Huckabee on Novak's Column: "It's Total and Absolute Nonsense"
May 12, 2008 2:45 PM
Bob Novak today has a column suggesting that some "U.S. Christians are not reconciled to McCain's candidacy but instead regard the prospective presidency of Barack Obama in the nature of a biblical plague visited upon a sinful people. These militants look at former Baptist preacher Huckabee as 'God's candidate' for president in 2012. Whether they can be written off as merely a troublesome fringe group depends on Huckabee's course...
"One experienced, credible activist in Christian politics who would not let his name be used told me that Huckabee, in personal conversation with him, had embraced the concept that an Obama presidency might be what the American people deserve," Novak writes. "That fits what has largely been a fringe position among evangelicals: that the pain of an Obama presidency is in keeping with the Bible's prophecy.
"According to this activist, at the heart of the let-Obama-win movement is longtime Virginia conservative leader Michael Farris -- the nation's leading home-school advocate, who is now chancellor of Patrick Henry College (in Purcellville, Va.) for home-schooled students. Best known politically as the losing Republican candidate for lieutenant governor of Virginia in 1993, Farris is regarded as one of the hardest-edged Christian politicians. He is reported in evangelical circles to promote the biblical justification for an Obama plague-like presidency."
I e-mailed Gov. Huckabee for a response, and he quickly shot back: "it’s total and absolute nonsense! I told Bob this last week in a phone call. He went with the story with his 'unnamed source.' Should have been listed as an 'unbrained source.' He must have liked the story no matter how ludicrous it is. There was NO conversation between Mike Farris and me to that effect. None. I don’t know of anyone who feels that 'America deserves Obama.'
"I have no idea where this comes from unless from someone jealous because of the really good relationship that I have with McCain and hoping to diminish it. You guys (in the media) need to remember that I was the one guy who didn’t have to take back a thing I ever said about McCain since if anything, I was accused of being TOO supportive of him."
Huck notes that he also wrote about this on the Huckablog today.

I have been appalled at the ignorance of some of the comments posted. America has had its share of good presidents, bad president, and ugly worthless presidents, like the one we have now. How many lies did the last 10 tell that we fell for and the last one (Bush)we grabbed onto a 2nd term. J. Kennedy was charismatic, made us excited, and made us believe. I don't recall anyone calling him evil. Those were turbulent times as well.We were at war out of the country as well as in the country (civil rights movement was hot). Obama is no more inexperienced or naive than the president we have now.I believe he's more honest and he's (Obama) is not looking to make his bank account fatter at the expense of the American people. McCain scares me because he's in a time warp.He wants any other country to pay for his misfortune of being prisoner of war. First he said war!!! now his ads are saying now let's bring home the guys. When is he gonna start having mind slippages like Regan. He's really too old.Every 40 yrs is a new generation, he's almost behind by 2. Mr. Huc will say anything to anybody to get in-what do ya wanna hear? All I'm saying is people Obama IS bi-racial. This would be the first time in our history America was really being represented by the people, for the people.

Read the last verse of chapter 13 of the Last Book of of the Bible ( Obama/Clinton = anti-christ?)and get ready, repent!!! The USA has become enslaved to selfishness by its so-called "freedom/liberation" We must remember: abortion, homosexuality, pornography, etc. is the junk which leads to Hell! Helping others through total selflessness is the Pathway to Heaven, to REAL "Freedom"...

I'm noticing that the debate regarding Obama is one largely based on emotions; that is, I see very few remarks for or against him that are based on his voting record, what he has or hasn't done while in office, or even whether he has experience enough to be the leader of the free world.
What concerns me more than anything about an Obama presidency is, I feel the man is far too naive- he does not seem to grasp that there are some men in the world who are just plain evil, and as history has shown us time and again, you cannot reason with evil. In this day and age, that is something (at least in my mind) which should be well understood. That he doesn't get it is scary. Furthermore, he speaks brilliantly of uniting our country, of bi-partisanship, when in reality his voting record shows nothing of the sort. How can he honestly speak of being able to bring his fellow countrymen/women together when he hasn't shown the ability to do so? Have you ever in your life gotten hired for a job without being able to show a past work history that reflects what you say you can do? And beyond that, he hasn't even completed one Senate term. He has not been a US senator for a full six years, yet he (and apparently many others) believes he is a qualified candidate? I find that mentality arrogant at best, ignorant at worst.
I would like to know exactly what the Senator from Illinois plans to do to bring about unity in Washington. I'd like to know what "changes" he is going to make on capitol hill that will benefit the lives of ordinary americans. I would like to know how those "changes" work, because it's all well and good to say you're going to do something, but what really matters is how you actually go about doing it. Free health care for every american (and illegal working in the US)? GREAT! But how are you going pay for it? Bring all of our troops home where they're safe and sound? LOVE IT! But I'm curious- is that just from Iraq because it's a political hotbed for the Presidential race? How do you plan on getting them out of there without creating the kind of instability that will likely lead to civil war and create a haven for terrorist cells? How does that make us safer? I'd really like Obama to answer those questions.

I can't believe I even read this. I too believe BHO could be the anti-christ. Everyone is so caught up in him that they can not see through his BS. God Bless us everyone!

Isn't Bob Novak in jail for treason yet for bowing the cover of a CIA agent? How did he avoid prison for that?
Posted by: trudy | May 13, 2008 9:29:26 AM
Well it seems to me that everyone here is just a little confused. We all know that the people that are not publisized so much are the ones who will split the votes. The mainstream media chooses whom they like and those are the candidate who get the most publicity. It is all pushed and shoved through the media now adays. Years ago there were people who went from door to door campaigning for the Predidential runners. With technology we have lost alot of the intimacy of true campagining. We need to get back to the basics and learn who we are really voting for not the one who's name we hear the most.

I have been watching as this campaign unfolds. Scripture tells of the day when an anti-christ will come. He will be charasmatic. He will speak in a way which excites and comforts. The entire world will be fooled by him. I have told people that I believe Obama represents a for taste of the foolishness of the people who are so easily deceived. Obama at the heart of it is evil. He speaks vainglory. His words are like a clanging symbol.. Loud but empty. What change does he have in mind for America?

This was a good Rebuttal to Bob Novaks article. You stuck to the facts with accuracy and that's hard to find in today's journalism. Thank you Mr. Tapper.

Perot destroyed America?
The last time I checked America was still the world's sole super power.

Robert Novak, the Prince of Darkness, should be in jail for telling the world that Valerie Plame was a CIA agent. Scooter Libby may have told him, but you didn't have to tell everyone in the world. Freedom of the press comes with a responsibility - and Novak should pay the price for his irresponsibility.

Made this comment today on the Article in question by Novak:
Bob Novak, you are still the key to support of the Washington elite I see.
There is not a bit of talk about supporting Obama within the Huckabee
supporters I know of and your article is but one more push in support of the
RNC Nationalists to support their candidate for vice president and in four
years president.
Farris certainly is not speaking for any of the Conservative Christians I
know. As to your consistent mis-use of the word Evangelical, it is but more
truth to your end game.
The coalition of Christians is just that Christians to include Catholic,
Protestant, Baptist, Evangelical, etc.
Governor Huckabee is full support mode for McCain. There is not a better VP
pick out there either. As Paul Weyrich has said, if we all had it to do
again, we would be supporting Mike Huckabee. We now are in support of
McCain and this comes with the assumption of John making for the proper VP
Pick, Huckabee.

The Law states that a delegate elected by a State Party has the right to vote whom they choose. Thus, the Parties have no choice in their National Convention other then to allow for a State without determined delegates, must allow the delegates sent as permitted full uncommitted unpledged status on the first vote. It is the Law. Party rules cannot supersede Law!

BROWN1925: People like you drive me nuts. Perot didn't "destroy America." It's not his fault Clinton was elected. People voted for Perot because--and this really isn't a big secret--BUSH RAISED TAXES!
Plain and simple.
If people choose to vote for Mr. Barr or Mr. Paul this time, it will be because the other candidates failed to inspire those voters. It's not "handing the keys" to anyone. Those voters will be making a clear choice to vote on PRINCIPLE. They'll be voting for someone instead of against someone else. Failing to vote on principle is what has given us the current mess we now call our government.
If McCain loses, he has no one to blame but himself, just as George H.W. Bush had no one to blame but himself for losing to Clinton.

BROWN1925-
Do you realize that Obama actually agreed to seat the Michigan delegates with Hillary getting a larger (albeit unfair) number and SHE DECLINED? She WON the state by being the ONLY candidate on the ballot. They agreed to give her less than what she won by but MORE than OBAMA and she DECLINED!!!! 2008-05-09 08:00:00
LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign opposes Michigan's plan to give fewer delegates to her and more to rival Barack Obama.
The Democratic National Committee stripped Michigan and Florida of their convention delegates for holding their primaries before Feb. 5. Both are looking for compromises that would get their delegates seated.
Michigan Democrats now back a plan that would give Clinton four delegates less than the 73 she gained by winning the state's Jan. 15 primary. Obama would get 59 pledged delegates even though he took his name off the ballot, forcing his supporters to vote for Uncommitted.
A Clinton campaign spokesman said Thursday that the campaign won't support any proposal that gives Clinton less that the delegates she earned winning the primary.

BROWN1925 - Perot destroyed America? Last I remember he didn't get elected. As far as Paul goes: He is the one candidate I felt I could trust, and I liked many of his ideas. I think he would be good for America, especially given the fact he is not beholden to special interests.
