ElectionJournal.Org Documents Obama Electioneering at Indiana Precinct
May 06, 2008 2:48 PM
Electionjournal.org bills itself as "an online community dedicated to raising public awareness of vote fraud and election irregularities."
Best as I can tell, that means it attempts to use citizens themselves to record and report possible voting problems. An organic mélange of media, citizenry, community, and watchdog.
Today a citizen reported that at the Crooked Creek Baptist Church in Washington Township at about 10:15 AM they "noticed an Obama volunteer had set-up directly across from the voter check-in table. We noticed that she was actively speaking to voters. The sign on the table stated 'Trouble Voting? Talk to me.' and 'Obama for America.' She wouldn’t identify herself and directed us to call the campaign for information. We contacted the County Clerk’s Office and they stated they would contact the Polling Inspector to investigate."
You can watch the video HERE.
The Obama campaign confirms this happened and has apologized.
"A volunteer and credentialed watcher made a mistake and took a sign into the polling booth that was meant for the appropriate place outside of the polling place," said spox Bill Burton. "The sign has been taken down, and we apologized to the election workers for the mistake."

I hope it goes just as posted below
Someone else has had large crowds and numbers similiar to Obama's and look what it got them and the same will happen if Obama is the nominee.

election fraud? how bout bush? this is hardly fraud. oh he cant get the white vote? i live in wisconsin. he won minnesota and idaho and iowa. oh yeah he is winning on the "black vote" blacks are less then 20% of the american population. Wisconsin is 44% white catholic too isnt that clintons country?

Obama's problems are just beginning. Many Hillary supporters will definitely vote for McCain. The Democratic Party ain't what it used to be!
Posted by: ncjack | May 7, 2008 9:12:57 PM
THE SUPER-DELEGATES SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE EXIT POLLING. IF OBAMA CANT GET THE WHITE VOTE, HE CANT GET THE WHITEHOUSE. NO AMOUNT OF AA'S, EGGHEADS AND NEW VOTERS CAN COMPETE WITH THE HUGE BLOC OF WHITE, LATINO,S SENIORS, AND JOE LUNCH BUCKET VOTERS IN THE GENERAL ELECTION. AS SOON AS OBAMA GETS THE NOMINATION HE LOSES, AND SO DOES THE DEM. PARTY.

Obama cannot win in November. It's that simple. I beleive now that the Democratic party does not want to win this year. Obama is being sent to slaughter. His wright issue will not go away it will only loom larger. He has managed to Divide the Democratic party along race and economic lines.
The great uniter umm.. where have I heard that before?????
He has convinvced this lifelong democrat, who has always voted a straight democratic ticket that the party is now obsolete.
Everyone who disagrees with Obama is automatically labled racist. I happen to come from a mixed family. I treasure our oneness. Obama's change would be one of division for my family.
There is no way that the divider can unite this party.
If Obama is given the nod (keep in mind that neither can achieve the number needed without help) My vote goes for McCain. As does all 10 members of my family. There will be no uniting under Obama because there are those who will cling to their guns, their religion and antipathy towards those who are not like them. There is no clearer statement that he is in lock step with the Rev mentor, political adviser, than that. Not to mention Michelles extremem hate towards anything white.

You mean to tell me that someone from Chicago is involved with election fraud? I am shocked. Obama is an empty suit. But I will give him this much...he says nothing very well.
Posted by: Not Surprised | May 7, 2008 3:48:35 PM
I wish someone could tell me why they are voting for Obama, and actually tell me something other then He's for change, He's uniting people, He's making history. That just doesn't make sense to me...My fear is that he has made it to where he is only because of his speeches, if you pay attention he doesn't really say what his plan is, by doing this he then isn't responsible forgetting nothing done. I think Jeremiah Wright is baiting people to vote for Obama by saying blacks are oppressed and the guilty people will vote for Obama to prove Wright wrong. There is no way Obama doesn't believe in Wrights words, he should, its his pastor, his mentor, his friend, his FATHER FIGURE. I am going to vote for McCain if Obama wins for the Democrats. I think people are forgetting that this is a game, republicans don't want Hillary against McCain so they are crossing over to vote for Obama and then when its Obama vs McCain, they will jump back to McCain. People are blind.

This is nothing in comparison to what Clay was doing last night. How many early voter ballots did he manage to sneak into the process before CNN literally forced him to release his election results 6 HOURS after the election ended?
Dirty Chicago Politics!

I also have been a Democrat my whole life...have been disappointed before...BUT...never like this! If Obama is GIVEN the nomination, we shouldn't vote for McCain, we shouldn't just stay home, we should start a WRITE IN HILLARY CAMPAIGN!!!!! She could probably still beat McCain that way!!
Posted by: Joyce | May 7, 2008 12:40:10 PM
What I sadly learned from the outcome of of the May 6th primaries is that Rev Wright's Trinity United church has a lot more than 7,000 members. This is a bad example for future political races.
Posted by: rob | May 7, 2008 11:41:59 AM
Why wouldn't Obama cheat? He's already seen to it, by his nomination hold, that the FEC is unable to get a quorom and is therefore completely ineffective in policing election irregularities. His plan is to keep the vacancy until he wins (in his mind, the only possible outcome) and when, in 2011, the FEC finally says he cheated, it will be a Friday night press release that no network news organization will cover.
Posted by: Dave H | May 7, 2008 11:24:10 AM
Are you kidding me? The OBAMA table was actually INSIDE the building and the poll inspectors did nothing until someone brought it to their attention???? Wish the video camera could have picked up on someone seeking their advice. How blatantly arrogant. Had this been a McCain or Clinton table, all eyebrows would have been raised immediately - and it would have been all over CNN.
Posted by: mrje | May 7, 2008 10:45:48 AM
I cannot beleive this! A politial operative sets up a table in the wrong place by a few yards and it's labled election fraud?!?!? Are you people crazy? Don't you remeber what the GOP did in Ohio when they called dem voters and told them to go to the polls on the day after the election. Or how about the CEO of Dibold telling a shre holders meeting that they would give Ohio to GWB? How about the robo calls from Women Voting in NC telling people not to vote for a black man.
I cannot beleive that you people equate a mis-placed table with this criminal activity. This is the same logic that speculates the if his middle name if Hussein he muxt be a muslim.
If ANY of you, wheter for Obama or Hillary, are so blinded by your petty nit picking that you cannot not see the cirminality of the last administration and the promise of more of the same from John McCain why does any of this bother you.
You should be out there campaigning for John. Cheering his plan for an even more conservative judiciary, 100 more years in Iraq, war with Iran, and the complete sell out of this countries treasure to the Chinese government.
WAKE UP!!!

The enormous racism on this site is amazing. Go ahead and don't like Obama, but say stupid stuff. It is not what Hillary would want.
Burning down cities? Only way to win is cheat? Just because they are Black?
Please.
Posted by: BIG RICH | May 7, 2008 12:58:32 AM
I've been a Democrat all of my life, but will NOT vote for Barack Obama!!! Never!!! In fact, I will work very hard against him. He lies, cheats and is associated with criminals and a minister who is anti-American!
There is proof that the caucauses in Texas were ruled by Obama's people and tonight's election in Indiana...Lake county to be specific...was so rigged that Obama should be ashamed to accept the win. Even the black mayor of Gary was in on it!
This is what happens when you deal with blacks. The only way they know how to win is to cheat.
Posted by: Ginger | May 7, 2008 12:43:19 AM
Cheaters! Election stealers, wait til the general election and we will see if Obama is the nominee and such things happen will they still be telling everyone to just get over it?

Hello,
I am a Hillary supporter, and will not vote for Obama. With a heavy heart I will cast my vote for McCain.
As to Michigan and Florida? Split the delegates by the percentages, and in Michigan, give all the delegates to Hillary, who chose to run in the state, rather than Obama, who did not. Why should he get credit for delegates in a state where he did not run?
Posted by: Daniel | May 6, 2008 10:45:37 PM
As if the obama supporters have not been trained in attempting to run caucuses isn't enough they have ot go into polling places to get there candidate elected. What kind of bs do you guys expect when all you do is complain if your candidate does not win a caucus I am from El Paso and OBAMA LOST THE CAUCUS HERE GO HILLARY!!! And if that is not enough a stupid lawyer here had to file a lawsuit to say that it was not fair for his candidate to lose this and so is filing a court case because it was not fair.
Posted by: marty | May 6, 2008 8:36:41 PM
I don't like the path that Democratic Party is going down, it is becoming to liberal for me. I will not vote for Obama in the fall. I used to like John McCain, but he has gone to far right. I can only hope Hillary Clinton can somehow win the nom or run as a independent.
Posted by: Jim | May 6, 2008 6:58:20 PM
For all Hillary supporters that keep using the reference to Ayers and the Weather Underground refrences...please do not utilize that selective memory and try to forget the Clinton pardon of one such Weather Underground criminal and the commuted sentence of another. That would put Clinton at setting two terrorists free and Obama only having associated with one. If you are pretending to be so outraged over his association with him, how can you not be equally if not more disappointed in the great Clinton dynasty for letting two of the same folks go? He "pardoned" them, meaning he forgave them of their sins and you are all fine with that? I suppose this is the same selective memory that lets sniper fire pass rather than a casual stroll across a tarmac. And one more note...if you claim to be ready on day one, how do you even allow for someone who was given no chance to somehow blow by you and take the lead? Sounds like someone in a very deep sleep at 3a.m. to me. Only when she saw the nomination slip away did she wake up and start working this hard...and that is what you want for a President? Someone who only starts working when they put themselves deep into a hole. How comforting.

to jayhawk ; do NOT twist facts: according to Dem Party decision. This is the one and only, who makes it.
Sure, they do not consider Clinton as a lawmaker.

To Cats Face: If you are a true Obama supporter, you should stop imitating the Weather Underground or other terrorist organizations, as there are laws in this country preventing candidates from inciting riots, and you wouldn't want Obama brought up on federal charges, would you?

The real truth
The blacks will burn down cities if the super delegates don't nominate Obama now.
Who can you thank for the black problem. Why no other than the Kennedy's and the Democrats.
No other race is a problem in this country except for the blacks
Posted by: cats face | May 6, 2008 6:06:57 PM
Granted it wasn't Obama it was one of his surrogates, but I guess thats what elitist, educated supporters do ha? Think they are smarter than everyone else and think they can fly by right underneath everyones noses.
Posted by: mona | May 6, 2008 6:01:19 PM
I think superdelegates have to consider that most Obama won were from caucuses. Caucuses didn't present the whole pictures of willing of people. Most caucuses are political activist that most likely for Obama.... and I wonder if those activist most likely ex-weather underground people.
Obama cannot claimed he is a winner if his winning by caucuses.
Posted by: jrmapu | May 6, 2008 5:55:56 PM
Connie,
The "reasonable distance" seems to vary with the different states. Surely, no one should be obstructing your path into the voting place. That would not be a reasonable distance. As I said, it seems to vary with the state.
Posted by: countallthevotes | May 6, 2008 5:48:49 PM
This is a blatant violation of voting protocol and any rookie would know that. This Obama person was trained, I assure you. She was there under the auspices of "assisting." I would consider her a "voting observer" for Obama. I was such for John Kerry in Florida. You are trained for this and instructed (hopefully) that you are not to wear or display any signage for any candidate, unless you are at a certain reasonable distance. Further you simply cannot be allowed to set up shop in the voting place.
I have no idea how this ever happened since the voting moderators at that poll surely knew better.

In Arlington, Texas, park on the parking lot directly in front of the door to the elementary school where my brother voted were two Hillary supporters with chair and t-shirt as well as sign.
Sometimes people do things due to lack of knowledge not because they are deliberately attempting to do things wrong. And I am an Obama supporter.

Aheemm...It's called FRAUD.
Something the Obitter camp has done NUMEROUS times in Cacus states. Ever wonder why he usually wins those???

Hillary does not represent my values. I am a college educated single father with two kids (ages 8 and 10), who can see through Hillary’s smoking mirrors. Hillary Clinton is an ELITIST. She has become like The Pied Piper of Hamelin...where many voters follow her without question...not realizing that she's driving them towards the abyss.
Regarding Michigan and Florida, 50% of the delegates per candidate is reasonable and fair. Everyone knew the rules and agreed upon them before the game started. All of the candidates knew the rules. All of the states knew the rules. Suddenly, in the middle or near the end of the game, because Hillary is not winning, certain people want to change the rules.
We, the people of the United States, have a moral obligation to maintain such rules that were agreed upon by everyone. If we change the rules now, what are we teaching our children? Let’s play the game fair. Majority wins.

Rick,
Your experience voting today is truly sad.
Posted by: sherr | May 6, 2008 5:20:54 PM
The point is that the activity is illegal. Had it not been pointed out by someone who was concerned, it would have continued all day. This is so similar to what happened in caucus after caucus. Fortunately, Indiana is a vote state and so the "win at all costs" Obama campaign can only tamper so much. Thank God! Maybe Bill Ayers can blow up the polling places that don't turn out in his favor ....

Keep drinking that Obama Kool-Aid cause it is doing wonders for you. If this was a Hillary supporter, you would be all over the issue. Do you really believe Obama does not know these things have and are going on.
Posted by: Steve Moore | May 6, 2008 5:10:54 PM
Well, what better would you expect from the obama campaign. He already stated he is in this race to win, and win he is going to try - however - - -
Obama is a fraud along with his campaign. What a fraud.
Now his followers will of course, blame Hillary Clinton.
I fail to understand how obama can brainwash so many people. Why? I cannot find the answer because I have to believe that people are not easily led - however the obama followers are being led like lemmings.
Posted by: Lou | May 6, 2008 5:02:43 PM
Sure it's about Obama. It's about one staffer in one location getting caught pretty early in the day with a poster she was meant to place outside at her table inside. It's about Obama, upon finding out about it, instantly correcting the situation and taking responsibility for it.
But you guys act like a ring of Obama backing mob enforcers were caught mugging hundreds of Clinton voters on the way to the polls.
It's an Obama issue, but it's pretty darn small comparing to the "Aha, Gotcha!!" responses on this board.
I mean, it's not like he's trying to get votes counted that he agreed wouldn't count in writing and in recorded statements, using public attacks to spin the ban on these votes into some sort of mythical disenfranchisement (which he agreed to) and smear his own party just to get delegates from an elegal election where his competitor's names weren't even on the ballot or anything.
I mean, cause then, there would be some sort of outcry about fraud and stealing the election if a candidate did something like that, right?
Try to put things in perspective, folks.
Posted by: fontapa | May 6, 2008 4:51:55 PM
First of all, the reponsibility to ensure no electioneering within a given distance of a polling place resides with the moderator / polling director. Both campaigns have been guilty of this offense and in most cases it was due to lack of knowledge and oversight. When I voted in NH Bill Clinton and his secret service was standing less than 20 feet from the entrance, blocking my path. When I requested that they move to the marked 200 foot zone, they looked at me as if I had two heads. I requested that the moderator move them to the appropriate distance and as I left they were having a discussion. I don't know if he ever moved but the point is that he should have known better.

Women got the right to vote AFTER AA men! Women fought hard for the right and women are not about to let some whiny, mob backed, wimpy Con artist steal the nomination from the American people! Our enemies have always said "we will destroy you from within" and maybe this is exactly what they meant. The cheating and intimidation in the caucus states should be investigated. Obama is not winning this election legally.

Posted by: carnival | May 6, 2008 4:38:16 PM
The DNC is guilty of election fraud by stacking the schedule in favor of Obama and disenfranchising voters in MI and FL. They did not punish SC and NV and they allowed IA and NH to move their dates up more than once to ensure they voted first. NH and NV backfired on them but their remaining early state caucus schedule worked as planned. To their dismay, voters are coming out against Obama in great numbers since TX, OH, and RI races. The centrist democrats are fighting hard to win back control of the party. I hope we dont have to have another landslide loss in the GE for that to happen.
Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 4:37:07 PM
How about when Chelsea brought coffee and donuts into the voting headquarters in a previous state? I guess you consider that ok, huh? Sounds like a bribe to me...quite whinning Hillary supporters...

Rick...just be glad you have the right to vote...AA as you call them didn't have that right for a long long time...stop complaining...
Posted by: carnival | May 6, 2008 4:33:18 PM
Unlike some people, I am not afraid of riots in the streets. If people choose to violate our laws and riot because they are unhappy with Clinton becoming the nominee, let them be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I will not be intimidated by them. Strong-arm tactics like that are the same as terrorist tactics. Sadly, there are plenty of posters here who act like them. Stop the extreme left wing liberals and the right wing of TUCC from taking control of our government - vote for Clinton.
Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 4:32:01 PM
Rick,
I can understand how you and your son felt at that moment.
All we can say is just stay away from any situation like that but because you were in the line, you guys just had to face it.
Also think about this issue.
Many times police officer shot a suspect on the scene.
If the officer was white and the suspect was white , that would be no protest but if the sucpect is AA, that would be lots of problems, riot, protest would happen.
This happened many times in my city.
Does it mean we always have to lose to AA? Is this affect to election?
Posted by: blue Irish | May 6, 2008 4:27:04 PM
To Vicki
THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN !
Posted by: Steve Moore | May 6, 2008 4:25:23 PM
Vicki - Obama and Clinton have almost identical voting records. On the 40 votes they differed since 2005 in the US Senate, Obama voted in favor of the republicans. Nice try - no cigar.
Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 4:24:40 PM
H. Clinton's voting record has been more like a republican than a Democrat. She seems to think that her Bush like qualities will be well regarded. The last thing America needs is another republican, someone who acts like a republican, or someone who thinks like a republican. It is time for honor, integrity, truth and justice to replace corruption, lies, evil and hate. That will require Barrack Obama as president.
Posted by: Vicki | May 6, 2008 4:23:22 PM
The polls say Hillary is the toughest match for McCain. NEVER has their been such a liberal as Obama been elected Preident. The last 8 out of 10 elections FOR PREIDENT WERE WON BY REPUBLICANS. What do you think makes more sense in a country that votes historically center right? Clinton is is a little left of center, or Obama is is so far left he's off the map?
Look at the recent polls. Reps. fear Clinton more. She is fierce and tenacious and can stand up to the GOP.
Posted by: Debra | May 6, 2008 4:12:47 PM
I just voted about an hour ago here in NC. There was an AA man ahead of me trying to vote and an AA man and woman behind me. The man ahead of me gave an address that wasn’t even in the ZIP CODE of my precinct, poll worker sent him over to another area they had set up for either provisionals or to find out where his correct precinct was. The whole time the elderly poll worker was trying to explain to the man what he needed to do, the man behind me was loudly critical of the whole process and indignant. When it came my turn the lady said, as she was saying to everyone how are you today? The man behind me said in the nastiest most sarcastic mimicking way “how are you today, fine thank you”. I came so close to telling him how rude I thought he was. Don’t know if he was a supporter of BO, but given the kind of behavior I have experienced on line, it wouldn’t surprise me. I have voted at the same polling place for years and have never seen this kind of behavior from anyone before, nor have I ever seen anyone be at the wrong polling place.
My son who voted 30 minutes after me had a similar experience with an AA woman in front of the line with him, she hadn’t changed her address when she moved into this area so she wasnt in the books (how the heck did she even know to come to that poll? Asked her neighbor I guess). The lady told her she would have to go back to her old precinct and vote or she could vote provisional and she went off on the poll worker and made a comment after my son went through, you let him go through because he was white! and my son rolled his eyes and the AA woman went off on him!!! “don’t you roll your eyes at me…”!!!
What is wrong with these people? Being AA doesn’t entitle them to different rules from whites.
There was also an Obama person right at the entrance door, my son told the poll workers and they told him he would have to move the legal distance away….
I’m really dismayed by the attitude of some of these people. Surely they know the rules, the rules apply to everyone. If it was so important for them to vote, why didn’t they put a change of address in?
It’s always been fun going to vote, nice poll workers, nice people in line, even people I suspected were repubs, everyone got along. If this is more of the “unity” BO proclaims leave me out!!
It was without a doubt the weirdest experience I have ever encountered voting. It’s pretty disheartening to me.
Posted by: Rick | May 6, 2008 4:11:32 PM
Oh, Like Hillary has not cheated so far. What is this that I read they think cheating has occurred in New York because 70 districts not one vote for Obama came out of them. Yes, HIllary cheats. This he had no control over, if they did it would be in all voting places. Get over it Hillary people, your person is worse by far. It would not surprise me to know she cheated in PA also.

What a great way to put fear in people's minds. It's OK for the college kids or African Americans to be loud and rowdy...but we Hillary supporters will be strong and silently jump to McCain camp!

Hillary supporters must all be thugs like Hugh Rodham, Hillary's brother. You know the lawyer who was paid $400,000 to get people pardoned by Bill. I guess the folks who want Hillary are the crooked folks in the Democratic party. The ones who favor bribing for pardons, renting out bedrooms in the Whitehouse in exchange for campaign donations, chasing around young interns, you know the low brow of the party.

I'm concerned about a petition sent to the DNC by an organization called Color of Change calling the use of Superdelegate to vote as they were set up to vote (i.e., making up their own minds) "a dangerous game." Ironically, they state that this would "disenfranchise voters." Other disturbing words are used that sound at least vaguely threatening. This is worse than politics as usual.

Obama learned that trick when he visited Pakistan. that is his foreign policy experience

"that's downright mean."

I am a die-hard Hillary Clinton supporter. I participated in caucuses in Washington State. I have to say that the Obama supporters were completely civil here, which I believe is likely the case everywhere, so this case being reported on by Tapper is probably an exception. Clinton or Obama will prevail on the issues, not these kinds of sideshows.

Don't forget that Obama is a bad bowler, though.

Maybe there will be some more fraud cases with his caucus.

Usually happens because the volunteers don't realize it's a mistake. Happened with a few local races years back, now NYS has a 'distance' law on voting dar. The major campaigns have had this issue in other states. Next.......

I didn't know, is it illegal to set up a tent with signs advertising your candidate and try to get people to come over to you and try to get you to vote their way?
I voted in Williamsburg, VA and there was a tent, big Obama signs, and a volunteer right at the entrance to the school. She was trying to get people to talk to her about Obama.
Who knows the answer, because I'm curious now.

Oh the Obama campaign does a lot worse at party run caucuses. Good thing the state is there to intervene in primaries or the Obama camp would be grabbing ballots from little old ladies and marking them themselves.

That's just the way they do things in third world countries.

This sounds like the actions of one uninformed individual and not the Obama campaign.

Is Obama risking his life by running for President. We all know this country's past.

Amazing that Obama supporter/posters on this blog would make the case about Obama's campaign behavior.
According to what is posted here, the violation of federal law in Indiana is no big deal as the same behavior was actually quite common at caucuses and primaries throughout the campaign.
So, if a someone breaks the law enough times and gets away with it, then it is okay?
Only in Obamaland.

These things happen all the time. They're petty. During the Texas primary, we had to ask the election judge at our site to tell the Hillary supporters to stop electioneering within the legal distance from the doors to the school auditorium where voting was continuing. People make mistakes; not everyone knows the vast election laws in and out. There are a lot of new, young people in this campaign cycle, and we need to embrace them - not embarass them.
And, RSS - Obama isn't "stealing" the nomination from Hillary. If the 'INEVITABLE" Hillary can't win in an election year like this - then the American people must be tired of bush/clinton. If any "stealing" occurs, it would be if Hillary won by breaking DNC rules to count MI & FL. She's going to lose the popular vote and pledged delegate count. Get a clue. It was over at the end of the Potomac primaries. She's beating a dead horse.

Perhaps this speaks to the intelligence level of Obama supporters. An IQ slightly above "turnip" would let people understand that you can't push for your candidate *inside* the polling place.

He can act nicely and even all the commentators agree with that.
They just don't know he wears a mask.

Yes we can...commit voter fraud!
Posted by: Mack | May 6, 2008 3:28:51 PM
Obama has supporters like Mayor Doug Wilder of Virginia promising "rioting in the streets" if Barack Obama is "denied his right to the nomination."
So, why should Obama supporters feel obligated to obey anything so petty as federal election laws?
Change you can fear...

Imagine this and more going on at evey caucus site that Obama has won.
Democrats hold unfair elections and penalize Florida voters because the elite of the Democrat party got mad.

So a woman just sets up inside a polling place and NO ONE says anything? If it was so blatantly wrong and illegal, I have a feeling that someone would have said something--just look at all your crazy Hillary supporters on these boards using your 20/20 hindsight.

One of the most underreported stories in the campaign so far was how bad it got in Texas after the polls closed and voters attempted to go to various caucus locations.
The Obama supporters were reported to have locked doors, told people they were at the wrong location, etc.

There is no way he was not aware of this.
