Super-D Update

April 01, 2008 4:33 PM

Hillary Clinton consigliere Harold Ickes says that of course Rev. Wright is coming up in his conversations with Superdelegates.

In an interview with Talking Points Memo Ickes said, "Super delegates have to take into account the strengths and weakness of both candidates and decide who would make the strongest candidate against what will undoubtedly be ferocious Republican attacks. I've had super delegates tell me that the Wright issue is a real issue for them….

"Nobody thinks that Barack Obama harbors those thoughts. But that's not the issue. The issue is what Republicans [will do with them]...I think they're going to give him a very tough time."

**

Enigmatic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., says he digs the call to have super-Ds make their intentions publicly known by July 1.

Speaking to reporters, Reid said -- as Roll Call reports -- "I like that — July 1 or before."

And what would he do to encourage the plan, Reid said, “I just did it.”

**

Meanwhile, everybody's favorite doctor, Howard Dean, told USA Today that he does NOT dig the idea of a superdelegate convention.

"We can't have a convention of super delegates because it would look like 330 delegates are overriding the wishes of 30 million voters," Dean said of a plan floated by Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen.

"It's good that he's talking about it because it focuses the attention of the unpledged delegates on the need to put their country and their party first by making up their mind before the convention."

**

The Republican National Committee is having quite a lot of fun with this Super-D stuff.

It's 7 months til the election and we're looking at how people poll in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Let's go back 7 months to the polls. HILLARY IN A LANDSLIDE!!!! So much for polls.

Obama philosophy: Deny and destroy. Don't pay for your mistakes. Deny ever hearing or seeing anything. If you don't want to pay for your mistakes just get rid of them or blame someone else.

Clinton is leading John McCain in a GE in Florida, Ohio and Penn. WOW!

Obama......not looking too good.

Let's see how the Super-D's handle the "new will" of the people. There's going to be a whole lot of hand wringing now. The more the Supers beat up Hillary, the better her ratings get.

Peg, have you lost your mind! the bosnia thing in no way compares to bho's 20 years of affiliation with a racist hate filled un-american mentor/friend/spiritual guide(a vietnam vet...was he drafted....)he is also affiliated with the black panthers(who went to durham, nc threatening to kill the white boys accused of raping a black hooker, when there was no evidence), farrakhan, rezko,...he said he never heard what wright said, then in "the speech' he said he did. his wife has never been proud of the country till her husband won a state in the primary. and it too goes on and on.the key if he is the nominee running against mccain will be to see if bho and/or his followers can turn all the attacks around calling them racially motivated. seems to be the pattern.

Posted by: fedup | Apr 2, 2008 9:58:38 AM

If Hillary is bringing up Rev. Wright, Obama should bring up Bosnia, because I can see all sorts of ads showing her lying.....and "do we want a liar in the White House"? Obama can counter ads with Rev. Wright fairly effectively. He does not support this guy and he should make the country more aware of his good attributes (Now!) not just he 10 sec. soundbites. Hillary is a flawed candidate....and the Republicans still prefer to run against her to Obama.

Posted by: Peg | Apr 2, 2008 9:42:53 AM

bho supporters smuggly think they can win the general election without Hillary supporters. the fact is, what carried bho past hillary in most of the states is the black vote--90%-10%. this part of the equation, black voters, ALREADY vote democrat, so this is a given for democrats. what he needs is to swallow up large numbers in other groups, including hillary supporters. without pulling in large numbers of these voters he has no chance of winning come november. ALL of my hillary friends have said they will vote mccain, spelt "anyone but bho". one thing is sure if bho is the nominee:
he will run,
he will loose,
he will be done in the party as a viable national candidate..you do not run twice...

Jay -- I was just looking at the website and was a bit surprised to see the scales tipped way the other way. The main problem with that site, however, is that it is not robust to fluctuations in the polling. The model the author uses needs to do some smoothing and/or rolling averages of polls -- it looks like the most recent poll is the decision source.

Nonetheless, the latest snapshot is a grim picture for both candidates, but I don't think it would actually be the brutal if the general election were held today.

SadStateofAffairs,
thanks, and so true.
A campaign forged the way his was cannot win
he and his handlers and all the people who are backing him-al, jesse, and co.
know it is true.
and no doubt when the tide turns they will all cry "foul"
but the fact of the matter is the more we learn about him-the more we know
it was "foul" from the very start.

Pablo,

The topic is Super-D's and what should they do? They are twixt and in between. Your attacks on fellow bloggers exposes who you really are.

I have to tell you. Initially I thought Barack Obama was a phenomen. Something you don't see in your lifetime. A leader that would make history. And, I thought he was worth looking into. What I found wasn't pretty. As a matter of fact, he is disturbing. And fellow bloggers like MattOhio, Jgaw, Westcoastmessenger, and myself have been trying to guide you to the "Facts about Obama". We now realize that there are forces in the media that are difficult to overcome. However, we will inform, contribute, and MARCH if that is what is needed, to keep the ill informed, young, inexperienced, and disillusioned fellow americans, from making the most severe mistake of their lives.

We won't let it happen. Why? Because we love you....and we love our coutry.

pablo,
all three of these people are only human
there most certainly are skeleton in mccains closet the keating deal, who knows what went on between he and the wife he divorced after he got out of the prison camp. but the fact remains is they are the only three we have right now to chose from for president. so instead of wanting to see how much dirt and skeletons we can dig up on these people-the only way we can truly judge them is on the issues of today, and what they say they will do for us if they are elected.
no perfect human beings just public
servants all three wanting to be our president.-judge them on the issues-not the dirt.

Posted by: jgaw | Apr 2, 2008 12:05:00 AM

Obama is leading because people did not know him at first and voted for him. It is a different story now, most voters that voted for him would take their vote back now.If he get nominated, in november he dont have a chance, and McCain will be the president.

Posted by: Dragon | Apr 2, 2008 12:03:38 AM

@Jkan | Apr 1, 2008 11:51:46 PM:

This should definitely be of some concern for folks. Granted, there has been one poll conducted (Gallup, March 26) which showed 28% of Clinton supporters voting for McCain if Obama is the nominee and 19% of Obama supporters voting for McCain if Clinton is the nominee.

This is a troubling statistic for whomever is the democratic nominee. For obvious and many reasons, the DNC is in a bit pickle if they don't find a way to resolve the current division within their party.

Posted by: LOM | Apr 1, 2008 11:59:23 PM

pablo, I have no doubt you are 100% american, your name suggest of latino extraction. my is african-american
and if latino is correct. until this war there had been a imbalance of the number of african american and latino going into the military in hope of paying for college-economics.
now back to hillary and her taxes-I will take hillary and her taxes and knowing she will do what she has said she would on healthcare, student loans, ending the war responsibily, and getting this country back on the right track. what I do know is what I see right now in obama-a copier, and in his very short political career-a whole lot of trouble. a lot of the stuff people go on about with hillary-is dreamed up, made up, and down right crazy-that is why some of it stays around so long-it is not because she is so good and such a crook they are good at covering it up. it is because most of if is blown up in peoples minds and simply not true.
and most people would rather believe and talk about that kind of stuff-rather than try to understand the issues and talk about them-
My husband said he was talking to a nurse-and she said she could not stand hillary because she was the cause of her having an hmo and a ppo-just crazy stuff.
hillary is be good for this country.

Posted by: jgaw | Apr 1, 2008 11:58:22 PM

Jkan - To each their own. I think Mccains time should have happened 8 years ago to be honest with you. I agree he has served his country honorably....I can't remember his name being brought on any money scandals like clinton or obama...but I bet there are skeletons in the closet....I love the idea that Rush, Hannity and Coulter don't want him in...that alone is almost enough to get my vote over Obama but not quite

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:58:18 PM

All my friends I talk to say as of today:

They will vote for McCain if Obama gets the nod. At least McCain is a deserving candidate.

I agree with them 100%.

Because, OBAMA has 0 experience and yet he wants to be the president. That's STRANGE to many.

Posted by: Jkan | Apr 1, 2008 11:51:46 PM

Obamadefector - Can I borrow that crystal ball 'cause WOW!! it must be awesome to know what is going to happen...is that the same crystal ball that said mccain was out and hillary was a sure thing?

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:49:34 PM

I think it is fair to identify the sequence of events that lead to the current situation of MI and FL, but I find it puzzling that Senator Obama isn't doing more to ensure that these two very critical states (in my opinion at least according to past general elections) don't feel disenfranchised one way or another.

Let's assume for a moment he becomes the nominee...blaming other people while exhibiting what seems to be a lack of leadership to bring a voice to these two states is not going to bode well with these swing states in the GE. This is a very serious problem.

Posted by: LOM | Apr 1, 2008 11:47:55 PM

What good is it to see Hillary's tax returns......are you kidding me. LOL She is shady to say the least.

Posted by: Sam | Apr 1, 2008 11:43:08 PM

LOM - I understand that but how is anything going to get reconciled without getting it all out in the open...and I agree, both of them should be saying what really went wrong in those states

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:43:03 PM

I think blaming the people who actually screwed it up is lacking forward-thinking and leadership. If that would truly help reconcile the potential rift, why isn't Senator Obama trying to hold them accountable now.

I think if he truly wants to be viewed as legitimate come the general election with MI and FL, he should attempt to be more vocal and proactive NOW rather than playing catch-up in a GE contest.

Blaming people may point to the root cause of a problem, but it doesn't begin to bring resolution to the real issues.

Posted by: LOM | Apr 1, 2008 11:40:40 PM

jgaw - if she's as crooked on her tax returns as she is on her storytelling, it may not do all that you say...just will prove she is not the one to do all that you say...as for my heritage....born in the U.S., 100% American. Not sure what your inferring but I really wouldn't go there.

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:39:31 PM

LOM - he can reconcile that byblameing the people that actually screwed it up - their elected representatives voted to move the dates knowing full well what would happen. You reconcile those votes by bringing up what Bush did in FL...please keep the governor out of it.. Michigan will be more difficult but can be done.

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:35:53 PM

pablo, what good will it do you to see hillary' tax returns?
will it get you universal healthcare
if your heritage is as your name sounds
will it keep your fellows from having to go to war?
will it get you affordable healthcare?
will it help the economy in anyway?
pablo, What will seeing Hillary's tax returns do for you?

Posted by: jgaw | Apr 1, 2008 11:35:35 PM

Poor Super-D's. They are soooo confused. Geez, do I take the "American Idol" or "Rocky"? Oh my gosh. Do I want the pretty boy or the laser guided missle? Should I pick the good looking, charismatic, smooth talking, anti-american, anti-white, anti-semetic, anti-pregnancy, anti-american, pathological lair fellow?

Or, should I take the one who isn't perfect, but knows how to talk to rouge nations, fix the economy, provide healthcare, restore integrity with our allies, and end a WAR.

Poor Super-D's.

What makes you think Hillary' supporters will support obama after all the vile things that are said to them, and why would any people from fl and mich with a brain vote for him-since he and his surrogates were in on the punishment of them in the primaries.
I and many Hillary supporters will not vote for obama in nov. because his handlers (dean, bradley, kerry, kennedy and co) hijacked the dem party.
I want the smartest person in the position of the president.
Obama is not the smartest-He is not smarter than Hillary on the issues-we need a president who can think on their feet-when articulating the issues-obama cannot. obama claiming to be a uniter
has fractured the country-with this rev. wright thing -the dem party-by causing an alienation of hillary supporters-and the black community-by causing-and not denouncing-the threatening of elected black officials and voters if they do not support obama.
he is supposed to be the candidate of change-but he has been the cause of many black people who have never voted before to reg. and follow him blindly-placing hope in him hoping their situation will somehow or another change just because he is in office.
obama and his handlers are doing to the poor and working poor black people what karl rove and bush did to the rual and evangelical voters.
the media is biased
I do not want my first black president to win like this.
and he will not win against mccain for the reasons I stated above-no fl, no mich, no hillary supporters. No obama president plus hillary is smarter that he is on the issues.

Posted by: jgaw | Apr 1, 2008 11:31:54 PM

Let's assume for a moment that this nomination goes to the convention floor and Obama wins the nomination in a scenario that MI and FL aren't seated (since they failed to a) hold second nominating contests or b) appeal to the DNC's credentials committee to be seated).

How does an Obama nomination reconcile garnering MI and FL support in the general election and the potential feeling that MI and FL were disenfranchised during the primaries?

If the argument is that these swing states won't matter in the general election, then these two issues don't have to be reconciled, but if they are important, how does he win those states?

Posted by: LOM | Apr 1, 2008 11:29:07 PM

SadStateOfAffairs - Nah...lets compare campaign contributions or tax returns - - Did any news ever come out of her release of schedule from her time as first lady?

Pity, it won't work for the next 10.

Wanna Bowl????

Posted by: SadStateOfAffairs | Apr 1, 2008 11:22:30 PM

Obamadefector - Yeah...go ahead and vote with your color...most people (myself included) might actually vote for whom they feel is the best candidate....race or gender may just be a coincidence in the end.

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:19:56 PM

It was a faulty election and would disenfranchise the rest of the country if those votes are allowed to count. If you want to get into a war? I would imagine, based on polls, that the rest of the country would out number the small amount of people who would actually take to the streets from MI and FL because many of them? Understand who cost them their votes. Many of you are simply using this as a political ploy to slam Obama when the majority knows whose fault it really is....and none of you can explain away Hillary voting to disenfranchise FL and MI along with Obama and Harold the Ick.

Posted by: Deanna | Apr 1, 2008 11:19:29 PM

Sorry, that copy 'n paste didn't work out.

@pablo -

the shortest summary Roosevelt's interview on Clinton might be:
" “A little scary” is an understatement. I see her as dangerously corrupt."

The whole thing is jzeifman dot com, Jerry Zeifman's site, the Former Chief Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee.

Posted by: eleanora | Apr 1, 2008 11:18:36 PM

SadStateOfAffairs - Ickes, the new mouthpiece for Clinton voted against Florida and Michigan to get their delegates seated...think about that one. Obama followed the rules and now your saying let them count? how fair is it that a cheater wins...she should not have campained there and should have pulled her name from the ballot...I bet the counts would have voted had SHE followed the rules.

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:16:21 PM

Yes I do. The majority of the American people are behind him and the majority of Hillary's people care about the party as a whole and will support him. People with a brain in FL and MI KNOW that it is not Obama's fault their vote is not counting so they will not hold it against him. Actually he is the ONLY one right now STILL trying to get those votes to count.

Posted by: Deanna | Apr 1, 2008 11:14:28 PM

Deanna,

That would be none other than "WestCoastMessenger". And he is correct. We will take to the streets. Maybe even before Denver if needed.

Why?

Because we know a shame when we see one. And we will not let OUR DEMOCRATIC party be taken over by a gang of left wing, bleeding heart, birckenstock wearing, latte drinking, muddle minded, fanatical, ill mannered, reality blinded, group of miss informed, highly educated IDIOTS.

eleanora - dude...noone is going to read that ....summarize aye?

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:12:24 PM

deanne,
do you think obama can win the white house from mccain without the votes of the dem in fl and mich and the supporters of Hillary?

Posted by: jgaw | Apr 1, 2008 11:12:11 PM

YES he voted to strip the votes of FL and MI and now is trying to say they should count...just like Clinton...people and states only matter if she needs them and he needs them to keep that paycheck coming. So go ahead and send more money lOL Mark Penn got paid over 8 million dollars since Feb. but the vendors went unpaid...shows who counts in Clintons world.

Posted by: Deanna | Apr 1, 2008 11:11:04 PM

Here's a (large) part of an interview with Eleanor Roosevelt on Hillary Clinton:

JZ: Can you give specific examples of her lack of ethics?

ER: Yes, a large number of them are described in the book Hillary’s
Pursuit of Power. As the book documents, most of the allegations of her misconduct were not the concoctions of what she defensively characterized as a “vast right wing conspiracy.” Instead her scandals were first exposed by Democrats. For example, in 1992 when
Hillary and Bill Clinton were campaigning for their “two for the price of one” presidency, their fraudulent “Whitewater” transactions were first exposed in the pro-Democratic New York Times by Jeff Gerth an investigative
journalist.

Early in their first term Hillary headed the “Presidential Task Force on Health
Care Reform” that the General Accounting office found cost the government
$13.4 million dollars. It also cost the government $434,000.00 for legal fees in
defending challenges to the secrecy of its proceedings. Since the task force
operated in violation of federal “Sunshine Laws” Mrs. Clinton and others were fined $285, 864.00. The final plan was 1,324 pages long and was
summarily rejected without debate by the Democratic controlled Congress.

When she unveiled her plan Democratic Senator Pat Moynihan the then
chairman of the Senate subcommittee that had jurisdiction over it, was
adamantly opposed to it. Because her plan allowed the insurance carriers to
manage the practice of medicine and denied patients freedom to choose
their doctors -- he was unwilling even to hold hearings on it. Similarly liberal Democratic Congressman Pete Stark of San Francisco, chairman of the
House Subcommittee on Health Insurance. also refused to hold hearings on
what the media called “Hillarycare.”

Of all the criticism of Mrs. Clinton’s White House role one of the most
incisive was by New York Times editor Abe Rosenthal -- who over his entire
career had been a bulwark of support for liberal Democratic causes. He
wrote that:

In concept, the First Ladyship… evades anti-nepotism statutes and avoids
the responsibility that should go with authority…the First Ladyship has
become a government center. In lieu of salary it provides the jobholder with
staff, luxury, and that most important of all perks -- power.

On March 4, 1994 an editorial appeared in the pro-Democrat New York Times
entitled “White House Ethics Meltdown,” stating that after the apparent
suicide of Vincent Foster, the deputy counsel:

Chief White House Counsel Bernard Nussbaum interfered with the
investigation by the National Park Service and transferred secret files to Mr.Clinton's private lawyer. All this paints a picture of a White House dedicated to short-cutting justice if that is what it takes to shield the financial affairs of Mr. Clinton and his wife from scrutiny.

President Clinton then requested Nussbaum's resignation. Eventually, more than 30 other top officials of the Clinton administration were investigated, indicted, convicted or forced to resign. Three associates of Hillary and Bill Clinton pleaded the 5th amendment privilege against self incrimination -- and others fled the country.

During their 1996 campaign Hillary Clinton, and her White House staff were
used receive campaign money illegally. Her office was frequently visited by
Johnny Chung, a Chinese-American entrepreneur who had known the
Clintons in Arkansas. Chung made a total of $366,000 illegal contributions to
the 1996 Clinton campaign.

On August 22, 1997 in an editorial entitled The White House Turn Stile the
New York Times commented on still other activities that Chung had
disclosed to Tom Brokaw of NBC News:

Mr. Chung said he gave $50,000 to a Hillary Clinton to help pay for a
Christmas reception in the executive mansion. Hillary Rodham Clinton said
she had no recollection of such a meeting.

Finally, before departing the Clintons took moving vans filled with
government property from the White House, including china, antiques, and
other furnishings. Also more than 140 last minute pardons were granted that
were highly questionable. As result the Clinton offended the sensibilities of
some fellow Democrats who finally spoke out.

Al Hunt of the Wall Street Journal -- and previously Bill Clinton’s staunchest
defender on NBC’s Capital Gang -- said on February 24, 2001: “They leave
a stain that is bigger than anything in impeachment…I think the damage is
severe. I think it is lasting. It’s on Bill Clinton’s legacy. It’s on Hillary
Clinton, and it may well be on the Democratic Party.”

Jimmy Breslin, New York’s liberal Democratic columnist, had known Hillary
since 1974 when she worked on the Nixon impeachment. On January 31,
2001 he wrote in Newsday: “Bill Clinton was taking arm chairs and coffee
tables as he left the White House…Every time Hillary Clinton passes a bank
the alarm goes off. Her name now and forever more is Senator Shoplift.”

Paul Goldman of the Democratic National Committee published an article in
the Wall Street Journal of February 15, 2001 titled Democrats Must Censure
Clinton, stating “Clinton didn’t just take the White House China, he took its
soul and flushed it down the toilet.”

The eleventh hour pardons were granted in violation of guidelines that had
been in place for decades in the office of the Justice Department and
followed by all past Presidents. One of the last minute pardons involved
Hillary in particular. In 1999 six of the leaders of a Hassidic group in
Rockland County New York had been convicted in for swindling $40 million
in federal funds in the form of fictitious Pell Grants. In her campaign for the
Senate had visited the group and promised to help their leaders.

Two other pardons were granted to Edward and Jo Gregory over the
strenuous objections of the Justice Department. They had been convicted of
bank fraud in 1982. The pardons came in March 2000 during Hillary’s hotly
contested Senate Campaign – to which the Gregory’s made contributions.
The guidelines were also ignored to grant pardons to several felons who had
paid Hillary’s brother Hugh Rodham fees of $4,000 for representing them.

The most notorious pardon was of Marc Rich, a multi-national financier who
was on the FBI’s most wanted list. Rich had ties to Castro in Cuba and
Gaddafi in Libya, had abandoned his American citizen, and fled to
Switzerland to escape arrest here. Rich and his wife Denise then had an
amicable divorce and she began to represent him in the United States.

As was reported in Time Magazine on February 13, 2001: “Marc Rich's
socialite ex-wife has donated an estimated $1 million to Democratic causes,
including $70,000 to Hillary Clinton's successful Senate campaign and
$450,000 to the Clinton presidential library fund. She also lobbied heavily for
Marc's pardon.”

Some of the Clintons’ strongest prior Democratic supporters denounced
the Rich pardon. For example, liberal Massachusetts Congressman Barney
Frank said: “It was a terrible thing he did…It was just abusive. These are
people who forgot where the line was between public service and what was
personally convenient for them.” Democratic Senator Joe Biden of
Delaware said “I think the President had an incredible lapse of memory or
was brain dead.”

One of the most forceful criticisms of the Clintons was by President Carter’s
former Chief of Staff, Hamilton Jordan. On February 21, 2001 Jordon
published an article in the Wall Street Journal titled The First Grifters, stating
that in describing the Clintons:

A word comes to mind: grifters -- a term used in the Great Depression to
describe fast-talking con artists who roamed the countryside, profiting at the
expense of the poor and the uneducated, always one step ahead of the law,
moving on before they were held accountable for their schemes and half-
truths.

Isn't Ickes one of the bozos that voted to strip Florida and Michigan of their votes? Now of course he wants them to count because he's with the Clinton Camp....how 'bout bringing up the losers and hypocrites that Hill and Bill hang out with too? Clintons just rolling in the mud and dragging everyone with them.

Posted by: pablo | Apr 1, 2008 11:08:15 PM

Anyone who thinks a vote in FL or MI should stand is actually disenfranchising the rest of the country. We followed the rules and candidates won fair and square and now you want US to accept a faulty election? AFTER your states broke the rules to boot? Really? Really? Not in this life time.

There you obama people go again, with your anger and hate and "holier than thou" attitude.....YOU GET REAL.

THE VOTES NEED TO BE COUNTED.

After they ARE, we people who are NOT for obama will take our votes elsewhere.......naaahh nnnnahhh.

Since Bill Clinton used him in his hour of need he would at least know his way around the White House LOL

Posted by: Deanna | Apr 1, 2008 11:03:52 PM

Pastor Wright should have a religious position in the White House to give spiritual guidance for Obama and the first lady Michell .

Posted by: Francise | Apr 1, 2008 11:02:45 PM

Count, take it up with the DNC and stop being annoying with the caps

Posted by: ll | Apr 1, 2008 11:01:15 PM

I have family in Penn. Conservative at that. They are freaking out about Wright and "his" values. They are voting Democrat this season due to Bush. They are firmly in Hillary's court and are circulating their own emails about Obama's sleezy ties since the Media won't. These are some pretty mainstream folks under 30 years of age.

Interesting to say the least.

Dear SuperDelegates,

As Hillary Clinton came under increasing scrutiny for her story about facing sniper fire in Bosnia, one question that arose was whether she has engaged in a pattern of lying.

The now-retired general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, who supervised Hillary when she worked on the Watergate investigation, says Hillary’s history of lies and unethical behavior goes back farther – and goes much deeper – than anyone realizes.

Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”

yours,

mencken

For every idiot racist who says " No white man will ever vote for a black man"...perhaps someone needs to take the bottle from his hand and introduce him to the over 200 elected officals in the United States and tell him that the majority of the popular vote that Obama enjoys did not all come from Black people. News flash to him perhaps....

Posted by: Deanna | Apr 1, 2008 10:58:26 PM

Someone posted about "taking to the streets of Denver" if FL and MI are not counted......It's over. You need to understand how that happened. Who is really at fault. It most certainly was Clinton and Obama who agreed that if you guys broke the rules you would not count. Using the empirical "you" because you guys elected the people who decided that they (you) could go against the DNC and lose your delegates.
To even attempt to make a thinking person "think" either race was "fair" and should be counted at this date is just not going to happen. It was not fair and the DNC will not, nor will any of the committees, allow Clinton to accept those votes as a true indication of a vote in either state.
So I guess you can plan to "take to the streets" but it will not change the outcome if it even makes it that far...but your, and others like you, threatening to do so? Will only encourage the DNC to hasten the super delegates to decide BEFORE Denver.

Bishop, you are probably my dad's age. We are from the south. He and I differ on canidates. He is a racist. He said no white man will vote for a black man. It kills me that he feels this way. But that is how he was brought up. But our kids don't feel this way. Our kids are extremely educated. The internet has made them wise beyond their years. They are the hope, it's their turn

Posted by: ll | Apr 1, 2008 10:49:53 PM

Let's see..Obama has the Wright issue to deal with while Clinton has the sniper incident, Bill's issues, her selling out of Bosnia, her failed health care plan, travel gate, condemning jews, too many lies to count but one of the best was lying about where her daughter was during 9/11...really LOL....so I guess we get to see if some of those supers Harold is threatening have any brains at all. Talk about unelectable...LOL Really....I am surprised anyone can even say that with a straight face..really LOL

Are we talking cp clases I have three grand children in high school . Who are all honour students.I also had problems of democracy in high school and have always been politicly active. But my views have changed over all theese years as will thiers and just like in 68 when I was in high school this thing looks like it is headed the same way

Posted by: Bishop | Apr 1, 2008 10:34:00 PM

Bishop I have no idea how old you are but what these kids learn today is nothing what I learned. They have advanced placement in courses such as political science. In class they have debates about the canidates. You have no idea how much they know about politics these days. Every year Harvard invites numerous uninversities to a political debate. These kids are not the kids of the past where they know nothing.

Count Da Votes

I'm all for personal responsibility and agree with you that someone has to pay for the transgressions of MI and FL.

Since both Governors were complicit, I propose we IMPEACH these governors. With the history of FL and botched elections, the FL Governor bears even more responsibility. He has to go first.

IMPEACH the GOVERNORS Now!

Make it your Cause Count Da Votes!!!

you think a sixteen and an eighteen year are old enough to knw all about what the whole United State needs your kids must have what they want

Posted by: Bishop | Apr 1, 2008 9:54:30 PM

Al you will be one of the ones responsible for sending our kids to war not the people who vote for Obama. So stop blaming it on them. They are voting for their party.

Posted by: ll | Apr 1, 2008 9:53:39 PM

Oops, typo. Hillary's Count Every Vote Act (not County). Sherr, I can only speak for Utah that there is not Obama voter's remorse and I am a delegate.

al,

a last comment, I must go. You write: "I have never seen so much division in my life. Obama is no unifier."

I can understand you see that division. But where does it come from? Not from Hillary or Obama, IMO. They're both doing a good and tough job in fighting for the nomination. They're both highly skilled, very clever, and strongly dedicated to a Democratic agenda for America's years to come. They share a lot of ideas, not surprisingly, for they are fellow Democrats.

The nasty division is created mainly by the media, who constantly try to stir us up (they need their attention) by throwing rumors and scandals and pseudo-issues at us that make us angry or scared or bitter or whatever. That whole media game in the end is only about attracting viewers and readers and bloggers, i.e. about making big money out of such a "boring" subject as politics. Our reactions to Jake's teasing stories are totally over the top most of the time: we begin to divide and tear apart what was and is united in the Democrat's agenda for this country.

And you yourself are an example of such a divider as well, I find. You, for a reason I didn't hear yet, no longer belief in the unified party; you tell us time and again you'll vote Republican.

So yes, that pretty divisive. I think however that it's the media that took you to that point, not any divisive difference between Hillary and Obama. In political ideas, in the pragmatism of their proposals, there's no such difference.

I lost track of what I wanted to say I'm afraid, and I must go now. I'll be glad to vote for both Hillary and Obama, depending on who gets the nomination (I voted for BO in the primary): I think they're both very strong candidates who both can beat McCain in the GE. I think you should stick to the good old party as well; it won't ever change to your liking when people like you leave it behind.

Wait till they find out just what he thinks about hand guns and many other issues if we ever get to see where he stands and wait till they hear he does not want his daughter punished with a baby or an std what is that all about. I can't wait until they show his pastor friend who want all gays killed. why didn't he pick someone like TD JAKES

Posted by: Bishop | Apr 1, 2008 9:51:46 PM

bernd, I am a baby boomer. Our kids are the future and should have a say. Why are they wrong because they don't agree with the establishment. People just love to dismiss them as immature nobodies in this election

Posted by: ll | Apr 1, 2008 9:50:49 PM

Howard Dean, who is in the tank for Obama, and the REPUBLICAN Legislators voted for the vote not to count.

If their isn't going be a REVOTE, the original vote should stand.

People have given Obama options and his cocky attitude has rejected all of them without proposing a solution.

All that is going happen by ignoring those two states IS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE GOING BE ANGRY THAT THIS ELECTION SEEMED MORE THAN RIGGED.

Posted by: John | Apr 1, 2008 9:49:36 PM

The DNC, and the legislators of MI and FL decided that the vote wouldn't count. Suddenly Clinton has (moral+ ethical questions?), makes me laugh. Where was she months ago when this decision was decided?

Another I voted for it even though I was against it, statement. It's just politics.

McCain is going beat Obama like Bush beat {uber popular} Kerry back in '04!

and face it, McCain is NO Bush.

Posted by: John | Apr 1, 2008 9:32:58 PM

Well John when McCain said that the Rev.
Parsley is his "spiritual guide", that is pretty definitive.

Posted by: Thinking | Apr 1, 2008 9:31:00 PM

@ thinking

Where is the twenty year relationship with those Pastors and McCain?

Where is the proof McCain didn't JUST use them for an endorsement?

Has he called them their "crazy uncle"/ thrown his grandma under the bus for them/ called them his spiritual advisers?

Posted by: John | Apr 1, 2008 9:26:11 PM

Hillary says of course the Rev Wright! The Republicans will use it. Sure after they figure out how McCain can explain this:

Reverend John Hagee has called the Catholic Church the "Great Whore." He has said that the Anti-Christ will rise out of the European Union (of course, the Anti-Christ will also be Jewish). He has said all Muslims are trained to kill and will be part of the devil's army when Armageddon comes (which he hopes is soon). John McCain continues to say he is proud of Reverend Hagee's endorsement.

Reverend Rod Parsley believes America was founded to destroy Islam. Since this is such an outlandish claim, I have to add for the record, that he is not kidding. Reverend Parsley says Islam is an "anti-Christ religion" brought down from a "demon spirit." Of course, we are in a war against all Muslims, including presumably Muslim-Americans. Buts since Parsley believes this is a Christian nation and that it should be run as a theocracy, he is not very concerned what Muslim-Americans think.

John McCain says Reverend Rod Parsley is his "spiritual guide

McCain can't beat either Democratic Candidate

bernd,

I have never seen so much division in my life. Obama is no unifier. All that about your kids is great, but they are being snowed. I hope your kids are not of draft age. When McCain wins, depending on the situation, there may be one!
