Clinton Chair Praises Fox News, Says 90% of the Media in the Tank for Obama

May 13, 2008 3:31 PM

On Fox & Friends -- a show we last mentioned, I believe, after it repeated the false smear that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, was educated in a madrassa -- the affable Terry McAuliffe appeared this morning to explain the difficult delegate math that would lead Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, to the Democratic nomination.

McAuliffe was asked by one of the hosts "what percentage of the mainstream media is in the tank for Barack Obama?" (Watch HERE.)

"Oh, 90 percent," quoth the Macker. "I mean, from day one. It is what it is -- we're not complaining, we have to deal with the hand we're dealt with...''

The hosts pleaded with McAuliffe to complain.

"It doesn't do you any good," McAuliffe demurred. "You know what - every independent study has said that this is the most biased coverage they have ever seen in a presidential campaign. Clearly it has been a biased media, no question about it. I have said this - Fox has been one of the most responsible in this presidential campaign -- I have said that all along.''

And look at all the free press Obama was given!

First the "race" speech as he stood solemnly in front of a thousand American flags as he told us all that his pastor was a pistol... like an old Uncle to him.... But it was ok to do away with his typical white Grandma who brought him up!

The it was the wrenching "I was wrong, and my pastor is uncontrol-able" speech some weeks later. In this one, Jake used up screensfull of copy and the Chicago Tribune had a comic strip in full color drawn up for page three of its Sunday paper. And Obama came out and disinherited poor Jeremiah for the tenure of this election....

Oh, and he threw him under the bus with his poor white typical grandma .

That was thousands of hours of air time...free publicity out the kazoo.

How come you never treated Hillary so royally?

I think when it comes to this election, the media .... including the fourth estate... is broken.

I think that rather than being objective, the media has been judgemental to such an extreme that it has pretty much predetermined the direction in which this election has gone.

Is it fixable?

I pray that it is!

Mr Unite us,

As I know Rupert Murdoch recently switched to back Obama.

Posted by: catleya | May 14, 2008 1:30:38 AM

Fox Television owner Rupert Murdoch is a Clinton fund raiser. His stations attacks against Obama are the equivalent to millions in negative attack ads.

ABC's Brian Ross spliced together the Jeremiah Wright highlight reel.

ABC also accused Obama of snubbing Clinton when he merely turned to answer a question from Senator McCaskill.

I recognize that Fox has a bias and may not always sufficiently vet it's stories, but the sad truth is that it has provided the most fair and balanced coverage this primary season. That isn't so much a compliment for Fox as it is an insult to the other networks. MSNBC and CNN, especially, and to a some what lesser extent the other networks have provided horribly biased coverage (and there are studies to prove it). Most of the networks have been in the tank for Obama, and even though they've covered Rev. Wright, they've also paraded out a number of apologists so the coverage wouldn't be too damaging.

Now, I wouldn't necessarily say political punch has been in the tank, but am pretty much in agreement with that 90% estimatation. I mean, seriously, can anyone else remember when the media has become so involved in calling for one candidate to exit the race? And, why is everyone so concerned that Clinton will harm Obama? If he is that delicate, perhaps he isn't the best candidate to go up against McCain in the general.

Oh, and rather than complain about getting called out for being in the tank, and taking shots at Fox (which, I agree is bad), why not do something to increase the journalistic integrity of your own network (as a parent, I tend to think in terms of children, and if one of my children came home and complained about getting an F on a paper and said well, the teacher gave Bobby a D- and Bobby made a lot of mistakes, I would say, well, let's forget about Bobby and see what you can do to improve your performance -- get it?).

I think that Fox has been the fairest too. Although they have the Republican slant they don't really have a horse in the Democratic race. Even though Murdock's daughter is an Obama fundraiser Fox has been pretty fair on the race.

MSNBC is an outrageous excuse for a news outlet. I have no intention of watching their terrible excuse for media. Across the board they have been fawning of Obama and critical of Clinton. Chris Mathews has been a total sad excuse of a journalist. His Clinton directed anger is out of control.

CNN has commentators that pretend to be political consultants but are Obama surrogates. Roland Martin used to get totally out of control and emotional in his support of Obama....He once claimed that if Clinton won he would get on his blog and urge Blacks not to vote for her in the general election. I thought that someone in the media would mention this but they totally ignored it. They refused to ever ask Obama any hard questions. I rarely watch them any more.

ABC has been better than CNN and MSNBC....except for some of the very slanted visuals. For instance the big play you gave to the "Tonya Harding" comparison and the many stories that were really non-stories that seemed to be intent on proving Hillary was dishonest. It seems like ya'll have given almost as much play to Bill Clinton's 10 year old affair as to Obama's long term association and influence of Rev Wright. For instance anyone that was not paying close attention to the race would not understand that Rev Wright was making these outrageous sermons as late as Dec 2007 at the same time he was on Obama's campaign. Actually I doubt from reading ya'll that most people would know how close the Rev and Obama were until recently.

Although ABC started to cover Rezko through your Investigative journalist...you have never given it the coverage it deserves.

I assume Fox is waiting to drop this into the General Electon. The very questionable Obama-Rezko home purchase took place in 2005....Obama has lied on countless occasions on the record about his relationship with Rezko...the mainstream press is surpressiing the story. If it would have been about Clinton it would be big news. If it was McCain it would be big news.

By validating Obama's victimization /race characterization of the Wright story all of the mainstream media have done America a great disservice. This is a judgement issue that has never been truly addressed by anyone but Fox.

Mark Penn was a front page story here for a long time...the recent firing of Obama's advisers gets very little play. What's up with that?

I also think that most MSM have failed to qualify when their are blogs and stories written by Obama supporting journalists.

I noticed here that one of your embedded journalists was constantly slanting her stories to demean Clinton...I got better information at Fox...for instance the day that Hillary invited striking truckers into her economic summit your reporter seemed to miss that detail in her coverage.

I am highly resentful that Obama was given a 1 hour time slot for his race speech when Hillary was trying to cover economic issues that week and ya'll simply cut her off. This speech was nothing but political pandering and an attempt to distract people from the real issue....It worked only because the MSM were complicit in making it effective.

Are there FCC rules that allow major networks to give free coverage to one candidate and not give the other equal time? If so, you have all violated these restrictions.

Posted by: Jackie | May 14, 2008 12:47:29 AM

Why is it all these supposed serious media professionals are not only pro-Obama but happy to admit that they are so? Seriously, they are an embarrassment to journalists everywhere and have succeeded in making a mockery of this election.

Isn't funny how Clinton Chair, Terry McAuliffe, praises Fox News and says 90% of the Media is in the Tank for Obama and how the Clintonites jump up, grab it, and run around waving it in the wind hoping everyone will believe it!! Fox has always been PRO Hilliary, isn't Murdock the owner? And isn't he a big donor to the Clinton campaign? He's an advisor too, isn't he? So, of course, Fox is PRO Clinton. McAuliffe is spewing crapola again...Hilliary and her campaign are very good at doing this. ALL the media was all about Hilliary when they annointed her as the "inevitable nominee" and "the shoe-in" We hardly ever heard of Senator Obama. Senator Obama beat her big time in Iowa and Hilliary and Bill just could not take it...remember Bill getting all red-faced and wagging his finger with anger and putting down Senator Obama! Bill was out of control, enraged, and brought out the race card in NH and then again in North Carolina. In between, Hilliary, her campaign, and her surrogates were out there literally using the race card and belittling Senator Obama on a personal basis. It wasn't about issues anymore; the Clintons wanted to fight, and fight dirty they did. Hilliary lied, lied, and lied, so did Bill, and the campaign. We all saw plainly what the Clintons were doing and it turned a lot of us against them for their dirty tactics!! Her mismanagement of her campaign funds factored in as well as it showed a woman of incompetence and NO integrity; one who would do anything, say anything, and throw anything to win. Many of us lost total respect for her and Bill. Hilliary's continued bashing of Senator Obama now that he is only about 150 delegates away from the magic number shows just how evil and self-obsorbed she is....with her, it's all about Hilliary! Frankly, she does not care about her party, the USA, or the people. She pays lipservice to get your votes, otherwise you mean nothing to her. Just look at the way she describes the voters in NH!! "Hardworking Americans, WHITE Americans, harding working Americans with LESS THAN A COLLEGE DEGREE, who want me" Okay, all you uneducated, illiterate, and ignorant white hardworking Americans, how do you feel about how she has portrayed you to the entire USA and the rest of world. She is calling you uneducated, illiterate, and ignorant!! She is also saying the rest of us are LAZY nogoods since we do not fit into her "WHITE" hardworking Americans and into the less with college degree bracket. Is that woman divisive and destructive??? You bet she is! Definitely NOT POTUS and CIC material!!

More of the Hilliary campaign spin, nothing more, nothing less. Guess they don't get it; we are tired of your many lies and of your whimpering. Poor Hilliary, is playing the "POOR HILLIARY" CARD again@@

I have blocked MSNBC from the TV's in my home. I will never forget the way its talking heads once fawned over #43, and I believe that Russert and Matthews are shallow, uninformed, and incapable of logical discourse.

Clinton is the best candidate and would do great things for America. However, the four horsemen of the Democratic Party apocalypse. namely, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean. and Oprah (or is it Brazile) have decided that the American people have not suffered enough so they found another shallow "uniter not a divider" for us. (I personally hope that MA, a state that voted for HRC,decides to retire Kerry and Kennedy.)

If Hillary is not the nominee, I will vote for McCain because he is a better candidate than Obama. He is a veteran, has years of experience, and loves America. (His wife also loves America.)
Enough is enough.

Speaking of Rev Wright....does anyone else find it curious that he has seemingly dissappeared into thin air?
This loud mouthed, self righteous idiot couldn't be shut up for days on end. He hardly seemed the type to just go away giving O the last word. And yet, after affording O the opportunity to disown him after his tirade, he has willingly left the stage. Notice the in the tank for O media has "put that baby to bed". I don't normally subscribe to conspiracy theories, but the timing of his appearance and disappearance seems very convenient for O. Something stinks here.

Hillsry lost this race at 3 corners:

1-SC. because the whole world knows Hillary had more black support than Obama. She CLEARLY had the black elite, clergy and politicians behind her. So SC turned a corner.
2-Skipping the smaller states. Had she not been so cocky and self entitled, she would NOT have ignored those states and she could be ahead if not tied with him. Now, she is forced to go to the WI. WV. and others, so being thinking she was entitled to the throne turned a corner.
3-Her and him (Hill and Bill) turning to conservative media! What the hell is all that about? It is a slap in the face for her to chat it up with the enemy, when it is the enemy that was plotting to bring both her and him down. Turning to those blow hearts netted Obama more delegates in one week than at any time before....

There are other instances the main being MONEY MISMANAGEMET but you all get the point. Anyway, it's of no use now to blame the media. In fact, I'm getting read tired of the blaming the media when things look bad but laughing it up when things are in her favor.....

Posted by: Charles | May 13, 2008 11:28:30 PM

90% only?!!
Where's the 10% for Hillary? I have yet to find one outlet pro-Hillary, the shameful way that all talking heads are in the tank for the "Incandescent One".
From Obama Central at MSNBO with Chris "tingle-up-my-leg" Matthews and Keith Obamaman, the frauds at CNN, etc.
Wasn't the media supposed to be impartial?
They are not for Hillary at FOX, they just have better material with Obama.

Posted by: dyer2 | May 13, 2008 11:13:59 PM

Okay. So let's be clear FOX blew it on the madrassa deal. BUT--it'snot true OBAMA was never a MUSLIM. After all, in his own autobiography he talks about geeting in trouble for "making faces during Koranic Studies". His sister was quoted in the NYT as saying "My whole family was Muslim. Everyone we knew was Muslim" and in "Obama: Man of the World" by Nicholas Kristof he relates hoe Obama can recite the Islamic call to prayer in "perfectly accented Arabic".
Y'll--wake up--they don't speak ARABIC in INDONESIA. Now, according to JakeT. Obama visited Pakistan in 1981 (when it was illegal for a US citizen to do so). So what's up with that???
It's simply NOT TRUE as Obama has repeatedly stated that he was NEVER a MUSLIM. He was. ---According to his own autobiography.

One of the pillars of democracy is freedom of expression which is supposed to be fairness of information and the media has not shown this along the campaign. Worst the media tries to prevent the process of democracy by sealing the nomination of OBI while he doesn't have the number of delegates required yet and 6 more states have to express their vote next. Where is independence of information?
This will stay in history as the worst example of non democracy. Don't talk about hope and change. This election process has shown the obscure face of the american society.
How to explain this? Is money buying OBI his nomination?
Is sexism prevailing while everyone tries to show that racism is over with by pushing forth a black candidate?
Is this the way the Democrat party deals with people and hopes to unite the party? Very sad indeed.

Oh please! This race was over after Texas and Ohio but did the "mainstream media report how daunting trhe math was for Clinton? NO! They kept on reporting like it was still a race. You Clinton supporters go ahead, vote for McCain, you likely voted for Bush anyway. Go ahead, keep being the "stupid" vote Hllary so lavishly boasts of.

Posted by: Matt | May 13, 2008 10:43:30 PM

Okay. For the logically challenged: If we assume that all politicians are liars, and that both Clinton and Obama have lied (although history reveals Obama as a much more transparent and forthright person than the Clintons), shall we set aside lying as a wash? What's the next excuse for a supposed Democrat not voting for Obama?

Posted by: Patriot | May 13, 2008 10:41:05 PM

I am so disgusted with the turn Keith Olbermann has taken against Hillary and also with Mika Brezinski, who is a hateful witch.
Hillary, don't give up, here in Chi-town, we know the other shoe is gonna fall on Obama and it is called the Illinois Combine.

Duh? I, too, have quit watching MSNBC and CNN. They are in the entertainment business, not news, and I am not entertained.

Ksren:

If you're looking for Obama's bloopers,,
read "Obama's laundry list of lies" right here on the web!

There were about 70 of them last time I looked about a month ago... and they're all "fact:checked".

Enjoy!

Big business owns the media, folks. Now why would big business go totally out of their way to constantly point out the negatives of Senator Clinton? Because she is truly the one who will fight the stranglehold big business has on our government. Barack Obama's "grass roots" donations make up only 46% of his total donations. Where did the rest come from? Big business! Wake up! Hillary and McCain voted against the Bush/Cheney energy bill, written by the oil companies behind close doors and giving billions in tax breaks to the energy companies. Barack Obama voted for it! Wake up!
