Hillary (and Bill?) Loan Her Campaign $6 Million More

May 07, 2008 9:54 AM

The Clinton campaign reports today that in the last month Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, has loaned herself $6.425 million in the last month -- bringing her grand total of "loans" to her campaign $11.425 million, putting on in place to be the second biggest self-funder this election cycle, behind only former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

The loans were:

$5 million on April 11; $1 million on May 1; and $425,000 on May 5.

The dates are significant because she still felt the need to loan herself money even after her impressive win in Pennsylvania on April 22 -- meaning the $10 million she raised in the 24 hours after that win was not enough.

One other point of possible significance.

After her $5 million January loan was disclosed, Clinton said "I loaned the campaign $5 million from my money."

MY money, she said.

"The loan is from Senator Clinton's share of their joint resources," a Clinton spokesman told reporters, clarifying the point even further.

Sen. Clinton earned slightly more than $10 million (including an $8 million advance) for her memoir, Living History.

She has now loaned herself more than that -- $11.425 million -- meaning, presumably, she may now be lending her campaign funds former President Bill Clinton earned.

Their joint assets are their joint assets -- but she's the one who split the hairs on "my money" back in February.

More to the point, this news may give the media more of a reason than ever to inquire as to how the former President has made his money -- something he has been reluctant to discuss.

So the article about Obama's advisor and Hamas did not work for Obama and Tapper? Delegates even if now they support Obama, have the right to switch at the convention

outsourced2,
i think she should just go home, I hope obama does not let her or bill campaign in the fall for him.

Seeing how Hillary had over $100 million at the beginning of her campaign and was the powerful Clinton presumed to be coronated DNC nominee, this just shows her lack of management skills. She wants to run a county?...she cant even run a decent campaign!

Obama has wisely invested my 25 dollars a month

There is truism that has often been repeated during this nomination process. The more people get to know Obama's story, the more time he can spend talking to people in a state, the more they like him. Don't get all hung up on these silly associations that the repubs have used to divide us. Neither Obama or Hilary have much experience in meaningful ways. Neither did Bill Clinton. Governor? So what, doesn't equip you to run a country or help you with foreign policy decisions. Hillary jetting around the world meeting with women's groups while her husband negotiated treaties, is not experience that matters. It's what's inside Barack that matters. He has two autobiographies, and one biography that lay it all out there. He is an honest person with the same liberal ideology as Hillary. If you are not a liberal, vote for McCain with Rush, Hannity, and Ann Coulter. I would rather be a part of something new and hopeful, to get out of this nonsensical Iraq war, work for economic recovery, reform health care in meaningful ways, go after oil companies with windfall profit taxes, and change NAFTA so that it protects Americans. If you care about any of these issues, you should NOT vote for McSame any more than you would vote for Bush for a third term. By the way, are these really liberal issues, or are they long overdue and fundamental appropriate for our America?

For those interested in Fl and MI votes.

They showed on TV last night that even if they gave them all to Hillary she still loses, so lets move on.

He has won. Face the facts and just stop with trying to drag her on. Let her go people.

Beam me up Scotty!

To Senator Clinton and her supporters:

I want to congratulate you on a hard fought campaign, however, your inability to face reality makes it very difficult. Very.

I like looking to the future. A special interest mega-group will arrange for Hillary to be given another huge advance on a new book, outlining how she has done as much as she can as a public servant as first lady (twice, at the state and federal level) and as a NY Senator. She will not seek re-election in NY, and will go on the lecture circuit (independently from Bill), write books like Bill's 'Giving', and position herself as a 'new populist" in the mold of John Edwards. Like Bill, she will still wield enormous power in the democratic party. Foreign nations will perceive of her as influential in her country, as a not-so-subtle lobbyist, just like her husband Bill. They will build their charitable foundation through their massive speaking and book revenues, and try as much a possible to stay in the spotlight by showing up and speaking out for the world's neediest people and nations, like Al Gore does for the environment. She may even one day be nominated for the Nobel Prize, to go along with her book awards. Gore's thing is obviously the environment, and hers will be women and children, as it always has been. She will join her husband as a revered party elder, the gal who fought to the bitter end, the populist candidate of the people. She will have a wonderful retirement departing from formal public service, take the adoration, and not have to fool with all the usual political aggravation and necessary pandering. Hopefully, she won't be bitter and become an outspoken critic of the democratic party. But she will keep one on the White House. I wish her well.

I love this country too much to see it divided and distracted at this moment in history. I believe in our ability to perfect this union because it's the only reason I'm standing here today. And I know the promise of America because I have lived it.

Instead of giving her your hard earned dollars, save your money and pay your bills. Remember what happened to the horse Hillary placed her bet on? If she can't win, she needs to be put out of her misery.

Tom...Obama has invested his life...if you didn't listen to his message last night you really missed out. Hillary borrowing from herself only proves that she cannot handle finances. How can she balance our national budget? I know she has fought hard and long and REALLY wanted this, but the time is drawing near...after eveyone has voted she needs to concede and work together to beat McCain. It can only be done if she is gracious enough to help Obama. I know she has it in her...

Open the floodgates!

Watch the superdelegates move to Obama now that Clinton is in pathetic disarray.

IT IS NOW OFFICIALLY OVER.

CLINTON IS DONE!

Posted by: Nat Turner | May 7, 2008 11:04:45 AM

Clinton must have made a deal with the devil for her to keep running in a race where she cannot win, nor will she be on the ticket as VP.

The Clinton legacy is imploding daily from within with nothing to gain.

Selling the Clinton Legacy to the Devil has its repercussions.

Utter Defeat to the last botox shot.

Sad Sad day for Clinton sour grape groupies.

Go ahead and donate another $100 of your hard earned money to pay off Clinton's debt.

Suckas!

Am still waiting on a proper explanation as to what went on in Lake County, I think CNN took the wind out of their sails with whatever they were trying to do down there, the mayor sure did not give a good answer as to why it was taking so long, looks like they wanted to bring the margin a little closer and that is just what they did, something is fishy with whatever was going on there.

Posted by: SJ | May 7, 2008 10:54:22 AM

I'll sit this one out. America needs to pull to the center. Given a choice of two evils, a vote for Obama or a vote for McCain is a vote for four more years of extremism. Let everyone see that the far left is just as bad as the far right. If it takes four more years of bittergate to make that point, then let the Democrats make their statement and lose by winning or lose by losing.

I feel...finished. Finished with the Democratic party. If after Rezko and Wright and Michelle and all the lies and empty rhetoric and race baiting and PC thuggery on the part of Obama and his rabid cult of fan-boys he can still close the gap in IN as closely as he did and win NC by as much as he did, then I do not give a good goddamn what happens to this party. And let me add--Pelosi, Dean, Leahy, Brazile, Kennedy, Kerry, Clyburn, Reid are the true culprits here, forget about Obama, he's nothing but a cynical and selfish opportunist who saw a opening on the path to power and took it. I'll NEVER....NEVEEEER...support this fraud and sham of a candidate, nor contribute a cent to this party...ever again.

I'm through with fretting over the irrelevancy.

wy do you say the clintons are royalty
and a political dynasty?
and what is the clinton machine?

Good for Hillary!

The people of: Nebraska, West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon, Montana & South Dakota have a right to decide this outcome too. I am sure they are excited in finially voting in a primary.

The only one not excited about it is Obama. There probably isn't that much of a black vote for him there. Meaning the people will vote on something other than race. The true measure of a candidate.

Stay with it Hillary!

Barak took on one of the most powerful political dynasties in America and he despite all the negative media frenzy about things that matter to them and not to the voting public, Barak is steadily increasing in popularity with American Voters. Why? Because America believes in the American dream.
Thanks to mature American politics , despite all the negative spin by wrong footed media that tried to muddy the voting waters with side issues to deflect the common purpose of America's voting public, Barak is on the way to sealing the Democratic Nomination.

It's sad to see it end this way for Hillary and Bill, they will destroy the party and any bridges they have left to win this election, they need to stop before people rally start to hate them...

Hey Tom! President Obama has invested MY money and 1.5 million supporters money! The way that he has run his campaign - no debt, no defections or resignations, no one accepting money to push Columbia trade, and without playing dirty politics - is what Obama has invested. The highest office in the land should not be sold to the highest bidder!

I cannot wait to see Obama's hand on the Bible being sworn in on Jan. 20, 2009!

YES WE DID!

President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary are uber-rich American royalty, but they can't buy the nomination away from the skinny black kid from the South side of Chicago.

That makes me incredibly proud as an American.

Fortunately the founding fathers had an issue with royalty, and gave us the Constitution instead.

Hillary is invested in this fight. She is spending her own money for the people of America. What has Obama invested?
