RFK Jr. Says No One Should Be Offended

May 23, 2008 10:23 PM

This evening Robert Kennedy Jr., who has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., cautioned folks not to be offended at Clinton's mention of his father's assassination when discussing why she was staying in the race and how there was precedent for the primaries lasting until June.

In a statement, Kennedy Jr. said: “It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.”

I guess Hillary and Bubba now know what it feels like to be in the liberal media's cross-hairs. We should make Hillary an honorary conservative.

Funny, only a few years back the Clintons were the darlings of the liberal media. Now they might as well be ultra conservatives.

The thing that brings a smile to my face is that my aunts who are liberal democrats have stated point blank to me they will vote against Husein Obama if he gets the nomination. I bet you there are a lot of democrats who feel that way.

On our side, thing's aren't much better. I sure as hell don't think McCain is worthy of being president.

If Hillary were to become President (fat chance), guess who will be running for her senate seat in NY?

That would be RFK, Jr.

The "spin" from the Obama campaign is predictable. After all they were the original source of the accusations of racism against the Clintons and their supporters.

They are the meanest and most effective marketing machine in recent history...but then you have to have a willing and corrupt media environment to thank for their success,

Believe it or not in a Democratic year this "mean" machine that constantly feeds these memos to the public that are at odds with their candidates public statements ...are creating an army of McCain voters.

Fanatic definition: A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause.
You Obama followers really scare me. Get a reality check will you?
It was not brought up by her anything about Obama, it was in your head, get it?
His own son, his namesake knew she meant anything can happen, why should you be offended if he isn't?

Who cares what RFK Jr. says, Obama is the one threatened.

DWC, your 12:21:40 PM post is a good one. I'd forgotten how the Obama camp shamelessly tried to use Dr. King's assassination to further their own cause when it suited them to do so. Thanks for reminding us.

I have never posted here, but even I am appalled by some of the things written. Senator Clinton wasn't talking about Senator Obama, she was only stating why she is staying in the race, how other contest have gone beyond June. And BTW - Robert Kennedy was behind in the delegate count back in 1968, by about 168 delegates, so he probably would have gone to the convention with less delegates, so he probably wouldn't have gotten to the nomination, yet he felt compelled to take the fight all the way to the convention and no one asked him to drop out.

The media is making too a big a deal over this comment because they want Hillary to drop out. Obama will not have enough pledged delegates to win the nomination by June 3rd. The superdelegates can say whatever they want, but they don't actually vote until the convention.

The reason that RFK Jr. support Hillary is because he is sane and his mind functions well not like those of fanatics who are overwhelmed with hateful remarks ready to pollute the world.

Before the BO campaign mention it, nobody thinks it is an offense. Thereafter, their fanatics beat up the hatred and venoms, the media follow with zest.

What a familiar scene. The same way that Bush ran his campaign against Kerry and Gore.

Obviously RFK,jr is enmeshed in the wicked web of Hellary. lol

Considering that Obama had to have the earliest ever security detail on account of KNOWN threats, the race baiting, gender baiting Clintons are INSENSITIVE at best!

I have just finished reading many of the posts to this article. I am shocked at her comments because the use of "assassination of Bobby Kennedy" and her husband in race until June as examples of reason why she is staying in race to June. This is not first time she has used assassination of Bobby Kennedy as reference to present race. Legal implied and suggestive reference is Barack Obama could be assassinated. Hilary is intelligent attorney and seasoned politician. Word usage is her profession. Remember Mike Huckabee made joke at gun show - "someone aiming gun at Barack Obama, he just fell off the chair." Now FBI will be on high alert. These comments could affect all of the candidates- the target Barack Obama, and Mike Huckabee and Hilary Clinton because of what they said. Supporters tell your candidate to stop. I don't care anymore if accidental or not. Words are out there. At least encourage prevention in in the future.

The Manchurian Candidate.

This is why Mccain will win, everything is turned into a slight to Obama. No one can say anything without it being turned in a racist thing.

She apologized to the Kennedys but not to Obama and his family. She and her supporters still don't get why her comments were thoughtless to say the least. She has run a campaign dedicated to maligning her opponent, a fellow democrat, to the point that I fear we democrats have lost the election. She will not be the nominee, but she does not want any other nominee to win. I have several friends who supported her at the beginning of this campaign. Most of them are now for Obama because of the divisive campaign she has run. You don't see Obama supporters leaving in droves to support Hillary though. I am a 60-year-old feminist (and proud of it) who does not identify with Hillary at all. She and Ferraro do not represent me. By the way, as far as I know, she was not intending to threaten Obama's life.

Bored,
Nothing to do with Esau and Jacob. Simple fact, Sen. Obama is simply the least qualified of the three, and he is the one running the divisive campaign by twisting words at every opportunity. The press is even more guilty of twisting words out of context however, particularly MSNBC. I refuse to even tune that station in anymore, mainly because of the Olberman and Matthews hate diatribes which seem to only be getting worse. I also wish Obama had honored his promise to the people of Illinois and at least served a full Senate term before running for President. Serving as a state legislator and 18 months of U.S. Senator has obviously not given him the experience or knowledge of issues as evidenced by his performances in the debates. Many of us just don't want another President who has to learn on the job in today's world. That said, I do respect everyone's opinion to support their own candidate on things that matter most to them (as long as it doesn't involve name calling.)

The obama people are ticked off because Hillary is continuing to win huge landslides

Posted by: brigitte | May 24, 2008 1:01:19 PM

So Obama can say things like "typical white people" among others and then say "but what I meant to say was..." and all is forgiven. And Michelle can asy, "This is the first time I am proud of America", but then later say, "what I meant to say was..." and we are all supposed to say oh, of course. But when Hillary Clinton makes an unfortunate statement she is burnt at the stake. Smacks of reverse discrimination to me. Count me among the former Democrats who will never cast a vote for Obama.

I can't believe the hysterical comments being made on this and other websites.
Senator Clinton was stating a historical fact not inciting murderous threats. I was 13 when RFK was murdered and even then I knew that this country would never be the same - that we had lost our hope for any future of the this country. Senator Clinton would have been a young adult during that time and that tragedy made such a strong impact on everyone's lives that we still see it today. We would not have had Richard Nixon and Watergate, Reagan and Iran/Contra and we certainly would not have had the tragedy of these last eight years.
On the other hand, when I read or hear the ignorant comments like these being made, I wonder what kind of country have we become and no wonder we were stuck with this current administration.
When Bill Clinton was President, he turned this country around despite the press, the Republicans, and Monica. If Hilary can just be half as good as he was this country has a chance. Obama doesn't have the life experience and the
contacts to know how to do this. Inspiration and intelligence are not the same things.

anyone see Olbermann last night. He has totally lost it foaming at the mouth he devoted 11 minutes ranting.

What really surprised me though is the he frequently quotes history. Yet, here he went off the deep end. MSNBC is more one-sided than even Fox who I imagine are getting alot more Democrat viewers.

I think he's turned alot of people off given that more than 17 million voted for Hillary already. I decided to boycott MSNBC and their sponsors.
