Conservatives Hammer Obama for Meeting With Imam Who Also Met with Pope & Bush
May 19, 2008 10:41 AM
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is being hammered on conservative websites for meeting with a Detroit imam, Sayed Hassan Al-Qazwini though that same Muslim religious leader has met with the Pope and even been embraced -- figuratively and literally by President George W. Bush.
Supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, are pushing this meeting as well.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Conservatives Hammer Obama for Meeting With Imam Who Also Met with Pope & Bush:
1. So what if Sen. Obama can't win white racists and illiterates to his side? There is a such thing as losing with honor.
2. Mrs. Clinton has surged by using Rove-like slanders against Obama. Big deal.
3. Hillary dems are faced with a choice- turn out for Sen. Obama, or have a 3rd term of W. Simple choice.

They would say that, wouldn't they?
The so-called conservatives writing ooh! ooh! posts about this would be much, much happier is everyone stauck with 'their own kind' and never ever talked to anyone who was 'different'.
Which of course is the point of view of almost all toddlers. I'm just sayin'....

I really wonder when Obama had a meeting with this character? Was it on the campaign trail? Obama was only in Iraq once surely he didn't go messing around with foreign policy before he had voted as a US Senator on any issue.
It is a dangerous world...it's not fear mongering to be concerned with who should be commander-in-chief.

I'm just not sure why there wasn't more outrage that Jimmy Carter is meeting with Hamas....I really don't feel too safe with Obama meeting with anyone...
Bush never had my vote and I think he's terrible on foreign policy. But Obama really talks like he doesn't have a clue. One of the worst disasters in Kennedy's presidency was his foolhardy meeting with Kruchev....than's what got us the Cold War and brought us to the brink of nuclear diseaster.
Obama's analysis that meeting with Iran without preconditions is somehow equivalent to Nixon meeting with China after years of bartering and negotiating on other levels is really not a fair comparison.
Anyone that has ever negotiated should really think about Obama's so called foreign policy plan.
And even though I don't care for Bush I think that NBC's editing the President's recent interview is beyond contempt.

Why can't you stick to the subject matter. There is a ridiculous assertion that Obama is meeting with characters no one else will. This article proves it to be a LIE. As a catholic, I trust the pope and if Obama shares the vision of meeting with moderate people I'm for that.
As far as Michelle Obama is concerned, she is NOT fair game especially since she explained that statement!
For the record, I don't C. McCain is fair game either

Bush, McCain and Hillary can do the same thing that Obama may do, but their white and have "more experience" so it's different some how.
Obama '08!

"Well last I checked Pres. Bush and the Pope are not running."
What bit does that matter? If you're morally outraged at the idea of an American leader meeting with an imam, it shouldn't be of any concern whether they're already elected or in the process.

"obama is only there because of black support. had he been a white, we would not have even heard of him. the guy is UNELECTABLE"
You wish he were, don't you?

Michelle did not say " I've never been proud of america " and intelligent people know it. These self-important liars continue to play dishonest political games all the while are troops remain stuck in Irag, the country still doesn't provide affordable healthcare to it's citizens, the deficit being piled on future generations grows by the hour, etc... NOW THAT'S UN-AMERICAN.

"Michelle Obama's i've-never-been-proud-of-America comments are game, when you consider that they reflect an attitude toward America most colorfully set out by Rev. Wright, whose church Obama sat in for 20 years.
obama is only there because of black support. had he been a white, we would not have even heard of him. the guy is UNELECTABLE"
I start to feel proud about this country until I read comments like this.

Michelle Obama said exactly what a large segment of this country say and think. I'm with her. I love my birth home. I'm an ex-Army wife. I was born and raised here, but I'm not blind to the injustices and racism that keeps us from actually being the greatest country on earth. And for that we should all be ashamed!
But I am SO proud of our citizens who have put aside racial phobias to vote for a man who genuinely cares about PEOPLE, not oil and self interests. He has an impressive history. He has the type of experience that makes for a good leader!
When I first heard Obama was going to run, I started reading and learned what I could about the man.
It's easy to pick out the people who didn't. The crazy comments here prove this.

Iranian Human Rights activist Banafsheh Zand Bonazzi wrote to add this on the meeting:
Here we have one of the most unnoticed Mullah promoters, someone who is allegedly a member of the Mullahs secret agent network (VEVAK), now living in the U.S. and said to be working in brainwashing people in Dearborn, on behalf of the terrorist regime of Iran, meeting with Obama. I would bet my bottom dollar that he has a message from his presumed bosses in Tehran for this Democrat candidate. But how come this isn't being reported more widely?! At least JT is reporting this! Obama's connections to Rashid Khalidi and the late Edward Said are really going to get the Republicans going, and any American worried about the security of our nation from terrorists. Remember, Osama bin Laden promised to destroy us from within.

Some of the comments here are really rediculous. Come on people! Whether you are Republican or Democrat, obviously you wouldn't have so many top leaders enthusiastically supporting each of the contenders if they weren't all qualified to be President. Those who make rediculously inaccurate comments on these blogs about Obama (or any of the candidates) just show the rest of us how uninformed you are. This isn't a game. This is about making America strong at home and abroad. This is about our future and our children's future. I listen to all the candidates speak - do you? I read what all of them have written themselves not what pundits have written about them - do you? I seek the truth not lies and political spins made to confuse voters - do you? If you don't (which I'm guessing many of you don't) then may I suggest that you get on each candidates website and listen to them giving their own speeches. Listen carefully and then decide. Seek the truth not lies.
I am a very proud, enthusiastic, confident and informed supporter of Barack Obama. We will be lucky to have someone like him be our President. He is NOT a Muslim, he is VERY patriotic, and he is HONEST, SMART, and an incredible Leader of the People! That's you and me folks. Take some time to find out why 75,000 people showed up to hear him speak in Oregon yesterday. I'm excited for you to discover the truth - you'll be pretty happy when you do because the future looks a whole lot brighter!

McCain is having too many "senior moments." And along with his history of cancer compounded by his old age, I think this guy is more ready for the old folks home than he is for the presidency. I'm looking at TV now and I see him standing there with his new BBF: traitor Lieberman. What a pair: I can see them in their rocking chairs now tell "war stories" as they are being fed by a patient nurse.

Obama's slip about traveling to 57 states.
If you include our territories there are 57 states and territories,
Is that the best youve got ?

The fact that you say Hillary and Republicans have joined together to attack Obama is NEWS. The substance thereof is just as interesting.
We are acting like one of our rights is not the freedom of religion and no religious test. We are failing the framers.
We are failing ourselves.

LATEST POLITICAL NEWS ITEM
It was just reported that Clinton has removed herself from the presidential race after her campaign officials reached an agreement with officials of Obama‘s campaign.. Pursuant to the agreement, Obama and Hillary will conduct joint fund raisers in order to help retire Hillary’s campaign debt. Current law prohibits Obama from making direct donations from his own campaign coffers on the theory that those donors made their donations to be used to promote the election of Obama, not Ms. Clinton. When Hillary was first informed of the agreement, she peed in her latest pair of pantsuits. No problem, she said, they were her favorite gold color pantsuit.

Spock, we're already in a recession. On Bush's watch. Just like 9/11 (which they had intelligence of)happened on Bush's watch. Katrina repsonse- his watch. Provided great cover for his dreams for Iraq. All his fat rat cronies cried tears all the way to the bank. Worst President Ever.

Well last I checked Pres. Bush and the Pope are not running. An as far as the Pope, well that is what he is suppose to do!
Nothing wrong with McCain being like Pres. Bush, Under Bush and the Republican congress we had 7 years of unprecedented Growth, low un-employment, safer at home.
Then the dems got Congress and Fuel costs, Food Costs went up, un-employment went up and we entered a economics slow down. So anyone voting for a Democrat must want us to go into a depression and be attacked again!!

I love it when Michelle Obama is attacked by the GOP and it is even better when they talk about how Obama is going to raise taxes and he is not prepared to run this nation. Don't think if Obama pushes McCain too hard that Obama's spiritual mentor will not come up again. This thing has just gotten started. Got to love the GOP

Leslie post: “I wish the Obama would stop being nice to Clinton..”
Did you ever see Obama been nice to Clinton? Watching one hour of his speech one month ago, I thought he was a republican. He complainted more Clinton’s policy than GOP.

This guy is nuts.
Is still just a Jr Senator.
Is he trying to get us killed already?
He has nerve and stepping over his bounds.
No way should this man be president.
Such a dangerous fool

Saying the Pope is wrong for meeting with someone guarantees McCain will have a hard time with Catholic voters.
Between this article and McCain's close relationship with Hagee, McCain will have significant problems with Catholic voters like me.
Posted by: Dan | May 19, 2008 11:17:41 AM
I wish the Obama would stop being nice to Clinton. They obviously have their own destructive agenda. Its sad, silly and low. However, they have lost due to poor strategy and this just feeds right into it.
Posted by: leslie | May 19, 2008 11:17:08 AM
So now Obama says if wife is off limits?
Who does he think he is? Should we all bow down now or later? She certainly is
fair game. The media and Obama campaign all slaughter Bill and Hillary. The best is yet to come!! I will never ever vote for him. Don't trust him nor his wife or friends.

You don't expect republicans to be fair and balanced, do you? Silly person, neo-cons are hypocrites. They never say as they do, they only want you to do as they say.
