Most Americans Are Concerned Someone Will Try to Harm Obama
May 23, 2008 8:37 PM
Why such sensitivity on the subject of assassinations when Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is involved?
Are the American people more concerned someone will try to harm Obama than, say, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., his likely general election opponent?
Yep.
According to the ABC News/Washington Post poll from March 2, 59 percent of Americans said they were concerned "that someone might attempt to physically harm Barack Obama if he's the Democratic nominee for president."
"Very" concerned was 24 percent.
83 percent of African-Americans were concerned.
Fewer than half of the American people -- 27 percent -- said they were concerned someone might attempt to physically harm McCain, with 10 percent saying they were very concerned.
Thanks to ABC News polling director Gary Langer.

Because Senator Obama has a soul....

I'm concerned that Michelle will harm Obama. She has so much hate in her that she is a time bomb just waiting to explode. I really feel sorry for what she is putting her children through. Child welfare really needs to intervene.

I have always been more concerned that Hillary Clinton was at risk. There has been a constant anger and negative reporting directed towards her. The MSM does really make a difference in public perceptions.

Senator Obama has been campaigning on hope and change. He HOPES all people believe his lies and that he can CHANGE America into a Socialist country. He is a radical left wing extremist with ties to Hamas and the PLO. He does not care about a democratic America where one person, one vote is the rule.

John McCain must be defeated in the fall. There is no other argument.

John McCain will win the GE.
Obama will make it happen!

This is a nation of laws and of rules.
Without law and rules to guide the activities of a society, chaos reigns; no peace, no progress and no prosperity.
Truism:- Campaign ugly and govern even uglier!
It is a historical fact: Those who would campaign by flaunting the laws and rules WILL govern by flaunting the US Constitution, Nixon, Bush, etc, etc.
So, if a candidate cannot be trusted as a campaigner, then she SURELY cannot and SHOULD NOT be trusted to govern anyone.
Would anyone trust Hellary to end the witless and wasteful Iraq war and not expand it?
No wise person would trust her, given her historical and menopausal lack of principle and integrity and lack of vision.

Matt,
If McCain is elected and the economy gets worse, the war goes on another 4 years (or more) etc. who will you blame? Obama? Because he had the nerve to beat your candidate?
She lost, fair and square. She ran a horrible campaign. I was among her first supporters, but I wanted to be convinced.
And She didn't

What would America say if Obama had said the same thing? Remember the small town comment about it's people, guns & religion? I guess some "Mistakes" are less than others even when human life is concerned.

Exactly and unemotionally, why is Obama a better candidate than Clinton?
Posted by: Just Curious | May 24, 2008 12:49:23 PM
To MI VOTER
Bush started this war and no matter who is elected it will end! The war will end but it is HOW it ends that counts. Hillary is best qualified and has the best plan for ending the war RESPONSIBLY. You can not just pull out. If Hillary is not the Nominee than I would trust McCain over Obama to end the war in a RESPOSIBLE manner. Obama is a loose cannon and Unqualified.
Hillary 2008 but if not than McCain!

WILL NOT WORK! You Obama supporters calling everyone that disagrees with you and Obama a Republican. If I were a Republican than I would proudly say so. I am a Democrat who is voting for Hillary Clinton but if she is not the nominee than I will do what MOST other Hillary supporters will do and vote for McCain and NEVER Obama. America first and Party second!
Hillary 2008 but if not than McCain.

A,
Not unfounded. WHO EXACTLY is going to fight these wars? As far as I know, McCain doesnt have a squad of Robot Soliders at his command.
Posted by: MI VOTER | May 24, 2008 12:36:50 PM
A,
Do you have sons? Grandsons?
Be prepared to stand at a cold airport hanger for their flagged draped coffin to be off-loaded after they died in action in all these wars McCain wants to wage. He has all but said a draft is likely, because the military enlistment is at an all time low.
Hope you have great health insurance, because you cant get any with McCains plan. And he wants to "privatize" health insurance the same way the did with student loans (interest rates under that plan went from 4% to 25% in 4 years...YIPEE!!)
Hope you enjoy watching your job be shipped off to Thailand, McCain wants to INCREASE tax breaks to large corporations. Thank God, because we all KNOW that the HUGE Corporations need more of MY money.
Yea....good luck with McCain and all.
We know how great we are all doing with Bush, so let's elect ANOTHER!
Great strategy!

"silent vote" said
Do you know about "the silent vote"???
"silent vote" is the vote that didn't
go to primaries OR caucuses after 7pm
to get a delegate for Hussein Obama.
But this "silent vote" will vote in
november.
I remember your story. I saw it in a movie called the ghost come out after 7pm. Unfortunately such votes don't count because ghosts use invisible ballot papers and ghosts can't be seen. Ooooooooooh. Therefore ghosts can't vote.

Looking over the postings offered by Matt, it appears we have a Republican amongst us.
Curious why he would try to claim why a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Bush? Did Bush change political parties?
Did a Democrat lead us into a war without cause? Aren't Bush and Cheney both Oil Barons? Isn't John McCain embracing Bush? Are you happy to be paying $4 a gallon for gas, and letting your children go hungry because the policies Bush enabled has led to this?
Clearly this comment is from someone who has already made up their mind to vote for McCain. There is no other conclusion that can be drawn from his comments.
Posted by: Alfred | May 24, 2008 12:29:57 PM
Ah - the democratic party's mindset. Pelosi, Obama, Al Franken, Reid, et al. What a bunch. You party regulars should hide. You moderates should run away.
This is not your democratic party any more unless you're a real radical! Think about it before you swallow the spin.

To Alfred
What part did you NOT understand!
I Obama is the nominee than Hillary supporters will write in her name, vote independent, not vote at all or vote for McCain but NEVER OBAMA! We are Americans first and do what is best for America and not the party.Obama is just another BUSH, a Media created FAKE!
Posted by: Matt | May 24, 2008 12:26:13 PM
Alfred
Why does McCain have to be defeated and why would anyone vote for the party instead of the best candidate possible to lead the nation?
Posted by: A | May 24, 2008 12:23:38 PM
If she's the VP, she'll carry out her plan. Remember to keep your friends close and your enemies very far from you.
