McCain: It's all about the hype. No substance. No plans. No fixes. No idea. No memory. No clue. All HYPE!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 3:52:04 PM

Omentum - So very true... but yet patheitc!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 3:50:51 PM

I have no disrespect for McCain and can't say anything bad about him other than I don't agree with a lot of his policies but mark my word there will be anothe Republican in the White House because the AA will vote for McCain if Hillary gets it and the Hillary people will vote for McCain if BHO get it. That is the way it will be. As much as it is being said, there will be no "Love one another right now" party at the Dem Convention.

Posted by: rockthebleachers | May 6, 2008 3:05:32 PM

A lot of republiicans will switch over to the dem no matter who it is, and will look for a better canidate in 2012. Yes the diehard Republicans will vote for McCain but he won't win. The dem will win. And I don't care how many of you say they will vote for McCain if their canidate isn't the nominee. Most of the country wants a better economy, out of the war, and much more. It's laughable to think McCain will change anything.

Posted by: lisa | May 6, 2008 2:51:03 PM

Supers may go for BHO but the general will go to McCain! Sad but true.

Posted by: rockthebleachers | May 6, 2008 2:41:54 PM

lisa -

You just summed it up nicely. I was willing to vote Clinton, but I was praying for someone to come along and serve as a better alternative. Obama turned out to be that and a whole lot more.

Hillary would have been the ABB3 (annything but bush's 3rd term) candidate, but Obama's someone to actually vote for, not just against the Republicans.

Posted by: fontapa | May 6, 2008 2:41:52 PM

The supers will go with Obama not because of the youth vote or the AA vote. They will go with Obama because they are sick of the Clintons. I'm suprised you haven't figured that out. They are slowing leaving Hillary because now they have an option. The Clintons think they are entitled to the white house. They are nothing but bullies and the dems are sick of it.

Posted by: lisa | May 6, 2008 2:34:24 PM

I think it is pathetic for those of you who think saving $40 this summer is really something all that great! We are truly in trouble when we become HARD-UP for a $40 savings OVER A SUMMER mind you. PATHETIC!

I can't figure out what to do with my $40 savings this summer... maybe buy a bong and send it to Hillary!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 2:30:58 PM

And now John, you prove my point. You claim to be populist, you claim to be a Democrat. I am both of those things as well, but with one difference.

I've looked it up. I've learned how economics works. I come forward and say "wait, John, you're supporting something that looks good, but it's actually going to hurt or mutual cause.

What do you say in response? I'm an elitist, and I should go away.

Your thank you letter from the 5% of Americans with 90% of the wealth is in the mail.

Posted by: fontapa | May 6, 2008 2:20:24 PM

I think this picture of him here is hot but when you see him on TV - not so much.

Posted by: Dina | May 6, 2008 2:05:31 PM

Sad to think that they are worried about alienating the black vote when they will more than likely have to worry about the older white women because there are a lot more of them to alienate. In the long run it will put McCain in the White House. If Hillary loses the nomination I know the woman that I work with in this category will vote for McCain no matter if Hillary asks them to vote Democrat regardless.

Posted by: rockthebleachers | May 6, 2008 2:04:33 PM

fontapa - the economists who criticized Clinton's proposals on gas taxes are the same ones who advised Bush, Wall Street, and the GOP. These are the same people who are responsible for getting us into the economic situation we are in today. These are the same people who are thriving as middle America continues to disappear - most becoming poorer. Wealthy humanitarians and centrists support the combined short and long range plans. The MSM wont report that because it wont increase their ratings and would look bad for Obama. Always consider the source. I think it is a big mistake to listen to advice from so called experts that have shown how biased and incompetent they are when it comes to advice on the economy. As a person who used to work in the oil industry, I know a lot more about it than most Americans.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 1:59:28 PM

OmentuM!

you are right - the nomination will be given to Barack mostly because they are afraid of the backlash of the Black community and losing thier votes and you are right. I don't fit in to what Barack has in store for America. I am sure it is very very very scarey.

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:57:03 PM

FONTAPA

-Sorry but I disagree with you. I think ( I know) you have wasted your vote. Thanks again for your input. As for the gas tax - she wants the oil compaines to pay for it this summer to help out some of the people who are truly struggling. I am not struggling but know people who are and if you gas up 2x a week that will help. It is not a solution - just a break for the summer.

Take care. BTW HRC 08'

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:50:53 PM

Alan,

Not angry at all. I was just having fun at your expense.

You said you skipped class to vote for Hillary. Hillary is a brilliant, gifted, extremely educated woman.

In order for her not to see the error in her gas tax scheme, she'd have to have SKIPPED CLASS the day they taught about basic economics.

Obviously she didn't, so she knows better and is just playing the fool.

Just thought it was kind of an obvious joke. Ridiculing you for voting for the inevitable delegate loser who's lied about her faith in her gas tax boondoggle is not the same thing as being angry.

It's not bitter to say you are silly for voting for her. It's the truth.

Posted by: fontapa | May 6, 2008 1:44:39 PM

Apparently Obama has a lot of supporters who are out of touch with the needs of middle America. $30 per car per month or even as little as $70 for a summer means a lot to people who cant afford enough food or medicine. It proves just how out of touch the liberal left wing is with the needs of all people. It is very telling of the elitism we see in Obama and his supporters in his socioeconomic class. The momentum shifted to Clinton because of his elitism not because of Wright. Middle America are the majority of Americans who make between 16K and 70K who need relief both short and long term. It is not his fault he was raised upper class and continues to live upper class. However, it is his fault he has not dealt with his own demons and learned how middle America really lives. This is not just my opinion... more than half the voters are expressing the same sentiment as the truth is revealed about who he really is. I encourage people to explore all the facts without emotion or support for either candidate. Check the voting records, the detailed campaign contribution sources, the resumes, and the background details in the candidate's words alone via their speeches, letters, and books. Listen to unbiased analysts, economists, and successful wealthy humanitarians. That means going to non MSM sources like Taxpayers for Common Sense, VoteSmart, OpenSecrets, League of Women Voters, Huma Rights Campaign, Anti-Defamation League, Southern Poverty Law Center, and others. Be informed instead of being a MSM lemming.

OBAMA IS A MERE POLITICIAN AND WHEN HE IS RUNNING IN THE GENERAL ELECTION HE IS GOING TO BE RIPPED TO SHREDS - HE CAN NOT HOLD UNDER PRESSURE. WHAT A SAD DAY IF HE IS THE NOMINEE - 4 MORE YEARS OF REPUBS.

Posted by: Michael - NYC | May 6, 2008 1:42:35 PM

OU2IC

You don't think Obama is an Actor - denoucing his preacher -, playing hoops with blue collar workers becasue he despeartely needs their votes. Using his mother's death for his Healhcare plan - when in deed in his book he didn't even go to her when she was dying. Talk about an Osacar contender.

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:39:53 PM

Omentum

-sorry I did not fall for Barack's empty words but thank you for your input. I have been watching this guy for months and during the PA debate he stumbled and crumbled. - that was an indicator for me then. I have seen HRC in her debates when the heat was on her and she was able to stand her ground and take charge. I remember one of the earlier debates with Edwards in it and they were just beating up HRC and I thought to myself WOW she can really take a wallup and I was still an Obama supporter. I just think he is all smoke and mirrors.

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:35:10 PM

Alan - You say, "...This past 2 weeks she really has come across as a leader...".

I'd say that these past two weeks, she really has come across as an actress!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 1:26:28 PM

Obama refused to be with his mother knowing she was dying of cervical cancer and spoke ill of her and his white heritage in his book. Nothing is off limits with candidates when it comes to facts. She was a very accomplished woman that he is ashamed of by his words not mine. He proved it by not being with her when she was dying. I know the facts wont change the minds of some but voters deserve to know as much of the facts as possible about candidates. I feel sad for his maternal side of the family as they must have endured incredible pain. In my opinion, family comes first but to Obama, apparently his political career and his search to identify with the black community comes first. I wont even begin to quote the disgusting statements from his book - the media will be continuing that soon.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 1:25:57 PM

Come on folks - no fighting. I was an Obama supporter until the "Wright" issue - which in my mind is not an issue. My issue with "Wright" is that he came out against Barack and then 2 days later Barack disowned him. Since then nothing from "Wright". Sounds fishy. I think Barack is a typical politican. Say and do what you have to - to get elected. As for HRC she has so many controversies surrounding here but at least I know what to expect from her. This past 2 weeks she really has come across as a leader and I really like that. She is a millionaire and so is Barack but I truly believe that she is for the Middle class. Good luck tonight to both candidates. May the better man (woman) win. I hope one of them wins both states tonight.

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:21:44 PM

Fontapa -

DON'T BE BITTER - WE CAN VOTE FOR WHOM EVER WE CHOOSE. IF YOU VOTED OBAM - THEN GOOD FOR YOU.

Angry, Angry people

Posted by: Alan | May 6, 2008 1:13:22 PM

"I skipped class to vote for HRC> Go Hillary 08'"

Well, Alan, if it was a class covering supply/demand economics, you've got another thing in common with your candidate...

Posted by: fontapa | May 6, 2008 1:10:21 PM

mixed-american- A bit mixed up you are... just a bit!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 1:02:08 PM

The biggest achievement Obama had so far in his whole political life is the biggest political scandal in history from his home town - Chicago...

He is either one part of it or blinded..

Posted by: True Truth | May 6, 2008 1:02:08 PM

Obama is part of the Bush dynasty by his own admission. He also supports and voted for cousin Cheney and Bush's energy bill that increased tax breaks for oil companies and provided funding and breaks for nuclear energy companies. He will be more of Bush than Clinton or McCain.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 12:56:09 PM

Well maybe old age and treachery WON'T win out in Indiana. I remember when JFK inspired me and the whole nation. American accomplished tremendous things during Kennedy's short presidency. Now it's time to pass the baton to today's youth and another young leader for a once again stronger nation.

I say YEAH for the youth. I worked with some amazing young staffers here in Texas and they were great.

To the youth of America, please act on your enthusiasm with a VOTE FOR BARACK!!!

Posted by: Older W/Woman for Obama | May 6, 2008 12:54:00 PM

As for Obama and his namesakes, that is a joke to say the least. He went by the name Barry half his life. He changed it to Barack to help black voters identify with him per his own words years ago. Barry is just too "Manilow" aka white like his heritage he is ashamed of. He wouldnt even be with his mother as she was dying of cervical cancer. Disgusting! The original spelling of his first name is Baraq but that would hurt him. He also tends to not use his middle name for obvious reasons. If you think he is not pandering you dont know the facts.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 12:53:32 PM

28 YEARS of a Clinton or bush in the 1 or 2 spot is way too long. Let's go for the Fresh Start and vote Obama today. He's the right person at the right time. Obama 2008!

Posted by: pt | May 6, 2008 12:48:44 PM

Clinton dropping her maiden name shows several things that are true about her character:

She stands by her commitment.
She is not a radical feminist.
She is willing to compromise to find middle ground.
She listens to the voters.
She is in touch with cultural perception.
She is willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

She has withstood incredible scrutiny for 29 years and Obama cant even handle a few months of it without losing weight, stammering in speeches, refusing to answer tough questions, whining about reporters, and going grey with increasing wrinkles. He is looking pretty worn out and she is looking energized. The GOP has just barely begun its smear campaign. She knows how to beat them and he is looking more and more like the fragile weak person he is. His latest attack ad has been debunked as lies and deceptions. Oh but his supporters think he is honest and trustworthy... yeah right! You have been decieved by the manipulative liberal left wing.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 12:47:40 PM

I'm hoping for an upset in IN and Obama wins both NC & IN! I enjoyed the 90's (Clinton era), but I, by no means, would choose to re-live it. That would be "lacking in enthusiasm" to say the least!

Posted by: OU2IC | May 6, 2008 12:41:52 PM

mixed...I guess that made my point..even though Hillary is a feminist she went against her convictions to be her own women to get Bill elected...great character Hillary.

Posted by: carnival | May 6, 2008 12:39:54 PM

I comment the young people and newly registered voters who are coming out this year...the older generation could learn something from you...we need new ideas and a new direction...the older generation is afraid of that...

Posted by: carnival | May 6, 2008 12:37:16 PM

Good luck Hillary Hoosiers....I hope you can live by your vote.

Posted by: carnival | May 6, 2008 12:34:50 PM

Dema - You are misinformed on her maiden name. She dropped it many years ago when Bill Clinton lost one of his bids for Governor of Arkansas because it was thought to contribute to his loss. In other words, political advisors said that Arkansas residents felt she should be a wife and not her own woman. She made the choice to do so and Bill Clinton then won 5 consecutive terms. It has nothing to do with this race.

Posted by: mixed-american | May 6, 2008 12:34:48 PM

I did calls for Obama in Ohio and could even get people with an answering machine. In Indiana I at least got an answering machine so that has to be a good sign. My results were: 60% Obama, 20% McCain, 20% Clinton. I doubt those will be the results so suppose I was lucky to get to speak to so many people who have real hope not false hope from liars.

Posted by: Oscar Meyer | May 6, 2008 12:34:11 PM

Here's something to think about.

When Hillary Rodham Clinton decided to run for president, she dropped the Rodham...the name she had long insisted on being called didn't poll well, so she dropped the Rodham.

Barack Obama could have used his nickname...Barry...and that would have gotten him more votes...but he didn't. He ran as the person he is.

It's a small thing, but it speaks volumes about the truthfulness of the two candidates. Hillary's a fake, a construction composed after reviewing focus group data. Barack Obama's the real thing.
