Monsignor Mockery at Empire State GOP Gala
May 30, 2008 10:18 AM
Monsignor Jim Lisante mocks Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, last night at the New York State Republican Party dinner, attended by Vice President Dick Cheney.
Watch HERE.
"One more thing, Lord," Lisante said during the invocation. "Please tell Senator Obama that maybe change is a good thing and that maybe he should think about changing his favorite preacher
"I know a lot more of us would be comfortable with his judgment skills if he hadn’t sat for 20 years through those words offered by his preacher of division, bigotry, and --honestly -- half truths without a word of objection from the Senator. That is, until the media brought it up, and now he doesn’t want any part of the guy. I’m willing to be his new preacher."
I think God has better things to do than listen to this stuff, whether it's coming from the Right or the Left.

Those who would vote for the party that has ruined the country in these seven years, for whatever reason, are only doing it to themselves and will have years to get used to the pleasure.

There is nothing offensive in Lisante's truthful words, unless of course, you are one of those stealth Obama supporters in the media.
Posted by: OxyCOn | May 30, 2008 5:24:29 PM
When delivering the invocation, the Monsignor was wrong and in extreme poor taste to pander to the crowd of Republicans. He knows what a proper invocation should sound like.....not a shot from the brow to please his audience. God was watching, and he/she could not be too pleased with his performance. But then again, the Monsignor probably did not shell out the $1000 for his seat at the table, so this was his quid pro quo.
Shame on you.

The Republicans have hit the nail on the head, and this is why millions of Democratic voters will vote for John McCain in November. We will not vote for Obama.
Pfleger just did God's work. He sealed Obama's loss in November.

Prestigious PEW?
National recognition?
Right...
The rest of us will continue to rely on AP, CNN, CBS, ABC, FOX, Rasmussen (note the spelling), and the rest of the nationally recognized sources of information.

My gut feeling is that Hillary's prospects in South Dakota were just hurt by this endorsement. Everytime an important newspaper endorses Obama, the guy does bad. I had not pay attention to that until the Indiana Star's endorsement. My husband told me: Maybe Obama doesn't do that bad in Indiana because he lost the endorsement. And bingo, Obama did better than expected in Indiana.
I don't know if people dislike being told straight in their face whom to vote for. I'm just wondering. I am not particularly aware of that since I don't look for newspapers' endorsement in deciding for whom to vote. But I think it has something to do with those people who despise the media.

Whether or not Barack Obama is racist revolves, as it should, with his practices and associations, past and present.
Barack Obama is a member of the racist, anti-American, anti-white, anti-Semite Trinity United Church Of Christ. Obama has been a member for over 20 years.
Until recently, when it became politically incorrect, the racist, hate-mongering, anti-American, Jeremiah Wright was a member of the Obama campaign.
In his own words, Barack Obama views Jeremiah Wright as a spiritual advisor and an "old uncle." Wright married the Obamas and baptized their children.
For anyone, including bloggers, to imply that any person could sit in the pews of a church for over 20 years without absorbing the content of the preacher's sermons is without merit.
As for Barack Obama's public projection on race; the man is half white and half black even though he claims to be black. Obama is, in fact, bi-racial, and should claim his true heritage with pride.

Let's look at this very good information: Rassmussen, which is a Republican polling firm, finding out that Americans consider John McCain the best to handle the most important issues facing the nation should not make us wonder such findings. However, Pew Research one of the most prestigious polling organizations finds out something different, but since Michelle Obama graduated in the early 80's from Princeton this "direct connection" must make us believe that somehow Princeton's profesionalism is compromise with Alumni Roberson(Obama).
I'm connecting the dots!!!!

HELLO?
HELLO??
HELLO???
HILLARY is still running; today, another newspaper ... in South Dakota.. gave it's support to her campaign,
praising :
"Her mastery of complex policy detail is broad and deep, and her experience as a senator and former first lady matches that," the editorial said.
"Measured against her opponent, Clinton is philosophically more moderate. That is likely a good thing for South Dakota"
She is MY candidate of choice.
I will NOT vote for Obama because of his lack of principles and his GREEN
color when it comes to foreign policy!

Wake up America--Obama chose a racist church and racist pastors to advise him and serve on boards with him.
How can Obama claim with any credibility that he wants to unite this country?
He is lying to America.

First, Rasmussen poll are considered as one of the most accurate in the United States.
As for numbers, polls that are properly conducted will produce the same results within the margin of error.
PEW? Let's see if we can make this connection...Princeton Survey Research Associates International...
Does anyone remember the Michelle Obama thesis and where it originated?
Could it be...Princeton?
You connect the dots.

The nuts are trying as hard as they can to portray Obama as racist, but too bad so sad that they guy is 50% black and 50% white. This is so fun to watch. Let me tell you everyone find this so amusing. The other day we were at my mother's in law house and she asked us what was going on with the elections-she is not a political person at all. She asked: At the end what happened? I don't know who won because for what I see it looks like Hillary seems to be changing the rules all the time. My husband and I were craking up!! Even his mother who only watches the 6:00 p.m news was aware of Hillary's constant goalpost moving.

On the right or on the left, what ANY preacher says should have NO bearing on politics. Why is it that only Americans and Muslim nations mix religion with politics? Religion has NO place in political discourse. Keep your myths to yourself.
Posted by: dano | May 30, 2008 11:58:04 AM
I bet that there are videos of Obama in many, many churches. The guy knows zillions of preachers. Obama worked with churches as a community organizer.
I bet there are zillions of videos of me in law offices, I'm a legal assistant on my way to become an attorney. I bet there are hundreds of vidoes of my husband on college campuses since he is a college professor. I bet there are hundreds of videos of me in court buildings. See?

"What this said to me is that its a shame that the Republicans are the ones taking up for Hillary Clinton and the damn Democrats are totally silent on the subject. How's that?"
Dear Beebop: The problems is that Democrats are already tired of Hillary. Don't believe?
Gallup: Obama Back Up By Double-Digits
Obama 52, Clinton 42
Pew Research:
Obama 54, clinton 41
Didn't you read the Field poll that came out today from California:
California Dems now favor Obama over Clinton.
Obama 51, Clinton 38
One detail that most people did not pay attention from Quinnipiac poll from Florida:
Who do Florida Democrats preferred as the nominee?
Obama 41, Clinton 41
Man, she got 50% of the vote in the state back in Jan.29
Why have the numbers changed? Why democrats are no longer supporting her?

I am not a math person myself but I happen to be married to a math professor from Florida International University. The rule in Statistics is that the bigger the "universe" the smaller the error. It is an inverse relationship: More people=less error; less people=more error. It is not me just the facts.

I agree that this is nowhere near as offensive... but it is pretty lame and low to be sarcastically praying to God to rile up a group of politicians. I truly don't think God wants to hear crap like this.

800 vs 1500 is not that much in the statistical world when you're measuring a population that is the size of 300 million!
Also, biggest difference in those polls is one is one week later than the other!

You are trying to make this about Hillary. Odds are, that part is over. Here is Barack's problem going forward, Louis and Kate.
The scenario in the beginning was Pelosi brokering Silly Valley money and making deals with Chicago politicians to take the White House and both
houses of Congress. It seemed simple. The Republican numbers were in the basement. They could run a fresh face if a weak candidate and use the dry tinder of white guilt and intimidation to fuel the fire.
So far so good, but elite liberals who use the black politicians seldom associate with them in black social circles, so they know less than nothing about the black culture of blacks among blacks. They don't understand
the depth of anger, hostility and racist rhetoric or how much of that signal is there on the very instrument they use: the Internet.
Now it is too late to weasel out and in the mean time, the enemies of America in the Middle East are coming out to support Obama in public. How easy will it be to create the perception of a loose confederation of like minded left wing liberals who espouse the causes that threaten Israel, the US and the European allies? Too easy. Why? Pelosi didn't understand what she was setting in motion. She is blinded by her ambition to take down Hillary Clinton. She forgets that one Hillary is out of the picture, the MSM and the hard right wing will take on Obama with the same tactics and more money because she and hers spent their's defeating Clinton.
This begins to look like the voyage to Hell for Pelosi and her band of merry Internet Pranksters as they are sucked down into the maelstrom of anti-American sentiment and actions, a twister she fueled by heating the atmosphere with racism and sexism.
And so it goes.
Posted by: len | May 30, 2008 11:25:35 AM
"subtle hatred" ? I think you are talking about that which tied up into the social structure that it goes unnoticed.
This example is not subtle at all! We're being obvious about our hatred and prejudice against Wright and Co.
This is not about being politically correct. This is about justice against hatred.

Now guys, this my be hard for you, but let's try to see if you can identify which poll is more reliable:
Rasmussen: The national telephone survey of 800 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports, May 28-29, 2008.
Pew Research: Results for this survey are based on telephone interviews conducted under the direction of Princeton Survey Research Associates International among a nationwide sample of 1,505 adults, 18 years of age or older, from May 21-25, 2008.
800 vs. 1,505 See?
Posted by: carl29 | May 30, 2008 11:23:02 AM
Oh no, The end is near!!! We got another poll that says something different:
Pew Research
"Obama has a clear advantage over McCain on several major issues. In particular, voters say the Illinois Democrat could do better in improving economic conditions, dealing with the nation's energy problems, and improving the healthcare system."
Results for this survey are based on telephone interviews conducted under the direction of Princeton Survey Research Associates International among a nationwide sample of 1,505 adults, 18 years of age or older, from May 21-25, 2008.
Beautiful day!!!!
Posted by: carl29 | May 30, 2008 11:20:00 AM
for those that like to state that horrible things were stated daily in Obama's church, have you ever attended there? Have you gone through the thousands of hours of videos? Over a decades worth of footage was reviewed to come up with Wrights 90 second clips. If there were such daily ramblings as you claim why isn't there an all Rev wright station playing somewhere as an anti Obama ad?
He will be the nominee, if there is any hope for us as a nation he will be our President and Congress will get their hands out of our pockets long enough for some of the problems we face to actually start to be resolved.

The latest Rasmussen poll (May 28-29, 2008) shows John McCain pounding Barack Obama in most areas of voter trust...the economy (47 to 41%), the war in Iraq (49 to 37%), taxes (44 to 38%), and national security (53 to 31%). These figures are virtually unchanged for the last month.
Obama does lead McCain slightly in voter consideration of government ethics (43 to 39%). But about 25% of Democrats trust John McCain more than they do Barack Obama.
When asked specifically about the war in Iraq, more than 85% of Republicans, 22% of Democrats, and 49% of those not affiliated with either major party trust John McCain more than Barack Obama.
Figures of this and other recent polls seem to indicate a growing mistruat of leadership and experience available in an Obama administration as the candidate himself is scrutinized.
Margin of sampling error for this poll is +/-3.5 with a 95% level of confidence.

subtle hatred is more dangerous than flamboyant hatred. As you see it's more widely accepted and not outright challenged. wheres the clip to loop over & over on the MSM
Posted by: think so | May 30, 2008 11:09:04 AM
Senator Obama sat in a church for 20 years listening to and agreeing with the hate mongering, racist message. It is instilled in his brain, heart and soul. Senator Obama lives and breathes the teachings of the Black Liberation Theology Church. It is with him when he wakes in the morning and goes to bed at night.

Dear Geevill: There is a video of Ed Rendell, one of Clinton's most ardent supporters and Jewish by the way, praising Farrakhan like a child to his idol. Have you seen it?
Posted by: carl29 | May 30, 2008 11:06:10 AM
Like how Wright (and co.) use shaming as their form of empowerment in their church, it is fair for us to shame them too.
Posted by: LOLapalooza | May 30, 2008 11:04:36 AM
I can't picture the Clinton machine not
looking for every single video. The
Clintons are crazy to get their hands
on anything to destroy Obama.
If the Clintons, McCain, the RNC, the Fox have not found anything else, but a visiting preacher trashing and mocking Hillary this past sunday. Do you really
believe they have not seen years and years of videos wishing for something?
If Pastor Wright was the pastor of this
church for so many years and he preaches
such horrible things everyday, Why
haven't we seen more? I'm sure that after 30 years of sermons there is a lot
to choose from.
I can see it: Sean Hannity studying the
sermon of the week, any sermon every week. Why hasn't this happened? Any answers?
Posted by: carl29 | May 30, 2008 11:03:58 AM
jpt,
while I am not a right-winger by any stretch of the imagination, it's fair game to me to poke fun at extremists whom mainstream americans (rightfully) disagree with. Shaming is a valid form of punishment in societies.

Until I hear Obama say the kinds of CRAZY things these pastors are saying... I don't believe he agrees with it.
No more than I believe that McCain believes the crap that Hagee and other pastors on the right say.
STOP THE CRAZIES! Do you think that all Catholics believe in their priests who were pedafiles? NO!
Take Obama and McCain at their word.
Posted by: Tired of the Noise | May 30, 2008 10:58:02 AM
Funny that, considering the priest did his own version of "Chickens coming home to roost" about 15 hours after the 9/11 attacks.

"This is a harmless light-hearted commentary as opposed to the hateful, racist, vulgar, sexist anti-Christian garbage spewed daily by Obama's church."
I I dont know you guys but my critical
thinking skills lead me to believe that
the unfourtunate events that we have
seen at Obama's church is not as some
argue "on a daily basis." Just imagine
years and years of sermos. It is not
that this church was funded yesterday.
The fact that this pastor's comments
came out to light right away tells me
that people from the right are paying
a hell of attention to everything.
I can picture Hillary and the RNC
spending hours going to every single
video. They're grasping for evertything.
The problem? They don't seem to have
more. Sad guys!!

Lisante is right. Wright and Pfleger are wrong. They preach a doctrine that emphasizes and exacerbates racial tensions. If Obama was half the man he claims to be, he would have done something to help them find a better message--one more consistent with the transcendence that Obama invokes on the campaign trail. Instead Obama did something worse than nothing. He sat silently and gave them an audience for years, befriending them both. Now the first african american with a shot at the presidency approaches that hurdle with a load of baggage that will make his run the most racially divisive event this country has experienced since the 1960s.I would be thrilled to vote for our first african american president, but not one who abides the racist doctrine preached at Trinity. Not now, not ever.Obama must be stopped. Racism must be challenged and stopped, without regard to the race of the perpetrator.

Our government and MSM should think twice of pulling together to castigate religion. Where do any of us get off binding church and state when the constitution repels it?
When we start saying my religion is better than yours, we will remain divided. Faith is extraordinarily personal.
Posted by: Genna | May 30, 2008 10:49:04 AM
For anyone sitting in the church that Obama did, they accept racism and hatred of America, period.
Obama says he was not there for any speech, did he not read the church's website or pamphlets. If he could not see the truth about his mentor,(even though Obama wrote some of the same controversial comments in his book) but if we use Obama's comments, then how are we to trust he will have good judgement with other countries.
Just recently Pelosi gave credit to Iran who is supplying the weapons and ied's that are killing our troops for stopping the violence in Basra, not the Iraqis or US troops which she said had nothing to do with it. didn't anyone tell her it was the Iraqi's with US support that did, against an enemy that was supplied by the Iranians. The libs are a disgrace to this country!!
All the dems are seemed to be is Anti-American and Racist and Sexist!!
McCain 08!!

Pastors, priests, preachers, and rabbis should all refrain from using mockery when speaking about a politican they do not support. The difference, however, between what this Monsignor apparently said and what Senator Obama's men of the cloth have said could not be more striking nor more important to distinguish. This was silly, sophomoric political ribbing. However, Senator Obama's men of the cloth resorted to outlandish, vile, race-based mockery of Senator Clinton, all while discounting the formidable odds Senator Clinton has faced based upon her gender. Am I missing something? The form of the events is similar (religious man making political comments) but the content and degree seem strikingly different.
