How Badly Is the Presumptive Democratic Nominee Going to Be Shellacked in W.V.?

May 10, 2008 5:20 PM

Doesn't look good anecdotally for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in West Virginia this Tuesday.

Party insiders say Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., might beat him in the Mountaineer State on Tuesday by 30 points.

Yikes!

You want to know why superdelegates are trickling but not stampeding to Obama's side? His electoral weaknesses with white working-class voters, as evidenced by this pending stompage.

Of course, that doesn't change the daunting delegate math for Clinton. West Virginia has a mere 28 delegates, followed by Kentucky (51) and Oregon (52) on May 20; Puerto Rico (55) on June 1; and Montana (16) and South Dakota (15) on June 3.

Obama made a huge tactical error by not campaigning in WV(him stopping there the day before the primary is not that all helpful either). Of course Hillary is gone but losing to her by over 20 points when he is the nominee is not good and just proves Hillary right. Imagine if Ron Paul beat McCain in Pennsylvania or any other primary after he clinched the nomination. Yes its true some Republicans are still voting for Huckabee and Paul but they are not making McCain lose states by 20 points now are they. Seriously Obama you should of campaigned vigoriously in WV you would of closed the gap and you would of ended it for Hillary now she will stay in until June 3 guarenteed once again Obama can't close the deal even when everyone is saying he is the nominee. Obama I want you to win but dude you need to step up and end this.

Posted by: Gonzalo | May 12, 2008 3:27:59 PM

Hillary Supporters! Keep praying! A huge win in WV could start the delgates, MI, Fl, Edwards endorsements, Guam truth and more! If we unite in prayer it will work! Thanks!

Posted by: jeep395 | May 12, 2008 12:10:43 PM

I can see a scenario where Clinton closes the gap and gets within 100 pledged delegates and ahead in popular vote without FL and MI. Isn't that what the Clinton team have been saying all along?

Oh that's right Obama's talking points have become reality...it really is supposed to be a nomination "given" to whoever is ahead....and forget about FL and MI

Posted by: Jackie | May 12, 2008 10:33:40 AM

...delegates maths ....and FL and MI will go away too ... then Dean and Pelosi sleep better tonight

Posted by: csquan | May 12, 2008 10:07:48 AM

I have an idea that may just work ... since BHO cannot win the swing states such as OH, PA and Bubbaland such WV....have Dean and Pelosi persuade him to drop out of the race NOW, concede and accept a VEEP spot on Clinton ticket...then the campaign deficit thing will also go away. The best exit strategy for the situation the DEMS right now. No squabble this Summer at the Convention.

questioner, great post!

It gives me great pleasure to see BO's poll rating going down and down and Jim Clyburn's face burning red and green.

Posted by: John_Lai | May 12, 2008 6:49:32 AM

McCain is at least a fighter, a man of honour.

This man ducks, bluffs, shuts on people of millions, do not respect nobody. He is not the type of person you may call dependable; a con man.

FACTCHECK has been telling us this guy is being negative and lies in making false accusations. That is his smearing technique which has been so far. Now his target is McCain.

The paid hands on the internet for this guy never quits doctoring credential and making fouls. He is not a person of integrity. By comparison, Hillary is honestly fighting for the nomination with guts and hard work.

Posted by: John_Lai | May 12, 2008 6:40:08 AM

It was shocking to read that BO in a rally early this year, said to people that they experienced the light coming down on them and that's epiphany and if they didn't know what to do just walk out and go vote for OB.
Then I noticed that the OB supporters were very agressive. So I thought there was something wrong. If this man is so godly then the supporters cannot express so much hate towards HC. It came to my mind that it looks closer to magic than to a real godly experience of goodness.
It was reported (there was an article in New York Times in february I think) that lots of people were depressed after attending a BO rally and some of them had to see a therapist. Even though they still felt they were deeply connected to him.
I suggest to people who don't believe in him not to mention his name fully because magic can be done in such a way to invest a name with such energy to attract all kind of approval towards the person behind the name and therefore blind the judgement of voters.
I feel there is something that does not look and sound right to me. It has been said that he is a brilliant speaker. In debates with HC he didn't have a smooth breathing and didn't outmatch her. Worse, he even looked like he didn't have a vision.
I suggest not to mention his name fully so not to activate the power of it.

Dave:

Obama NEVER says anything about race to anyone.... He doesn't have to.

He has his posters do the dirty work for him... after all, he IS the teflon man. They were the ones in the beginning who brought the race card out... from South Carolina right on down the line.

They blamed Bill Clinton, one of their staunchest supporters, for putting it into play! Except that it was a flagrant lie, it was a brilliant move on the part of B O...and the black Joker has been kept in play ever since!

His posters have dredged up every bit of crap they could come up with ..... from the little blue dress to her use of pant suits to the donations the Clintons make to their foundation.
They neglect carrying that topic further because it would show how magnificently charitable the Clintons have been to this country!
His followers are the bigots... not Hillary or her followers. They were the ones who voted in blocks of 92% and 91% for their leader. How could this not be considered racist!

Some whites were in the mix... just as some blacks are strong for Hillary.... and all these are the blessed ones for, either way, they obviously used their Minds to come to a decision.

What will happens during the next election? Latinos have a lot of growth and citizenship bestowed upon many because of their American born children will strengthen their voting rights even more.

Will the next election require that a Latino become president?

Must an Asian follow the Latino?

Possibilities.... but shouldn't they be required to be meet some sort of STANDARDS?

Like patriotism, proven service to our country, brilliance and the ability to think on one's feet?

In any case, the accomplishments Hillary has brought to this country ahave been ignored and all attention by these posters have been re-focused on stuff for which she was unaccountable for and for which she has suffered.

They did this while B O Plenty was travelling the 57 (my! how we've grown!) states of the union in search of his throne.

They did this while B O was sticking up
for Pastor Wright and throwing his white grandmama under the bus. I can still see him being almost suffocated by about eight enormous American flags has he preached his race speech to America and the world!

They did this the second time, some weeks later, while B O was "dissing" pastor Wright and throwing HIM under the bus.

We thought this was rather twofaced... but the mediocre media absorbed it all into its predetermined plot to take him on his soar to Washington.... as if this were just a fairy tale to be taped in Hollywood and sold to Loews.

And the brilliance and accomplishments of Hillary were ignored .. not only by B O's oftimes foul-mouthed followers but also by the members or the press.

Obama's slogan is "change".His cousin Raila Odinga who he supported both financially and politically during his recent bloody struggle for power in Kenya, ran under "Agent for Change" and George Bush also ran for "Change".

So far, the only change I see in this election is one which might lead us back to the mid=-fifties.

Be careful who you vote for.

Be very very careful.

I'm for Hillary, and I approve this message!

I have given Hillary ALOT of money and I am moving it all to McCain if Obama is my party's nominee. They keep predicting we'll unite? No we won't. Not a single Hillary supporter here in FLA that I know will vote for him. He dissed FLA and now FLA will diss him. Didn't want my vote to count, so now he won't get my vote.

Posted by: Lorraine | May 11, 2008 10:56:31 PM

bluebird,

I don't go around calling people racist. Actually, i call out ANYONE i see throwing that accusation around...it's BS. I can't point you to munberable posts where i do that...even if it's thrown at a Republican. It's destroys any opportunity for dialogue. Maybe there are some Obama supporters who have labeled you such, but i would venture to say that Obama himself would NEVER make such an accusation. His campaign has been the antithesis to what JJackson and ASharpton are all about.

Calling someone a racists is a cop out, and i won't do it. I object to your assuming i would resort to such a thing without knowing me. That is just as irresponsible as someone calling you a racist.

I'd like to know what it is about the Obama platform/candidacy you object to. I read visceral posts here regarding dislike or Obama,, but most of it does not refer to actual quantifiable issues. Is it a defensive perch you take in supporting BClinton? Is it the gas tax? What is it? Whatever it is, is it enough to cause you to vote for a guy who puts a lobbyist in charge of the Republican National Convention who lobbied for the junta in Burma? Do you dislike him that much? Do you dislike him enough to vote for someone who promises 100 more years in Iraq?

Hillary supporters unite to STOP OBAMA in the fall if he's the nominee! Don't let the bullying men get their way yet again! Obama and his supporters have bashed Hillary with their friends in the media for months. Yet he slides with this farce of a speech on race they the media fawned over that has now been shown to be a lie. Our party has pushed around the wrong people--the women and working class who are its backbone. He can't win on the black vote alone. We can live through 4 more GOP years if we lived through the last 8. Who wants Obama high taxes anyway. I'd rather a war hero get the presidency than Obama the anti-american who couldn't even stand up to his racist, unpatriotic pastor. I'd rather elect a MAN who stands up for this country than the girlie man Obama.

Posted by: Jerry | May 11, 2008 10:53:23 PM

he's only the presumptive nominee because you media types have said us. Us democrats are waiting for the race to finish and all voters and the DNC to have their say. He has a REAL problem with white working class voters and yes, I'm saying the word white..oh boo hoo. Obama wants to have a conversation on race only if he's the one doing the talking. The minute anyone else does his surrogates scream race baiting. Obama has race baited the entire primary season, firing up blacks that the white boogey man, in this case, the Clintons who have worked tirelessly for civil rights causes, are out to steal what is theirs. That's called affirmative action...nominating somone just because they are black. But what can we expect from a guy who supported a racist, hate monger of a pastor for 20 years. Obama is the most racially divisive political figure in our country's history. The most liberal nominee and the weakest. I'm a dem who wants him to lose just so his arrogant, bullying supporters don't get their way.

That concept of politics has run its course. Rove and Hillary have knocked down their las straw man. We are better than this. We are about to prove it to ourselves and everyone else out there. Come on aboard...you are all welcome and there is plenty of room.

No way. I've had enough of your candidate and his supporters. Yes, I know, I'm a racist for saying this.

Posted by: bluebird | May 11, 2008 9:48:22 PM

I hope the rank hostility here against Obama's candidacy wanes come the Fall. Bill is destroying a candidacy to save his wife's. It's not admirable. He's feeding rural voters BS about being neglected and laughed at by the "elites". Give me a break, Bill. I thought you were better than that. I voted for you twice, defended you down here in RED Texas when all my friends/co-workers cursed your name for lying to your wife, your daughter and your country. I defended you, sir.

Now you go around planting ideas in people's heads...people whose support we need in the fall. People who, if they follow your advice, will again vote agianst their interest in the fall by voting for McCain because BClinton came down there and told them Obama thinks they are lesser people. Classless, Bill.

I think voters will wise-up to you in due time. This train is moving downhill and you and your wife can't stop it. All your surrogates are peeved becasue they will be losing their influence in the Party once Obama is the defacto leader. That's why we get these hostile rants from the likes of Carville, Begala, Lanny Davis, Joe Wilson and Larry Johnson. Their time is over, and they can't fathom the idea just yet.

So, i hope all you supporters of Hillary will hop on board in the fall. There is a new dynamic evolving in politics. Millions of volunteers will be out on the street this fall camaigning for a man they truly believe in. Obama is a decent man, with a new approach to politics. He's not perfect...and he's not the freakin' devil. We all must hitch our wagon to his candidacy this fall, look at the alternative. The alternative will lose out...maybe not this fall, but they will lose out.

That concept of politics has run its course. Rove and Hillary have knocked down their las straw man. We are better than this. We are about to prove it to ourselves and everyone else out there. Come on aboard...you are all welcome and there is plenty of room.

Those of you saying LOL about Obamas supporters being intimidating are completely lost. I was in Nevada and Texas and the supporters were brutal. They verbally attack people based on physical appearance and assumptions and they misled people. Well, all one needs to do is read Obama supporters posts to know it's true. The media is hiding the fact that Obama supporters are this way and I wonder why? The Jefferson-Jackson dinner was a perfect example of how disgraceful their behavior is, but we didn't hear anything on the news about it did we?

Posted by: irma | May 11, 2008 5:18:50 PM

questioner said ::: are you confirming that Obama is going to attack anyone who doesn't vote for him and send his troops out to riot and pilfer?

Nah blacks usually only murder loot and burn down buildings where they live then blame the whites. With Liberal Democrats cheering them on. The news loves this so also blames the WHITES

JUST WONDERING:

At least 31,000 OF THE N C VOTES FOR
B O were double-counted.... not that it counted there B U T

Obama, always did so much better in caucuses and we know there was a lot dirty stuff going on in Texas.

Isn't it plausible that there was a lot of underhanded voteknapping and switcheroo in the other caucus states as well?

Posted by: questioner | May 11, 2008 4:32:52 PM

and lets not forget-yes bill clinton had an affair with a woman in the white house.
but the impeachment was a witch hunt and all right thinking people know it.
it was the dumb right' way of trying to hurt him. and he stupidly put a bullseye on his back. but as far as helping the american people economically bill clinton did it.
and he did what he could to level the playing field for the poor black people.

LA in Indiana: You have no clue what you're talking about. Bill Clinton left office with a 65% APPROVAL RATING IN THE POLLS! GW Boosh was NOT appointed president because of Bill Clinton! GW Boosh and his SCOTUS STOLE the election. He was never elected and Bill Clinton was loved by a MAJORITY of people in this country when he left office. Get your facts straight before you insult one of our GREATEST Presidents EVER. Okay?

Posted by: Vickie | May 11, 2008 3:18:19 PM

mai,
YOU ARE CORRECT.
dirty politics-
but no matter obama will not win in nov.
once they put obama and wright and ayers up against mccain the war hero. the american people do not know enough aobut obama
he will not be president.
and before someone says something about hagee and mccain
first mccain didn't sit and listen to hagee for 20 years.

obama dumped his preacher for politcal reasons
mccain grabed on to hagee for politcal reasons.
and i will still bet mccain the war hero will win out.

Posted by: jgaw | May 11, 2008 3:13:45 PM

Perhaps the reasons so mny superdelegates are on the Obama bandwagon is because he has promised financial help during their next election or even maybe a high-paying government job when he is elected. That is the kind of campaigns and politics he has always followed and will continue to follow. It has absolutely nothing to do with best qualifications and best character. It is just very dirty politics.

Don't be afraid if people saying you are racist for saying it.
I don't think it's racist.
I keep saying it too.
I know I'm not racist myself, I favor black people .I watch their movies,I listen to their songs, I make friend with them.
It's tha fact. Sam Donaldson said it on the George S this morning. He said probably people might call hin a racist after his comment.
Obama should face it in the GE.

The number of elected delegates won
in the primaries and the caucuses is the only thing that matters.

The number of states won, the popular vote, the specious electability argument and other similar criteria count for nothing. Superdelegates have never nominated a candidate who finished with fewer delegates in the
primaries and the caucuses.

=========================================

Oh, really. The contests are not over until June 3. As I pointed out before, Clinton has a voter pool of nearly twice that of Obama, giving her West Virginia, Kentucky and Puerto Rico, and giving him Oregon, South Dakota and Montana. On the strength of this alone, the probability is that Clinton will wind up with a larger popular vote, more PLEDGED delegates (she's only 78 off the pace at this point) and yes, her potential Electoral College strength, based on performance to date, will count for a lot, as will experience and knowledge. As I said before, "Super Delegates" do not matter at this point. They should not be counted, as they are not PLEDGED to any candidate, even though they may have endorsed one. Some, as you may have noted have switched their endorsements, which is proof of what I am talking about. An endorsement does not equal a vote, period. If it goes to a DEADLOCKED Convention, then the "Super Delegates" matter, but not before. Therefore, the true scorecard, as of May 11, 2008 is: Obama 1,410 and Clinton 1,332 with a difference of 78. Of course that will change on Tuesday, won't it? But it won't be in Obama's favor.

rant-if hillary does not try to speak up for the rural people, who is there to speak for them? obama is not? if bill is there saying whatever he is saying to them-it IS because no one else is speaking for them.
if the rural white have been neglected it is obama who has neglected them

Posted by: justsaying | May 11, 2008 1:59:50 PM

the truth is obama supporters, you may have won the battle of beating sen. clinton (and maybe, in your short sight that is all you wanted to do) but if you really thought obama would be president-he will not.
because of your choice in the primaries
we will all be hearing the name
president mccain-in the end (even if it is against they better interest) no way will obama win against john mccain the war hero. after we get finished with see the video' of mccain getting off that plane a freed pow. against obama and rev. wright-obama will wish he had not run for president.
no matter that mccain voted against offering more for the vets of today.
it will be interesting to see how he will cut down mccain.
obama will not win the POTUS

Hillary is the one that's trying to cause a major drift between some of these white blue collars by making it seem as if she's the ONLY candidate that can make this demographic vote democrat in the general election. Bill Clinton, on his many town stop speeches, will tell the crowd that Hillary is here because of people like 'them' and she's the only candidate that will fight for people like 'them' painting Obama as some kind of out of touch elitist – this is the kind of tactic one would use to total separate a voter’s frame of mind againt a candidate and you’d think the Clinton’s would realize that they are hurting someone in their own party. This division the Clinton campaign wants to create and they could care less if they destroy the party. If Clinton will step out of the way or at least stop her negative one-sided campaigning, Obama will be given the opportunity to do even better with this group. But right now it appears that Hillary is prolonging this fight to make it more difficult for Obama in the general election. Shame on her SNL yesterday was right.

Truth about the Clintons years -- A MIXED BAG THEY WERE!

1. If the 'Clintons years' were that great, why did the American people DID NOT want to continue the Clinton legacy with Al Gore?

After all, the 'Reagan years' were gambled with for at least 4 more years of Daddy Bush?

2. American people were so put off by the Clinton barefaced lie ('I did not have sex with that woman').

3. Americans were put off by the Clinton bad example of 'cheating on wife' to America's husbands.

4. Americans were put off by the Clintons taking advantage of Monica Lewinski, a woman young and naive enough to be their own daughter.

5. Americans were put off by Clinton debasing the White House that they DID NOT want a continuation of the Clinton years.

6. Americans were so put off by the IMPEACHED Clintons that they did not want Al Gore continuing the corrupted legacy of the Clintons.

7. Economy was great during the Clinton years.

8. The self-centered and self-absorbed Clintons SELFISHLY DESTROYED THEIR OWN LEGACY, just as Hilary is REPEATING before our eyes!

9. The Clintons debased behavior denied Al Gore AND ENABLED BUSH!

10. Clintons years were a MIXED BAG of self-absorbed highs and selfish lows.

11. The Clintons mixed bag so disgusted the American people that they gambled and 'committed suicide' with a bungling Bush!

12. Please!
No more about the 'Clinton years'; because the 'Clinton years' caused the horrible horrible Bush years!

Time for a change to something better for good and decent Americans.

Until 2025 is reached, neither has the nomination. Period. "Declaring" yourself the nominee is just as arrogant and manipulative as I would expect from this upstart.

If passing grade in a class is 60, it does not matter if you have a 57 and I have a 55 - neither one of us passed, unless extra credit (superdelegate count) is offered.

I'm not saying she will win, I'm just expecting (hopelessly, I'm sure) a bit of grace from the winner. Well, with global warming and all, hell won't freeze either, I guess.

As far as Bill Clinton is concerned, can anyone in politics anywhere hold the candle to Bill Clinton for his service for America and the world? He was one of our best presidents! He left office with 450 Billion surpluses! He helped more low, middle and high income Americans to prosper. President Clinton brought us respect and dignity around the world. What more proof do you need? He's respected and beloved not only in American but around the world! How many US presidents have reached that stature? I know dogs howl at the moon but the moon isn't going to fall down. Remember these are the same people in the media who cheered us blindly invade Iraq who are now cheering for Sen. Obama. Our country needs Sen. Hillary Clinton more than ever to pull us out of the slippery slope of decline and to end the nightmare that has lasted for seven years!

You really shouldn't fear intelligence.

And you fear loosing at the DNC convention. S. Obama is great, I admit, but I just don't think that he can win in a GE. He's not experienced, and even if he ge the 90% of the minority votes and a minority of whites, that's all he would get because half the Democrates voted for Clinton. It's a tough situation for the party. And the delegates should decide at the DNC floor who is more electable come Nov. Yeah, I know, I'm a racist for saying this.

Posted by: bluebird | May 11, 2008 11:08:37 AM

There are 50 states. Six territories.
Guantanamo Bay is administered
and controlled by the United States.
Then there is Washington, D.C. They
all have the same President - the POTUS.

That's 58. Obama's 57 is close enough.

Posted by: anon | May 11, 2008 11:03:52 AM

Can some Clinton supporters explain why she is still running since last Primary?

Because she can still win the nomination on the DNC floor if neither gets the 2025.

besides saying "I've been all 57 states..." which is well known now, Sen. Obama has also said, "100 million were killed in Mynnamar...!" and "she was punished with a baby!"

Posted by: charleychaplin | May 11, 2008 11:03:50 AM

Why would you want the clintons back in the White House?

bill clinton disgraced the White House! That is OUR house, we vote to put him there, so who gave him permission to disgrace it? If he wanted to cheat on his wife, he should have found someplace else to do it.

bill clinton is the main reason we got george bush....and you clowns want to put him BACK?

Whoever wins, lets do something about the educational system in this country. Right now it sucks!

2Cents,

Some corrections:

1. Obama will keep war as long as it can (he admitted himself)
2. Obama will increase your tax for sure for his big "change"
3. McCain is a moderate and Obama is too left...

I do not have anything against Clinton but think given the choice Obama is better. But my respect for Clintons have gone down now.

Can some Clinton supporters explain why she is still running since last Primary?

Why can't they accept the fact that Obama got majority of delegates and now almost majority of Super-delegates?

They wanted to seat Michigan and Florida delegates going against the rules as it will favor them now. So if we change the rules after the game has started what will happen in next primaries when any state could anything they like.

About the experience of Clinton, I can only laugh that being a first lady is counted towards the experience she has.

This is the same politics as usual that I hate and one of the main reason I think Obama is way better.

All the Clinton people who will vote for McCain are very welcome to do so if they like

1. Iraq War to continue
2. Tax cut for Rich
3. All other Bush's policy that McCain is adopting to please the Republican base.

Please remember that Majority of people has voted for Obama in Primaries.

when we're this far in and Barack is a lock to win the nomination, the answer changes

how does he win more white middle class voters? balance the ticket. Sebelius would balance nicely, so would Webb. Richardson balance's in a different way that may not help in say, WV but would in other places.

Posted by: Gion | May 11, 2008 10:31:22 AM

I thought in Obamaland there is only 48 states, since he wants to omit Florida and Michigan.

Now he says we have 57 states. He is losing his bearings. Mid-life crisis.

Hillary-McCain-no vote

Tim,

Your comments about California are interesting. I used to live in Massachusetts where there is a similar problem: The legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic. That's why voters elected a series of Republican governors like Mitt Romney to keep the big spenders in check. I could live with Hillary (and Bill) Clinton back in the White House: They are centrists who understand the need for fiscal responsibility. Barack Obama is an ultraliberal who cut his teeth on corrupt Chicago machine politics. John McCain is a moderate Republican who will try to bring about compromise between Dems and Republicans. I'm a lifelong Democrat in NH who plans to vote for McCain if Senator Obama is nominated by my party.

nick,
thank you for your service to our country.
maybe you have missed how the msm has decided obama will be president. and how they have shown nothing but disrespect to sen. clinton.
i wonder how YOU feel about sen. clinton. she has been the most vilified
of ALL of the candidates, the msm laid into her from the beginning saying she felt it was her birthright to be president and so forth. sen. clinton has been a good american citizen, and has tried and done a lot of good for this country. and the msm has not recognized it at all. sen. obama has a short record to show, and they have put him up to be some type of savior of the country. he had no record. so all they could do, is tear her down for him.

charliechaplin
as a 53 year old black supporter of sen. clinton, i hope she runs as an independent, i will vote for her.
I hope she does not let obama pay off her debts for her brain to help him win.
everybody knows she is smarter than he is.
we americans are fools to put someone who has such a short political resume'
and who we know so little about. just fools we are. race was not an issue at the top of the politcal list this year.
and i wish people would stop saying sen.clinton played the race card first, she did not. if you would just think about it. it was not to her advantage to play the race card. she had the black support, obama had to cut into it.
obama and crew played the race card first. people latched on to it, because they couldn't believe or didn't want to believe obama would, and some people will blame anything bad THEY can think up on the clintons.
if it wasn't a race thing with the black people they would have paid attention to the issues of both and many not all would have stayed with sen. clinton. the black upper middle class will do well with anyone in office. it is the workingclass and poor blacks who will suffer. and i am sure when obama starts to go south and the sheen wears off-the clintons will be blamed.
I hope and pray sen. clinton will do no more than say vote for obama and no more.
i think it will be a shame if she is expected to lend her brain power to help him win.
he thinks she is so inexperienced, let her go on her way.
he can win with kennedy!
so the stumbling, fumbling dummy with the money wants to buy the girl with the brain.
I hope she will not sell.

GraniteMan: You make an interesting point. I've been involved in politics here in California, and I believe, like you, that it works best when there is some sort of balance. I am a lifelong Democrat, however, here in California when the legislature and the governor were controlled by the Democrats, there was some pretty irrational legislation coming from Sacramento. Unfortunately, I think that a divided government which gets less done, is better than a government which is controlled by one party with essentially the same ideology. I do believe, however, that a centrist candidate from either party, may accomplish the same benefit. That's why I support Hillary Clinton first, John McCain second.

rrt,
Yeah they did push BHO on us. But the fact is half the country didn't buy it. This should be a wake up call to all Americans do DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH about the candidates from here on out and don't let the MSM or Dean, Pelosi or anybody else tell you who to vote for!

This is an excellent point. It was really weird about the media. I couldn't stand MSNBC anymore, switched.

Posted by: bluebird | May 11, 2008 10:08:51 AM

WV and KY will go for Sen. Clinton. Barack Obama will get the nomination. John McCain will the November election. And that's a good thing, too. Imagine a Congress with large Democratic majorities, Nancy Pelosi from SF as House Speaker and Barack Obama in the Oval Office. That's a recipe for out-of-control federal spending and even larger national debt. We need John McCain in the White House to negotiate reasonable compromises and then wield the veto pen as needed.

Posted by: Graniteman | May 11, 2008 10:06:18 AM

the redundant pundits continue to push the notion that a ticket with clinton on it would not be in the best interest of the country. hmm, seems the people pushing this idea are nervous about a former successful, popular, highly intelligent and patriotic two term president as the spouse of either the next president or vice president. interesting how they can pontificate non-stop on how a 20 year relationship between obama and his highly opinionated mentor and minster was no problem for him to handle, but they're saying he can't handle bill?

I find it disturbing that some people have posted that African Americans have voted for Sen. Obama on the basis of skin color. What about the droves of women that have voted for Sen. Clinton solely on the basis that she's a woman? If Sen. Clinton gets 90% of the white vote in WV, will you also say that that was based on skin color? I personally don't care who anybody votes for. I respect your right to do so. I also defend that right. I'm a Soldier in the U.S. Army. What disturbs me is the anger and villification of the respective candidates. Then to say that African Americans are voting for Sen. Obama solely because of skin color offends me.

The Democratic nomination has already
been won by Obama.

H "Repulsive" Clinton is tilting at
windmills for nothing. It's garbage time. The game is already over.

Posted by: anon | May 11, 2008 9:45:30 AM

I have never heard H "Repulsive" Cinton start and finish a sentence.

Well at least she can put a sentence together and think on her feet. Sen. Obama takes too much time getting something across, it just makes him look indecisive. I don't think your candidate is repulsive. Unlike you, I have respect for all the candidates. I like him, I just don't think he's ready.

Hillary Clinton running strong everywhere! Now, Obama folks are running scared having manipulated many a caucus with small groups of zealots. Obama has not won a single battle ground state! He’s been propped up by the big media for so long, that’s to get rid of Hillary Clinton. Obama is the corporate candidate. But people are behind Sen. Hillary Clinton all the way! For example, conservative political writers like David Brooks, William Kristol, Robert Novak and others who were promoting and pulling for Obama and condemned Hillary Clinton are now turning back to McCain. All that was a big media ploy and just about to poke a hole in Obama’s balloon!

Sen. Hillary Clinton should run as an independent candidate for president in the fall--I bet she can defeat both Obama and McCain. This would be like Sen. Joe Lieberman who lost in the democratic primary, but won in the general election! She could also get 80 million in public financing. Bill Clinton won a three-way race in’92, remember? Dump the creeps in the DNC!
Let’s hope and pray for Independent Hillary for 08!

comes on I go to a different channel.

Now there are reports she's going to
fight like hell for the Number 2 spot.

A disgusting loser.

Posted by: anon | May 11, 2008 9:31:14 AM

You want to finally see a third party? All HRC has to do is announce ala Leiberman that she's gonna run as an Independent. We've been waiting to rid ourselves of the 2 party system for a long long time. Now that the DNC is re-making themselves into ONLY the young and inner city voter ( see Donna Brazile for more info), its time for an Independent President.

She'll beat him by more than 30 points. That's also a swing state he's IGNORING. Popular vote means plenty to Super Delegates. Winning states we will need to win in November means plenty to Super Delegates.

Any major white votes Mr. Hope got in earlier states was because the racist Rev. Wright was an unknown to them. I'm sure there's millions who wish they could take their votes back and they will IN NOVEMBER....should Mr. Hope be allowed to STEAL this election by not counting MI and FL.
