Obama Campaign: "We're Not Trying to Stir the Issue Up"
May 26, 2008 10:07 AM
On This Week with George Stephanopoulos Sunday, David Axelrod, the senior strategist for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, denied that his campaign was "trying to stir the issue up" over Sen. Hillary Clinton's controversial remarks about Bobby Kennedy's assassination.
Watch HERE.
But, as George pointed out, the Obama campaign had sent to reporters the transcript of Keith Olbermann's commentary from Friday night's Countdown on MSNBC (Watch that HERE) which eviscerates Clinton.
"As far as we're concerned this issue is done," Axelrod told Stephanopoulos.
So does this square?

The Argus Leader's Executive Editor Randell Beck issued the following statement today:
"The context of the question and answer with Sen. Clinton was whether her continued candidacy jeopardized party unity this close to the Democratic convention. Her reference to Mr. Kennedy's assassination appeared to focus on the timeline of his primary candidacy and not the assassination itself."
Robert F Kennedy jr. defended Clintons timeline. Where are those headlines Jack???????????????????????

Clinton gets bashed for a week now by the media and Obama supporters over their perceived context of her "June" statement. Did she or did she not mean whatever?
Meanwhile, Obama in a Memorial Day speech, says his great-uncle was one if the liberators of the Auschwitz concentration camp. However, as this camp was liberated by Russian troops, his campaign, not him, later clarified on his behalf that Obama misspoke and should have said the concentration camp at Buchenwald.
Does he really not know his own family history that much? Or, was he trying to pull a fast one, politician style, aka HRCs sniper fire comment, for political gain among a demographic he does not fare as well with by referring erroneously to a better known camp?
I find it hard to believe this guy's stripes are any different than the rest of theirs...change...I think not.

All hilry supporters who love her so much, if you really believe she is the best candidate,
then instead of wasting your time here, get out and spend your time to collect some penny and dig her out of 30 millions debt.
Hilary can't manage her own campaign finance, so why should anyone trust her with our economy???????

I love these comments from the Obama supporters. If this thing is truly over, what are you still doing here?
Not so sure, huh?

Katherine writes, "It's an interesting show with callers from all over the U.S."

Uh huh...but there the same TYPE when it comes to education and socioeconomics. Can you give us a reason why we should care? Surely you don't think THEY have more insight than everyone else.

Of course his campaign is trying to stir it up. Obama is being pushed on us by the media and the DNC. However, a growing anti-Obama movement is forming with a number of different groups. You can stream Steve Corbett's "Operation Turndown Obama" weekdays from 3-7 online at:

This is a proverb: "If day becomes night, everyone will be witness to it". If you vote for mcsims in the GE and he wins the presidency, you will live with the consequencies of his presidency just as we are now living through that of you know who.

rhbate: And I'm truly concerned about his humble and unbelievable beginning-as in four years before his parents met.

Wrong. The media declared it over in March, but Bill Clinton didn't win enough delegates until June.

That's like saying McCain doesn't have the Republican nomination wrapped up. It was over and she knew it.

Personally I'm concerned with Hillary's foreign policy and military experience. Look, she made a corkscr*w landing in Bosnia, avoiding sniper fire all the while. Then when she landed, the only backup she had was her then 12-year-old daughter, a guitar player and a comedian. I am truly concerned about how she would handle herself in one of the submarines at Disneyland, in Anaheim, California.

rhbate: "She said her husband did not win the nomination until June. That is a lie; he had the nomination wrapped up by March."
Wrong. The media declared it over in March, but Bill Clinton didn't win enough delegates until June.
"Bill Clinton did not secure enough delegates through the primary and caucus process until the California primary, June 2, 1992."

calling a woman sweety is sexist. protecting your wifes ability to speak harshly while attacking another woman’s ability is a double standard.

Do you really think "Sweetiegate" is a big issue that voters should be concerned with? Aren't there other issues that are really important?
As for sexism:
One of Hillary's main supporters, James Carville , inferred she has "cojones.” She did not complain then. She compared herself to Rocky Balboa, she found nothing wrong with that;. She called herself Paulette Revere; nothing wrong with that. When one of her own supporters referred to her “testicular fortitude, she didn't complain then.” At a speech she gave a Wellesley College she boasted of “being used to taking on the boys.“

Her statement had nothing to do with Obama. It's all about historical.

Re: "And her chances for being re-elected are nil. She would not have won before if not for the black vote -"
Hahahah
Hillary will be on the Democratic ticket either as president or Vice President.

Hillary Clinton is not stable. Period.

I did not think Hillary could go any lower - I was wrong. There are no limits as to what this woman would do to reach her goal. Fortunately, she'll be going back to the Senate where she will be a pariah. And her chances for being re-elected are nil. She would not have won before if not for the black vote - now she doesn't even have that. She might make someone a good secretary - maybe.

Re: "Hillary basically stating she hopes Obama gets bumped off so she can get the nomination that is seen as "stirring it up."
Hillary never said that. She never even mentioned Obama's name! You guys are projecting your own issues onto Hillary, and yes, you are "stirring it up" because you want Hillary to drop out and give Obama the nomination. Not gonna happen!

Hillary is OVA! Please exit stage left and thanks for playing. Bush-Light, you're next!

EVEN OBAMA SAYS THE STUFF ABOUT RFK WAS NOT A BIG DEAL. DROP IT PEOPLE.
Regarding the DNC and the Fl/Mi votes, there is some serious misunderstanding going on here. ALL of Clinton's supporters who are on the DNC committee VOTED to strip FL/MI of their votes if they didn't follow the rules, and it's actually printed IN TERRY MACAULIFFS BOOK!!!! He warned Mi directly of the consequences. One of Obama's supporters voted against it. The vote passed, and that's the end of the story. The rules of the DNC were made before Dean was the head honcho, by the way.
All candidates were not supposed to campaign in either state.
One of Obama's national ads aired there briefly, and Clinton had a fundraiser there, and Bill campaigned for her there!!
Obama, as an unknown candidate running against the Clinton intrenched machine, did amazingly well in Fla, and the Clinton campaign was STUNNED that she didn't crush him there, especially since he didn't step foot in the state. That's why they never pushed to seat the state. In Michigan, it was simply an embarassment for Clinton that 40% chose "undecided" over her.
Do some research folks. The best way to understand the situation is NOT from the candidates web pages, but from news articles going back to fall 2007 when Fl and Mi were being warned. It wasn't that interesting then, but is sure is now, in hindsight.
