Assassination Discussions
May 23, 2008 5:44 PM
You may recall earlier this week a local newspaper in Georgia, the Roswell Beacon, was criticized for its cover art that depicted Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, in the crosshairs of a rifle.
Then there was former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's "joke" before the NRA convention about Obama thinking someone was aiming a gun at him, for which Huckabee apologized.
In apologizing for her comments today, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, said that Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., was on her mind a lot because of his recent tragic medical news.
But as ABC News' Eloise Harper points out, she's mentioned the RFK assassination before the Massachusetts' senator's bad news -- just far more delicately.
At a fundraiser in Washington, DC, earlier this month, she said, "sometimes you gotta calm people down a bit but if you look at successful presidential campaigns my husband did not get the nomination until June of 1992. I remember tragically when Senator Kennedy won California near the end of that process."
And in Shepherdstown, WV, this month, she said, "everyone is so focused on where we are right now. I remember in June 1992, that’s when Bill really wrapped up the nomination, middle of June after the CA primary. I remember what happened in the California primary in 1968 as Senator Kennedy won that primary. We traditionally have gone longer than you’ve seen in the last couple of cycles. And there isn’t any problem in closing ranks and unifying."

People have gone bonkers over this. The main point was that it was JUNE. JUNE, get it? Losing RFK was the worst thing that happened in politics. He was our last, best hope. We will never see the likes of him again. I mourn his death today. I mourn the loss of another good candidate, Hillary, to the hate mongers and narrow focus of the Obama camp. Due to their attitudes, there will not be party unity; we resent being put down and dismissed as unimportant. Obama could learn a lot from Robert Kennedy; you didn't have to be an ivy leaguer to join his campaign. At best, I was a B-student in college at the time. He accepted everyone; he was true party unity. Obama and his followers will never be able to duplicate that incredible time and place in history.

I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Plus RFK jr is still supporting her.
What she probally meant to say was that lots of historical events always happen.
We all want these historical events to be positive while continuing to work for our preferrred candidate.

I really don't understand how Hillary supporters can possibly blame Barack or even mention him or his camp here. The response from them was very simple...it is unfortunate and should not be part of politics.
The press, for the most part, has down played this. It is Hillary's own words, once again, getting her into trouble.
HRC fans can shout foul all they want, but it is her actions and those of her campaign, that is losing the race.
The DNC cannot be held hostage by extremists among the Clinton supporters. They cannot reward temper tantrums...just look at the facts.

The assassination gaffe is one thing. The bigger problem is her lame apology, if you can even call it that. She has still not apologized to Obama, his wife and his children for discussing the possibility of his assassination in the campaign trail.
Posted by: bob | May 24, 2008 12:50:45 PM
hooosiersue, Get serious about all three candidates having an equal chance of being assassinated. It is the conservatives that kill in this country. McCain has little chance of being assassinated, but both Clinton and Obama have a good chance, because of the hatred of the bigotry of the right wing in America. And obviously a black man is even more likely to be assassinated than a woman.
Posted by: john | May 24, 2008 12:12:23 PM
I would say that viewing the fervor on these boards throughout this campaign, each of the three remaining candidates has an equal chance of being assassinated. Hillary was even asked point blank about it during an interview; I remember her response, "The Secret Service has been protecting me for years and I trust them to do their jobs."
The Obama camp is once again making a remark all about Obama. We saw it last week with Bush's remark and now this. This is getting tiresome, and if this is any indication of what an Obama presidency will look like (and I believe it is) then I want no part of it.

The comments here really don't make sense. Why are commenters jumping on Obama for something said by Clinton? The Obama spokesperson, after initially making no statement at all, made one comment regarding this dustup: the comments made by Clinton were unfortunate and had no place in this campaign. Very benign and unemotional.
Obama himself has said nothing at all about this.
What, exactly, did Obama DO to cause such vitriolic reactions? Is it merely his existence? Is it that he's beating your candidate, without having to twist any metrics in his own favor? I really need someone to explain this to me.
Posted by: KimJ | May 24, 2008 11:50:56 AM
Why is Obama risking the safety of his children, by parading them around in public? Just to prove he is a family man? There are other ways.
The Obama's had to know how dirty and dangerous this would be...
His arrogance, need for power, political ambitions have driven every calculated move.
As much as I dislike and mistrust Obama I do not want him to get killed.
He should think more about his family and whether this is really worth it.

I know what the problem here is.....
Hillary said what she actually thinks out loud. Even though she doesn't want Obama assassinated, but wouldn't it be nice though. I think women also have these thoughts about past boyfriends, don't they ? I am sure that Hillary has had these thoughts many times about Bill.

To Jake Tapper,
The fundraiser and the west virginia comments were on the same day.
Both occured on May 7th. She had the west virginia event mid day and had the fundraiser that night.
The story is about lying. She said it was on her mind because of the recent kennedy news. But she said this in a pattern.
I certainly don't believe she meant any harm. But she was lying that this was the first time she said it. Just like the bosnia lying.
My biggest problem with her lying is when she lies about Michigan. She said in October it wouldn't count for anything and it didn't make any difference whether she kept her name on the ballot.
Posted by: david | May 24, 2008 5:33:43 AM
EvelynB,
No, thanks.
We, except you, are very loyal to Hillary.
We feel her pain.
Posted by: catleya | May 24, 2008 2:28:19 AM
They have been pushed her to get out of the race .
No media talk about her anymore only Obama and McCain even she won big margin in WV and KY recently.
She has popular votes.
Obama already looked for VP, assumes she has already over.
All of these issues have put her under pressure.
She can't defense herself because they won't listen to her.
Can you put her in your shoe?
Posted by: catleya | May 24, 2008 2:25:19 AM
Senator Clinton's history is incorrect. Bill Clinton had the nomination wrapped up in late March of 1992. And, the primary that year started in February. In 1968, the primary election began in the middle of March. From March to June is not a long primary.
She did not misspeak, she was not tired, she said the same thing in a Time Magazine article last March. Her remarks have gotten attention now because they were being streamed live through the Internet.
As Olbermann said tonight, we have forgiven her many things but this we cannot forgive. Invoking the image of political assassination when most Obama supporters fear that very thing, is reckless. RFK must be turning in his grave.
Posted by: Cindy | May 24, 2008 12:14:52 AM
That's TWICE. Two Times. So it has nothing to do with Ted Kennedy. It has to do with her subconsciously wanting it to happen. She's not just a fighter. She wants one of her wacky white racists to do it for her. Which would make her liable.
Posted by: kravitz | May 23, 2008 11:34:33 PM
I give Hillary the benefit of the doubt about her JFK comments.
What bothers me about her interview, however, is that she said her opponent is asking her to leave the race. That is absolutely untrue. Obama compliments Hillary at every speech, and has never asked her to leave the race. Why lie about that?
What is also bothersome was her excuse, saying she was thinking about Teddy, but then it comes out she has mentioned the JFK reference several times before.
It's the blatant lies from Hillary that bother me.

Sources: Clinton, Obama supporters discuss exit strategies
CNN - 3 hours ago
(CNN) -- Several close friends and supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton said they are seeking a "graceful exit strategy" for Clinton from the race for the Democratic nomination, possibly as part of a joint ticket for the White House.
Is this their idea of "graceful?"
Posted by: dennis | May 23, 2008 10:40:15 PM
I've supported Senator Clinton financially and verbally all the way since last summer. He comments did a dis-service to the Kennedy family and to our memory of the fine service of Bobby. She was still in high school when he was brutally assassinated.
I no longer support Senator Clinton, but I remain a staunch Democrat. I have just sent $25 to Senator Obama and I urge you all to do the same.

Disgraceful comments from Sen. Clinton. She does not deserve to be in the White House.
Posted by: double B | May 23, 2008 10:31:26 PM
Clinton supporters were all over Obama for not wearing a lapel pin but seem to think this latest guff if just something we should overlook.
I've just switched my vote, he comments were totally uncalled for, her campaign in $40 million in debt, and she's proved now that she is incapable of thinking fast enough be be a sewrious contender.

Tasteless comments from Senator Clinto.
Posted by: billy | May 23, 2008 10:27:37 PM
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has endorsed Mrs. Clinton, defended her remarks in a telephone interview Friday evening. “I’ve heard her make that argument before,” Mr. Kennedy said, speaking on his cell phone as he drove to the family compound in Hyannis for the holiday weekend. “It sounds like she was invoking a familiar historical circumstance in support of her argument for continuing her campaign.”
Mr. Kennedy said he has been traveling and had not seen the video or read Mrs. Clinton’s comments, but said his support of Mrs. Clinton has not wavered.

Len & CW: Good points--both of you!
I have followed this primary closely and have become increasingly disturbed by the "thuggery" of Senator Obama's campaign and the viciousness of many of his supporters.
The caucuses here in Texas were a good example of both elements. People were bullied, lied to, turned away--you name it--it happened.

After spending most of the afternoon looking up info on the Clinton/Obama race, I think Senator Obama is a dead fish and needs to go back to Chicago.
If all already cast votes are counted, she is ahead. And if one would count all the superdelegates that moved to Obama's side after his campaign pledged $20 million to help them get elected, that is the majority of the SDs. He is buying the election, folks. There is no other way for him to win.
He has not told truth about his background, his professional and political life or his policies for tomorrow. He talks bigs but does little.

Brent- Dont you hate it when you take a bad check to the bank.
Posted by: CW | May 23, 2008 9:12:56 PM
Get a grip, people, and stop trying to slander Senator Clinton. The only reason she brought it up was to reference the date of Bobby Kennedy's primary contest, which had run into June. Bobby Kennedy was obviously campaigning when he was assassinated and that was in JUNE.
The only reason this is even an issue is becasue the Obama campaign egged on the media with their first statement they issued about it saying the following:
"Sen. Clinton's statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.
Bobby Kennedy JR has already denounced what the Obama campaign has done and said he knows Senator Clinton did not mean anything other than the date when she referenced it.
This is clearly another smear campaign being run by Obama & friends to take away from the fact that she wiped the floor with him in WV & Kentucky and will do so in Puerto Rico and that she leads him in the important swing states in the polls for the general election, while Obama loses to McCain in those same states. He's desperate and scared. If he and his campaign really thought he could win this nomination, he wouldn't have said a word about this or started yet another smear campaign.
Posted by: Howdy Doody | May 23, 2008 9:11:41 PM
If Hillary ran the country like she ran her campaign, you would be nostalgic for the Bush years.
It reminds me of the movie Titanic, maiden voyage, unsinkable, no plan for disaster, ignoring obstacles, tragic ending...shocked survivors
But not to worry she will be back on the senate floor soon, plotting and planning her next move.

SadStateOfAffairs,
You are exactly right.
Tavis Smiley, the famed black author, commentator and PBS show host, invited Obama to the "State of the Black Union" he would host in New Orleans (on Saturday, February 23, 2008).
But Obama declined and continued to campaign in Texas for the March 4 primary. Obama offered to send his wife, Michelle, but Smiley said he wanted only candidates.
Smiley voiced his complaints, saying that Obama had not paid enough attention to the concerns of black Americans.
Then Smiley was "hammered" and "barbequed" by the Black community. He was getting death threats! "There's all this talk of 'hater,' 'sellout' and 'traitor,' ...They are harassing my mama, harassing my brother."
Smiley was also forced to leave the popular "Tom Joyner Morning Show" where he had been a regular commentator on issues important to black causes.
Hillary Clinton was the only one of the four major party candidates to attend. John McCain and Mike Huckabee also declined.
Excerpts of her speech: "The state of the union is not strong until the State of the Black Union is strong." "The plight of African-Americans is the plight of all Americans."
While watching her on C-Span, which broadcast the entire event live, I was asking myself, "If she loses Texas OR Ohio, she's dead fish. All the pundits pretty much have predicted her death because they don't think she can win both. As much as she thinks black causes are important to her, she will not be getting any black vote! She's here; Obama is not. But Blacks will vote for him and NOT for her!!!"
Then she won both states (with margin of over 100,000 votes in the Texas primary). My admiration for the steel-boned lady only grew stronger.
She might be awkward at times, as Bill Clinton often points out. She could be shy and secretive. But she IS a Scorpio, as was Teddy Roosevelt (their birthdays one day apart, both in October).
Three children of RFK (who was also a scorpio)--Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Kerry Kennedy--wrote in the L.A. Times (January 29, 2008) their endorsement, titled "Kennedys for Clinton"
"Like our father, Hillary has devoted her life to embracing and including those on the bottom rung of society's ladder -- giving voice to the alienated and disenfranchised and working to alleviate poverty and injustice, while urging that we cannot advance ourselves as a nation by leaving our poorer brothers and sisters behind."
No matter who says what about Hillary, I KNOW she's the best person to lead America. Even when there are ONLY TWO people left in this ENTIRE world that still have faith in Hillary Rodham Clinton, I know one of them IS Hillary. The other person is ME. You can take that to the bank.
Posted by: Brent | May 23, 2008 8:43:15 PM
everytime I, an african american clinton supporter let my mind wander and think about maybe, just maybe i will decide to give obama a try. something new and foolish comes from his people. everytime he opens his mouth without a prepared speech, he proves he is not ready. and everytime his handlers get a chance to, they show they are not really a new kind of politics at all. just a dirty, sneaker, and slicker
Posted by: worldcitizen | May 23, 2008 8:36:09 PM
her comments were despicable. wishful thinking out loud on her part. she is a liar and a disgrace. she should resign the campaign now, give up her senate seat and crawl back into the hole from where she oozed out.
Posted by: brad coggins | May 23, 2008 8:26:03 PM
Hillary is used to this sort of strategy.
She waited before entering the race for the U.S Senate, formally announcing in December 1999. She waited to see if another well known political figure would run for the senate. If he had run he would have won the seat easily. Unfortunately he died in a plane crash off cape cod in July of that same year.
Hillary is used to waiting for things to happen.
Posted by: Richard | May 23, 2008 8:21:48 PM
Boy this got spun far out of proportion.
If Obama would of said the same thing he would of been a hero.
Posted by: seah | May 23, 2008 8:16:00 PM
No matter the intent, and no matter how delicately she puts it, invoking the assassination of RFK during a political campaign is unnecessary and reckless. She has plenty of other examples of long-fought primaries to choose from.
Posted by: Angelina | May 23, 2008 8:06:34 PM
LindaJ - She probabaly didnt mean anything by it and was referring to past nominations. What was wrong was using that as an example and sying it out loud. You never know who might take a statement like that and think "good idea". There are some real crack pots out there. When running for the highest position in the country, one should be more resposible than that. We all know that it was just an unthought statement and I know the media will spin in out of control as they have done with Clinton, Obama and McCain on really silly points. However it is still something that should have never been said especailly with all the racist nuts listening. Thats what she should apologize for.

"What is it that makes so many people want to believe something so obviously contrived, rather than what is obviously the truth."
That's the point, Linda. They don't believe it. They use it. The tactics of intimidation are the soul of Obama's campaign where he is one thing on stage but his supporters are another behind the stage. It is thuggery. This is what the Obama campaign is about. Pelosi learned by watching the Republicans to accept this and the style was perfected on the streets of Chicago.
The Democrats won't just lose in November. Having turned a Presidential election into a Lakers game instead of a political process, they deserve to lose.
Better McCain than Obama. If we don't say No to Thugs now, in four years, this style of campaigning will be the normal way to do it. After that, you can watch this country change in ways you really don't want to believe in but won't be able to escape.
Posted by: len | May 23, 2008 8:01:50 PM
Actually whatever Ms, Clinton's motivation for the remarks, it demonstrates really poor foresight as to the enormous negative reaction that such comments would have against her. If she said them know the reaction, the she is a narcissistic maniac

barbara chavez,
The only "clear and present danger" is provoked by the MSM sensationalism on the point. If MSM really believed this was a provocative statement, then why would they ever repeat it over and over?? Their aim is obvious. They are tired and want this to be over. They don't want to have all the votes count. They did exactly the same thing with the recount and Gore. They want to move on and if making a spectacle of an innocent comment can do it, MSM will do it.

More evidence that our country has become quite insane. Here we our in a crucial moment in the world's history, with environmental and energy problems worsensing, and we're clawing at each other.
I don't believe in a christian raprure to bale us out, but maybe the conscious computers will take over and save us from ourselves.
Posted by: Doug Macary | May 23, 2008 7:56:15 PM
The analogy here is ridiculous.
Anyone with an ounce of sense can clearly see Senator Clinton was merely referencing campaigns lasting into June. Her emphasis was not on the assassination of Kennedy. The media and Senator Obama gave it that spin for obvious reasons.
What is it that makes so many people want to believe something so obviously contrived, rather than what is obviously the truth.
Posted by: LindaJ | May 23, 2008 7:55:00 PM
Not only did Senator's Clinton's comments pose a clear and present danger to Senator Obama - but also to his wife and children who travel with the Senator. Additionally, she has placed the secret service agents assigned to protect Senator Obama in grave danger as well.
Therefore, right now, I plead the blood of Jesus over the life of Senator Obama and all those around him. I pray divine protection for his life, his family and to the men and women who support him and protect him. God Bless You.

"We traditionally have gone longer than you’ve seen in the last couple of cycles. And there isn’t any problem in closing ranks and unifying.."
Except this time Obama's supporters are insisting this must not happen. They believe in their predestination arguments. It's the sort of irrationality one finds in many populist campaigns.
I believe in you, Senator Clinton, but I don't believe in the Party. The nutjobs are taking over and making any centrist run to the right to keep them away from the Oval Office. What references to the past ignore is this really is a new day in politics and because of the web, it is possible to recruit legions of badly informed and over stimulated people and set them loose like the dogs in Animal Farm on anyone sane enough and disciplined enough to actually be President.
The unifying theme is lost. There is no party to come back to. Just mobs.
Sad but so. So far, Obama is starting his campaign against McCain with the same strategy of saying different things to different people on different occasions and just enough that if any supporter picks it up, his attack dog surrogates can maul them in the press. The press is feeding on this like fishfood in bowl.
This is classic negative sales and it worked on you. It might work on McCain but at the end, we don't get a leader for this century: we get an empty suit and his puppet masters running the country.
Time to find out what the Republicans have to offer.

"I mean, who 'played the race card' on President Clinton?" Clyburn said, referring to comments made in an interview Clinton gave to WHYY-FM in Philadelphia and later denied making. "What does he mean by that unless he is trying to send some kind of signal on race?”
The above was what happened in April, now the referance to RFK by Senator H. Clinton. Isn't a pattern? It is not the First time she refered to RFK but she lied by invoking EMK.
Democratic Superdeligates to endorse the Winner Sen. Obama in droves and bring this distruction of the Democratic Party to an end. NOW.

Threatening to launch nukes on Iran and obliterate them.
Contending that hard-working americans are white americans.
Advising that anything can happen late in a presidential race, including assasination of the front runner.
These are hints at what a Clinton Presidency could be like. Even in a great democracy, power corrupts, or some of the meanest rise to the top.

Hillary is a very calculating politician who knows exactly what she is saying. She did not 'misspeak' about the Bosnia incident...she lied; over and over again during the campain about this. She did not misspeak today seeding the idea in every crackpot's head about assasinating her rival. Her appology was not an apology at all; only mentioning the Kennedy family for 'insensitive' remarks. It is to Barack Obama that she should be asking for forgiveness. She didn't mention him.
She is a ruthless, vindictive person that should not even hold public office.

I think that discussions of assasinations of leaders and invoking Hitler should NEVER be in political statements raised by candidates.
The candidates just should NOT go there.

Im almost sure it was just a bad comment and she didnt mean any thing by it. She is running for the Dem nomination and should be more careful about using those kind of examples when giving reasons to stay in though. What I do not understand is some of the Clinton supporters wont even admit it was a bad thing to say. No matter what she does some of them just seem blind to it. Her name could be Hillary Manson
the way some of her supporters are attached to her no matter what she does.
Its almost scary. Obama has slipped and made a statement that came out wrong and Obama himself and most of his supporters admitted it was a bad statement regardless of what he meant to say and we moved on. Today Hillary aplogized, but didnt aplogize for even using such a sad example, but just aplogized if any one and most of all the Kennedy family took offense. It wasnt the offending she should aplogize for but the using that knd of example to stay in the race. She is desperate and tired my friends. I gave her the my understanding because this is a free country and she should be able to run as long as she wants. But now, not only does she look like she is trying to win underhanded but with statements like that, are hurting the whole Dem. party. I think its time for the SDs to step in and put an end to this for everyones good. If they do she will probably not reconize their decision either. Its a shame I really use to like her. Obama 08

there in the past few days have been quite a few commenters on these blogs making comments about obama and assassinating him. and they were getting more frequent ...and I commented on it like 5 times today ...
I had gotten nervous because it was sudddenly so frequent...and then Hillary made this reference...
Just freaked me out...and again
sorry for jumping on you on your joke that I misunderstood.

She clearly does not belong on the national political stage.

Hillary is getting better and better at self inflicted wounds.
When the truth about her campaigns race baiting in WVA and KY start to circulate it will only add to this firestorm.
If she thinks she will be VP now shes nuttier than a squirrel turd.

Hillary's comments were horrendous, and her apology did not even address the fact that Senator Obama and his supporters have reason to be offended by her clear reference to the threat of assassination faced by leaders who are change-agents.
Hillabeans is no RFK nor JFK. But there are plenty of nuts out there who might target Senator Obama, and statements like hers, the recent Huckabee gaffe and the newspaper cover would only feed such deranged minds. We have reason to be vigilant about such things and to quickly point out these kind of inflammatory statements.
Should such a tragedy strike between no and the convention, I am sure a "Draft Hillary" or (better yet) "Draft John Edwards" movement would swing into place immediately. But raising that spectre as a justification for staying in the race is just WRONG!!!
Obama 2008 -- Yes, WE CAN!!!

Okay Imagine the tables were turned and Barack said he was staying in arace because "Bill clinton wasn't confirmed until June and we know RFK was assasinated in June"
Imagine Barack saying that about Hillary...
Now can Hillary supporters who are trying to say this was simply a historical reference... okay there are lots of references she could have used is she that dumb that she would reference a situation where a candidate was assasinated as to the example of why she was staying in.
Stupid or downright disgusting...I would like to just think stupid but at this point it's getting hard to do.

Ok, here we go again.... Just as Huck didn't mean anything personal against Obama, just told a bad joke (true, it was off the cuff and not thought out and was bad and not funny, which by the way he admitted both publically and privately to Obama). Now Hillary mentioned the assasination of Bobby Kennedy and some are actually implying she is thinking/hoping for something of the nature to happen to Obama! This way of thinking is just ridiculous and is very divisive for this country and has got to stop. Neither comment was meant to offend or wish harm for Obama. I think that people really know that but in the heat of the "battle" for the presidency it seems anything is fair game!!!

Senator Obama started out in politics with the terrorist Bill Ayers sponsoring his coming out party. Then most of his campaign funds for senate was through the criminal Tony Rezko. And he sat in the racist, hate-mongering Trinity Church for 20 years agreeing to the teachings. And now he has the audicity to say he cares about all Americans and will bring people together. This man is incompetence in all area except bogus promises and big talk.
Clinton or McCain in the White House, not the liar Obama.

Simple and factually correct words can be interpreted in the most negative way to serve the purpose of the listeners. I wonder who is behind the scene pushing the story by over analyzing it.
This reminds me of the events before SC primary, when the OBama camp tried their best the feed the media and press people to come out suggesting Bill's fairy tale comments and Hillary's LBJ and MLK comments are racial baits and racist.
Who is behind this pushing? Obama camp doing it again?
Posted by: amy | May 23, 2008 6:59:58 PM
Are you Obama people old enough to remember the RFK campaign? From your remarks, didn't think so. To Chuck 6:34-Are you going to mention the men from Obama's church who were murdered? Didn't think so.

This is getting absurd. We won't have any good people left running for office if everything they say is analyzed and criticized and distorted. Why has this election become so "politically correct" that it makes running for the presidency about as much fun as standing before a "firing squad". Cut these politicians some slack.

People must be crazy or stupid or hateful to think what Hillary said indicated she wanted to have Obama assassinated. What she meant was just there were a lot of examples in history that the primary process could last at least into June. Nothing more, nothing less.

Difference between HRC and BHO:
We who support HRC do not call you BHO supporters names. We make rational argument for our case, along with facts and historical references.
The only up side of this sad fact is that it helps us understand what kind of people Obama has been deceiving in the past year to support him.

White 66 year male from SC & FL. Have voted for Bush 1, Clinton Twice, Bush 2 once. 100% behind Obama, unless Hillary is VP. Then I vote McCain PERIOD.

Poor fragile Obama...he thinks people are picking on him again.
Under his rule there will be certain words we cannot say about him, in this country.
No SUV's, no favorite foods, no control of our thermostats. He's beginning to sound like a dictator.
Go Hillary or McCain 08

Real reason for the reference by Hillary is pure spite. In a week when Teddy finds out he has brain cancer, she raises his brother's murder as a reason for "hope" for her. There is no other construction. This woman is really sick. Glad we found out before we made her president.
Posted by: Mike | May 23, 2008 6:40:53 PM
Cold, irresponsible!!! Even if you're thinking of this as an option to get you what you want shouldn't you keep it to yourself?
Is everything just politics to the Clintons?
The Kennedy's have just discovered that Ted has brain cancer this week... how dare she speak as if the Robert Kennedy assassination gives her hope to hang on. She is sooooo SICK.

barack hussien obama has no chance of ever being president so he just depart from the race in a dignified manner. The longer he stays in the more he destroys the democratic party.

Senator Clinton’s comments today will have a negative effect on her campaign and attempt to maintain momentum to make her case at the DNC. However, since the discussion centers around presidential security or assassinations (as stated here) this should remind the voters of the complex and some would say bizarre background involving both Senators Clinton and Obama.
This of course would be Greg Craig. Formally known as Gregory B. Craig, Mr. Craig is an attorney for the powerhouse law firm of Williams & Connolly, LLP, and his list of clients includes John Hinckley, Jr., the would be assassin of President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Craig was instrumental in the successful insanity defense of President Reagan’s would be assassin, Mr. Hinckley, and retains this defense as an example of his criminal litigation as part of his CV or as stated in the Williams & Connolly web page, “In 1981 to 1982, working with Vince Fuller, Mr. Craig represented John Hinckley who was charged with the attempted assassination of President Reagan.”
Greg Craig also served as Director of Policy Planning and (1997-1998) under Madeline Albright in the Clinton Administration. In 1998 President William Jefferson Clinton appointed Mr. Hinckley’s former defense attorney as Assistant to the President and Special Counsel in his defense against impeachment. Currently, the former defense attorney to would be presidential assassin, John Hinckley, Greg Craig is a allegedly a non-staff member of the Obama campaign in the roll of Senior Advisor on National Security Matters. Mr. Hinckley’s former attorney is also the author of the “Obama Foreign Policy Memo” of March 11, 2008.

Hillary is a kind, caring, and thoughtful woman. It's obvious from her remarks and campaigning style that she will be a uniter, someone who truly seeks to uphold the values of all Americans.
Admit it, I had you going... :)
She's worthless. A vote for her is foolish and something only an ignorant lemming would do. No offense to lemmings.

My God!!!!!
This is a christian nation? This is as disgusting as anything I have ever heard in my life. This lady wants the Presidency so bad she is wishing death to her opponents and some of you have the gauld to defend her. You all to are as dispicable as she is. If some one have to be president so bad I will be afraid of what they may do once they get the job. There are no limits to the Clintons moraless disgusting hnger for power is there?

Is no one not noticing the gross inaccuracy in her statement?
Her husband effectively won the Democratic nomination in April 1992, when he won the New York primary. What is she talking about!?

This is NOT leadership material. Her remarks are clearly intended to intimidate Sen. Obama, and she needs to be taken out of the campaign, before she acts out on her threat.

The more I read some of these post, the more and more I realize how many stupid people we have in this country. When are you HRC supporters going to wake up! How many people who have had delaings with the Clinton turn up DEAD? How many people who have had relationsh
