Bill Clinton's Message to Rural America
May 10, 2008 2:43 PM
As Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., avoids any real campaigning in West Virginia, the former president of the United States is out there ginning up resentments.
Bill Clinton has the right to say whatever he wants, of course. But he's a smart man. Brilliant, even.
He can do the math. He must know that it's quite improbable that his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., will be the Democratic presidential nominee.
So what purpose does it serve for him to barnstorm a state like West Virginia and tell rural voters that Obama and his elitist political/media cabal allies are mocking Appalachia?
He's using the kind of language Democrats typically use against Republicans -- as in, stuff you say when you don't want voters to vote for the other guy under any circumstance.
This is tough stuff to walk back from.
Per ABC News' Sarah Amos, this is what the 42nd president of the United States said Friday in Ripley, W.Va.:
"Hillary is in this race because of people like you and places like this and no matter what they say," Clinton said. "And no matter how much fun they make of your support of her and the fact that working people all over America have stuck with her, she thinks you're as smart as they are. She thinks you've got as much right to have your say as anybody else. And, you know, they make a lot of fun of me because I like to campaign in places like this, they say I have been exiled to rural America, as if that was a problem. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be here than listening to that stuff I have to hear on television, I'd rather be with you. There is a simple reason: You need a president a lot more than those people telling you not to vote for her."
In Madison, W.Va.:
"It is very interesting, from the very beginning of this race there has been a sharp divide in the vote -- the people who need a president, who need to turn the economy around, who need to restore the middle class, who need to give poor people a chance to work their way into the middle class, who need to give our children a better future, who need to restore our standing in the world and the war in Iraq, but do it in a way that rebuilds our military and stands up for America's security and standing around the world -- they have been for her from the get-go."
And on and on... Ginning up the resentments and the class divide (and maybe other divisions). ... His message to these voters: Obama and the media are laughing at you and think you're stupid!!!
Obama has a clear problem with white working class voters. This kind of rhetoric exacerbates it. Clinton knows that -- he's trying to drive up turnout to maximize his wife's popular vote argument to superdelegates. He has every right to do so -- the race is not over, no nominee exists yet.
But this is what keeps Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi up at night.

Next time please submit your proof. Until you can it will stand that she said, "For the first time in my adult life, I am REALLY proud.
No wait. That's even better come to think of it. If Michelle says she's proud there's nothing more to really say. Therefore, if she says it once, twice or three times she says she's proud.
If you tell your child you are proud of them, and then you say I'm really proud it just means you are already proud now I'm just more proud than I was before.
Thanks.

Ginger says
"As for Michelle Obama, she said, "I am really proud. Meaning she was proud before but nows she's REALLY proud. And she's right. Some of you are turning a compliment into an evil, which is what the media wants.
Like Michelle for the first time in my adult life I feel REALLY proud of this country."
Sorry ginger, no dice.
Michelle said that "proud of my country" line several times.
The 1st time it was caught on video, the line did NOT contain that "really".
It was "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country".
In the later iterations, it was obvious she was tweaking the statement. She knew it was a mistake, but she can't help it. it's how she really feels. Ask Rev Wright.

Here are some figures you might be interested in. Since the Clintons are entitled to Secret Services protection for life There mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month.but an extra residence had to be built with the acreage to house the SS agents. They (Clintons) only charge the Fed. Gov. $10,000 monthly rent for use of extra residence, equal to their mortgage. This means that we, the taxpayers are paying the Clinton's salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff and this is perfectly legal.

The Clintons are doing what they can to make sure that Obama has an even harder road to November. And are trying there best to make sure he's loses so she can run again in 2012.
I dont blame her I guess. She must be embarrassed at how mismanaged her campaign has been. She knows that she has lost this nomination due to her poor planning and lack of knowledge regarding her parties rules. Her constant changing of strategy and persona should have showed allot of people she wasn't as ready as she thought to be this countries 1st woman president.
I personally think they are damaging there legacy and her future in politics. Even if she does run in 2012. She will get nowhere if she doesn't gain the support of black voters. Her sending her attack dog Bill to go out and tell the white people of America, its us against them will only hurt her in the future.
But oh well. hopefully all Dem voters will unite so that we can try to get this country back on track, but as these elections have shown. RACE is still an ugly issue in America. For a lot of voters Race trumps any real issues this country is facing. I cringe at the thought of another 4 years under the republicans.

Obama is a fraud, and his wife needs therapy, she has an inferiority complex. They both are racists. What more do we need to know? We don't have time to find out right now. NOBAMA 08

Mrs. Clinton will not quit until she has destroyed Obama's chances this November. Watch as she now stirs the racist pot, in W. Virginia and elsewhere, repeating that it is impossible for a black man to win white Americans' votes. Instead of appealing to the country's better angels and working for the historical importance for us as a nation to turn the page toward a more perfect union, Hillary is demonizing the entire nation and smearing all of us, especially white Americans, by saying that white Americans will not vote for a black candidate. This is a blatant lie, as proven in Obama's victories in Iowa, Wisconsin, and all across the nation. It is way beyond time for the Democratic Party elders to STOP this madness before she destroys the party, the republic and all our best hopes for the future. No deluded, vicious, power-crazed politician should be given a free pass, even if her name is Clinton and she believes she is entitled to dynastic keys to the White House.

Do you guys really think that a guy with such a pedigree does not know the number of states that are in the US.
This is the bases for his thoughts...
There are 50 STATES in the US....
Six US TERRITORIES.
1. Puerto Rico
2. Virgin Islands
3. American Samoa
4. Guam
5. Northern Mariana Islands
6. Minor Outlying Islands (Wake Island and Johnston Island)
And one US-Administered REGION:
1. Guantanamo Bay
If you do the maths, the US A president is in charge of these 57 states, territories or regions...you know this from civil classes and before one becomes a USA constitutional lawyer or in charge of Harvard Law review, he will know this and more..

Even if they are campaigning for a shot in 2012, do you think people will forget the dirty campaign tactics from this year?
I know for me it won't matter what year she tries to get elected in, she lost my vote a long time ago.
There are a lot of other just as qualified, if not more qualified, women that could run for President without bringing all the old baggage the Clintons have with them.

Easy to fix, Obama did not call you poor, uneducated, ignorant, blue collar, lower class, racist, etc. If you had been listening, Hillary and the media categorized you all like that. She has said on many occasions that Obama could not get the white, uneducated, blue collar vote. So do not flip the script and blame Obama.

THE CLINTON'S ARE DOING EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO SABATOGE OBAMA AND THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. THEIR TRUE COLORS ARE NOW COMING OUT AND THEY ARE BEGINNING TO MAKE THE BUSH FAMILY LOOK LIKE NICE, CARING PEOPLE. SHAME ON THE CLINTON'S. BILL RUINED AL GORE'S CHANCES WITH HIS LEWINSKY AFFAIR AND THEY ARE NOW TRYING TO RUIN BARACK'S. THEY ARE RUTHLESS, HATEFUL, DEVISIVE PEOPLE. WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS ALLOWING THE CLINTON'S TO RUIN THE PARTY, WHICH IS JUST WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN THIS UGLY PROCESS. I STARTED OUT AS A BIG HILLARY SUPPORTER BUT THE MEANER SHE GOT, THAT NASTIER BILL BECAME, THE MORE LIES THEY TOLD, THE MORE DEVISIVE THEY TRIED TO MAKE THE COUNTRY, THE MORE I KNEW I COULD NOT SUPPORT THEM. I HOPE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY OPENS UP THEIR EYES TO THIS HATEFUL FAMILY.

Bill Clinton is still on the "people like us" tour. He should skip the wink-wink comments and print up the "vote white" bumper stickers already.
Wouldn't it be funny, if people in November were found to be sicker of this kind of do-nothing politics than they are prejudiced?

Personal ambition is a bad thing? Again... I dont get it.
And if you achieve your ambitions while making a positive contribution, is that a bad thing?
If you think having personal ambitions, particulary, personal ambitions that include running for President, perhaps we should become a monarchy?

bill clinton is the worse speaker of the democrats party .
the only reason he made it has president
is because of the black vote.
thats why he is so anry because he can't get the black votes for his wife
thats why he and hillary dont like the
bblacks this time around because they
are voting for obama. and the clintons
are very upset about it but thats there
bad luck. and bill he is bleep speaker

Lets drop the education / elitist bit as that is just an unnecessary comment because no comment or indirect reference to that end was made by me.
My point as stated was that his motive was personal ambition.
I do not believe his motives are altruistic and that his ambition is/was based on a desire to serve / help / improve his country.

I am not here to be contentious but if you look Dreams of my father was published the year he ran for his first office and audacity of hope before he ran for President. His impetus for his senate bid was he convention speech.
He has had a very calculated methodical plan from the beginning.

Obama has been running for President all of his life. Starting with President of the Harvard Law Review. Every job, publication etc was a part of it. I rarely use anyones personal biography as a source when they are trying to convince you of their argument.
Do a time line and see for yourself.
He has never been serious about any office he has held.
He went into politics as soon as he legally could at 35.
Started in the legislature in 1997.
Announced a House of Reps bid in 2000.(which he lost)
Announced a Senate bid in 2003 which he won the following year 2004.
Sworn in to the senate in 2005.
Announce Predidential bid in 2007.
As opposed to serving the people his career has been stepping stones. Taking a year out of each elected term from "serving the people" to run for his next step.
This is something that irks me greatly is does not seem it was ever about serving the people more like personal ambition.

Have you ever attended a caucus? All I get from you is non-evidence. Your conclusions are based on allegations you can neither substantiate nor rationalise.
You dont have to vote for BO. You have the democratic right to vote for whomever you choose.
I do take issue with your reasoning tho, if that reasoning is not based on facts or truths.
It simply means you are deluded.
But you also have a right to be deluded. Thats how democracy works.
However, if you're going to perpetuate your delusions in a public forum, then I am going to exercise my democratic right to point out your delusions as delusions, your 'facts' as untruthful etc etc.
It goes against my nature to allow lies and half-truths to perpetuate themselves. It breeds ignorance fear and the kind of government that exists in America today.

If BO is getting 90% of the black vote, its because of Bill Clinton. Before Bill Clinton's statements re Jesse Jackson in S Carolina, Hillary Clinton was LEADING amongst black voters.
It was bcos of the race baiting of the Clintons that black voters (a very important Democratic demographic) that black voters, insulted and disgusted, switched allegiance.
Do you understand what 'pandering' is? Pandering is lying to someone deliberately to get their vote or to persuade them to your way of thinking.
'Gas tax holiday'? That was pandering.
I challenge you to find me an instance where Barack Obama has gone to to black voters and promised them any kind of special treatment or perks if they vote for him.
I further challenge you to find me a statement from BO or any of his surrogates that play the race card, asking blacks to vote for him BECAUSE HE IS BLACK.
Run now. You only have until November to find the evidence.
May I suggest www.dictionary.com and 'google' as your first reference tools.

black votes(90%, and bullies at caucuses, easy wins for a man who has both.

I've read some of these comments and Im appalled at how uninformed some people are.
They call you 'low information voters' for a reason. You have no clue.
But stay stupid. Stay scared. And one day when your children's asses are in hock to China, you explain to them why. Bcos YOU voted for John McCain, war, NAFTA, bomb Iran and a continuation of the current Republican/Clinton economic and foreign policies.
Posted by: Gemma | May 12, 2008 6:31:11 AM
Knowledgeforreal you said:
They know full well that Obama has a lead in delegates for 2 reasons: (1) excluding MI & FL; (2) Black voting block of 88% to 92% in southern states (LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC, VA, DC, MD)
.............
Substantiate.

nteresting to read about the Democrats who will vote for McCain if Obama is nominated. I'm a Republican--er, I was a Republican--who re-registered this year both out of disgust for the Republicans (it's been building for a long time) and in order to cast a vote for Obama in our primary.
Clinton will do whatever it takes to get elected, as she is now demonstrating. Do you really think she is a working class person? Do you know anything about her background or Obama's? I suggest you at least read Obama's book Dreams From My Father, which was written well before he decided to run for the presidency. He hardly has an elitist background.
Hello Curt :)
You give good advice. Sadly some here (those who use the flimsiest, often spurious, MOST OFTEN unsubstantiated, hyped-up, conflated reasons) will suffer severe head explosions if they were to come out of denial.
It is far easier to claim to 'love America' then act against America's interest in threatening to vote for McCain.
It is far easier to make wearing a flag pin as the definitive in patriotism.
It is far easier to employ guilt by association.
It is far easier to hate. Its irrational. Its emotional. Its visceral. Its 'us' vs 'them'.
Its the only language some understand.
Obama's message of a common purpose, a common goal, DESPITE our ideological, social and political differences, is just too much for some people (who's self esteem depends on looking down at others, be it based on race, religion or gender or sexual orientation).
Too too much. Better to stick to the status quo you know (even though its going down the toilet) than the alternative.
Change scares people. And the HC's and GWB's know scared people are good obedient voters :)
Posted by: Gemma | May 12, 2008 6:13:40 AM
What he said was absolutely true. Obama doesn't even know what working class means.
The latte liberals, the college kids, have the luxury of hope, it is the working class that is one pink slip, illness, home repair, car repair away from financial disaster. And half of them have been disenfranchised for years. Even in this primary season half the electorate hasn't even spoken so when they finally do stand up the democratic party may see a revolution that will have their heads spinning.
Pennsylvania voter
Define a 'latte liberal'. It has a very nice ring to it. I appreciate the alliteration.
Your indignation is misguided. Your economy tanked because both your previous Presidents, viz. GW Bush and WJ Clinton sold your economy out.
Im going to suggest you base your indignation on facts and not the lies you've been told by the Clintons.

Good job HC! Your dreams of destroying the Democratic Party are coming true. This is your entitlement, your coronation, yours, yours, yours!!! Screw the party, screw the nation, screw the people. Electorate% Clinton % Obama %
Gender
Women 58% 50% 46%
Men 42% 41% 53%
Race / Ethnicity
White 63% 50% 42%
Black 19% 15% 83%
Latino 13% 63% 35%
Other 5% 61% 34%
These are just statistical facts. I made no judgement on the significance of women voters you did.
Again I simply said women are not soley governed by gender in their voting. I also did not say no women would swap to Obama I said they would not soley vote based on a Roe v Wade scare campaign with an improbable result. A result that has failed o be overturned since 1973 in multiple supreme court rulings and is now more popular than ever.
50% of women went for Clinton as opposed to 46% for Obama hardly a stat to claim a massive margin. Realistically her biggest stat would be either white voters overall or Latino women.
Thank you though for recognising that Obama's biggest negative is answered in your own words:
"Obama is going to be one of the biggest ROCK stars this country has ever seen... "
See voters want an actual President not someone who puts on a good stage show ! Someone with a bit more substance and not a potential one hit wonder. Lets not forget the riff raff those celebrity types hang with. Doesn't say alot for what your vote is based on.
Its swaying, its toppling, its gone.
Again when did I say I would vote for McCain ??????????
Ding dong your king is dead ...........
Good night I enjoyed our banter and believe it or not I respect your interest in the political process for the Presidency.

West Virginia and Kentucky:
Don't give up on Hillary!
She isn't giving up on you!
Have you noticed Obama NEVER says anything about race to anyone?
... He doesn't have to.
He has his posters do the dirty work for him... after all, he IS the teflon man. They were the ones in the beginning who brought the race card out... from South Carolina right on down the line.
They blamed Bill Clinton, one of their staunchest supporters, for putting it into play! Except that it was a flagrant lie, it was a brilliant move on the part of B O...and the black Joker has been kept in play ever since!
His posters have dredged up every bit of crap they could come up with ..... from the little blue dress to Hillary's use of pant suits to the donations the Clintons make to their foundation.
They neglect carrying that topic any further of course because it would show how magnificently charitable the Clintons have been to this country!
B O Plenty's followers are the bigots... not Hillary or her supporters.
They were the ones who voted in blocks of 92% and 91% for their leader. How could this not be considered racist!
Some whites were in the mix... just as some blacks are strong for Hillary.... and all these are the blessed ones for, either way, they obviously used their Minds to come to a decision.
What will happen during the next election? Latinos will have a lot of growth and citizenship bestowed upon them because of their many American born children. This will effectively increase their voting rights a lot in the next four years.
Will the next election require that a Latino become president?
Must an Asian follow the Latino?
Possibilities.... but shouldn't everyone who runse be required to be meet some sort of STANDARDS? Like patriotism, proven service to our country, brilliance and the ability to think on one's feet?
I would think so. Any race should be acceptable unless the candidate is
G R E E N!
In any case, the accomplishments Hillary has brought to this country have been outrageously ignored and all attention by B O'S posters has been mis-focused on stuff for which she is naccountable;
They did this while B O Plenty was travelling the 57 (my! how we've grown!) states of the union in search of his throne.
They did this while B O was sticking up
for Pastor Wright and throwing his white grandmama under the bus. I can still see him being almost suffocated by about eight enormous American flags has he preached his race speech to America and the world!
They did this the second time, some weeks later, while B O was "dissing" pastor Wright and throwing HIM under the bus.
We thought this was rather twofaced... but the mediocre media absorbed it all into its predetermined plot to take him on his soar to Washington.... as if this were just a fairy tale to be taped in Hollywood and sold to Loews.
And the brilliance and accomplishments of Hillary were ignored .. not only by B O's oftimes foul-mouthed followers but also by the members or the press.
Obama's slogan is "change".His cousin Raila Odinga who he supported both financially and politically during his recent bloody struggle for power in Kenya, ran under "Agent for Change" and George Bush also ran for "Change".
So far, the only change I see in this election is one which might lead us back to the mid=-fifties.
Be careful who you vote for.
Be very very careful.
I'm for Hillary, and I approve this message!

Great point Eva,
And "next time" for the Clinton's will be in 2016 when Hillary is like 68 years old and as tired and senile as McCain.......

This is a DELEGATE race, not a popular one. The general election is ALSO about the electorate, not the popular.
Obama is winning the delegate race which is the only metric that counts. I am fatigued by the Clintons and their supporters who want to CHANGE THE RULES when they are not winning. Florida and Michigan don't count (or will count only half) because they did not follow the rules...
Where will I process be if the rules can be broken or thrown out of the window because our personal choice is not winning.
She was running as an incumbent and got her ass handed to her by Obama. Take the loss. Follow the rules he followed and try again next time.

Bill Clinton think people in rural America are real stupid when he says he rather be there than in his multimillion dollar fancy home in New York. He is there to get back to the Whitehouse so he can play his perverted games again. When was the last time he was in the rural America? Did he really make his 100 million dollars by setting books or giving speeches in the Rural America? Clintons will say anything, do anything to get to the Whitehouse. Remember what happened last time. He continued his old habit of sexually using and abusing women and got caught but ofcourse he lied and got caught lying by DNA test and got impeached and barred from practicing law. What did Hillary do? She did what she always does, she stood beside him and demonised the poor girl not much older than her own daughter. Now she claims to be champion of women. What a scam.

Ha, ha, ha!
After all it is payback time for when Obama was down and these creeps just bashed him to no end.

Hillary is part of the old government mentality that everyone is disenchanted with. Looking at the record of Obama during his years of service in the senate, and his reteric, his ideas are possible change towards government transparency with the American People, which is so despartely needed to get the pride and patriotism back into the American People. Obama is someone that will stand up to the American Congress and fight for change. And I believe that if he wins the presidency, he is someone who will stand up to the American Congress and fight for change, no matter how much he loses. What the American People should also realize that the no matter how much the president promises change, he still has to fight the congress, who envariably runs the country. If the country is smart enough to elect Obama, and he lives up to his message of change, then the American People should support him, and start electing candidates into the American Congress who support the rights of the American People, and the vision of honest American Government.

Ginger: Rev. Wright, by his own admission, preaches black liberation theology at Obama's church.
The new preacher at Trinity, Rev. Otis Moss, also preaches black liberation theology. Rev. Wright has cited Jame H. Cone as his theological mentor. James Cone is one of the founders of this theology. They sell one of Cone's books on the church website. The particular quote I cited is a quote from James H. Cone describing the nature of black liberation theology.
If you're really interested in this issue, I recommend that you read Cone's books. The one recommended on the Trinity United Church's website is called "Black Theology and Black Power." I've read it cover to cover, and I have to warn you that all that hate and divisiveness makes for a very depressing read.
My point in bringing this up is that of all the churches Obama could have attended, he chose to attend a racist black liberation theology church. As I said to "context", if Hillary Clinton had attended a white racist church for 20 years, and considered its white racist pastor to be her "mentor and spiritual adviser," she would not be elected dog catcher, and rightly so. And, the argument that the church does "good works" in the community is a bogus argument. Many racist organizations also do good works in their community, but that does not justify the racism. I'm sure that there was another church Obama could have attended which also did good works in the community, but which did not preach hatred, division, and racism.

Hey Sally,
Maybe your too young to remember. Bill and Hillary Clinton were pot smoking, drug taking "hippie" types in college.
Don't you remember one of Bill's first lies while running for office? "I didn't inhale."
At least Barrack told the truth and said her DID inhale. So what, do you think this is some big revelation you are telling us???
What a joke those lying Clinton's and their "die hard supporters" are....
I am sooooo Happy now! Because I know those lying Clinton's will never darken the Halls (or sell one night stays in the Lincoln bedroom) again!
Whew, I have to admit I WAS worried for a while, but no more....

I think all of Obama's supporters biggest fear now is that somehow Obama might be forced by the party into picking Hillary for VP!
It is too scary to even think about! The reason she could never have won the primary and the subsequent election is because fully 1/2+ of the country just hates the woman...
She never would have had a chance in the general election, and the thought of her being VP is horrifying! She has way to much negative baggage and would only drag down the ticket.
Especially with that loose cannon Bill rolling around the deck blowing holes in the side of the ship, just like he did with her campaign. Man that guy needs to just retire and go sit in his library...

Sally,
Are you quoting from Rev. Wright, Sen. Obama or James H. Cove? Are these things said in the books written by Rev. Wright or Sen. Obama?
Posted by: ginger | May 12, 2008 12:39:40 AM
The Democratic Establishment - Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, etc. should be very, very worried, not of what Bill Clinton is saying but because of their reluctance to listen to the voters and what the 18 million and counting voters who voted for Hillary will do come fall. And I would be remiss if I did not add the Superdelegates who are swooning over Obama. They have let the Obama camp and the media re-write their responsiblities as Superdelegates and I believe they are playing with fire and gambling with an important election. But that has never stopped them before.
Even as Obama is receiving 90% of the African-American votes (even though a large percentage of African-Americans are blindly voting for him without even knowing where he stands on many issues that may be important to them), you have heard Mrs. Clinton say often that she understands and knows why African-Americans are proud of this time. She has never to my mind said anything to undermine Obama's candidacy as a black man. She has always stuck to the issues as she sees them and expounded on the policy differences between them.
I, on the other hand, like many women not only in America but across the world believe that Mrs. Clinton had all the odds stacked against her in this election when a viable black man would run against the first viable woman for the highest office in the land with the liberal media and the democratic establishment wanting to make history for Black America which represents a critical voting bloc for the Democratic Party.
What the Democratic Party now faces is the back lash from women all across the country – another key constituent of their Party who now believe their day will never come. What the Democratic Party does not realize is that this is not about Hillary Clinton alone. This is also about women all across the country who play a key role in the everyday life of Americans, who are woven into the fabric of the American Way – not only as mothers and wives, but who have been the foundation of the family unit for centuries, entrepreneurs, business owners, CEOs, and keepers of the faith. These are the women who push George Bush over the threshold in his 2004 victory.
Hillary Clinton can hold her own and she has by far been the best candidate so far in this election. Her candidacy transcends just women. As Americans got to know her during this process, she also has a strong showing among white men, independents Catholics, Hispanics and the elderly – all of whom the Party needs to win in the fall. These are the voters who’ve helped her win the battleground states that are absolutely necessary for a victory in the fall.
No matter how hard Mrs. Clinton campaigns for Obama if he is the nominee, I don't see him winning the election based on his poor showing among the key groups mentioned above.
I would also like to be a bit presumptuous to add that I believe not only is Hillary Clinton hands down the legitimate nominee but also the victim of a seriously flawed Democratic nominating process which we can only hope will change as the years go by. Obama has amassed pledged delegates through the caucus states. Unfortunately, many of these voters weren't the working class (all working class, not excluding African-Americans) that make up the majority of the population of America. They were often the well-to-do, non-hourly paid workers who could get off work any time of day, did not have to worry about childcare, and were not the elderly who simply could not show up at a certain place and a certain time to cast their vote.
And let's not forget that the same amount of people voted for them so far -- about 1% of the total separates them. It's not like Mrs. Clinton (or her husband for that matter) is reviled by a large voting bloc -- just a few hell-bent liberals in the mainstream media and the New York Times.

Some of you people are so ignorant to say that black people are voting for Obama because he is black/white(?).
If that is the case why are they voting for Alan Keys? Also, in past elections when Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton ran, why weren't the major contenders? Why? Becuase black are smarter than you idiotic people think they are. They aren't just voting for color as you say they are. They are voting becuase they feel they have candidate that is stating the real issues of our economy. And this is why people black and white are really understanding and agreeing whe Obama.
Now, to be honest - Hillary and Obama's issues are not that far different if you have really looked at them. It's just that he has presented and promoted his issues and himself in more positive way than the clintons.
So, drop the race baiting and do your research and think like a rational person would.
And, no the rev. wright thing was alla farce for people that didn't do your research and viewed the entire sermon ad found out that those weren't his words. Just soundbites to trick you.

If you can explain to me rationally that the entire 92% of black voters coming out for Obama are doing it based on issues not on race then I will accept it. The truth is that I don't think you can and you don't think you can and we both know that's racist.
Obama supporters get to be called educated, upper class, middle class, non divisive, non racist etc .
On the other hand we are called poor, uneducated, ignorant, blue collar, lower class, racist, feminist, divisive, bitter etc. (and they are the polite ones)
Please take stock of who walks away from these characterizations truly insulted, disrespected and rightfully offended.
You want unity accept that society encompasses a huge variety of people and we are all citizens of the USA and we all have our role to play.
Stop putting us down and kicking into our preferred candidate and explain why you like yours. Show you respect us or at least our right to vote and we may just hear enough from you to support your guy come November.

Hillary and Bill are idiots. Wht not bring the party together. Bow out with grace. Sit back and wait four years and if Obama flops Hillary would have a sure win in four years. But she and Bill are showing their bad side and if they upset enough people she wont even have a chance down the road. Instant gratification and sore loosers. Oh well, I expected as much and thats why I have always been for Obama.

What goes around comes around...
Bill will eventually get indicted for the way he's handling money donated for his library.
Hillary will lose her senate seat and then any standing in the democratic party.
They will divorce and grow old separately yet share forever in the wonderment of "where did it all go so terribly wrong?"
Posted by: Stevez515 | May 11, 2008 9:58:41 PM
I guess now the Clinton lie so much they don't know their lying.
Too bad they are damaging their legacy. With the lies and the racial attack, they deserve everything they get.
To say people are calling WV & KY stupid? Clinton's always brag they appeal to uneducated people. I find that pretty insulting!

Hillary is UnTrustWorthy, and if Obama add's her to the Ticket, I will not Vote!

After reading this and reading what the Clinton's have been saying about obama behind close door's I'm a firm believe that they have completely lost touch with reality and they are a couple of bigots...Do they think people can't read between the lines...so what are you saying that the "Black Vote" doesn't matter cause were here to support the white worker and fight for your ideals so you should support a black guy cause he doesn't know you like some of your own kind knows you"...The Clinton's should be ran outta the democratic party after some of the venomous trash they have said over the last couple weeks...how anybody can say they aren't playing the race game is beyond me. Just look at what they are saying. Bill Clinton hasn't been to a single Urban Area to at least try for the black vote since South Carolina. I wanted to support a Obama/Clinton ticket but after this salvo of trash from them. If Hillary is any where near the ticket I will stay home.

Clinton is trying to damage Obama enough so he will not win the general election in Nov.. Then she can run againn in 2012 for the democratic nomination and try again to be President. In other words Hillary is saying we can have another four years of Republicans and no end to the Iraq war, no improvement in health care, less taxes for the rich, more taxes for the poor, more of goverment paying attention to lobbyists and less to its citizens.
And people are still supporting Hillary and Bill. Unbelievable.

How is a Yale Law Graduate, the wife of a guy who makes $20 million a year giving speeches, "one of them"? At least Eva Peron came from a poor rural background.

Ok, people time to get off Rev. Wright. If you do not want to vote for Sen. Obama then don't.
I listened to the entire sermon Rev. Wright preached just after 9/11. I was taken aback by several of his statements. However, as a Christian I know that God does condemn unjust acts. Rev. Wright was speaking about our government, and many of the unjustices it has committed over the centuries.
As for Michelle Obama, she said, "I am really proud. Meaning she was proud before but nows she's REALLY proud. And she's right. Some of you are turning a compliment into an evil, which is what the media wants.
For the very first time in history our country is saying it's ok to vote for bi-racial canidate. Like Michelle for the first time in my adult life I feel REALLY proud of this country. Why? because the voters are accepting a bi-racial canidate who is intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable. So yeah, I'm really proud too.

West Virginia is one of the most beautiful states with some of the most intelligent people-----don't let these Democrats tell you differently.
I would put a graduate of West Virginia University and other West Virginia Schools up against Hillary or Obama in debate anytime. We can beat them in the bowling alley and we can beat them in debate.
It's unfortunate that the Democrat Party does not have a better choice in candidates.
For almost two years both Hillary and Obama have pandered to voters and spent millions of dollars in talking about change without saying what change means.
As a West Virginian, I say vote your choice but know that you have better choices coming in the fall, McCain and his VP nominee or Ralph Nader and his VP nominee.

Hillary should leave the party and go Independent, since the Obama supporters thinks she's so racist and cruel, why would you want someone like that trying to get you elected, if you think this person is no good, that sounds hypercritical to me, she's not good enough to be President, but she's good enough to campaign for an inexeprienced Senator who just came out of nowhere preachin false hope and change, Obama does not deserve this position and Hillary should tske her followers like myself and go Independent let Demcratic Party and Obama Supporters help him get elected, don't use Hillary's supporters for your own political and personal gain.
I'm a Black American who do not in anyway believe the Clinton's are racist, the Obama Campaign duped my race of people into believing this in order to get the massive Black vote for Obama, I did not fall for Ookie Doke and decpetion, if anything the Obama campaign staffers played a huge role in dividing this party, by amking a mountain out of a mole hill, the Clinton's could not say anything without someone making them out to be racist, my race of people goes with the wind they are loyal to no one, let someone come on the scene from nowhere looking presentable and speaking like a church preacher about hope and change and many fell hell over hills for this person, not really listening to what the person is saying or offering the people for their vote with any substance or detail, we where listening to the vioce but not what the voice was saying. Well we will learn the hard way not to trust slick smooth talking politican riding in town on a white horse preaching some new thing with no substance or depth, the people who voted for Obama would have gotten what they deserved for followering such a decpetive person.
Someone stated vote for Obama for the good of the party, I'm not voting for the party, the party has let me down, for promoting an inexperienced candidate. I'm wanted to vote for a President who I think has the most experience and quailficans to do the job, and what's in my best interest, Hillary is the one who meets tha standard for me, this party has lost it's way, because they want change so bad that they are willing to take a risk on an inexeprienced candidate to try and fix Bush's mess after leaving office in 2009.
Attention All Hillary Supporters From DarrellP
Well, I will not be a part of this, this goes against my principles of voting for the most experienced candidate to be President whether the person is a man, woman, black or white it does not matter to me, all I want in office is the person best suited to effectively do the job, Hillary. In my opinion is that candidate, so now that the people are speaking very loudly against Clinton being the nominee, it's now time for me to vacate this party and go Independent, if Hillary comes along with me, I will vote for her, but if she campaign or support Oabma in any shape or form, I will stay home on election day in protest of Obama's Presidency, vote for McCain, or Ralph Nader, but I hope all strong Hillary supporters would follow my lead and do the same, Hillary should not lower herself to back Obama since she knows he's not ready to be President, including trying to save a party who threw her under the bus for an Johnny Come Lately Senator, if Hillary is not good enough to be President, she's not good enough to unify this party and support Obama.
Obama Supporters definitely don't want a racist like they siad Hillary is trying to help Obama win the election, if Obama want the election, he must win it without the Hillary Supporters, because Hillary Supporters to them are racist and dividers in their opinions, and I know they don't want racist and dividers voting for Obama doing the general election as well.
Hillary should run down the middle and run against McCain and Obama, this will help also block Obama's Presidency, this is called the "Nader Affect" which happended to Gore and Kerry doing their election seasons. Now I call for an Hillary affect to block Obama's Presidency and let the chips fall where they may, because he does not qualify or deserve this position, any way, Obama has not paid his dues or learned enough to be in such a high position, good speaking of hope and change is not enough for me to say that he would be an effective President enough to fix the mess Bush will leave behind, unify this country, politically economically, culturally, or socially. I believe after Obama get through with us, this country would be more divided than ever before. but he Democratic Party would be held responsible for allowing inexperienced Obama to be the nominee, We shall reap what we sown in the long-term.
Posted by: DarrellP | May 11, 2008 4:50:40 PM
At this point most rational Democrats with any class at all would be trying to unify the party. Bill is worse than Hillary--not rational and has no class. I hope the people in WVa see through him, because he is the one making fun of them and using them.
By the way--to answer a question from above, Obama's birthday is August 4, 1961, not the one under speculation. Do you know how long it took me to find that out? As long as it took me to type in "Obama birthday" in Google. Please people, if you are going to use the internet, Google and fact check before blindly believing all the lies out there and especially before passing it on to others.
The information age gives us more data to process and check. Use its tools to do so and be responsible.

Obama's problem is partly his race, and much more his idiot Reverend. Thus he trails badly in white rural and Catholic precincts. Obama could win the nomination on a five-primary losing streak (WV, KY, SD, MT, OR), and his unpopularity in rural and catholic precincts means McCain has a chance to beat him.

"A New Era" is what Obama will Usher in. Hillary and McCain can only bring dispear. We Americans who are intouch with reality, know this to be true. Hillary and Bill has shown the ugly side of politics. America is in turmoil, in most every aspect. Gas prices soaring. It cost a full days work just to pay for 1 week of driving to work. The Oil Company's are making Billions off hard working Americans and Hillary and McCain are not worried about this, their rich. Hillary wasnt even against the War in Iraq till she decided to r
