sorry to say, Keith all need to stop drinking the Kool-aid and report the news with the obvious love fest for Obama going on.
People say the democrats will come together and vote Obama if he is the nominee. I am here to tell you that will not happen.

Do your homework before you say this story is not important or relevant -
The Weather Underground was founded by Ayers - They killed 3 police officers during a botched bank robbery - trying to get money to fund their war against America - William Ayers own girlfriend was killed by a bomb meant to blow up an Army recruiting station. Obama knew all of this when he began the relationship - Even after 9/11 when Ayers boasted in his book about his exploits and desire to have done more - Obama remained close to him and his wife Bernadette Doyle, who was on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. The participated in numerous speaking engagements together as well as serving on the Woods board together.
Thsi is not a case of guilt by association - this is a case of arrogance and ignorance - A man aspiring to the Presidency does not maintain a close personal and professional relationship with an unrepentant domestic terrorist. My God, what is wrong with you people supporting Obama - get your heads straight.

Someone aspiring to the Presidency of the United States does not nurture an ongoing personal and professional relationship with a known and unrepentant domestic terrorist. Let alone sit in that church listening to that garbage for 20 years. He's unfit to command and will bring ruin to our party in November.
Posted by: oldspice | Apr 10, 2008 4:38:12 PM
Folks, you can all write what you want, but the fact has already been proven that a story like this simply is never going be headline news, as Hillary's lies and Penn's conflicting interests are. There's no beef here, only rather mean insinuations.
The only beef in the GOP's dirty case against Obama, as different from the actual debate on the real issues, is in the Wright tapes. Rezko is nothing, no Obama wrongdoing though bad judgment, but nothing compared to McCain's CV with the Keating Five scandal and many other obscure dealings with lobbyists that will run his Straight Talk Express in to the ditch.
Is Wright dangerous for Obama? I think it become on his many strenghts; the great PA speech that impressed millons of Americans so much has been a forebode of that. Wright is already part of Obama's case for change; not into Wright's direction, on the contrary, away from it to the perfection of our union.
Only a man who fully knows the divisive elements in American (sub)culture can take that road of uniting the country. McCain will have nothing to offer, except for some old patriotic clichés, to compete with a politician who will inspire America to be REALLY proud again of its Constitution, its Bill of Civil Rights, its melting pot of races and religions, and its moral example of liberty and equality in the world. That pride, Obama will show us, is something we gotta earn, day by day, by living and acting up to the high standards of what our Constitution is all about.
Posted by: gregory | Apr 10, 2008 4:31:35 PM
By any objective measure there's nothing serious about this story.
Obama was a child when the Weathermen were active. Decades later when Ayers had become a local activist Obama ended up at an activist meet and greet at his home. So what? Aspiring politicians do lots of meet and greets -- often with local activists. They don't imply any actual connection. Ayers's children went to the same school Obama's children attend and Ayers evidently remains active in that school. Big deal. So someone assembled a speaking panel and put both Obama and Ayers on it. So what? Obama and Ayers, both local activists in their own way, end up serving on a board for a local organization. Whatever. Ayers once gave Obama a $200 dollar campaign contribution. A local activist donating (at a quite modest level) to a local politician -- truly shocking.
The point is this: each of these instances amounts to a big fat zero. Some people want to add all those big fat zeros together thinking they'll add up to something substantial. But the reality is you can add a billion zeros together and at the end of the day you've still got a zero.

This culled from the Chicago Tribune:
"A close examination of Obama's first campaign clouds the image he has cultivated throughout his political career: The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it.
One of the candidates he eliminated, long-shot contender Gha-is Askia, now says that Obama's petition challenges belied his image as a champion of the little guy and crusader for voter rights.
"Why say you're for a new tomorrow, then do old-style Chicago politics to remove legitimate candidates?" Askia said. "He talks about honor and democracy, but what honor is there in getting rid of every other candidate so you can run scot-free? Why not let the people decide?"
In a recent interview, Obama granted that "there's a legitimate argument to be made that you shouldn't create barriers to people getting on the ballot."
But the unsparing legal tactics were justified, he said, by obvious flaws in his opponents' signature sheets. "To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up," Obama recalled.'
He stole that election!
Don't let him steal this one!
GIVE 'EM HELL, HILLARY!

vanessa, no one has to remind anyone about the Clintons running out of toilet paper in the '90s while you are a tap tap tapping on your keyboard,
BUT SOMEONE should remind everyone about the prosperity and hope the Clintons kindled during the wonderful years of their tenure.
Stick with Obama. Oh you can't!
He's that Teflon Man..... who hides his wife and his pastor from the press to protect his image.....

Whatever - A man with a family like you does indeed have a whole heck of worries I do not. Even though we are on opposite sides here I do feel for the family man and their sons and daughters. Perhaps the world was always this way and only now with the 24 hour news cycle and the internet we are thrust into the madness inside our homes. Perhaps the crusader world may have seemed like ours. I sometimes thing we need to study the crusades in order to understand where we are right now. And even how they talked with each other. Perhaps there is something to that, who knows? Because we are right now where they were back then.

Dogsoldier- We ARE humans- working a job to pay the bills and not sucking off of society. I am so frightened by the inevitable war that we are being prepped for with the middle east right now- my boys are young but not young enough that one day they may be called upon to defend a war we have no place in and never have. I saw an old video of Cheney from '94 I think talking about how going to war with Iraq is a "quagmire" that we would never be able to win.. it made me sick inside. He knew..this whole time he knew and chose to do the wrong thing -for money. And now? Infighting between candidates and parties that may tighten the noose around America's neck for decades to come. Sends shivers down my spine, I mean can you feel it? From Canada to China to Iran tension building up and all eyes on us. And here we sit arguing about who's friends with who and who may have been un-PC today.

To Kevin: In order to discuss the issues, Obama would have to have a position on the issues. Obama's position on the issues is to wait to see Hillary's position on an issue, and then copy it, and pretend that it is his idea he is putting forward. Obama says in the debates frequently, that "we are basically the same on the issues, so people are really voting for the candidate that can bring about the best change in Washington" or something to that effect. So Kevin, it is in our best interests to look at Obama the man, to look at his wife Michelle, to look at the men and women he considers "friends and associates" and to look at the radical, racist, anti-semitic, anti-white beliefs that Obama has been following for at least 20 years. Now we are learning of a visit to Pakistan, drug and alcohol use, and we have to say, this man can't deal with his own life, the internal conflicts, the identity crisis, let alone deal with the issues of the entire country. The powers that be that made him this puppet candidate, forgot to look in his closet good and hard. We, the people, will for the sake of our children.

whatever - From some remarks people like us are not human. I can handle whatever comes my way. My fear, if and when we pull out of Iraq, that is unless McCain wins, Iran will get their nukes. The fundamentalists will take over in Iraq. Which in turn can set off a whole new cascade in other middle east states. Oil will shoot through the roof. And if Iran were to threaten Israel with nukes, with Israel sitting on 300+ according to best estimates then we could be the first human beings who witness a nuke war the likes none of us can imagine. Dear God I hope not. If we pull our troops the best we can then do is sit back and watch from the sidelines. That is waiting for the new president whether we like it or not.

kevin, one more time, first as a young man in his book he talks about uncle frank[frank davis comunist party usa]second he talks in his book about following his fathers path,sr obama adocated for cinfiscation of private property in kenya and critizied kenyatta for not following comunist doctrine, thats why he lost his government job, third while in collage in his own words sought out marxist professors, fourth souht out a black liberation church and stayed a memeber for 20 years listening to antiamericn claptap, fifth when first running for public office was introduced topeople of his state senate district at wiliam ayers home[wheather underground]and then continued to associate with him over time in various functions including the woods fund where theywere both on the board ,sixth long term asociation with rezko who had long time dealings with several very shady middle east players, seventh michaels statement about this being the first time she was proud of her country[what because a closet marxist is fooling the american public.thease are more than enough reason not to let him anywhere near the oval office under no circumstances.GO HILLARY 08 OR IF NOT 2012!

Kevin- people tend to go to another blog when people start making sense and agreeing- don't take it personally it is hard for people to fight the good fight nowadays..it is easier to just tear people apart then concentrate on what a failure our government is. Have faith though- the numbers would not be where they are at if everyone felt the way they do on these blogs :)

Never feel SORRY for the Obamas'!!!
40 Million in the bank just from March and 55 Million from February....
They are high on the hog,
All this chatter actually benefits them....keeps their name on the news...free publicity, and they get to keep some of the Millions.
Besides they don't really care what the pundits say--- as long as it doesn't affect the polls....... good example is the Rev Wright story.... some people actually like Obama more since that broke cause it gave Obama an excuse to give a "GREAT RACE SPEECH".....in front of like 100 U.S. flags...plus all the networks played it--- and Obama didn't have to pay a cent for all that coverage.....
Plus it hindered the rumors of him being a Muslim.....instead we find out he supports the theology of James Cone, the father of the Black Liberation sermons.....
All I can say is.....
Thank God I have a Vote.
Thank God we have freedom speech and Thank God for the Internet cause it sure is making this Election the most interesting yet!

As a Whiteman in this great country, it saddens me that people cannot discuss the issues. Sean Hannity and people like him intentionally ignore the serious issues that separate Republicans from Democrats, and instead choose to demonize a man and tear him down. Demonize his wife and tear her down. They do not want to discuss the issues because they know they will lose that battle. They claim to be Conservatives and claim their ideology is superior, but they will rahter discuss anything but that ideology. Sean Hannity has made his entire show for the last two months an Obama bashing festival. In this great country, in this day and age, such public lynching occurs to a man that has committed no crime. A man that has always strived to do public good at every turn. In this day and age. In this great country. What a shame. I adre you peopel to discuss the issues. Discuss the bloody issues. The world is watching America. We say we are the greatest nation on earth. This is our time to prove that we can treat a minority striving for the highest office in the land, fairly. History will remember this day. If Obama loses, let him lose on the issues. Let him lose on the issues for heavensakes.

It doesn't seem to me that Kevin supports that sort of hate either- let's be fair to him and to other supporters of both candidates that want to see the vileness stop from both sides. I think it is that whole guilt by association thing again :)

Kevin
You have apparently ignored the Obama follows hate directed at Clinton. Like different rules for for your guy, huh?
Posted by: S | Apr 10, 2008 2:51:46 PM
KEVIN
I guess nothing at all.
Guess we are all talking about nothing that will harm Obama in anyways....the polls show he is up, he has crowd swooning and fainting....money up the gazoo ( certainly enough to buy the election ) all this I guess will just disappear and we will suddenly all see the light as the Obama Camp wants us to,
Yes-- I am talking nothing.
But I have one vote, and I am so happy to have this one vote in THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.
Just one voter here talking nothing.

I feel sorry for the Obama family. I know there is no way i can stand for this sort of abuse. Now i see clearly why blacks are still in the gutter in this country. All this Obama criticism isn't rooted in any type of logic. It's all hate. That's the only explanation for this anger and vitriol.

Dogsoldier-
So what is the answer then? Perpetual occupancy of Iraq? I know you don't feel that way.. I do however find it funny that you work for Big Oil as I myself work for Big Insurance lol- Let me tell you what candidate they want us to support- but I doubt I even need to. Everyday I see people ordered to deny healthcare to people for government programs..every single day. It breaks my heart but I have to do it- otherwise MY family has no coverage- To me it sure makes this arguement within the Democrats seem ridiculous.

Mariann Pepitone - Wright. Hillary is a leader. Today the world is following her suggestion. That's leadership.

Even if we believe your story, what's wrong with giving money to a church that ahs a very broad, very generous community outreach program?
Posted by: Kevin | Apr 10, 2008 2:43:40 PM
whatever - I work in the oil business for big oil. Currently we get the loin's share of oil from Canada 2586 thousand of barrels per day followed by Saudi Arabia coming in at a distant second at 1503 thousands of barrels per day. There are other smaller amounts such as Venezuela @ 1290 bpd. The energy crunch will get worse. We leave Iraq and if you think you're paying a lot at the pump now then I have bad news for you. BTW, we only get 543 barrels per day from Iraq. Furthermore, if Iran gets the nuke they've been working on where oil prices climb is beyond imagination right now. That my friend is what is waiting for the new president on day one. A middle east in flames when we pull out. Fill your gas tank then.

Kevin: Years ago people judged you by the company you kept. Obama kept company with anti-american's and that's why some people will still judge him by that. Ayres and Ayers are not the people he should have been associating with, he knew exactly what and who they were. But being a boozer and drugger himself while in college I am suprised he graduated unless they pushed him thru to get rid of him. He is not as bright as people think he is. He is a make believe. Copies everything in sight. Adds other presidents words to his speeches. All Obama is looking for is to make history first the presidency is second. Hopefully he never makes it.

S- You are missing the point! Shouldn't we be asking? Shouldn't we want to know what the fine print says? I'm sorry when someone says something like that( that is unbiased and "doesn't have a dog in the race" I sit up and pay attention unless we make it a big deal it will be too late. Mock me if you want to but I think it is important to know.

dogsoldier: The Obama camp is just upset because Hillary got the jump ahead of them regarding the boycotting. Now Obama wants to join Hillary. Obama's camp is nothing but a bumch of punks that think they own the world. And they are the no nothing kind but think they do. They need to get a grip on life and grow up.

Wow!

S- the proof is listed on his Website under his issues and policies, not to mention an interview where Elizabeth Edwards basically begs the people to demand more answers..she did the ground work for us...now it is up to us to start asking for the truth about John McCain

Dogsoldier- It is starting to seriously frighten me that people may vote for the other party out of spite..or not vote at all. It is hard to come on these and feel like your candidate is being attacked , when you truly believe in something it feels like a personal attack..I feel it sometimes too- but there has to be a way to make it work ( see there is my Obama dreamer like self I am sure you are thinking). I think the candidates need to address it ..TOGETHER.
McCain's plan for oil costs to go down is to ask us to sacrifice and go without- yep that's a plan

We live in a fair country and most people have decided to treat Obama fairly. But folks like you just hate the man and regardless of how much good he does, you don't care, you will nitpick throught he facts trying to dig up dirt. You give the man no credit for anything good. Your bias and anger has blinded you. It has rendered everything you say about the man non-credible. I mean it's funny. Everyday i come in here defending Obama while you bash him. I have never heard you try to uplift your own candidate. In fact, i am not even sure who your candidate is. It seems as if you live to just insult this man and tear him down. Reasonable people see right through your BS. Your negativity permeates through your writing like the stench of dung and chokes the crap out of reasonable folks like me. It's putrid. But thank God, you are a minority. That's why Obama still leads in the polls. Obama does nothing for me. He doesn't pay my bills or feed my kid. But i watch both candidates with an open mind and have made my decision. I still like Clinton. If she wins, i will support her without reservation.

"Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are"
This saying speaks to the kind of company Obama keeps >> Wright, Michelle, Ayres, Rezko, etc.
Posted by: Haha | Apr 10, 2008 2:19:47 PM
Michelle Obama said that for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country. That statement in and of itself although stupid at first did not mean that much to me, then came the Rev. Wright and his Goddamn america sermons, and the fact the America was to blame from everything from aids to 9/11. Then you add in Ayers and the weather underground, church bullitens with op eds by Hammas, links of Rezko to an Iraqi businessman in Panama and you suddenly start connecting the dots. You finally see why Michelle was not proud of her country, just look who they were associating themselves with and the picture starts to come into focus! If you knew that you were going to run for president why would you continue such associations, knowing what conclusions that others may draw? I feel that even though Obama may not endorse all the things Wright and Ayers stand for or say he must feel some sort of kinship and share some of their liberal ideology otherwise he would not associate himself with them for 20+ yrs. Obama I feel is a left wing idealouge who has at his core beleif ameica is to blame for most of the worlds problems, and that our government is basically corrupt and evil. It is because of these ties to radical thinkers that will allow the republicans to connect the dots in such a way as to define him as someone who is so outside the mainstream that america can not trust him! For all of his supporters to think that just because the MSM is not talking about these connections and who would ever beleive such stories should ask John Kerry, who said the same thing!

whatever - Yesterday a Canadian blogger who joins ABC blogging sites from time to time said he noticed that both the Obama and Hillary sides were growing further apart. I noticed that myself. He's right. The dye is cast. There is no going back now.
Posted by: Dogsoldier | Apr 10, 2008 2:17:24 PM
I read previously that Obama had ties to Ayres, and underhanded underground crook in his day. And he still has ties to Ayers and Ayres. I don't know of any candidate that ran for office of the presidency had a past like Obama. He hides the fact that he is racial and uses the white people for his own advantage. Going for 20 years to a racist church with a racist pastor tells me he is not fit to be our president. I am glad that Hillary is leading in PA 49% - 41% and just picked up three new superdelegates. Things are starting to look up for a change and maybe he won't be so arrogant when that happens.

OOH I have another one from Elizabeth Edwards too-
McCain's Healthplan will only issue a $5,000 tax credit per person to pay for medical bills- the healthplans that we buy through our work are gone..goooone if we elect him ... 5,000 bucks folks - Hope you don't get sick!

Obama has been vetted. If he wasn't vetted, we wouldn't be hearing all this stupid things about who he knows and who's hand he shook, or who's church he attended or whatever. But they just don't have the punch Hillary's problem have because we do not crucify people in this country based on guilt by association. Regarding Bosnia, it was Hillary herself that lied, not someone associated with her. When a man commits a terrible crime, do we go and arrest his mother and father and lock them in jail? No. Some people like you care about issues like these. But i can assure you that not enough people care for it to have an impact. People like you are in the minority because, unlike most Americans, you are LOOKING for a reason to hate Obama. I don't care if someone is the Pope or Saint Peter, if you want to hate them, you will find good reasons to hate them. But look at the polls. The fact remains that not one single person has managed to show that Obama shares these views. Everything the man has said and done his entire life shows that he doesn't. But people like you want us to discount everything the man has said and done, and instead crucify him by association. That is incredibly flawed logic.

Yesterday - Yesterday the Obama groupies were screaming because Clinton made the call to ask world leaders to boycott the Olympic opening ceremonies because Clinton acted without thinking. Guess what, Obama groupies, today Obama joined Clinton and McCain calling for leaders to boycott the Olympic opening ceremonies. Hillary just got to lead the "boy" around like a child.

WCM and Dogsoldier-The issue at hand should be that both of them ( whether it is them or their family ) have ties to undesireable people... there will always be stories about this kind of garbage- Hopefully you can tell I am a rational person and that I check the facts on the candidates- I voted for Obama I respect him..I will vote for Hillary if that is my choice.. it just boggles my mind that any rational human being can think that this constant bickering between the campaigns can do any body (but McCain) any good! We should end our posts with things like this. To me this is the real enemy ( nice old man or not)

the problem is even though i support hilary [my wife and i have given since dec $1500 ,i will not support ANYONE who has had consistant marxist associations for most of his life! i am more than content to hold my nose and vote for mcain and then start to work towards 2012 and hillary running against him after the far left has discredited themselves.you just do not take a chance withsomeone who might harbor antiamerican of liberationist thinking period.
