Obama WV Superdelegate on Obama's Problems With White Working Class Voters
May 13, 2008 4:18 PM
As Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., prepares for to be shellacked in West Virginia today, we talked to one of his supporters in the state, Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.V., for the ABC News Shuffle Podcast.
We spoke about those false Muslim rumors, race, Obama's problems connecting with working class whites, and what the candidate will do going forward.
Listen to it HERE.

Most of those wins were before
OBama's clan hit the fan!
Did you know that Obama owes his political prowess to Emil Jones who, after Obama wasted six years doing nada, annointed him during the seventh by having him sponsor "virtually ever-high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and spent years championing these very bills!"
As state senator Ricky Hendon said about the landmark racial profiling and vidotaped confession legislation for which he had been the original sponsor,
"I don't consider it bill jacking but no one wants to carry the bball 99 yards all the way to the one-yard line, and then give it to the halfback who gets all the credit and the stats in the record book!"
That was just one of 26 bills passed into law which were handed into his inexperienced hands that year by Emil Jones, Chicago King Maker.
When Jones became senate President, he was asked "his view on pork barrel spending". He told journalist Todd Spivak "Some call it pork; I call it steak."
Clearly Obama used his earmarks to his advantage.
Earmarks in the millions were given to Chicago State University which was a favorite of Emil Jones, and James Reynolds, a long time associate of Obama ,was rewarded with a board membership.
Other earmarks included millions to Michelle Obama's employer with the implication that she has been well compensated.
Pork was also coralled for Rezko for favors done; this, needless to say, had nothing to do with his contributions to Obama's war chest.
Anyway, what I started to say is that Obama in the beginning spoke the good speak, looked good, stood tall and since no one knew anything about him.... was a very interesting candidate.
Now we know differently.
If the same people voted today, even with the press' biased opinions, Obama's record would look totally different!
It doesn't matter if Hillary wins or loses..... though I still think she's going to win>
Obama will never pass inspection when it comes to the general election!

HoosierSue: "Sorry, I didn't mean to leave out his bomber bud William Ayers. There are just so many negative associations with Obama, I can't keep track of them all. Oops! I forgot about Rezko. My bad."
You also forgot Todd Stroger who Obama endorsed in Illinois for President of the Cook County Board.

LOOKUP have you been sleeping? Where do you get the 1M? Their tax report says $4.2M. DO YOU READ PAPERS? LISTEN TO THE RADIO? HAVE A TELEVISION? His mother had a PhD (do you what that is?).
He went to the best schools in Hawaii. Whatever the Clintons have, they EARNED IIT.And, for your information, he IS NNOT BLACK. He is semi-racial. So why does he not say

Hillarys speeches are getting better! Anybody else notice that she lifted parts of her victory speech in WV from OBAMA?

When it comes to many white voters, Obama can't shake off the mantle off Rev. Wright and Michelle Obama. Had they been known about in January, he wouldn't have made it past Iowa. He will crash and burn in November if the Dems insist on pushing him forward.

So if its a mostly rural, white, hard-working state Obama just brushes them off?
And Obama supporters call the good people of WV and KY ignorant rednecks?
Well they have plenty of common sense and can spot a phony(on any color) from a mile away.
Obama is snooty, arrogant, and so full of himself. He chose a racist, anti-American church-then didn't have the backbone or decency to speak up or walk out for 20 years.
Every time Obama supporters trash Hillary and rural America the more votes Obama loses. Now that is pretty stupid.
Go Hillary/McCain...never Obama

Are there no blue-collar, white-working class people in Iowa, Maryland, Virginia, Vermont, Kansas, Washington, Delaware, and the 30+ states that Barack won?
Or, in these 30+ states that Barack won, are there only high-class, surburban people of leisure, college graduates and African-Americans?
And, is that what Someone wants us to believe — that in the 30+ states Barack has won, that there are no blue-collar, white-working class people in any of those states? I thought that white people were a majority in America, not a minority. I don't think we should allow ourselves to be Fooled Again!

Hillary needs to stay in the election long enough to hopefully recoup most of the $11MM she's already loaned her compaign. She'll stop once she has her money. Typical old school politician.

Rant and rave away Bomabots, he will never win the GE. We will not vote for the myth.
So many, many people are already sorry they voted for the phony.
They will not fall for the BS in the GE and the Repubs will make mince meat out of the Bomabots hit parade.
I doubt he can carry all his 57 STATES!

obama is at a loss without a teleprompter or a mentor close by. Although he has gotten better he is still learning Hillary's positions to paraphrase unscripted.
This guy has no record as a uniter. He has been given legislation to push thru in his name. His ethics are situational and he bought a house (where he still lives) with the most notorious political fixer in IL in 2005.
It's not over!!!!

Obama fell flat on his face tonight answering questions at the factory in Missouri. Obama rambled on and on boring them to death and he thru in some hmms and uhhs too. He quoted Hillary's proposals word for word. He did not connect to the Blue Collar workers period.

This entire political campaign has been about gender, age, race and media bias and very lttle to do with issues. Both Obama and Clinton have similar views on the primary issues of the war and economy. Senator Clinton has given more details on how she would solve the problems while Obama dances around calling for change. To me Obama means politics like the dirty South Chicago machine version will replace those in Washinton and socialism will replace moderate Democratic policies. This is not change for the better.
Yesterday talk radio stated that the Obama campaign had pledged $20 million to help out the superdelegates in the next election and that is why so many have jumped on the money wagon. Money corrupts. It has little to do with the most qualified candidate.

Melissa I agree completely with you. Obama is my 1st choice but I would definately vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. I would never vote republican because I don't agree with their policies. And to me it's about whose policies are better for this country. I choose not to send any more of our kids and all to a useless war that the republicans got us into. And there is no end in sight.

What is stupid is people who don't see the distinction between a pastor they may disagree with on minor issues and those who fail to see the gravity of the hatred Wright preached. Obama was loyal for decased so don't try to draw parallels -- there is a major divide in the gravity of the situations between Wright/Obama and other candidates affiliations with religious leaders. Wright was Obama's spiritual mentor. Sorry that some of you can't disambiguate the situations.

Melissa:
ONE THING I'VE NOTICED ABOUT YOU IS:
You never forward the conversation by introducing facts!
You've never shown any salient information about your beloved Barack which might give anyone an idea of how he would accomplish anything unique and wonderful for our beloved country.
You've never tapped in a credible. positive reason for anyone who is not yet in adoration of him... to change their belief that he's an empty suit whoon occasion .... his two "pastor speeches", for instance, can prove pretty two-faced even about people he supposedly cared about.
(I guess his typical white grandma would come under the two-faced topic too, since she had struggled to raise him and he threw her under the bus... first.)
All you ever seem to do is "diss" Hillary and tout B O.
hmmmmm

Melissa I'm very concerned about the Supreme Court as well. Plus I think McCain will reinstate the draft.

How can anyone call Hillary a hate monger after Obama vowed allegiance to Wright until he was afraid of the political repurcussions? I wont even get into the decades of support to the church and its message. Listen to the new pastor Moss --- it hasn't got any better.

LOUIS:
Does b o judge the intelligence of the voter on the basis of whether or not the respond favorably to HIS BS.... or only the basis of how the voter responds to Hillary's blurbs?
Are you saying that if people prefer Hillary they are woefully ignorant but that if they prefer his they are magnificently brilliant?
hmmmm
This woefully ignorant poster will continue to stick with Hillary ;- )
(B O is much too arrogant for stupid little me.)
