Jenna Bush tells Ellen She Can Use the Ranch for Her Same-Sex Wedding
May 27, 2008 10:49 AM
People Magazine reports that in an appearance on Ellen to air this Wednesday, First Daughter Jenna Hager (nee Bush), sitting with her mother First Lady Laura Bush, tells Ellen DeGeneres that she can use the President's ranch in Crawford for DeGeneres' pending same-sex wedding with actress Portia de Rossi.
"So, the ranch was a great place to get married," DeGeneres says, "it looked like nobody could fly over and get pictures or bother you, really."
"Yeah," says Hager, "that was really nice."
"So, can we borrow it for our wedding," DeGeneres asks. "Can we get the ranch?"
"Sure," says Hager.
"Okay, great," says DeGeneres.

"A moot point - It ain't LEGAL in Texas ;-)."
No, but apparently infanticide is. With the disproportinately large number of "moms" (term used loosely) in Texas who have murdered their children and gotten away with it, all in the name of Jesus, it appears that Texas has a LOT bigger problems than who invited who to that ranch. Seriously...

Hey Alex Jones and Tina.....Just so you know, my same sex marriage is recognized by a church, and thus by God. We were married by an ordained minister from the United Church of Canada.

Alex Jones and Tina: Give me one, just one, single quote from our Lord Jesus Christ condemning same sex unions. Please note that I'm not asking for your interpretation of what He said, but what He actually said.

I hope Jenna's "o'kay" for Ellen to marry at the Ranch, was a joke? Did you think to ask your Dad?

Sure, have the reception at the ranch... and "W" can entertain, doing that old soft-shoe, lame-duck, shuffle dance step he has been practicing.

The polite reply to Ellen's question, "Can we get the ranch?" if Mrs. Hager isn't personally supportive of same-sex unions, is to say, "You'll have to ask Dad." The ranch isn't Mrs. Hager's property, after all.
As for whether the "huge majority" of Californians oppose same-sex marriage, I suspect the margin of the vote in November will be much closer than the same-sex marriage opponents assume. They conveniently forget that Prop. 22 was passed during a primary election, where only party activists and those who cared about the particular issues on the ballot showed up. Thus the moderate middle of Californians were unrepresented. That year, 2,654,114 people voted in the Democratic primary; 2,847,921 voted in the Republican primary. Do we really believe that there are 200k more Republicans than Democrats in California? Of course not -- 5,861,203 Californians voted for Gore, 1.3 million more than for Bush. Anti-same sex marriage initiatives are a great way to get out the conservative vote, but in California, conservatives are not a majority.

That the daughter of a so-called conservative president would lend credence to a life-style that no practicing religion in the world recognizes, is at a minimum, stupid and ill-conceived.

Well, concerning same sex marriage: It doesn't really matter where the ceremony takes place, as long as it's not in a place of Holy worship; such as any church of Christian worship, whether the denomination is Baptist or whatever. A gay wedding is a worldly happening (meaning anything that's not respectful of biblical input). Therefore, no matter what anybody says, such a union can never actually be a marriage because marriage is between a man and a woman. That's the way God created it to be. Truth is truth no matter who disbelieves or how many people ignore it. In the end, when we close our eyes for the very last time, God has the final say. Then there is no political correctness; only God correctness. Yes all love is the same (in response to Ellen's question to John McCain). However, some manners of expressing love are convoluted and not at all according to the scriptures. We don't need to judge each other; God says not to do so anyway because that's His job. We are to love God with all our heart, souls, minds and strengths and then we are to love each other as ourselves. In doing this we accept each other's shortcomings and pray for each other; knowing that, in the end, God has the final say.

Come on people. She may very well be a great girl. Probably is. But you can't ascribe this one line to her views on gay marriage, her political viewpoints in general or her maturity. She was just being polite: whether she meant it or not. What was she supposed to say? "Oh no Ellen, I'm sorry, I believe what you're doing is blasphemy?"

This is the same girl that gave the finger to the press? The same party girl that everybody ragged on as being the problem child???? Now she reaches out to Ellen regarding gay marriage and she then becomes the smart apple??? It appears she is just a good hearted girl that wants everybody to be happy like she is. She has the luxury of showing us who she is as in compared to her father that simply is unable to do so. His father was the same way. The apple really didn't fall far from the tree.

Jenna seems to be gaining the respects of more and more people every day. I guess cognitive genetics skip generations, or at least they did in this case. Hey, if it doesn't work out in Texas, SSM is legal in Massachusetts!

I've been surprised and impressed by little Jenna. I think this good apple fell far from the tree.

Darth Romney, since the huge majority of California doesn't believe in gay marriage, I guess they're all fundamentalists?
LOL. You people have no clue. Too funny. That will be overturned by election in November anyway so Ellen better hurry up!

I cannot stand her father but Jenna seems like a level-headed fun girl. She even said that she wasnt planning to vote for McCain- she might vote for Obama or Hillary. So Ellen have your wedding there - hey anywhere other than Oprah's digs - shes sinking due to her support of Obama-Drama . Yes to Ellen, NO to OPRAH !!

I am liking Jenna Bush more and more. First she said she may not vote for McCain and now she said that Ellen can get married on the Ranch.

HA!HA!HA! I'd love to see all the fundamentlists' heads explode over that one! You go, Jenna! You're way smarter than your old man!
