Hillary Clinton Super-D/Bill Clinton DNC chair Switches to Obama

May 01, 2008 7:19 AM

Joe Andrew was appointed to chair the Democratic National Committee in 1999, during the presidency of Bill Clinton.

The youngest DNC chair ever endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential bid last year, saying,  "Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to compete and win across this country. I have seen up close her intellect, character, and fortitude, and I am convinced she is the best prepared to handle these challenging times. Her 35-year record fighting for America's families is as impressive as she is, and demonstrates why she will be a great President of the United States."

"Joe was a strong leader who put the Democratic Party on the right path,” Clinton said. "I'm honored to have his support."

Not so fast, senator.

Today Andrew, former chair of the Indiana Democratic Party, will announce he's switching to Sen. Barack Obama's camp, the AP reports.

In an Indianapolis press conference he will so in order to urge his "fellow superdelegates across the nation to heal the rift in our party and unite behind Barack Obama," as he writes in a letter he's sending to superdelegates.

Andrew writes he's switching because "a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists John McCain....While I was hopeful that a long, contested primary season would invigorate our party, the polls show that the tone and temperature of the race is now hurting us. John McCain, without doing much of anything, is now competitive against both of our remaining candidates. We are doing his work for him and distracting Americans from the issues that really affect all of our lives."

"I am convinced that the primary process has devolved to the point that it's now bad for the Democratic Party," Andrew told the AP.

"He has shown such mettle under fire," Andrew told the AP. "The Jeremiah Wright controversy just reconfirmed for me, just as the gas tax controversy confirmed for me, that he is the right candidate for our party."

Yesterday in Billings, Montana, meanwhile, former GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee went after his fellow Christian minister, Rev. Wright, saying Obama's "campaign is not being derailed by his race, it's being derailed by a person who doesn't want him to prove that we have made great advances in this country...Jeremiah Wright needs for Obama to lose so he can justify his anger, his hostile bitterness against the United States of America."

We live in interesting times.

James, I agree with you. The danger with the Democratic party is that their supporters (more than the candidates) are painting their opponents as unacceptable. Obama and Clinton's platforms are the same. They are both smart enough to run this country. As a Democrat either should be acceptable since the Democratic agenda will still be pushed. Democrats should be united behind either. I on the other hand am an Independent. Though I lean more Democrat than Republican I choose to remain Independent because I do not fully support the platform of either party and because I do not like the poliitical gamemanship played by both. It is more than time for another party...

Those who profess to be changing their choice of candidate if his or her opponent wins the party nomination are no better than the voter who sticks to one party regardless of its agenda or the credibility of its Presidential nominee. Two parties are for most Americans one party too many. That may eventually be the case,

My question is why now Joe Andrew decides not to support Hillary? Is it because he sees the American people have come to their senses to support Hillary? Apparently, he gave his support to Hillary in the beginning believing she was not going to win. Now that Obama is dropping, he's out to support him. I hope the other superdelegates that he is calling is a little smarter than him. To be honest, Andrew seems to be a little confused on what our country needs. I agree that he will cause us to fall back with McCain as President. I know my family will vote republican if Hillary is not the democratic nominee. We have never supported the republican but I guess this year will be the first time.

It's a complete shame that no one sees that the Clinton's has made McCain's campaign a piece of cake by dishing out dirty politics which includes lies and exaggerations. Those Clinton's and the Media could not find any dirt on Obama so they decide to associate him with Pastor Wright and run Obama through the mud with it. I admit the comments that Wright had made were plain out wrong, however, this does not mean that Obama is anti-american. So what he knew him for 20 years and he attended his Church. If this is all that they can come up with then this doesn't even measure up with all of the dirt that the Clinton's continue to sweep under the rug, and it's quite a big pile of dirt to hide! From the Ed Willey Scandal to the Bosnia lies to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Not to mention the White Water Scandal. She continues to brush all the negative history off when she is being asked. Someone needs to ask Killary how can you control the US issues and you can't even control your Hubby? I used to like those Clinton's until those true colors began to show.

i really would love a viable third party. the democratic party has been destroyed, by a true lack of leadership...pelosi, reid, dean, kennedy, kerry, dodd, richardson, etc..and the introduction of a political neophyte into the primary mix, that has been endorsed/promoted by the same un-impressive "leaders."
. there is no way to pull this party together.
the best of all worlds would be for the hillary supporters and disenfranchised independants leaning hillary, to separate from the democrats and build/define our own third party.
Leave the democrats with the majority of the self-defined elitists, and the overwelming number of vile, disrespectful, youth obama has pulled in to the process. they all deserve each other. pulled into the political process

how disgusting.
Dnc is a conspiracy party.
let us switch to republican

Future history books will note that on May 1, 2008, Joe Andrew turned the tide for an election that led to John McCain's Presidency.

At the very point in the campaign when the American people woke up to realize that Obama was not their best candidate for President, the former DNC took his support from Clinton and encouraged his fellow Democrats to do the same.

He did this to help unite his party at the expense of the Presidential election.

Those who voted for Clinton would not vote for Obama as the party candidate. Those who voted for Obama would vote for Clinton if she were the party's candidate.

Joe Andrew attempted to fix the race for Obama then it went downhill from there.

McCain is elected President.

No wonder Democrats lose so much. They can't see the writing on the wall even when it is shouted at them by the Rev Wright. Nor did they notice the polls that said Clinton had a larger lead in the Presidential race than did Obama. Not did they notice $10 million dollars raised for Clinton in one day in just the past week.

Joe Andrew noticed none of that. The major networks didn't see that. The largest newspapers glazed over it and stopped up their Obama support.

Bottom line, I just guess Democrats do not want to win this election since they are beating down their best hope, and forcing a not yet vetted, one term state senator.

In a race you normally chose your best horse. The one who can go the distance. Not the one who runs out of the gate first then loses steam in the last quarter. No matter how much you shout and encourage, that horse just won't be able to make up the difference.

Sad thing is, there will be an Obama supporter or two who will comment on this and say Rev Wright type stuff, and they still won't realize that they are a big part of the reason Obama will not win.

I don't want Rev Wright's followers in the White House any more that I want one of Warren Jeff's followers as President. If you've been there for 20 years, then you are not against it. You are a part of it.

If the party had any sense at all they should have told Obama to wait until the next election. He is a young man who could benefit in the long run. Maybe he and his wife might have learned to really love this country to the point of being able to say so. Instead they just see this county as their opportunity to pay back a lot of people for a lot of actions in the distant past. They have their Harvard and Princeton educations so I'm not sure how much they can complain about their life in the U.S.

Even Obama's father had a Harvard education. He was a resident of Kenya. Badly treated? How many people would have loved to have that education and couldn't get it.

Obama was upset that he was black in a private school in Hawaii paid for by his white grandparents, while he chose to take on a black militant attitude. Then he felt pain that he had to cover up by using drugs. Drugs are a big problem in Hawaii. I doubt he felt more pain that any of the other people usinig drugs there. Hawaii is 20% white. Obama was hardly the only mixed race kid in the school.

If the Democrat party really wanted Obama to be president, they would have mentored him and allowed him to mature before putting him into the race for the Presidency.

Self defeating behavior. The Dems could have had Hillary followed by Barack but just couldn't let it happen. Nice job Joe. Keep up the pressure on those other super-delegates.

KEEP THE CLINTONS OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE

When Bill Clinton came to the White House in 1993, Democrats were a congressional majority, with 258 seats in the House. When he left in 2001, they were a minority with 46 fewer seats. There were 30 Democratic governors, when he arrived, 21 eight years later.
A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found nearly 60 percent of voters think Clinton is dishonest and will lie when she thinks she needs to.

IF A PASTOR IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY THEY KEEP!

When the Rev. William Procanick put his hand on the Bible during his sex-abuse trial in Oneida County Court earlier this year, he swore to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But as the former Clinton pastor was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl at his home last March, Judge Michael L. Dwyer said , Procanick sacrificed his honesty the day he testified.

Okay, so now that Bill and Hillary Clinton's pastor has been convicted of child molestation, will we see the same furor directed at Hillary that Obama has had to endure these last few weeks?

IF A CANDIDATE IS KNOWN BY THE PASTOR THEY KEEP
......
Then you need to email this article to everyone you know. Here the CLINTON'S Pastor is convicted of child molestation. So, if Obama bears the guilt for his pastor's
comments, then Hillary has to be equally tainted by this guy's crimes.

Becky....If 50% of registered Democrats left the party it would definitely hurt actually if the 30% that are threatening to left it would be pretty devastating for Obama....There is no way Obama will get elected president without all the party behind him. The Republicans increased GW Bush's voters by 14 million in 2004 during a time of war.

Actually 14 million is a rough estimate of 1/2 voters in the primary for either Democratic candidate.

Even though 9 million apparently are identifying themselves as Democrats for this election we still have a split citizenry in the US.

John McCain draws way more Independents than obama...Obama is not leading McCain in many of the traditional Democratic strongholds.

Telling other Democrats not to vote is not wise. They may just listen to you...and then you and Senator Obama could complain about how unfair that you lost the election.

yes, questioner, a mother tie.

also andrews - his law firm has michelle obama's hospital as one of its major clients.

amazing how the media reports what andrews SAYS is his reason for switching but leaves out the obvious real reason.

13% are Independent.

They will break the tie.

Someome is going to eat dust on Tuesday night.

looking forward to the weekend as all the pundits will continue the Wright Story.

Rev. Wright.... I hope God speaks to you to come out again...maybe this Sunday.

Rev. Wright--- You cannot let Obama get away with talking about you as he did the other day.

UNLESS.... Rev. Wright feels like he did something wrong.....

It's so sad that the Dems are all torn apart over a bunch of dirty politics (Hillary and the Media). We are doing exactly what the Repubs want us to do... bicker over pointless scandals when the main focus are gas prices, health care, jobs, and bringing what's left of our troops home! There are a too many age, gender, and race groups that are just plain mad if Obama wins over Hillary or visa versa. The bottom line is that we will have another 8 years of the new Bush... yes McCain.

Posted by: MR. FM | May 1, 2008 3:14:16 PM

This could be good news for Obama. Glad to see that people like Casey, Richardson, and now Andrew have the courage to endorse a genuine leader who can bring this country together and begin to clean up the huge mess caused by the bush-league. Obama 2008!

Posted by: pt | May 1, 2008 3:09:45 PM

What everyone seems to be forgetting is if you leave the party (which is fine with me), it will not hurt the party, Obama has picked up more Independent voters than ever before. Leave if you want. (Independent voters can not vote right now, nor the Republican ones that are switching) If they could Obama would have ended this crap a long time ago.

Are the super-delegates permitted to take money from the candidates?

DO the super-delegates take money from the candidates?

Is it true that Michelle Obama's mother is one of the super-delegates?

Is it true that one of the delegates in Chicago was dismissed as a delegate because she called a bunch of kids a bunch of monkies?

Is this election for real?

Martin, Her accomplishment is that she is Bill Clinton's wife since she points to his presidency as her "experience". I certainly believe it was an experience all right.

Where is Nat. I miss him.

Posted by: barefootboy9 | May 1, 2008 2:17:17 PM

Funny thing, I heard Andrews' on NPR this morning stressing how a vote for Obama wasn't a vote for HRC, how he backed the need for all voters to get out and have their say, how neither candidate could win without the backing of SuperDs, and how he wasn't doing this for political or personal gain but just b/c it was the right thing to do (which is why he hadn't called either campaign before making his statement). But his letter and tone and reference to "attack dogs" all seem to refute everything he just said.

Posted by: Sandy | May 1, 2008 1:59:14 PM

Martin : I could give you a long list of Clinton accomplishments but I am sure it would just confuse you as it appears that you have been brainwashed by msnbc. So let's keep it simple for the stupid. Hillary has been a US Senator for 7 years now while campainging for the last year. Obama was elected to his frst term as a US Senator and started campaigning for President before he was elected to the Senate. There is no comparison here unless you are an idiot....Vote Hillary it will make you smarter.

Rev. Wright and his Grandmother

but for the sake of the country and our future, I"LL VOTE FOR HILLARY!

Posted by: eyes wide open | May 1, 2008 1:39:20 PM

Since it is clear Obama can not win why would these elected officials be endorsing him? joe Andrews must have been told by Michelle that he would not be the lawyer for her hospital if did not endorse Obama.....he is saving his own job because win or lose Michelle could cause the hospital to hire a different lawyer. But folks like Kerry and Kennedy?????? ect. because they have known McCain even longer than they have known Clinton and once elected McCain as a liberal conservative will appoint many off them. Hillary would not appoint Kerry or Kennedy to anything,,,,,these old boys are using Obama to get McCain elected and I bet they will try to blame Hillary but not for long because we in MA will get these old boys out.

Posted by: suzy | May 1, 2008 1:37:57 PM

I have Nat Turner pictured as a 15 yr old black boy that needs a diaper change. We all can smell you here on this forum. I think your mother will spank you if she knew you were on the computer. Go get your diaper changed, and your mother may want you to go to the store for her. She may even buy you a soda pop. Don't go with a pacifier in your mouth.

Obama seems to attract people who either have poor judgment, is willing to betray or take advantage of him. That does not speak well to his leadership. After extolling praises on Wright and now, Obama said that 'I don't know him as well as I should" after 20 years?

Joe Andrew's switch shows his own poor judgment and lack of concern for the party's real goal of winning the white house. In this time of turmoil as Obama's character being vetted, the #1 concern for superdelegates to see who can win back the white house. To do it now, it shows that he does not take his role seriously, not care about the party.

Posted by: vote4thebest | May 1, 2008 1:32:17 PM

It's more important for Obama to win the nomination and DO what Axelrod said than to stand by his Friend/Mentor ( who inspired a WHOLE BOOK ) of 20 Years....

Even in his book he claims if the tides change-- “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” ...

Think Loyalty means anything to Obama?

He'll take what he can get --- Wright was RIGHT--- Obama is a POLITICIAN AND HE WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED....

( Obama's performance the other day--- trying to look sad while reading his speech --- rarely did he look straight into the Camera.... he knew what he was doing was wrong but he went ahead with it--- CAUSE his Campaign Manager--AXELROD TOLD HIM TO )

This OBAMA is going to be the leader of Our Country?

Will he put on the same performance when he faces China and N.Korea and Iran--- Put on a sad face and HOPE things work out??????? He REPRESENTS US???????? Communism here we come.

Posted by: carpenter.nyc | May 1, 2008 1:24:44 PM

They keep counting Hillary out, yet she is still right there. There's no quit in her. Obama is going to unite the world, although he can't even unite his own party. We need solutions not feel good slogans.

Posted by: Mack | May 1, 2008 1:22:51 PM

Nat, I personally don't have as much problem with Obama as I have with Obama supporters like you. I love that my vote for McCain will just cancel your vote for Obama :)

Posted by: Sonia | May 1, 2008 1:22:19 PM

Nat Turner: What news are you watching???Oh I know you must be watching Oberman and Matthews on msnbc. I watched some of Matthews last night....I watch just to see how many non facts he tries to put over on the Obama groupies like last night when he claimed Obama was still ahead in the polls while he showed a poll from 4/28...the same poll from 4/29 and 4/30 showed Clinton ahead. It looks like Clinton will win NC and IN. IF Obama could win the general election he would have won PA having out spent Hilary 4 to 1.....but he still lost.....he can't even buy the votes needed.

The only way Obama could retain the delegate lead was to refuse to let FL and MI re-vote but he caused himself another problem with that great judgement because the DNC will reinstate those states and FL will be counted as voted while MI is still up in the air, Obama will not get as many deligates as Hillary from MI or FL.

I guess that you are young Nat since you believe the BS from msnbc but guess who will get drafted when McCain wins....not Chris Matthews, he just gets lower taxes and not Keith Oberman, he also just gets lower taxes. It will be you that goes to fight Iran and your girl that can't get an abortion even if raped and it will be your own fault for being fool enough to stab the Clintons in the back in favor of McCain....there is no Obama, that is just the empty suit they need to run so McCain can win.
You need to realize that folks like Chris Matthews and Keith Oberman say whatever helps get them viewers but they will vote McCain.......so why do they prefer Obama to Hillary?????Because it is clear that McCain will easily beat Obama while they know Hillary will beat McCain......latest polls have Hillary over McCain by 9% while McCain beats Obama by 1%.

Posted by: jo | May 1, 2008 1:20:04 PM

Nat, I think you are in panic mode. Not to mention obnoxious. You're exactly the reaon why I'm voting McCain.

Posted by: Sonia | May 1, 2008 1:15:48 PM

SamNC, You can take the reverse of that. If Obama was all white and had some crazy preacher he probably would not endure the utter nastinest we've seen. Then again, he would probably be a Republican.

Posted by: indy_voter | May 1, 2008 1:14:43 PM

Hi,

I have a question. I have been a democrat ever since I became eligible to vote. I noticed that some of you said that if Obama is the nominee you will vote for McCain. I will be doing the same and I'm wondering, do you need to change parties or can you still vote McCain while still being a democrat?
Thanks.

Posted by: ron | May 1, 2008 1:03:04 PM

The Democratic party leadership are a bunch of fools if they think that people are going to rally behind Obama IF they can push Hillary aside quickly. There is a large segment of the population who do NOT trust Obama, and as others have said, will vote Republican if Hillary is not the nominee. The fact that he hasn't won a primary since February should tell them something.

In addition, the party leaders already know that Obama CANNOT win in several states that are CRUCIAL in the general election, yet party leaders continue to push Obama down our throats. Add to this the fact that there is more crap yet to be revealed about Obama, and you have the recipe for a Republican win in November.

Maybe I expect too much from the party who got control of Congress, but failed to make good on their promise to put King George Bush in his place.

That is why, as a life-long Democrat, I am supporting RON PAUL, the ONLY honest candidate, and the ONLY candidate with the financial expertise we so desperately need in the White House.

Posted by: nationalobserver | May 1, 2008 1:02:59 PM

I can't wait till it is all over with and McCain carries Obama to the cleaners. Maybe the DMC will wake up and put someone in there other than Obama. Hillary can win, but if she is not the nominee, McCain will make hash of Obama. Then people like Nat Turner can bury their head in the sand. Those people have not realized in the last few weeks Obama has lost most of his credibility to whites, hispanics, cubans, asian accent. That leaves the blacks and the population of the US has only 12.4% blacks. Face the truth.

THE DEL AND SO CALLED SUPER DEL SHOULD VOTE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO PUT MOST OF THEM IN OFFICE. IN MY STATE THEY SAY HILLARY WILL WIN AND SHE WILL BUT OUR DELEGATE IS GIVING HIS SUPPORT TO OBAMA. THEY THINK THEY ARE UNITING THE DEMOCRATES BUT THEY ARE REALLY HELPING THE REPUBLICANS BECAUSE LIKE I SAID WHEN MCCAIN WIPES THE FLOOR WITH OBAMA WE WILL SEE, WHEN HE BRINGS OUT MORE THE THE PROOF OF OBAMA'S RACIST AND NONAMERICAN FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES YOU WILL SEE. I will not do anything that I doubt about that. We have known the good and bad of Hillary Clinton and her family if any for almost 20 years but how much do we know about the Senator Obama? I think we will have more bad news from Obama once Hillary drops out.

Posted by: stock_craft | May 1, 2008 12:48:56 PM

How disappointing. Obama is full of crap—I don't understand how these so-called important people don't see it. Hillary can take on anyone, anytime, anywhere and she will win. Obama, on the other hand, runs from debates, runs from tough interviews, laughs off questions he doesn't feel like answering...this is NOT the kind of baby I want leading our country.

Posted by: Ann | May 1, 2008 12:43:02 PM

If Obama takes the nomination from Hillary, you're going to see alot of soccer Mom's actively campaigning for McCain. Hillary has more than paid her dues, been slandered & bashed in the Obamaphile press & they are FUMING MAD! You can keep your fantasies about Obama winning the GE because that's as close as you're ever going to get.

To everyone whining about voting for McCain or not voting if Barack gets the democratic nomination. That will be too bad as your votes will be sorely missed and needed. However the rest of us real democrats that actually believe in the democratic party we will vote and when Barack becomes President as he will; He won’t hold your biased ignorance against you either.

Super delegates can determine the Dem candidate for this time but again it’s up to the voters in the big states to determine who will be the next US President in this November. With winner take all and no caucus in general election, I see no chance that Obama can win if he is the nominee of Dem party.
I am the registered Dem but for the first time, I will be proud to vote for the GOP candidate John McCain.

The DNC is trying to push Obama/Wright down the throats of Americans will cost the Democrats the Presidency, the House and Senate. They never learn and keep repeating the same mistakes election after election. Because of losing life-long Democrats, like myself, who will support McCain if Obama/Wright is the nomineee, maybe some new leaders will emerge that can put the Democrats back on track as this bunch continues to be losers.

LOL... One has stated "I guess the people get what they deserve....

Well guess what, that went out many, many moon ago.. This country does NOT deserve "4 more years"...remember who coined that one ...same one that stole the election in FLA..

Other side of the coin... OBAMA and his many political facets (not sure if he should be running in THIS country...the Nazi thing and ole reverand has got me worried.)

and oh yes, more of the same piled higher and deeper.with the Clintons,?!?! Degree title "BSMSPHD" do we really deserve that?
One only has to look back a very short while ago to see the blunder of NAFTA...now the open borders and surprisingly?..the lousy economy..

Naaaaw...!! I think all of the present candidates should be thrown out, clean the slate and start over....Independant is looking best it ever has, except you never hear any about them.

The reasoning by this particular Superdelegate does not make sense. Somehow he has convinced himself that the primary elections need to be stopped short because Obama is in a nose dive.

Check out today's polls... very bad news for Obama... maybe this guy will switch back after he views them for himself.

Posted by: nickberry | May 1, 2008 12:19:10 PM

Nat Turner -- Extremely wrong assessment. Obama will foolishly take the nomination thus giving the win to McCain. This is the country that re-elected Bush and is downright hostile at the DNC for pushing Obama. I would place a large bet that Obama doesn't come within 10 points of beating McCain.

Seriously, face facts folks! Why would the Republicans be silent on Hillary and attack Only Obama with such fury?

You attack the opponent you most want to defeat. If they defeat him during the primary, they don't have to face him in November!

Obviously they beleive Clinton will be a cakewalk to defeat compared to Obama.
Otherwise, wouldn't they be attacking her instead? Even a little bit?

Come on, it's right in front of your faces!!

Obama supporters such as Nat Turner always surprise me, and I guess I shouldn't be after hearing it from them for so long. But I am always shocked when they personally attack people who are for Clinton on the blogs or HRC herself, but then they are supporting Obama because he will unify people and supposedly doesn't succumb to dirty politics. Maybe you all should practice what your candidate preaches.

One other thing, there is no chance that Obama could carry the general election without HRC supporters voting for him and the more he and his supporters talk out of both sides of their mouth the numbers of Clinton supporters that will either not vote, write-in or defect to Mccain will be much higher than 50% (what it is at currently).

1. Obama says he is the great uniter.
2. After a year of his campaigning the country
has never been more divided.
====
Conclusion:
Obama is at best a fool.

nat turner,
mccain will not have any trouble getting votes, and winning, when his base sees bho is running.

hopeful,
sounds to me from most the posts, that bho has hypnotized most blacks with his rhetoric. just who is racist....the 90% blacks who vote for him? nooooo.....

remember, hopeful,
hope is a feeling not action.

If Andrew really cares about his party, he should stay where he was before...

His only arguement to switch his stand is to unite the party behind the one mathamatically leading number of games now....It's just nonsense, in that case he should do it a month ago...

If he truly cares about his party, he should let the process itself chose whoever the strongest nominee is to beat Reps in Nov...

He is gambling his political life just like Obama himself... Next Tuesday Ind voters will let him know he is wrong or not....

Were the Obama supporters born 3 years ago? Don't you remember how everyone hated Bush and were desperate for change 4 years ago? The Democrats nominated a bonafide war hero to run against the chicken hawks, and he was subsequently rejected by the "values voters". Do you honestly believe that these voters will embrace Obama and his pastor's values? Get real.

Is this race about who is best person to do the job or who can dig up the most dirt on the other. Personally I'm sick and tired of the whole thing. I am not a McCain fan, but the Democratic party (Hillary and Abama)are making it so easy for him to win this election, bashing each other and not comming to comman ground. At the end of this malicious fight we will find out who is the best man for the job. Or will we?

Posted by: Eve | May 1, 2008 12:07:48 PM

Women…let’s be honest. If we took a poll right now about 98% of you would say you rather have a man as your boss then a woman. Why is that? Can someone please answer that question? Think about it if you PERSONALLY have a problem with reporting to a woman at your daily job…why would you then want to vote for a woman as president simply because you are a woman? The logic makes no sense. You are not getting the upper hand by voting female vs. male. You are actually hurting yourselves and once again confirming that women are illogical creatures by basing your vote on an emotion and rather than using logic like a man. You are actually feeding into the very stereotypical ideology that Clinton supposedly is against - pathetic.

I will quit the party and will only vote for Hillary if she is not nominated (luckily we have a write-in option in Wisconsin). It doesn't make sense to nominate someone that can't win the general election. There is something fishy going on with these people just suddenly switching or choosing Obama. He has had a horrible week or couple of weeks and is looking weaker by the moment. Why would you switch/select now? It doesn't make much sense to me.

Posted by: Andrea | May 1, 2008 12:01:59 PM

It so saddens me to read all these racist rants on these posts. It is obvious that all these folks bashing Obama can't accept that we have an African-American candidate who is perfectly qualified and capable of leading the country. And he is giving a lot of us hope for a better future. His rhetoric is not empty -- he is a charismatic guy, why is that so wrong people?? I so look forward to having President Obama in the White House.

Posted by: Hopeful | May 1, 2008 12:01:13 PM

Mack, I agree with you that the Democratic party is self-destructive. I will also point that Bill Clinton only received 42% of the vote in 1992 and only 49% in 1996. He never received a majority. There are lots of folks outside the Democratic who do not trust the Clintons. I do not see that changing...and of course Republicans will do everything they can to remind voters why the Clintons should not be trusted..

Posted by: indy_voter | May 1, 2008 11:58:18 AM

indy voter,
bill had a 65% approval rating when he left office despite all that happened. most said he could have won a third term
gore lost because he distanced himself from clinton, not letting him campaign, etc.

Posted by: pp | May 1, 2008 11:56:53 AM

Nat Turner

six out or eight isn't bad.

Do you actually believe everything you read, hear or search on the internet? First, I have never heard of Black Liberation Theology, well not until the media placed a label (stereotype) on all Black Churches. Second, look at each candidate before you pass judgment. For example; Senator Clinton’s campaign received over $800,000 from a questionable contributor, however your reliable sources only mentioned her scandal for about 30 seconds. So please don’t be fooled.

Looks like Obama will lose both NC and Indiana. That will be good practice for him as he will lose more than 40 states in the general election if the DNC is foolish enough to nominate him. Obviously Joe is afraid that Obama will have lost the popular vote handily by June 3rd and must have been bought off to make Obama the first black nominated by the DNC but in the end we will only add Obama to a long list of also rans that looks a lot like his list of endorsers...Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Bill Richardson.....

To prevent this type of crap from happening again please people vote against any elected official in your state that emdorses Obama. I and the majority of MA will be voting against Kennedy, Kerry and Patrick the next time they are each on the MA ballot. This state voted overwhelmingly for Clinton before all the "Wright" and "bitter comments" stuff and inspite of the fact that these three elected officials endorsed him. No Ted Kennedy, No John Kerry, No Duval Patrick and NOBAMA!!!!!!!!!Vote Hillary Clinton and if she is not on the ballot Vote McCain.

Keep in mind that we know very little about Obama but what we do know is very concerning and certainly not a person I want in the Whiter House. The money Hillary has been getting over the internet is amazing but the money Obama has been getting is questionable.....think folks, the popular vote counting FL and MI has Hillary ahead but the money collected through internet is lopsided in favor of Obama. Obama is 50% white 47.3% Arab and 2.7% black so where is his money coming from????

Posted by: jo | May 1, 2008 11:51:14 AM

Believe me...the Clinton's are NOT bringing Obama down to their level. Obama was lower than them all along. I mean come on...to play such nasty politics and to be so hypocritical and lie SO early on in your political career?

This has got to be a record for someone in politics. Congratulations Obama...you did something right!

Posted by: fryck | May 1, 2008 11:50:16 AM

bho is like the wizard in the wizard of oz...all smoke, mirrors, and huge distractions. however, when you pull back the curtain you find a scared little man who is incapable of doing anything.

Posted by: pp | May 1, 2008 11:49:46 AM

The Democratic party is so out of touch and it appears that they have their hearts set on losing another presidential election. Nominate Obama, and lose in a landslide.

Posted by: Mack | May 1, 2008 11:46:59 AM

If it wasn't for the Clinton's teaching Obama how to stand up to pee where would he be? His pastor tells it to all of us. Obama is a Politician! I believe wRight called Obama wrong! After all, Wright has known him for 20 years we have only seen the smoke! With nothing accomplished, but speeches what are we thinking in the African-American Community? Obama's wife even states that she wasn't "...American" until recently.

Posted by: Angry Black Man | May 1, 2008 11:44:43 AM

Rick, At least we know Hillary? Yeah, but what I know of the Clintons I do not like. Their approach to politics and sleaziness is extremely distasteful to me and no better than the worst of the Republicans. And one thing we've learned about the Clintons is that is always another scandal just around the corner. And I will say this....bringing Obama down to the level of the Clintons does enhance the Clintons image in my eyes. It diminishes it.

Posted by: indy_voter | May 1, 2008 11:44:13 AM

For all of the Obama supporters. Your Candidate professes to be the candidate for hope and change stating that he does not want to play the political games that are currently played in Washington. Please tell me, how much hope and change do you think there will be after he has to fulfill all of the promises he has made, and pay off his debts to those who would put him in office (his cabinet should almost be full by now). Do not be so naive as to believe that Obama does not play politics as usual.

Posted by: someonewhoknows | May 1, 2008 11:43:54 AM

Indy...my right to vote in this country is not tied to a particular party. To get anywhere in politics you must belong to one of the two in order to get anywhere and to do anything. This just does not matter to me anymore.

The point is...I KNOW about the Clintons, both the bad and the good. I believe them both to be good leaders. I RESEARCH the facts and am not swayed by the media and their biased attitude for or against specific candidates.

I will not vote for the sake of a party that:

1. Disenfranchises millions of voters, especially after what happened in 2000

2. Puts ridiculous rules in place and does not make an effort to make the dem selection process more fair

3. is moving ultra left and bringing back the tax and spend mantra

I WILL vote for the PERSON that can LEAD our country and work with both
parties to improve.

If that means voting for McCain to keep an ultra liberal like Obama out...then so be it. This is NOT to say that I have not researched what McCain is all about.

The Clintons do not hide behind words. We know who they are. Some voters do make an effort to get to know who they are voting for, rather than voting for a person who has shown time after time to be void of substance.
