Et Tu, Carville?
May 13, 2008 11:09 AM
Clinton loyalist James Carville at Furman University: "I’m for Senator Clinton, but I think the great likelihood is that Obama will be the nominee. As soon as I determine when that is, I’ll send him a check.”
The Ragin' Cajun also said that Sen. Hillary Clinton should keep fighting until the last dog dies, and "I still hear some dogs barking.”

Carville like every other WA insider says he wiil vote and work for Obama should he be he nominee....not much different than what Hillary says.....She admits she has a steep hill to climb..Obama is ahead in the race.
That being said neither candidate can win without super delegates putting them over the top and Obama has not won in the swing states.
It's not over yet.
Most voters are not WA insiders. There is a large vote that went from Democrat to Bush....there are Reagan Democrats that never came back. The White Working Class Voters that voted for Bll Clinton are still out there....Regardless of what the pundits claim I believe that 25-30% of Hillary's voters could migrate to McCain....There will not be enough new voters to make up the difference.
In a shoe-in year for Democrats Obama would try to win with the same demographics that beat McGovern.
Look in states where Obama drew record crowds to hear his speeches (like PA) he still lost to Hillary.
Obama just has 50% of those that vote Democrat as his voters. The crucial and unfailing confidence he has is from the MSM.
Kerry...Kennedy....his coalition is as "old politics" as you can t. This is a guy that has always deferred to mentors like Wright and Rezko.
We can only hope his next mentor is Kerry.

THE FACTS...
Hillary fans think tonight in WV is so fantastic! Such a big win! Wow!!!
Here are a few for you from Real Clear Politics - Not fake numbers as some of you Clinton fans put up here:
State.........Obama% .....Clinton%
Virgina .....63.7 ........ 35.5
Maryland ....66.7 ........ 35.8
Nebraska ....67.7 ........ 32.3
Georgia .....66.4 ........ 32.2
Colorado ....66.5 ........ 32.3
Kansas ......74.0 ........ 25.9
Minnesota ...66.4 ........ 32.2
And there are plenty more of them where those came from... And WV is so, so, so important? Why???

If Florida and Michigan are forced to wait til the GE in order to vote.... then they have been disenfranchised of their right to select the nominee for whom they wish to vote!
If the DNC wants to play at being bigger than the Constitution..... than a lot of current Democrats will probably be jumping ship to vote for McCain.... and to watch the shell of the DNC C R A C K into a million little pieces.
Some Americans actually believe that the country comes before the party!
I'm for Hillary, and I support this message!

C'mon already. If you ever watch Carville, all he is is a professional pundit, the same as Donna Brazille and they always seems to say just enough to cover their own behinds. Both of them are losers as far as I'm concerned; Carville must really be an egomaniac since he never seems to be able to keep his mouth shut. I stopped listening to him many years ago.

Beth,
Thank you for your post on Obama's Backers. I have been calling this a political coup for months now. It is what it is. I have your post copied and saved. I am further hoping that Jake will not delete the post.
Also, for those not aware. Clinton's personal loan to her campaign cannot be forgiven. I am sure the Clintons always understood this. I think them for their great generosity to this country.

Carville is a grown up. Grow up. GOP be afraid. The pack is coalescing, snarling and hungry to chow down on arugula in the west wing...

beat me, let me explain this slowly for you. You have to have rules, otherwise there would have been state primaries at Thanksgiving or Halloween, there has to be some limit. The Dems in FL could not override the FL republican majority. But being the obnoxious, arrogant, fools they are the republicans still moved the date up. (I'm convinced this attitude comes from the top-down "bush/cheney" and is why we're in the mess we're in now.) FL and MI can redeem themselves by getting the vote right in the fall. Obama 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | May 13, 2008 3:39:12 PM
Dee, tax cuts mean more money in an individual's pocket. More money to be spent or invested. More jobs are created. More people are paying taxes. Thus more revenue is generated. The 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts did all of that! The 2000-2001 recession was mild and short due to the 2001 tax cuts. And the economic effects of 9/11 were relatively short-lived due to both the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.
Posted by: James Danley | May 13, 2008 3:28:03 PM
The FL republicans knew the penalty for moving the date illegally and yet they still did it. Their own party took away half their delegates for doing this. But since the republican party selected their candidate early it didn't matter. (did you ever see a bigger bunch of losers that were in this years republican primary?) Obama should win by a landslide this fall against mc-more-war. Obama 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | May 13, 2008 2:54:15 PM
And come to think of it, what are they penalizing MI and FL for? Wanting to vote earlier, joining in with other states that want their votes to matter? God forbid! The Dems' rules are so messed up, you'd need a book to explain it all.
Posted by: You beat me to it | May 13, 2008 2:52:46 PM
Let's not be silly. It's the Dems' party rules that disenfranchised MI and FL. Who would have chosen penalizing MI and FL voters instead of the party leaders? The dumbass Dem party, that's who.

I love Carville and I bet he'll do like millions of us Hillary supporters...VOTE McCAIN IN NOV.!
Posted by: Debra | May 13, 2008 2:43:47 PM
For those that are unaware. In Florida the republican legislature controlled the vote to move the primary date up illegally, thus screwing the FL voters AGAIN. Do not blame the democrats for this fiasco. Florida voters should find out who these republican legislators were that forced the date to be moved and vote them out of office. Put the blame where the blame belongs. Also, Hillary will be telling voters to support Obama soon so any so-called Hillary supporters that say they are moving over to mc-more-war were probably going to vote for a third-bush term anyway, or are just uninformed voters. Obama 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | May 13, 2008 2:42:13 PM
Dano, be careful what you wish for! Historians will certainly have a much kinder reflection of the Bush years than what you call "devastation." The unemployment rate of 5.0% is, historically, really quite good. And revenues are at an all-time high.
Should you get your wish (a Democrat in the White House), you will have to redefine "devastation." The plans that both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama espouse will decimate small businesses and Corporate America. And you think the cost of gasoline is high now, just wait until the Democrats start interfering with the free market. They plan to raise the federal tax on gasoline $1-$3 per gallon and pass a windfall tax on the oil companies. The windfall tax will result in less supply, which means even higher prices.
The Democrats will raise taxes on nearly everyone who pays income taxes. They say only those making over $200,000 a year will have their income tax raised (which by the way is where many small businesses fall). But they also want to raise the capital gains tax and allow the Bush tax cuts to expire. That will affect nearly everyone! This will result in the largest tax increase in American history. And then there are their plans for universal health care. That's all we need at a time when existing entitlements already have us on the brink of bankruptcy. So go ahead and vote for the Democrats this fall. Don't say you haven't been warned!
Posted by: James Danley | May 13, 2008 2:38:17 PM
how is it Howard Dean's fault that Michigan and Florida's law-people decided not to play by the rules? it's not the citizenry's fault obviously, they shouldn't have to be disenfranchised; but i don't see how it's Dean's fault either.

Barack Obama used his power to deny, rather than defend our right to vote!
Barack Obama used his power against the American people. Now American's will use their collective power against Barack Obama!
America is no place for a dictator!

I know many who are not party loyalists, and I am one of them. There is nothing that could get me to vote Obama, even Hillary as VP. I'm afraid I have never dislike a candidate as much and it has nothing to do with skin color. He is so tainted and wrong to be given the highest office in our country. We would not be safe with him at the helm.
Where is Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Farrakahn, and Wright. Who was paid to bind and gag these angry predecessors? Michelle will soon be out and shouting her anger at the American people.
I love how the news media is so quick to crown Obama, and have the polls showing him beating McCain for the first time. Everybody loves to get behind the perceived winner....oh, it's going to be lovely when he falls from grace.
Posted by: Debra | May 13, 2008 2:25:06 PM
No,
What Carville is basically stating is what everyone is thinking, this race is over but Hillary has the right to stay in as long as she wants.
Lets not kid ourselves. A WV win would forestall the race. We've learned from PA, even with a Hillary victory in a big state Obama net gains 20+ Super Delegates to Hillarys 5+
As for today alone, Obama has net gained 5 SDs
She has the right to stay in, but it is in fact over.

Tina from Florida,
I think after this election Democrat Party has tainted by disenfranchised MI and FL.
It will be in history.
what a shame!

JT,
Mr Carville did not mean she is over but he waits until it's time determine, means after the battle not NOW.
He is a smart guy ,he delivered some messages to her supporters to not quit.
He said he still hear some dogs barking.
Posted by: blue Irish | May 13, 2008 2:07:44 PM
Howard Dean should have a revote in FL. and MI. Whomever has the most popular vote would be president and second would be vp. We would have a valid WINNING ticket. Instead we are going to have millions of democrats disenfranchised and out for revenge. Thanks for nothing but a big mess Howard.

Countallthevotes,
Let's tell all Hillary supporters send her e mails and ask her to be Independent.
We will support her all the way to November.
Go...Hillary..

What will it finally take to get her out of the race? Carville is the last bastion of support - virtually. Now he's gone.

This should be the biggest clue of all to both HRC and her supporters. If James Carville, the most ardent Clinton advocate of all time, says it's over, then HRC herself must know it's over. Even Terry McAuliffe this weekend agreed that the odds that HRC would prevail are highly unlikely. Still, HRC deserves the right to stay in the race as long as possible. Here's hoping that she and Bill can make a graceful exit from the campaign, so that she can live to fight another day.

sonia trevino,
Thank you for explaining that we Hillary supporters owe nothing to the DNC or Obama at all. Being a registered Democrat does not define me either. I define me. The Democrat label to me now is a misnomer. There has been nothing democratic about the treatment of the Clintons, the HRC supporters, the voters of MI and FL, the remaining voters in WV, KY, PR etc.
I need a new label and it will be INDEPENDENT
Posted by: countallthevotes | May 13, 2008 1:09:38 PM
miguel-i realize that many many obama supporters cannot believe that some of us would support john mccain because we trust him more than the other guy. only party insiders have to tow the party line the rest of us don't. we can vote for, or against anybody we want. and we do not owe anybody an explanation. you have us confused with obama supporters we do not drink koolaide. i am my candidate, my candidate is not me. i am my party, my party is not me. party affiliation does not define me. i am free. thank God i live in America.

It is utterly incomprehensible that self professed Democrats angrily announce they they will vote for McCain if Obama wins the nomination. Have you been awake these last 8 years? I intend to vote for Obama, but if Hillary was the nominee, I would not hesitate to vote for her. How could any thinking Democrat even consider voting for another Republican? With very few exceptions, McCain is in political lock step with Bush. This country will not survive 8 more years of the devastation we have witnessed under Bush. Wake up! The issue is larger than your Democratic preference. You are responsible for saving this nation.

Lots of people think if she is not the nominee she should run as Independent.

Most of her supporters think she may win.
Pls pray for her and make a donation even small amount of money she will appreciate it.
Thank you.

Miguel, you're ignoring the fact that there are 'real Hillary supporters' who are truly unhappy with how this race has been handled by Obama and the media. Not everything is some conspiracy to make it easier for McCain. The sooner Obama's camp starts acknowledging that Hillary's supporters have some reason to be annoyed, instead of calling them conspirators for McCain, the sooner we can get on with so-called 'healing.'

Simple question about Obama:
1) FOR 20 YEARS at 52 weeks per year, FOR MORE THAN A THOUSAND SERMONS, Obama listened to Jeremiah Wright. Surprising that no once, NOT EVEN ONCE, was there anything that Wright preached that was remotely close to "God D**N America!"? Wow! Not once in more than a THOUSAND HOURS of sermonizing? Heck, even in the short press conference, Wright was combative!
2) Even after Wright preached such nonsense, Obama not only chose the man to conduct his wedding but also baptize his children. Wright is right in feeling as if he has been treated like a used Condom - use it to screw someone and then discard without a second thought!
And Obama once referred to Wright being his "mentor" then his "pastor" and then dropped him once the heat got too much.
Shows judgement!

Oh Jake, James has been saying this for months now? So for you to imply that he betrayed Hillary like Brutus betrayed Ceasar like Richardson betrayed Hillary is a bit of a stretch dear!!!! James is a very loyal Hillary supporter and one of her best surrogates. He tells it like it is!!! The media has made sure Obama is the nominee so your wish has been granted, when he looses the general election in November....you better make sure to blame yourselves...oh wait...I am sure you all will blame Hillary for that too. Everyone is so in love with the idea of Obama and it will be too late to recognize he really doesn't have any idea!!!

Hillary to the end or McCain. The party is screwed up. I'll vote for the person that I feel is the best for me and MY COUNTRY! And its not BHO! He had a advisor resign this weekend because he had had secret meetings with Hamas. Does this not trouble people? The advisor was probably expendable. He only quit after he was caught. What else does BHO have going on that the public is not suppose to know? God Bless America!

For the real Hillary supporters out there, do not buy this over the top bluster about Obama not winning this fall. It is obviously meant to divide the Democratic party, in an attempt to make it easier for McCain. It would be quite an astonishing thing if real Hillary supporters, for everything she's fought for, to turn around and vote for the Republican - thereby dismissing Hillary's message and goals.
Posted by: Miguel | May 13, 2008 12:49:20 PM
Obama and Michelle are plastic, they are not real. They don't want to help working class people. They are only pretending to want to help so they can get elected. I think the Clinton's are real, they actually want to help working people. I think Hillary is a better candidate than Obama. If Obama is nominated, I will vote for McCain.

Quitters Never Win
By Ellen R. Malcolm
When I was growing up in the 1960s, I wanted to play basketball. In those days, the rules said girls could dribble only three steps and then had to pass the ball. To make sure we didn't overexert ourselves, we weren't allowed to cross the half-court line. It's a wonder our fans (our mothers) could stay awake when a typical game's final score was 14-10.
It's remarkable that my generation of women entered the workforce and began to compete in business, politics and the hurly-burly of life outside the home. How did we ever learn to locate, much less channel, our competitive instincts in a world that made us play half-court and assumed that we would be content staying home to iron the shirts? It's a tremendous tribute to women of my generation that we sucked it up and learned to compete in the toughest environments.
Which brings us to Hillary Clinton running for president. This brilliant woman believes that she can compete for the most powerful office in the world. She believes that she can do a better job than any of the men running to lead our country through these challenging times. And millions of Americans, women and men, believe that she is correct.
Yet over and over again the media and her opponents have claimed that she is defeated -- it's over, she can't win, she's a loser. And over and over again -- in New Hampshire, on Super Tuesday, in Texas and Ohio, in Pennsylvania last month, and in Indiana this week -- female voters poured out of their homes to cast their ballots for her. They know that women can compete, and they want to make sure that women, especially this woman, can win.
It's not surprising that low-income working women are the cornerstone of Hillary's success. Many of these women live on the edge of disaster. A pink slip, a family member's illness, a parent who can no longer live alone, a car that won't start or a mortgage rate that goes up -- all are threats that could devastate the family. And yet these women do what women have done for ages. They put on a confident face, feed their children breakfast and get them off to school. They don't quit. They suck it up and fight back against whatever life throws their way.

I think for most of the Hillary supporters, myself included, the feeling is this: I'm not going to vote for someone just because they are mixed race, and I'm not going to vote for someone just because they are a woman. The fact is, Hillary is a way, way better candidate and she has a much better chance at beating McCain in the GE.
Hillary's plans are exact and precise. Not empty words and speeches that sound like motivational speak or preaching. I want REAL change, not empty promises.
GO HILLARY! WE'RE WITH YOU!

The Lady In THE PANTSUIT sure has more GUTS than any delegates who are jumping ship(like RATS)they don't have any staying POWER. Of course they want to get their piece of the pie. They (delegates) are the ones that are ruining the party by thier weaknesses
not THE LADY IN THE PANTSUITS because HILLARY is not one to BACK DOWN as we are being made tosee by her will power of still being in the race. Regardless of the outcome she sure showed them what she is and always be capable of- She showed her country the love that feels for the USA and its people by staying to the end.

Be careful with this argument. By the same token, you can argue that popular vote/delegate count doesn't matter in the general, either. All that matters in the general is electoral votes, and HRC has a stronger claim by that metric.
"PUERTO RICO!!!
now tell me how can you factor in popular vote from a place that has NO...ZERO....ZILCH say in the actual election?"

so my point is do not open the flood gates. yes career folks will tow the party line that is how they make a living. i know many of you are new to this, but guess what, this is not the last election, or the election of all times when the messiah arrives. this election cycle like all others will be relegated to the trashbin of history where all the other looser democrat contenders are tossed. and we will still be trying to figure out how to pay our bills. welcome to politics in America.

Now it looks important enough for Obama to wear one.
I wonder what is next. Michelle baking apple pies and driving a Chevy truck? Getting ready for the GOP attacks I guess.
James don't write that check yet.
Go West Virginia/Go Hillary

Texas Voter is right. We have to 'grieve' and move on. Otherwise, I will end up in therapy and therapy is expensive.

please oh innocent ones. do you know nothing about politics? this is the way it is played. all career insiders abide by the rules or they would be out of a job. all insideres look beyond the present election if they want a contract for the next election with their party. these guys make millions of dollars.
i guess this is the first election for many of you? scary thought we really need to raise the voting age. you guys and some not all, people on these boards appear tio think they are watching american idol-wrong channel.

You know it's bad when even Carville can't spin it.

I don't understand how Carville saying Obama is the likely nominee is a ploy? Come on, now.

A ploy she has everyone working for her it is sad how many people they have lie for them.It is a race thing in WV and who cares who big of a win she has all it will do is inflate her ego.She is broke and if she wants to waste her money thinking she can BUY the White House so be it to bad the middle call and poor people could not have this cash she is wasting to pay our own way like she has NOT done for years.Living off this country she has no clue>>>>>>

I think Carville is trying to tell it like it is. He doesn't like the outcome, but he's trying to shoot straight. If even Carville is saying it's over, it's over.

he stated a long time ago that if obama becomes the nominee he will support him and contribute to his campaign. the guy is a democrat, and he keeps his word. he would support any democrat. they are party loyalists-to each his own. i have a brother just like him. they live a breath party politics. however in the scheme of all things one has to consider that what he is doing is also called job-security. being a democrat is his career. thank God it isn't mine and i can vote my conscience.

Carville is a pro. and a Pro. Dem. at that. This is how he makes his living. He is very bright and I love his wit. There is always a method to his madness.
Hmmmm. No further comment but this Ragin' Cajun can't persuade me.

But, but, I'm still in the denial phase. How did Carville jump so quickly to acceptance?
