"The Shoe Is On the Other Footage"

April 30, 2008 2:42 PM

I noted this week, out of curiosity more than anything else, that the new Democratic National Committee TV ad against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., uses stock footage from Getty Images that was also used by Michael Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Curiously, the Republican National Committee is using this nugget as further evidence as to why the DNC TV ad should be pulled.

However you feel about the DNC TV ad -- and Factcheck.org is not too keen on the way the DNC depicts McCain's "100 years" in Iraq comment -- I was not saying that the DNC took the footage from Michael Moore. They both appear to have taken it from stock footage.

If one were so inclined, one could point to the RNC ad from 2006 that used footage of Osama bin Laden taken from Al-Jazeera and use it to question whether the RNC is too closed aligned with Al-Jazeera.

That would be silly, but one could do so, right?

"Looks like the shoes on the other footage," e-mailed Mike Gehrke, self-described "DNC Research Director and Joke Plagiarist." "We won't be intimidated by a candidate desperately trying to avoid his own record -- or his lawyers."

Responded the RNC's Danny Diaz: "I believe there are very real differences between pointing out the threat we face from radical Islamic extremism as opposed to using images from a radical, left wing movie to promote surrendering to the terrorists.  It is unfortunate that Democrats continue to stand by radical policies supported by Michael Moore and MoveOn.org and fail to understand the consequences of failure against the terrorists."

OK…moving on….

Until the GOP realizes that everytime they lower the bar in politics, every time the dirty the game, there will be boomerangs flying at them.

Videoclips. Yes yes yes. Anyone can use them.

We're going to giving full air to Mr. Hagee, his preachings, and McCain's embrace of him on stage. Catholics, you'e gonna love it. Hagee calls the Pope the antichrist and the Catholic Church a "wh0r3". McCain on ABC saying he's "happy" to have his support. McCain on stage calling him a great man etc etc.

Let's not forget about Parsley, who believes separation of church and state is wrong, we should destroy Islam, etc. We may well have to be in Iraq for 100 years when muslims learn that our President said that the man who preaches obliteration of Islam is a "moral compass". Let me quote for you what McCain said about Parsley, ON VIDEO:

McCain: "I'm very honored to have here one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide, Pastor Rod Parsley" ... shakes his hand and thanks him etc etc & etc.

We're going to be making sure everyone here's the would-be president call an audience member "a little jerk".

We're just getting started.

Wright had some video. Now it's McCain's turn.

Oh, are the RNC crying about somebody beating them to their own game?!

The RNC, masters of spin! The only difference is this one is true! Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. LOL!

I'm gonna go right over to moveon.org and support their efforts with a nice contribution. First time I've ever done that before.

think of all the free publicity Obama has got from this.

And WHO CARES!!!!!

I like Wright more than I like Bozo!

The R's are complaining that someone would take a small piece of video out of context and play it over and over again in an attempt to mislead? I dunno, ask Howard Dean and Rev. Wright if they agree? Poor babies, that's so unfair! Puh-lease!

Yep, I think there is very real difference between using footage from an American and footage from Al-Jazeera. Don't you?

I think for the RNC and the DNC this "guilt by association" crap is going to have to stop.

Back to the real issues, not the reel issues.

Can't you see why it's NOT "nit-picking", LLB? It suggests the "left" -- just as it did with Kerry -- has AGAIN turned over info to the WRONG side of the Democratic Party, which (with hardly a peep from the "left") for all its holier-than-thou posing has put off any contention with Bush on Iraq through 2009.

That Dr. Dean appears to go along with all this is sooo depressing.

I certainly never could have predicted I'd be praying for Clinton to win elections! :^)
It's more like The Godfather than Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Hopefully somebody in NC had some mimeographs in storage . . .

Belle Starr,

We know there's something wrong .
This pastor suddenly exposed for 3 days in the row.

Thanks for the information.

It seems that there's MORE Obama campaign involvement -- David Axelrod himself, no less! -- in the perhaps-manufactured Wright crisis.

"Axelrod confirms that he called Jim Terman, the president of Jasculca-Terman and Associates, a major Chicago P.R. outfit that specializes in doing crisis P.R. management for corporations and large institutions.

"I called Jim Terman and asked if they were interested in helping out and they followed up with the church," Axelrod emails, adding that his involvement ended there."

A major PR firm engineered this debacle? What in the world does THAT mean?

ROFL @ JustMyObservation. How bored are you?
I heard Bill Burton, Obama spokesperson is so proud that his mother-in-law gave her super delegate vote to Obama today that he is giving her a weekend at La Costa for Mothers Day.

Is a Hillary supporter actually quoting a Fox news poll? Oh My God. I have seen desperation stoop to new lows. Why is she still in the race? She is a bitter loser determined to destroy the Democratic party since they did not bestow the crown on her.

Why does Hillary Clinton oppose protecting innocent children from being exposed to cluster bombs?

Clinton - Nay on amendment: To protect civilian lives from unexploded cluster munitions.

And her supporters are talking about some silly Pastor?

From Fox News:

Nearly half of Democrats (48 percent) think Hillary Clinton has a better chance of beating John McCain in November — 10 percentage points higher than the 38 percent who think Barack Obama can win, according to a FOX News poll released Wednesday. This represents a significant shift from March, when Democrats said Obama was the candidate more likely to beat McCain.

Democrats continue to favor Clinton as their party’s leader, albeit narrowly: 44 percent want her to win the nomination and 41 percent want Obama. Last month Clinton was preferred by 2 percentage points

Hillary has nothing to do with this Rev.Wright controversy.
Obama and his pastor acted very good to convince voters that Obama had abandoned and denounced his pastor.
The purpose is to get white voters back to Obama.
Why he denounced now not six weeks ago?
The pastor is still the same pastor which gives offensive speeches.
But they did not have very good script because white people may think Obama did not denounce his pastor 6 weeks ago because it was offended white people only.
Yesterday, he denounced it because his pastor offended him.

Please be smart voters.

Today the McClatchy website is reporting the following news about another Hillary 'misrepresentation. Will the tv media report on it tonight?

INDIANAPOLIS — Hillary Clinton loves to tell the story about how the Chinese government bought a good American company in Indiana, laid off all its workers and moved its critical defense technology work to China.

It’s a story with a dramatic, political ending. Republican President George W. Bush could have stopped it, but he didn’t.

If she were president, Clinton says, she’d fight to protect those jobs. It’s just the kind of talk that’s helping her win support from working-class Democrats worried about their jobs and paychecks, not to mention their country’s security.

Are election years usually this depressing?

Rumor has it, that Rev. Wright and his body guards are on Hillary’s payroll. Months ago, Hillary was looking for a few hired guns and she found them. Just last week, witnesses shared that James Carville was seen passing, what appeared to be, an envelope filled with $100 bills to Rev. Wright. Cash under the table???? The meeting was held in a local diner a couple of days before Rev. Wright was to meet with Bill Moyer. Two questions: 1) why would Rev. Wright meet with James Carville who is a member of Hillary Clinton’s posse? 2) why does a preacher need body guards?

I thought a lot of this was rather strange, but then I noticed that Rev. Wright has been in rare form lately…making more appearances then usual, hooping and hollering like some egotistical maniac. And Hillary? Wow…it seems as though she sort of just sat in the corner and watched it all. Noticed how she hasn’t said anything worth mentioning, but managed to pick up a few key endorsements for the next primary states.

As May 6 approaches, Rev Wright’s comments and appearances will intensify. Obama will look bad, voters will loose trust, and Hillary will come out smelling like roses. In addition, Rev Wright is making all of the church leaders and preachers of all RACES look really, really bad. Now that’s sad!!!!

Btw…according to biblical and theological standards, Rev. Wright is classified as a false teacher. There is no black or white or green, in the Bible. What the heck is Black Liberation Theology?

It takes real guts for the RNC to stand by the "If you're against Bush, you're anti-American, unpatriotic, and want to surrender to our enemies" approach. You'd think that Bush's approval ratings might indicate to them that there's more to it than that.

I hope they keep it up, though. The more they remind us of the despicable Big Brother Doublethink of the last 8 years, the more they'll help to unify the Dems after the nomination is sealed.

If the choice is voting for this way of thinking or voting for the Dem I don't like, it's no contest - I choose the Dem.
