Carville Says Obama Short on ‘Cojones’
May 04, 2008 11:57 AM
Of the comparable toughness between Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., Clinton adviser James Carville tells Newsweek: "If she gave him one of her cojones, they'd both have two."
Classy.
(Carville also says Clinton needs to win both Indiana and North Carolina on Tuesday. “The onus is on her. She's got to do better than tie. If she wins Indiana and North Carolina, she's the nominee. She's got to shock the system, and she may be shocking it.”)
There sure are a lot of men around Clinton who keep throwing out gonad and gender references to imply Clinton is stronger than Obama, as if strength is an exclusively male characteristic.
A few days ago, as ABC News' Eloise Harper reported, Paul Gibson, the president of a local steelworkers Union Chapter 6787 in Indiana, announced support for Clinton, saying it's "going to take an individual with testicular fortitude" to deal with the nation's problems.
In February, Jack Nicholson announced that "Hillary is the best man for the job."
In relaying this to crowds, Clinton changed this to "real men vote for Hillary."
Linguists are going to look back at this election as a treasure trove.

Carville is creepy and disgusting. HRC supportes need to come to grips with the new nominee and get behind him. You can bet that HRC will be working for either a VP, governor, or a cabinet level position in the near future. There is still much work to do and all this infighting will cause the DEMS to lose in Nov. John M. is not a strong candidate.

Thomas Friedman, New York Times columnist wrote today of Hillary's toughness: "Tom Friedman's column today
Much nonsense has been written about how Hillary Clinton is “toughening up” Barack Obama so he’ll be tough enough to withstand Republican attacks. Sorry, we don’t need a president who is tough enough to withstand the lies of his opponents. We need a president who is tough enough to tell the truth to the American people. Any one of the candidates can answer the Red Phone at 3 a.m. in the White House bedroom. I’m voting for the one who can talk straight to the American people on national TV — at 8 p.m. — from the White House East Room." Maybe Carville, who knows Hillary intimately, knows something about her gender preferences re: her top aide Huma Abedin.

What are your reactions, feminists? Is this how you want a woman to "fight" to become the first female POTUS? If so, okay. If not, may I ask why not? What is real strength anyway? I can say I've had 2 children without an epidural, but then I'd have to say one of my labors only lasted 45 minutes. At first I thought I would need to shake my fist at men in the workforce, but I found that doing my equal share has been enough. I'm sure part of that is just blessed circumstances, but that's okay too.

If Barack Obama takes even a passing shot at Hillary, she will start crying, like she did in New Hampshire.
Boo hoo Hillary. You give good punches, but when you take them, you start blubbering like a baby.

One ball Barry is getting roughed up by an old lady. You know you are soft when a sixty year old woman can successfully tag you as effeminate. Those joint appearances with Michelle actually hurt Obama, since it is clear she is the tough one. The spouses of the leading candidates are more interesting. Michelle has more fortitude than Barack, Elizabeth was more credible than John, and Bill is more appealing than Hillary.

Havent you guys LONG SINCE figured out the formula yet?
Obama talks in great generalities on the stump about wholesale change . PANDERING and PREYING on those in dispair. Like he is the wizard of oz who has a magic wand.
Clinton then puts forth solutions. Obama simply either steals the idea for himself , or bashes it down while STILL not coming up with any plan himself.
He still tries to make it seem like his health care plan is a 'universal healthcare' plan .
Wow . Talk about an honest politician.

When Hillary came up with the brilliant suggestion of setting up an "Umbrella of Deterrence" while Obama was still brushing the cobwebs off his brain and sending them stumlingly into the airwaves during the last debate he was in.... I was proud of her!
Although not a unique idea, (this tpe of deterrent is something already in effect in some European countries }, it was commendable because it shows promise of a strong leader with a quick mind coming up with a rationale able to quickly be brought to the table for discussion, evaluation and either acceptance ... or dismissal.
Obama came up with N O T H I N G at that time.
But I"ve come up with a list of 70... and more on the way of Obama's Laundry List of Lies..... which I would be happy to have you read before coming to your final decision on voting.
Meantime, I'm sticking with Hillary!

You know what? I quit reading all the carping. One camp and ONE CAMP ONLY claimed to be NEW POLITICS under a UNITER.
And looking at the PETTY JUNK his cult followers dish out we can see for ourselves: OBAMA HAS ALREADY FAILED.
If you wankers are "new" and you whining snarling name-callers are NOT "elitist" and are following Obama's "lead" as a "uniter" you are WORSE FOR HIM THAN WRIGHT. You cultists PROVE he is NOT anything special and certainly NOT a uniter and if his followers who are ALL over the NET spewing this crap are any indication, you are worse than elitists...you are POSERS who only WISH you deserved to be elitist.

Carville is not a supporter, he is an a strategist and advisor, but your're right she couldn't control Mark Penn either as he undermined her stance on free trade by taking $300,000 to promote it. Luckily he got caught and Colombia fired him...not Hil she needs his advice. Bill, on the other hand, made out like a bandit fleecing the Colombians of $800,000. What a cadre.

HILLARY CLINTON CAN BEST WIN IN NOVEMBER:
It's time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources.
But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say's that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Mr. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Mr. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton's have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.
If Mr. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.
Sen. Hillary Clinton: "You know, more people have now voted for me than have voted for my opponent. In fact, I now have more votes than anybody has ever had in a primary contest for a nomination. And it's also clear that we've got nine more important contests to go."
Sincerely
Jacksmith... Working Class :-)

I think we can officially stop accusing the Obama campaign of sexism. Hillary has referred to herself as Rocky Balboa, Paulette Revere (the recession is coming! the recession is coming!) and last Thursday as Goldilocks (her gas tax holiday plan is "just right"). I have a new one: "cowgirl diplomacy" (regarding her “obliterate Iran” comment). These people shouldn't be in the White House. They should create their own late-night t.v. show.

Palmer's the black female mentor Obama double-crossed to get into the Illinois Senate seat, which he used to get into the U.S. Senate seat. This story is mighty quiet. Palmer, if she cares to, can put this guy away.
Wright, the other black mentor who gave Obama "black" cred, has been discarded.
Rezko and Ayers, Obama's non-black financial mentors, have been denied by Obama doubting-Thomas style.
It's kind of telling, maybe, that only the most morally-appealing of the four is actually campaigning for the only Obama opponent still standing.

Some of you are taking this so personally when you should know that Hillary is just staying in the race to get your money...she does have $14,000,000 of bills to pay off, you know! I wonder if she will use your money to pay back herself the $5,000,000 loan she gave to her campaign...hmmmm.

From the start of this campaign the Obama people and Obama himself have called Hillary terrible names and attempted to vilify and minimize her as an apponent. They have gotten a pass on their constant rhetoric.
Now Obama to take the spotlight of of himself and his association with Wright continues to play this music of painting Clinton as a "do anything to be elected" candidate,
He is the guy who didn't have the guts to tell his minister of 20 years that AIDS was not a government conspiracy, He is the guy that has lied countless times about his own church and what was taught there.
He is the guy that continues to lie about his "other mentor" the slumlord and Obama investor Rezko.
He lacks courage...He lacks integrity...he is a politician as usual...who claims to be something else.
Sometimes the truth isn't pretty but I don't get too outraged at the people who tell it! After all we want a president that can deal with foreign dictators and a stalemated Washington...words won't fix that.
Carville has a history of making controversial statements to make a point.

I would never vote for Obama. Obama is a total fraud. He is weak and he is a bumbling, stuttering moron when asked direct questions, which is why he tries hard to avoid any serious questions.
Obama needs a mentor at age 27? What a pathetic person. And he chose REV WRIGHT?
Obama (just like Wright) is nothing more than a pandering opportunist. The guy makes me puke. He "is" a puke. He's projectile vomit being spewed all over the web and the TV and radio 24/7. He's a fake and I will not ever vote for him.
The number of HRC supporters who will NOT vote the Obama Fraud, grows daily.
We will not sit idly by and watch the President be chosen by the MEDIA.

When Bill Clinton came to the White House in1993, Democrats were a congressional majority, with 258 seats in the House. When he left in 2001, they were a minority with 46 fewer seats. There were 30 Democratic governors, when he arrived, 21 eight years later.
A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found nearly 60 percent of voters think Clinton is dishonest and will lie whenever she thinks she needs to.

Anyway, what they are really saying is that Hilliary is nothing without the testicular fortitude (a male trait) and without the cohones. She is merely a weak caricature of the female species. Methinks they better do some thining before they make such outrageous comments! They backfire! |

Hillary's poor judgment:
1.Urging the passage of NAFTA;
2. Voting to authorize the war in Iraq which so far has resulted in the death of over 4000 Americans and millions of Iraqis.
3. Voting to empower Bush to declare the Iranian Guards as "a terrorist organization; thereby giving Bush the power to declare war on Iran."
4. Having as her campaign manager, Mark Penn, who earned her and her husband over $800,000,00 from the Colombian government for urging passage of a free trade agreement.
5. Threatening to “OBLITERATE” Iran instead of negotiate.
6. Trying to run her own campaign for president.
7. Marrying a sexual predator.
THAT JUST FOR STARTERS; I'LL TAKE OBAMA ANY DAY.

"Seperate-but-equal would infer that it's being done solely based on race."
Actually, "separate-but-equal" would IMPLY that it's being done solely based on race.
"Every time some people see that a particular program is advantaging a community with a majority demographic that's non-white, they immediately scream foul-play."
Get a clue: the biiig problem in the U.S., as elsewhere, is not about "race", it's about POVERTY.
Nobody's prejudiced against rich people of ANY color -- hence the misleading suggestion from social-climbing elitist frauds like John Kerry that there's something special about tender candidate Obama because he's (supposedly) "a black man".
People in general ARE, however, prejudiced against poor people of any color, and against women.
If this "post-partisan" fraud were president, the present "politically correct" strictures on public speech would multiply, and everyone of ANY race would be walking on (brown) eggshells for however long it took to remove him from office.

If a particular school is far enough away from the polls and they have the idea to do this, and another school doesn't need it, then it's perfectly fine. Seperate-but-equal would infer that it's being done solely based on race.
Every time some people see that a particular program is advantaging a community with a majority demographic that's non-white, they immediately scream foul-play.
Nothing about this bussing program is geared towards making students choose a particular candidate. Just because the kids are black it's a problem for you folks? That approach is the only racism taking place here, I'm sorry to tell you.

I am taking bets as to what Hillary will come up with to get votes in Kentucky..... It will be interesting. She has pretty much used up everything including amending the Constitution to allow Guam to vote in the general election. She is testing that theory to see if it is popular and then she will promise the same to Puerto Rico. Since low level voters in Indiana don't read, They will never know what a bad idea this gas tax holiday is. We have seen how Hillary intends to fight. A lot like George Bush.
It scares me that so many Republicans including Conservative media is pushing so hard for Hillary to win the primary.

Well, for one thing, you're completely speculating that they're ONLY doing it at a black school.
Secondly, these are kids, and when I was their age, the 15 miles or more to my poling center would have definitely prohibited me from voting at all.
Thirdly, there's nothing illegal or disgusting about getting our youth to participate in American Democracy. We've passed laws to require students to study civics as a diploma requirement. We bring voter registration personnel into schools to make them elligible to vote. If getting a ride to the polls is a way to get them to vote for the first time and fulfill their duty and potential as American citizens, even if it's just one school in the whole state willing to take that step, then it's an honorable and decent thing to do.
Again, you're primary hangup here seems to be about the fact that it's a black school. If it was only one school filled with white kids (as mine was) and they offered this service, would you care? Would anyone?
You're reaching, and in the process revealing your ideology. Heaven forbid a historically downtrodden population's children are given a chance to participate in a franchise that their ancestors were immorrally barred from.
Some things go beyond which candidate they benefit. Some things are just the right thing to do. Senator's Obama, Clinton, and McCain would wholeheartedly agree with me.

fontapa,
I see you posted a lengthy response to my post. I did not have time to read ALL OF IT. Note, I did virtually no editorializing on it, other than I thought it weird. I have never heard of busing school kids to vote in a presidiential election or any election for that matter. These teens can walk, I am sure! Seniors cannot get around and that is the point of providing transportation. Further, where I am located, many seniors just vote absentee. There are no buses for them at all.
I stand by my original post and further posit if the school system did this in only predominantly black schools, I absolutely do have a problem with it. There is no justification for spending tax dollars to fund ANY transportation of students, unless we are talking about diaabled students.
I think it is ridiculous!! It may even be unlawful.

Some of you are taking this so personally when you should know that Hillary is just staying in the race to get your money...she does have $14,000,000 of bills to pay off, you know! I wonder if she will use your money to pay back herself the $5,000,000 loan she gave to her campaign...hmmmm.

If Obama HAD any b___s, he wouldn't have thrown Wright over when the polling went against him.
If Obama HAD any b___s, he wouldn't have pretended Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were people he hardly knew, instead of people with whom he'd worked closely for YEARS.
If Obama HAD any b___s, he'd actually have campaigned for the state and U.S. Senate seats, instead of having his invisible associates knock the other candidates off the ballot.

Gee, are you suggesting that James Carville is an unpaid surrogate for the Clintons, and has been working over superdelegates like Paul Gibson and Mike Easley personally, so much so that they're using his words?

countallthevotes-
What's possibly bad about a government funded public school providing transportation to interested elligible voters who are in school that day if they wish to take advantage of their legal right to vote? Nothing in there suggests a bias towards either candidate, does it?
There are tons of systems and organizations that do the same thing for other groups with transportation/time-off type issues, so why not schools? I would think a school encouraging and enabling young people to exercise their franchise would be a noble and good thing.
Unless, of course, by bias, you're referring to the predominant race of the students in that school? So are you saying that anyone who provides transportation or get out the vote services to a group or area that contains a high percentage of a particular demographic that polls as leaning towards one candidate over another is now suspect of tampering or illegally influencing a vote?
So election day bussing to poor neighborhoods that happen to be non-white neighborhoods is now to be suspected of influencing towards Obama?
How about the same services given to the elderly in nursing homes and such? They tend to vote Clinton, so is that illegit?
So are you proposing that only people with flexible jobs (no low-income) reliable vehicles (no unemployed) and the ability to drive themselves (no youth, elderly, or disabled need apply) should be allowed to vote?
If your post was aimed to help Clinton or McCain, you might want to stop. It's definitely not helping either of them, and even as an Obama supporter I don't beleive it reflects the viewpoints of either of these fine leaders.

BEtty,
Shut down FOXNEWS? Did you ever hear of the First Amendment??
Posted by: countallthevotes | May 4, 2008 3:05:11 PM
Nobody wants to come right out and say "Obama's got no b___s" for fear of being labelled "racist". How complicated IS that?
So the male punditocracy attributes "testicular fortitude" to Clinton -- who "happens to", as they say, be FEMALE.

Hillary is really a sad, pathetic figure. I don't know much about her except that she was a first lady, is a NY senator, lies to the public, and now thinks she's qualified to run our country because she has the "cojones"??? What happened to integrity in the White House?
Barack models himself after a President of integrity, Abraham Lincoln. I say let's restore dignity back to America. Obama gets my vote!

Jake, OT, but interesting tidbit from NYT:
"Four hours north in Gary, a predominantly black city of 100,000, a vastly different debate has been simmering in the days before the primary on Tuesday: a Clinton supporter has questioned the school system’s decision to bus high school seniors to the county courthouse for early voting, field trips that some said looked like a way to try to produce higher numbers for Mr. Obama."
IMHO, that is downright weird for a public school to be doing this.

hey trust me we want carville on our side regardless of who the democratic nominee is to go after the republican machine in the general. the democrats would be foolish not to recognize this regardless of which candidate they support. the young pup strategists in the obama campaign will get swallowed whole in one bite by the republicans. we democrats, all need mr. carville.

I agree. A comment which was more to the point, and less plain-spoken than jpt and Carville, wouldn't post. What's THAT about -- only pro-Obama sentiment allowed?
Obama had the "guts" (another word for what the guy meant by "testicular fortitude") to support his preacher until it went against him -- then canned him just as quickly.

hey bebop,so i should throw away my principles and back obama who since a teenager in hawaii has had clear marxist antiamerican ties because you say so!and if i dont im either not a democrat [which i am]or im just stupid.i think that the people that call for putting a marxist leaning no experiance candidate into the white house either have not done their reasearch or have those same marxist thoughts.

Robert Hewson,
Your repost of Head of State was interesting. Just stop and think. Obama has only really had a month of tough press coverage with Wright and Ayes. Think of how much Hillary has gone through with brutal press coverage spanning over a decade and on the most very personal details.
She is much tougher. There is no doubt in my mind. Obama had the imprimatur of the press for too long. Any questions recently posed to Obama on Wright, Ayres, etc. were legitimate questions.
Yes, Hillary has the "cajones" in this campaign. Obama has often been described as the "feminine" candidate.
Read Hillary is from Mars, Obama is from Venus:
I don't agree with everything but it is a good read.

I see the Obama supporters are gettin' a wee bit defensive and whiny about Barack's "cojones" being impugned. Of course, ya never hear a word outta them when Hillary is being called every dirty, filthy, nasty euphemism for the female gender.
So, I say to all Obama supporters - GET A PAIR! And STOP WHINING! Your candidate does quite enough of that.

omg,
Notes from a quack
analysing barack
please,
mr. obama seems to be a decent man,
I just wish he had used the cajones he has and stuck with what he said about himself and the presidency, when he was asked earlier about running for president.
he said he didn't think he had the experience, he needed to stay in the senate and work some.
he should have.
he knows he is not ready to be president

Hillary and Bill lied to the American People
REMEMBER I didn't have sexual relations with that woman..
Hillary lies and lies..
And now she has COJONES..BIGGER COJONES..
Well.. I'll say this
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WED...
Bye Bye Cojones..

Once again, Carville and the Clinton campaign using divisive tactics, pettiness and nasty remarks to further their agenda.
This is why Americans are voting for CHANGE this year.
We have soldiers dying, people losing their jobs and this guy is comparing "cajones".... give me a break!
Americans deserve better!

Let's face it Obama will most likely be the nominee and the people who say they will for Mccain..
Are not true Democrats because to vote for Mccain is to vote for the War..
So either these folks are liars about being Democrats are they are fools for waiting to vote for Mccain..
So lets stop the madness and join on the Obama train
CHO cho.............
It is always fascinating to hear a supporter of Senator Obama opine on what constitutes a Democrat ...
Perhaps they will feel differently after the party goes down in flames due to the coronation of the least suitable candidate EVER in the history of either party.
A vote of Barack Obama IS a vote for John McCain.

Obama people let them all talk about the Wright issue stop talking about it let them talk all they want too…. They want to keep this feed going so that it helps only CLINTON…… that is their new game plan that is why Hillary didn’t say anything until she got on cbs with George again just another jab with her knife… Remember what obama did we need to brush it off like he did her!!!

All I hear these day’s are he’s black and I would never vote for Obama (and it's not because I'm a racist). That statement just proves you are racist!!! I am White and I know the difference with the racist comments. I understand the hardships of African “AMERICANS”
