Bill Clinton Vs. 'Them'
May 27, 2008 10:20 AM
He went on a tear over the weekend, the 42nd president of these United States.
In Fort Thompson, SD, former President Bill Clinton said his wife "will win the general election if you nominate her," per ABC News' Sarah Amos. "They're just trying to make sure you don't."
The evil THEY are also pushing superdelegates to decide. And THEY don't want you to know that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, is polling stronger against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., than Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, in some polls in some key states.
"I cant believe it. It is just frantic the way they are trying to push and pressure and bully all these superdelegates to come out," Bill Clinton said. "'Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness, we have to cover this up.'"
"We have to cover this up"?
Oh my goodness indeed.
Bill Clinton said that "she will win the general election if you nominate her. They're just trying to make sure you don't."
He also said that if South Dakotans for vote his wife, 'and she does well in Montana and she does well in Puerto Rico, when this is over she will be ahead in the popular vote. And they're trying to get her to cry uncle before the Democratic Party has to decide what to do in Florida and Michigan…"
So today's quiz question: Who is "they"?
A) Democratic Party leaders
B) The media
C) The Obama campaign
D) Voters
E) A and B
F) A, B and C
G) "THEM," the horror horde of giant crawl-and-crush atomic ants from the 1954 film
- jpt
UPDATE: The answer, per a spokesman for former President Clinton, is "B" -- "pundits and the media." Not the giant atomic ants, sorry.

Oh, Tom! Poor, worried, naive Tom. As it now stands, you have to include the Florida and Michigan totals for Clinton to have the popular vote, HOWEVER, if she is able to win Puerto Rico by 20 points, then one has to only include Florida for the numbers to hold (2 million voters there are hard to ignore.) Furthermore, if she wins by 28 points or more, which it looks like she very well may do, then she will be the leader of the popular vote in all counts. Of course, Obama and his supporters would very much like this race to be over before then, seeing as it would undermine his candidacy for the year 2000 to repeat itself in this 2008 primary.
Poor, worried, naive Tom.

Vicki the reason you don't see a popular vote poll with Hillary leading is because it currently doesn't exist. It only exists in the world of Hillary fuzzy math. The only way Hillary leads in the popular vote is if you count Florida and Michigan. Two states where she gives Obama no votes and takes all of hers. Considering Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan that's a pretty ridiculous way to claim a popular vote lead.

He speaks the truth whether you and your cohorts, who are doing the covering up, agree or not.
When there's a popular poll out showing Hillary leading, it's ignored and the MSM uses some obscure poll that instead shows Mr. Hope leading. When was the last time you saw an electoral map on any news network? The reason we don't see the electoral maps is because they show HILLARY winning the General Election by a HUGE electoral margin and OBAMA LOSING by HUGE electoral LOSSES against McCain.
If Hillary is showing good numbers in polls, they're ignored. Only Mr. Hope positive numbers are talked about.
We aren't stupid. We know what you're doing and that's why you had to be so sarcastic/snarky in this post. You KNOW what Bill Clinton said is TRUE.

It is pretty clear that the Democratic leadership and the Obama campaign are doing everything they can to destroy Hillary. They do not care that she can win the general election and Obama cannot. Their reason. Hillary is not really a Democrat. No, really! When Bill was president he was a centrist, which meant two things. He was hated by the left wing of the Democratic party and he was hated by the right wing of the Republican party. That is, he was hated by everyone who makes a living off of the left/right political divide. People in the middle -- that is, most people -- loved Bill.
So, Hillary is right there in the middle, and is pretty much hated by the left because they see her as (1) someone they cannot control, and (2) someone who is not going to kowtow to the lions of the left. (Pelosi, Dean, ......)
Obama? Right there on the left. A Washington outsider who is going to be led by the nose by the entrenched left wing interests.
Oh yes, the press. The press has always loved beating up the Clintons and always will. It is part of their genetic code.

While the 2000 Election was stolen; this election is far worse.
While e for Hillary I am mad as hell at my Democratic Party.
When I sell a co-op my customer is scrutinized to the moon and back.
This thing with Obama should have never ever gotten this far –
He was not qualified to run, and his associations and affiliations
Can not be revered. IT should have never gotten this far.
He gained momentum in the early stages while he was hiding who he really is.
He scares me to death.
The Democratic Party is to blame for the silence; for not having scrutinized him first and foremost; If you have to go through a check point to live in a Co-op surly one should have to go through a bigger check point to live in the White House.

"In hindsight the DNC definately should have just cut the Florida and Michigan delegates by 50% instead of stripping them totally."
Well, what THEY (AS-IN THE CLINTONS) did was they had their personal connection on the rules committee vote to change the rules to fully strip all the delegates. This is what is so crazy. The rule WAS seat on 50% of the delegates, that is what the DNC rule was. It was Clinton's that voted in the DNC to overturn that rule and to fully strip all of the delegates, so this whole mess was created by Clinton in the first place!!!

In hindsight the DNC definately should have just cut the Florida and Michigan delegates by 50% instead of stripping them totally. Punish the states not the citizens who did nothing but exercise their right to vote.

*******
Which is most likely what they will do on Sat. I think that is fair and I am from MI.
But HRC is not going to like it. It wont give her the argument she needs.

len,
I did not vote for the wrong candidate, I strongly support my candidate. Obama WON more states than HRC. Obama is ahead in pledged delegates. Obama is ahead in the popular vote.
How do you deny all those voters. Your attitude simply says "You were wrong". Period.
Your agrument is so hypocritical, it makes me wonder if you have really thought this through.
You claim that your voice needs to be heard, but at the cost of anothers.
How does this make any sense to you?

No Tom, primary rules that result in nominating a candidate who doesn't have the electoral math behind them should be changed because to keep nominating the losers is the definition of insane: to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
At least if Senator Clinton doesn't get the nomination, her supporters can begin to get over it. Obama supporters have another six months to build up their hopes and then be crushed.
Pobrecitos!

Bill Clinton is correct about the polling. When head-to-head State polls are coverted to Electoral College Votes, our tracking of the 2008 Race reveals an awesome and growing lead for Hillary. 270 EC Votes are needed to win in November. Today Obama has 261 while Clinton has 301. Our website chart compiles the results of 5 ECV models.

I really don't think primary rules should be changed just because Hillary lost.
Posted by: Tom | May 27, 2008 1:15:38 PM
@jmc:
I say "You voted for the wrong candidate but people do that. Now those of you who voted for Hillary by a majority in your State only to have your DNC delegates deny your vote should find another candidate to support in your local elections, one that respects your decisions instead of overruling them for their own campaigns."
Not a hard case to make.

obama has more or the average voters finding out who he is, what he stands for, and seeing how weak he is and is going to be. obama has more people going against him. that he has pulling for him.
by the time of the general
you will hear the words around more and more-high tech lynching.
because that will be all the black people will have to say.

For once, Nat, you're right. The Democratic Party needs to think about why nominating the losing candidate despite the electoral math is always a losing strategy and hope that it can reform itself before 2012.
I'm tired of Republicans in the WH but I can live with it for four more years. In fact, it will be a good thing for them to have to clean up their own mess, for Clinton to continue to serve well in the Senate, and for Illinois to ask itself why it voted for a man who lied about when he would run and then lost.
It's all good when you stop and think about it.

nat turner,
attacking me will not get obama elected president.
and i see who you are quoting in your comments.
and i would not be suprised if obama is not repeating bill clinton also.
obama will not win the election.
you can spell his name out or put it in morse code, or braile, he will not win.
Posted by: worldcitizen | May 27, 2008 1:11:18 PM
len,
What about all the people who voted FOR Obama? What do you say to them?
"We know he won by every measure, but too bad, we know better"?
Where do you think HIS supports would go?
