Most Americans Are Concerned Someone Will Try to Harm Obama

May 23, 2008 8:37 PM

Why such sensitivity on the subject of assassinations when Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is involved?

Are the American people more concerned someone will try to harm Obama than, say, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., his likely general election opponent?

Yep.

According to the ABC News/Washington Post poll from March 2, 59 percent of Americans said they were concerned "that someone might attempt to physically harm Barack Obama if he's the Democratic nominee for president."

"Very" concerned was 24 percent.

83 percent of African-Americans were concerned.

Fewer than half of the American people -- 27 percent -- said they were concerned someone might attempt to physically harm McCain, with 10 percent saying they were very concerned.

Thanks to ABC News polling director Gary Langer.

I'm concerned that Michelle will harm Obama. She has so much hate in her that she is a time bomb just waiting to explode. I really feel sorry for what she is putting her children through. Child welfare really needs to intervene.

Posted by: Thinkofthechildrens | May 24, 2008 10:14:51 PM

I have always been more concerned that Hillary Clinton was at risk. There has been a constant anger and negative reporting directed towards her. The MSM does really make a difference in public perceptions.

Posted by: Jackie | May 24, 2008 6:33:12 PM

Senator Obama has been campaigning on hope and change. He HOPES all people believe his lies and that he can CHANGE America into a Socialist country. He is a radical left wing extremist with ties to Hamas and the PLO. He does not care about a democratic America where one person, one vote is the rule.

John McCain must be defeated in the fall. There is no other argument.

Obama will make it happen!

Posted by: HP Boston | May 24, 2008 3:21:32 PM

This is a nation of laws and of rules.

Without law and rules to guide the activities of a society, chaos reigns; no peace, no progress and no prosperity.

Truism:- Campaign ugly and govern even uglier!

It is a historical fact: Those who would campaign by flaunting the laws and rules WILL govern by flaunting the US Constitution, Nixon, Bush, etc, etc.

So, if a candidate cannot be trusted as a campaigner, then she SURELY cannot and SHOULD NOT be trusted to govern anyone.

Would anyone trust Hellary to end the witless and wasteful Iraq war and not expand it?
No wise person would trust her, given her historical and menopausal lack of principle and integrity and lack of vision.

Posted by: Patriot | May 24, 2008 2:15:14 PM

Matt,

If McCain is elected and the economy gets worse, the war goes on another 4 years (or more) etc. who will you blame? Obama? Because he had the nerve to beat your candidate?

She lost, fair and square. She ran a horrible campaign. I was among her first supporters, but I wanted to be convinced.

And She didn't

What would America say if Obama had said the same thing? Remember the small town comment about it's people, guns & religion? I guess some "Mistakes" are less than others even when human life is concerned.

Exactly and unemotionally, why is Obama a better candidate than Clinton?

Posted by: Just Curious | May 24, 2008 12:49:23 PM

To MI VOTER
Bush started this war and no matter who is elected it will end! The war will end but it is HOW it ends that counts. Hillary is best qualified and has the best plan for ending the war RESPONSIBLY. You can not just pull out. If Hillary is not the Nominee than I would trust McCain over Obama to end the war in a RESPOSIBLE manner. Obama is a loose cannon and Unqualified.

Hillary 2008 but if not than McCain!

WILL NOT WORK! You Obama supporters calling everyone that disagrees with you and Obama a Republican. If I were a Republican than I would proudly say so. I am a Democrat who is voting for Hillary Clinton but if she is not the nominee than I will do what MOST other Hillary supporters will do and vote for McCain and NEVER Obama. America first and Party second!

Hillary 2008 but if not than McCain.

Posted by: Matt | May 24, 2008 12:38:20 PM

A,

Not unfounded. WHO EXACTLY is going to fight these wars? As far as I know, McCain doesnt have a squad of Robot Soliders at his command.

Posted by: MI VOTER | May 24, 2008 12:36:50 PM

A,

Do you have sons? Grandsons?

Be prepared to stand at a cold airport hanger for their flagged draped coffin to be off-loaded after they died in action in all these wars McCain wants to wage. He has all but said a draft is likely, because the military enlistment is at an all time low.

Hope you have great health insurance, because you cant get any with McCains plan. And he wants to "privatize" health insurance the same way the did with student loans (interest rates under that plan went from 4% to 25% in 4 years...YIPEE!!)

Hope you enjoy watching your job be shipped off to Thailand, McCain wants to INCREASE tax breaks to large corporations. Thank God, because we all KNOW that the HUGE Corporations need more of MY money.

Yea....good luck with McCain and all.

We know how great we are all doing with Bush, so let's elect ANOTHER!

Great strategy!

Do you know about "the silent vote"???

"silent vote" is the vote that didn't
go to primaries OR caucuses after 7pm
to get a delegate for Hussein Obama.
But this "silent vote" will vote in
november.

I remember your story. I saw it in a movie called the ghost come out after 7pm. Unfortunately such votes don't count because ghosts use invisible ballot papers and ghosts can't be seen. Ooooooooooh. Therefore ghosts can't vote.

Posted by: Chan | May 24, 2008 12:30:42 PM

Looking over the postings offered by Matt, it appears we have a Republican amongst us.

Curious why he would try to claim why a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Bush? Did Bush change political parties?

Did a Democrat lead us into a war without cause? Aren't Bush and Cheney both Oil Barons? Isn't John McCain embracing Bush? Are you happy to be paying $4 a gallon for gas, and letting your children go hungry because the policies Bush enabled has led to this?

Clearly this comment is from someone who has already made up their mind to vote for McCain. There is no other conclusion that can be drawn from his comments.

Posted by: Alfred | May 24, 2008 12:29:57 PM

Ah - the democratic party's mindset. Pelosi, Obama, Al Franken, Reid, et al. What a bunch. You party regulars should hide. You moderates should run away.

This is not your democratic party any more unless you're a real radical! Think about it before you swallow the spin.

Posted by: Matt | May 24, 2008 12:26:13 PM

Why does McCain have to be defeated and why would anyone vote for the party instead of the best candidate possible to lead the nation?

Posted by: A | May 24, 2008 12:23:38 PM

If she's the VP, she'll carry out her plan. Remember to keep your friends close and your enemies very far from you.

To Matt:

What part of 'It doesn't matter whether Clinton or Obama wins, so long as we have a Democrat for president' do you not understand? How can you contort this statement to claim that its a preference for one over the other?

Clearly, we need to defeat John McCain, regardless of who does it. We cannot afford four more years of Bush politics. If you feel defeating McCain is an attack on one of the Democrats, well, I don't agree.

John McCain must be defeated in the fall. There is no other argument.

Hillary is the prime example of someone who just doesn't know when its long over. She is still in shock that someone actually won the nomination instead of her. She is walking and talking in a daze, and it will take a long time for her to sink in that she is finished both as a presidential candidate and the end of the Clinton era. I always liked the Clintons, but this nomination fight has brought out the worst of Hillary for all to see, and my respect for her has all but evaporated.

HILLARY supporters will NEVER back Obama because he would do worse than Bush did. He is nothing but a Media created FAKE and is UNELECTABLE!

Posted by: Matt | May 24, 2008 12:02:12 PM

I actually would think Bush and Cheney are in greater danger because of all the carnage in their wake. There are some racist and possibly a few Clinton nutters who would love if something happened to Obama, but I don't think it is going to happen. What she said is pretty bad. These politicians should just keep their mouths shut. Most have nothing good to say unless their last name is Gravel, Paul, Nader, Kucinich or the like.

Posted by: Ben Straub | May 24, 2008 11:58:37 AM

Isn't it so wonderful hearing these Republican FearMongers trying to incite strife between the Clinton supporters and the Obama supporters?

You can always tell, too. They tend to SHOUT when their message is weak. Trying to point out the inaccuracy in their argument, the louder and more fervently they SHOUT.

Why would the Republican FearMongers want to inflame the Democratic issue so venomously? Because their intent is to deflect focus from the Republican hypocrisy in their convictions.

Neither Clinton or Obama is a Left Wing or a Right Wing radical. They are trying to improve the lives of mainstream Americans. Both Obama and Clinton are strongly against sending American jobs overseas, a stance McCain doesn't share. Both Clinton and Obama want all Americans to enjoy a quality of life, not just the elite few making huge profits on the backs of the average worker, like John McCain does. The argument should not be who should be the Democratic nominee, instead efforts should focus on defeating the Republican burden that average Americans are now forced to bear.

A vote for John McCain is clearly a vote for four more years of George Bush - you know, the guy who got us into this mess. George Bush is now supporting McCain, and McCain is actively embracing Bush.

Put the petty bickering aside, and focus on the bigger problem. America is on the wrong track thanks to Bush, and McCain is offering the same future. It doesn't matter whether its Obama or Clinton who defeats McCain, so long as we have a Democrat for President.

Rova,

Great post! I wish more people here would put this all into prespective and get a grip.

If we don't get the Repubs out of office we wont know exactly what has been done to this country under the Bush years. And we can't fix what we dont know about.

Posted by: MI VOTER | May 24, 2008 11:49:12 AM

Just when you think that things can not possibly get any worse in America some people actually want to elect Obama which would be NO different than leaving in the puppet (Bush) we already have. The Media and Powerfull Corporations would have another puppet (Obama) to screw the American people some more. All this proves that even smart people can be complete fools. The media and the powerfull corporations just may pull it off again and fool the people into electing another media created puppet! We get exactly what we deserve.

Posted by: John | May 24, 2008 11:44:08 AM

Here we go again! Let's stick to the issues here. There will NEVER be the totally right candidate for anyone living in this country! In terms of harm for either candidate, THEY KNOW WHAT THE RISKS ARE....! IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW, THEY WILL NOT BE RUNNING FOR OFFICE!

BUT THE MAIN ISSUE ARE THE ISSUES!!!

In terms of the Republican party, do you really want to see another one of "Bush's Boys" get into the oval office????? If this happens, many more of us will be out of jobs! That's the working class of American people, black, white, red, pink, brown or what ever your color are!!!!!! Gas prices will continue to get higher!!!!! We will stll be in war with IRAQ and even IRAN!!!! Foreclosures will continue to sky rocket more than what they already are!!!! The American dollar will continue to shrink!!!!!! You will be at risk for loosing your health insurance!!!! The rich will continue to get richer while you continue to pay more in taxes!!!! The middle class American will become lower class Americans!!!! WHAT OTHER DISEASTERS DO YOU WANT TO SEE IF ANOTHER ONE OF "THOSE KIND" GET INO THE WHITEHOUSE!!!!!!

Clearly you can see that I am a democrat and frankly I do not care which democratic candidate gets in because the republicans need to GET OUT!!!

Another point of view to consider is the this country is in such economic and social mess that it will take more than just a president to correct the problems that the Bush administration created. He/she will need a team of Americans to work with them in making the wrongs of America right!!!

Think about that and wake the hell up!!!!!!!!

I was not too concerned for Obama's safety, or at least not more than any other candidate or officeholder, until I read the earlier post by Guardian, May 24 at 10:14 a.m. about military kill power and defending our country from enemies, foreign or domestic. This sounded like a threat if I ever read one. Guardian, please clear this up.

At this moment in time we are in a slow political news cycle so this story becomes bigger than it needs to be. HRC clearly said something stupid and I'll attribute it to the desperation she seems to be feeling in her now delusional run for the nomination. The DEMS that want her out of the race reason that she has been ,by any rational bearing, defeated and the race against McCain needs to begin.Nothing more. Some people need to understand the US Constitution stating all men are equal and entitled to their pursuits also included African Americans', Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, European Americans, any American citizen and a Woman's right to run for the Presidency of the United States. There is a lurking belief that the Constitution and the forefathers only want Whites to be President..no, no, they want the most able person who can work in the interest of the United States locally and internationally to bring the best fruits for its citizens to be the President of the United States. Should Obama win the elections this will be a clear message that in the future only the ablest American will be able to hold the Presidency and it is not going to be an easy ride to become President anymore that is: Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton etc. era must go!

It is quite obvious that the liberal Obama supporters have never once served in a branch of the US Military. Or to be a tad more specific, held a MOS of which women were NOT allowed to hold.

On behalf of those of us that have, I am just going to inform the ill-informed on a few simple things.

We have been trained in the art of killing very effectivly from a very long distance away. 2500 meters to be exact. The business end of that shot never hears a thing, ever. Using nothing other than a rifle. Now that happens to be a "special" rifle, but a rifle none-the-less. And a rifle that is legal for any US citizen to own. Meaning with some fire discipline and some practice anyone could make such a shot.

These particular rifles also have the penetration power to fire through one inch plate steel and still hit the target. Body armor, vehicles, "bullet proof glass" doesn't do any good.

There are some on here that state that those of us with this ability don't have the "guts" or the mindset. This is why I stated that you have never been in service or even around those of us that do this. Here's a tip for you, we do it ALL the time in combat, it is our job. So claiming that someone doesn't have the "guts" is pathetic. It is almost like you are daring someone to do it.

Why explain that? There are blogs on here that think that the only way to pull off a job is to get close, using a handgun. Or that it takes some "maniac" or some liberal feel-good term to describe those of us that have done this for our country. You wouldn't even know that I have a personal kill count of 84. Am I bothered? Not at all. I am honored and proud of my service.

We are NOT unstable. We have a life here too that includes wives and children. So your stereotype is probably wrong again.

Why is this important to the title of this blog? There is a HUGE number of 'us' that flat out do NOT trust Obama. From his father's religion to his unpatriotic acts and speech to his friends of our enemies and our allies enemies. That is what our distrust comes from, not from his 'color'.

Obama can be president, maybe a good one, then again maybe not. I do not trust nor fall for the simple slogans of 'change', 'hope' and 'yes we can' as some sort of precursor of electability.

We will be watching, like with all Presidents. You see, we have all taken an oath. An oath to defend this country from enemies both foreign and domestic. It has been known that America can never be defeated in an invasion. The way to defeat us is from within. There is a large number of us that are watching and will not allow the defeat or destruction of America. That is defending the US Constitution as I have sworn to do so as well as my legal duty to do so.

This is exactly what she wanted...a conversation about Obama being assasinated.

First of all. There are paid Obama Bloggers on here.
Second, Hillary was clearly reminding people how elections go through June.
Why does the media want her out by June?
She is just discussing that.
The obamedia and obama camp is just taking this as a poke against obama. This is stupid that the media is playing on it. Shame on the media.

All of you who think Mr. Obama is going to get in front of his teleprompter and raise his arms and give some uplifting speach that will change the minds of the white middle class voter, think again. And if this is the top story in the news(Hillary's innocent comment about RFK), I'd hate to see what's the second and third story.

Posted by: JRS | May 24, 2008 9:16:57 AM

All of you Obama lovers should take a very, very hard look at the very first post in this commentary. It is a fact and will remain a fact in November that Obama is NOT an electable candidate. The white middle class vote is the key vote in any election in this country. Dems and Republicans alike, as well as many independents fall into this category and Obama is not liked by the vast majority of this demographic. Nominate a candidate who can win Ohio and Florida, and the Republicans are back where they belong, on the street. No candidate since JFK has lost two out of the key 3 swing states(Penn., Ohio and Florida) and won the election. Obama is leading only in Pennsylvania, and by a whisker thin margin. You do the math.

Posted by: JRS | May 24, 2008 9:11:41 AM

Things are NOT as they are made to appear.

For all the talk about "Super Delegates", there is nothing "Super" about them. Just as everyone of us, they have one vote each. Their endorsement is just that, an endorsement. It is not a vote. They are not supposed to come into play unless there is a deadlocked convention, and in that case, they are expected to exercise their BEST JUDGMENT to cast their votes for that candidate they, in view of their extensive experience and political wisdom, think would be able to WIN the General Election. They are not supposed to be endorsing this or that candidate, BEFORE THEY VOTE AT THE CONVENTION. To do otherwise is to be false to the trust and responsibility that has been placed in and on them.

It would be better at this point if all the bickering supporters of each candidate looked at the number of ACTUAL PLEDGED DELEGATES allocated to their candidate on the basis of primaries and caucuses won. Those figures, as of May 24, 2008 (NY Times web site), for those who truly follow politics are:

Obama 1,485

Clinton 1,421

Diff. +64 (Obama)

Of the “surveyed” “Super Delegates”, of which there are approx. 795, there are at least 212.5 who have not “endorsed” any candidate, which is as it was intended to be. Again, an “endorsement” does not necessarily translate into a convention vote, since in theory “Super Delegates” are supposed to represent the wisdom of the party and are expected to be above the fray. Those who have endorsed, really should be stripped of their position and replaced by those who will act as intended. However, that is the responsibility of the DNC, which so far, has proven inadequate to discipline its own members.

The bottom line, “Super Delegate” endorsements should not be counted by candidates claiming that such an “endorsement” makes this person into a PLEDGED DELEGATE, for that is NOT THE CASE, and to think otherwise is to delude oneself and one’s followers. It is also wrong for the media to even report what “Super Delegates” are doing now, as they do not even come into play unless and until there is a DEADLOCKED CONVENTION.

However, there is nothing to prevent partisans from 'counting chickens before they hatch", nor is there anything to prevent the media from playing games with gullible people to increase interest in these silly stories.

As Yogi Berra once said, "It ain't over, 'til it’s over". And this fight is a long way from over.

Which Democratic candidate is more electable?

Consider this:

This is how the Electoral College stands as of May 24, 2008, showing strengths of Clinton vs. Obama, based on their results. For those who have not understood, this is not a head-to-head matchup, but rather a side-by-side comparison.

This assumes a winner-take-all primary/caucus vote takes all Electoral votes for each state. The totals immediately below are WITHOUT any consideration of the states of Florida and Michigan.

Clinton 264

Obama 224

But with Florida and Michigan:

Clinton 308

Obama 224

With just Florida added, which was won by Clinton, fairly and squarely, the Electoral College Vote is:

Clinton 291 (includes Kentucky)

Obama 224 (includes Oregon)

Assuming the following victories, based on current polls, with Clinton winning NOTHING ELSE, and Obama winning South Dakota, and Montana, the totals would then be, still without Florida and Michigan:

Clinton 264 (includes Kentucky)

Obama 230 (includes Oregon, Montana, and South Dakota)

On June 4, 2008, with Florida, Michigan and Kentucky for Clinton, and, being charitable, with Oregon, South Dakota and Montana for Obama:

Clinton 308

Obama 230

Please note that it takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the General Election.

Whether or not the vote turns out as indicated, I firmly believe the above analysis more than amply demonstrates which of the Democratic candidates is in a better position to be the stronger candidate in the General Election.

P.S. - One last thought about this Electoral College Vote analysis; in it I gave Senator Obama full credit for the state caucuses he won. However, it should be noted that there are not any caucuses to be won in the Big Leagues during the General Election. There are only PRIMARIES, WINNER-TAKE-ALL.

And I am sure the "Super Delegates" are aware of that.

Popular vote as of May 24, 2008

These figures INCLUDE Florida and Michigan, as they were fairly and legitimately earned by Senator Hillary Clinton, and have been validated by the respective Secretary’s of State.

Clinton 17,424,437
Obama 17,258,236

Total Diff. +166,201 (Clinton)

Pct. Diff. +0.45% (Clinton)

Above figures from RealClearPolitics.com

So, why SHOULD Hillary quit NOW?

Who do you think will be leading when the dust settles?

Hint - See below:

Combined population of Montana and South Dakota = 1,752,039

Population of Puerto Rico = 8,086,459

Oh pul-eez. Hillary would be just as likely to get assasinated as obama would be. There are just as many (if not more) people in this country who don't want a female president that people who don't want a biracial president.

As always, the article is about obama.

Does anyone remember when the news used to be unbiased? I mean, really unbiased? I sure do miss that.

What other civil rights issues that Obama would push. His being nominated if it will be and his running in the primary are all indication that some white people are just giving him an affirmative action, so what else is Obama want to press? He can not be considered in the list of people who were great and were assisinated because of their cause.. not Obama he is just n ordinary Chicago politican trying to become one but can not be because he has been revealed by his pastor and his assoicaites. So, there is no reaosnons for some psycho to harm him.. if someone is planning.. that some one could his enemy from his chicago kind of politics or Rezko's link.

Mwhahahahahaha. This about sums up Obama.

Why were MLK, JFK, and RFK assassinated? Because they were pressing the issue of civil rights for blacks and other minorities. THAT's why people are concerned that Obama might be assassinated. Running for the highest office in the land, he's REALLY pushing the civil rights envelope. And there are a lot of "hard-working white Americans" who don't like that idea. They're racists, and the polls have shown that they'll even admit that they would not vote for Obama because of his race. Obama should not have jumped on Clinton for her remarks - he should have ignored it, just as he has ignored other jabs at him that she's made - as she's ignored jabs at her that he's made. Remember the old adage, people: "United we stand; divided we fall." Let's rally behind the Democrat nominee, whomever s/he may be, and remember that whatever else we may be, Republican is not what we are.

Posted by: Kaelinda | May 24, 2008 5:08:17 AM

it seems that a LOT of ya'll don't know the difference between educated and smart. Obama will most likely win the nomination, but doubtful he will win the GE, and I pray he doesn't. He is a loose cannon. He scares the stuff out of me. His minions are making hash out of the democratic party it it sad.

Posted by: kelly | May 24, 2008 4:57:13 AM

The Clintons are demonic enough to bring total ruin to the democratic party - watch the Florida Michigan forthcoming row - they will take it all the way until the party will be so divided: a house divided against itself cannot stand"(bible) - They will even take it to court. If she has to be President then she can also kill to achieve it.

I'd say some of his old friends might wanna harm him.. Rev. Wright, maybe?

Posted by: The Commander Guy | May 24, 2008 4:10:29 AM

The entire country just got a peek into a twisted and desparate mind. The republicans have known for a long time what the Clintons are about and that Hillary would stop at nothing to become the next president. More than half of the democrats now see the real Hillary, which leaves just a dwindling number of hard core Clinton cult members left to drink their Kool Aid when their devine leader tells them the comet has appeared. For all those Clinton cult members who say they will vote for McCain in November, go ahead, good riddence to you! You want to know the really funny thing about this? If Obama does lose a close general election to McCain, I would still rather see McCain as president rather than a Clinton!!

Poor Obama. If he is not careful, he is going to trip over his own ego and bruise himself. Of course, he will blame someone else.

Posted by: Mary | May 24, 2008 3:44:25 AM

Senator Clinton is the best of the candidates and has the most popular votes. She is not buying the superdelegates with big bucks and bogus promises. ($20million fund set aside)
Senator Obama is an opportunist, a radical right-wing extremist who view the terrorist groups as friends. He needs to be sent back to his corrupt Chicago political machine with a big defeat. Such a flake.

Posted by: Marianne | May 24, 2008 3:31:10 AM

If Hillary just meant to say that there were other political primaries that lasted a long time, why didn't she just say that and not mention anything about assassination? That is frightening.

Posted by: ChayaFradle | May 24, 2008 3:30:04 AM

Yes, I am one who is very worried. Especially when I read some of the hatred filled blogs and messages on the ABC sites.

Posted by: ChayaFradle | May 24, 2008 3:28:19 AM

Dear Davis,
Have you forgotten that JFK had many affairs in the White House, and nobody wanted to talk about it? What about the scandal of Ted K sex affairs many years ago? What about the influential republican figures who were flocking with the others to create such a scandal about Clinton's affair in the White House and yet to be revealed they also cheated on their wives.
You waste energy trying to trash the political blog sphere with this kind of hatred. More important things are at stake. God blesses many people who don't buy into this anymore.

Why such sensitivity on the subject of assassinations when Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is involved?

Because there are more guns loose on the streets than there are people in this frickin country thanks to that God forsaken "right to bear arms" bs.

To SandyB regarding her post on May 24, 2008 1:31:41 AM

McCain is not a War hero, ask him why his nickname was The Hanoi Hilton Songbird.
Before you go and state an ex serviceman as a hero, get your facts straight first!

The "REAL" John McCain belittled Delores Alfond, head of the National Alliance of POW/MIA whose brother went missing in action in Vietnam. He didn't want the real truth to come out how he collaborated with the North Vietnamese

Presidential candidate John McCain denied that the Soviets interrogated U.S. POWs in Vietnam. But, former U.S., Soviet, and Vietnamese intelligence agents say they did. Why is McCain lying?

Why won't he sign the new GI Bill? He says it is too much for the GI's to get! They give arms and limbs and sometimes their minds just to be ignored? John McCain should be ashamed for turning his back on our Service Men and Women of the United States ever since Vietnam.

He is abusing his POW status to try and become president. Vietnamese tell international press that POW McCain was "singled out for softer treatment

Nope I sure don't want a traitor as my President. Only reason that McCain has gotten anywhere in politics is because of his families military background.

As a former US Marine I am against Senator McCain. Its time for a change not for another 4 more years of the Bush administrations blunders.

If Obama is in any danger, he needs to step down and hide in Indonesia.

Posted by: libre | May 24, 2008 2:15:40 AM

Lisa I am not a Republican, but I would never support Obama. Write Clinton on the ballot.

Posted by: libre | May 24, 2008 2:10:07 AM

The real danger that Obama faces is him hurting his own ego and national image while pretending that he knows how to bowl.

LOL

Annoyed wrote: "Stephanopoulas LOVES Hillary."

You have no clue. The Clintons and Stephanopoulas were not on friendly terms after he left the administration. Hillary only did his show last year for the first time when she ran for President.

Yeah, he asked Obama some hard questions and shocked the nation that any MSM reporter would treat him like a normal candidate, but that was for his integrity, not for Hilary.

Dema

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the reason the "A" word comes "so easily" as you say to Senator Clinton, is because for eight years, when her husband was President of the United States, she probably had to live with the chance of that happening to him every day of her life??????

And maybe when you've had the possiblity of it being served to you on a platter for eight years, it becomes something like a daily dose of medicine, after awhile you develop a certain tolerance for it.

It doesn't necessarily mean you like it any more than you used to, you've just learned it is a fact of life, and a fact of life that anyone who has become, or is aspiring to become President of the United States, must deal with.

Political leaders are assassinated in every country on Earth (including ours), and have been since the days of Julius Caesar. Avoiding talking about it does not m
