Still No Clinton Campaign Answer on Guam
May 03, 2008 3:57 PM
The Clinton campaign was pretty quick getting back to me after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., blasted how a lobbyist for Shell Oil defended Sen. Clinton's, D-N.Y., gas tax holiday proposal on CNN. ...
But seven hours later, still no response from them on what exactly Clinton meant when she promised the people of Guam full voting rights.
Do you think we'll ever get an answer? Are they sitting there in their campaign offices saying, "C'mon, Jake, you know she didn't really mean it. It's just one of those things politicians say!"
Or are they gathering the data on the constitutional fight she will wage to bring full representation to non-states?
- jpt
UPDATE: The answer was the latter -- they did get back to me. Check it out HERE.

Here's the deal: the race is over, period. Clinton folks don't want to believe this but do the math, and the math is the only thing that counts - all the way to the Convention. She can't catch him. He's ahead in delegates, number of states, POPULAR VOTE, and nothing is going to significantly change by June 3. She's simply in it for egoic reasons to prove to the world that she's some sort of "mega-fighter" so her senatorial time is still considered valid. It's the same thing Huckabee did. We don't need a "fighter-type", we need a "unifier-type". Fighting is an outdated reptilian-brained activity left over from the giant lizard age. Let's get on with fully supporting Obama in a big way so we can create the next evolutionary wave in getting our act together as a unified country.

oh yeah, this week's Obama word is "pandering"; I remember a short time back when it was "myogenist".... and it was pandered so much for a short period of time I thought I was living in a woman's cash register.
But here's something for you:
"The choice is simple: Senator Obama wants the American people to pay the gas tax this summer but Senator Clinton thinks Big Oil should.
The Clinton gas tax holiday is financed exclusively through a tax on windfall profits from oil companies and keeps the Highway Transportation Trust fund intact. Hillary opposed a plan in 2000 for a gas tax holiday because it was financed with transportation funds.
Sen. Obama voted three times for a gas tax holiday in 2000 when gas prices were less than $2 a gallon."
How quickly we forget.
A vote for B O is a vote for chanCe;
A vote for HIllary is a vote for

Why don't we recount EVERY state Senator Obama won?
As Hillary said "He Can't Win".
It's really pathetic that she couldn't "close the deal"...
Posted by: s_ben | May 4, 2008 12:08:45 AM
There will be a recount! :)
For those of you who are not very familiar with elections, when the difference in votes in so small in percentage. In this case, less than 1% ..., there is always a revote.
Good night. :) and Hillary 08!

The gas tax holiday isn't enough! I want CANDY! When will Hillary promise me CANDY???
Posted by: Demetrius | May 3, 2008 11:57:59 PM
"A win is a win" says Hillary when she wins by the skin of her teeth in a state she's expected to win by big numbers....but when Barack wins in any state by any percentage, she just says. "he was expected to win there" or "I cut into his lead." Guam is ANOTHER win for Barack like it or not.
"Clintonspeak" started with Monica and hasn't stopped since.

Everyone has forgotten about Health Insurance and the war in Iraq. the big news of the week has been about suspending the gas tax... for the summer . It's called HUSH money and designed to keep you quiet for at least a couple of months. At first I was concerned that perhaps there were a lot of Hillary supporters blogging.... then I remembered Lush Rhimbaugh and his operation..... It seems to me that the Republicans are going out of their way to get Hillary nominated, because they believe she would be the BEST opponent against McCain. That would be great ..... getting to pick your own opponent. That's what they do in wrestling... isn't it ?

Barack Obama's Immediate Gas Price Relief Options for Bush to Implement in this EMERGENCY!
Bush is the only one who can help Americans in a practical way.
1. Release oil from the Petroleum Reserve, or stop saving more oil for now!
This Petroleum Strategy of gradual releasing oil into the market will have the effect of increasing supplies and lowering prices.
2. President Bush can call on Oil executives to DO THEIR PATRIOTIC DUTIES in this moment of national need (much like our people in Iraq are doing).
If our people in Iraq can surrender lives, limbs and mental health for the good of the nation in need, then surely the oil executives can SURRENDER SOME PROFITS. And keep gas prices down for the working Americans and small business who are heavily dependent on reasonable gas prices.
3. If so many Americans are hurting while some companies are making exorbitant profits, then the nation does not have a situation of SHARED PAIN in this moment of crisis! And that is bad!
IT IS UNPATRIOTIC of the oil company executives.
For think about it, fellow Americans, if the oil companies were in a bind, THE AMERICAN TAX PAYERS WOULD HAVE BAILED OUT THOSE COMPANIES.
So this is the time for oil executive PATRIOTS to step up to the plate and SHARE THE PAIN in the same way that they share the joys of America!
Pandering to voters and preying on their distress at a serious time of need will solve nothing!
And the gas tax gimmick is disgusting.
Presidential candidates have no power to impact gas prices at the moment.
ONLY BUSH CAN IMPACT GAS PRICES NOW! AND HE WILL NOT! BUSH DOES NOT CARE!

Can anyone please explain this story about Peter Paul Vs Hillary Clinton? It's on the blogs now. It's about stuff on fraud and campaign finance against Hillary. Who is Peter Paul? Why is no one talking about this? Isn’t this a serious issue in a general election? This has been described as the campaign finance scandal of the new millennium and no one wants to discuss it. Does America not deserve better? I leave it to you guys to decide.

They didn't get back to you because they're too busy working on even more pandering soundbites.
Posted by: Tom J | May 3, 2008 5:33:13 PM
HRC is uninspiring to Democrats, she is so unlikable. It would be easy to vote against HRC in a general election. Now, add in the dishonesty factor, the lies about sniper fire in Bosnia (that would be exploited and linked to disrespect for U.S. soldiers) and you have a big win for McCain in Nov. If you want the war in Iraq to end, if you want the economy to improve, if you want a president that upholds the constitution...then Barack is your candidate. He cares about seniors, education for young people, and giving our veterans the resources and the respect that they deserve. I am looking forward to an Obama Administration. Our country will once again be a world leader and a peaceful nation. Obama '08 Yes we can!

The ONLY American politician who can impact gas prices RIGHT NOW is BUSH; and he will not; because Bush DOES CANNOT CARE about the plight of ordinary Americans!
No candidate for Presidency can impact gas tax now!
So McCain & Hilary is just pandering!
Hilary is just playing politics as usual'!
Bush can tap into the OIL RESERVE; since we do have an emergency.
And Bush can appeal to his oil buddies to ROLL BACK GAS PRICES as a PATRIOTIC DUTY!
The Special Interest Congress WILL NEVER pass a windfall tax.
And the BUSH WILL NEVER SIGN a windfall tax on oil executives!
Now is the time for the PRUDENT Presidential candidate to AGAIN remind Americans to CONSERVE, and of the NEED FOR AN EFFECTIVE ENERGY POLICY!
SUPPLY OF OIL IS LOW!
So prices WILL go up even more if we do not conserve!

Senator Obama plays the average voter for a fool and unfortunately, he is right. He will say and do anything to get their support and it is working on stupid people.
Do you really want someone who is flattered that a terrorist group supports him to be your next president. Who would he shoot at in case of another war?

Getahun Leta, You keep posting what semms to be Clinton campaign newsletters? As an Independent voter I would like to ask you some questions:
Why should I vote for someone who I simply have no faith in telling me the truth?
Why would I trust anyone who would turn on their friends in a heartbeat to further their political objective?
Why would I trust someone who has adopted the campaign tactics of the Republican right-wing conspiracy that was supposedly was used to persecute them?
Why should I trust that someone immersed in the dirty politics that exist today will change the politcal dialogue in Washington?
Why would I vote for someone who as first lady with her husband was involved in scandal after scandal before and during her husband's term?
Why should I believe that she and her husband have now changed and I should put my trust in them by voting for them?
Why should I believe that the Clintons are concerned about American workers when it was their policies that began shipping jobs overseas and importing foreign workers to take American jobs?
And just so you know....I voted for Bill 1992 and 1996. However, there is a saying that goes "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". Convince me as to why I should be a fool a third time. And don't just give me standard campaign rhetoric that is so meaningless. And don't start telling me about experience and how Obama is also untrustworthy. I want to know why I should vote for Hillary not why I should vote against someone else.

Hillary is running for "panderer in chief" that's why.

Gee..lets see..Obama gets 100 more votes in Guam , an island who will NOT elect the President and Obama-ites are jazzed?? EDUCATION status was on the island? Obama is Black when it suits him; white when he collects rich peoples' money and an ISLAND BOY when it benefits HIM!
Come on , here in NM our stuper-dumb delegates Richardson and Binagaman have stated "1709 more votes was NOT a win for Clinton". Looks like both of these
NM politicians are DONE with their careers!

Hill the Bosnian General has lost and she should do the honorable thing, say goodbye. She has become crazzy and does not think about what she is saying: obliterate Iran, gaz-tax holidays, Gwam voting right, etc. She is unelectable and does not think properly. May God save America from Hill and her friends McCain and FoxNews. God bless America dn God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Susan, Yes WE can "WE".
The Republicans are hoping that Hillary wins.
Then will bring out the garabage, on a plate to the sheep of America.
They will eat it up, and vote for McCain.
Another four (4) years of Republican RULE.
The question is are the dummies better off now than before the Republican Party took over the House, Senate, Executive Branch, Judicial Branch??
I will answer it for you,, lost of jobs, lost of homes, lost of civil rights.
YES "WE" CAN
Posted by: American9 | May 3, 2008 4:47:06 PM
Well lets face it when you lie, but tell them what they want to hear, it works.
It's always what is in it for me. There is no concern for the future, it's what is now. Bread and butter issues they call it.
We drive the largest gas using vehicles in the world. Our houses have become small mansions. We are over weight, under exercised, and spoiled, and yet we worry about an 18 cent tax on gas.
I tell you some people sell them selves short and cheap.
Posted by: Thinking | May 3, 2008 4:41:59 PM
Michael, The problem with what you said is that Clintons proposals are just words as well. They mean nothing to me because I do not trust her or her husband ever to be straight and honest with the American people. That is why it does matter to me what she proposes. She is simply pandering....BTW, she is in the Senate...why not, simply author a bill on some these proposals and bring it before Congress now. She won't because she really has no intent in following through on those proposals as they are now presented in this campaign.
Posted by: indy_voter | May 3, 2008 4:38:16 PM
ortega,
nothing is childs play when it comes to the resko case, the scary thing about all of this is by the time they get to the truth about obama-he maybe president.
the press has let the voters of america down. but they will always have their story and be able to put their kids through college, and have healthcare.
while we are all talking about scandals and things that will do nothing for us.
do you know they have a loophole program at these big colleges (where the news reporters are able to pay for their kids to go to school) where they have found a way to exclude the working class children. sen. clinton is trying to change that.
so why are you trying to silence the only real voice the working class people have?
you must be one of the well off.

Come on people, get real.
Clinton has real solutions and ideas to fix the energy crisis, and gas prices. All Obama has done has said oh that won't work that is political pandering. Well guess what where is your idea then?
You are always saying Cliton is negative, Clinton is like Karl Rove, well then stop attacking her ideas, and come up with some of your own.
Please someone on this thread respond and tell me what Obama's plan is on getting gas prices down besides the other steps that Senator Clinton has already outlined.
He is playing politics with people's money and that is not right.
I want to hear from him what he will do, instead of saying Clinton is trying to get votes. I don't care about that I care about having money in my pocket so I can afford to eat.
This makes me so mad, that he is going around all of these towns and saying Hillary's plan is calculated and political, but then has no plan of his own.
COME ON OBAMA, YOU ARE JUST WORDS AGAIN.
GO Hillary 08
Posted by: Michael | May 3, 2008 4:25:19 PM
obama brought all of his current problems down on himself. because of his poor judgement.
sen. clinton is smarter than he is
and she understands better how to correct the wrongs in this country.
obama is a bought and paid for candidate.
and we the american voters are the ones who will come up short...on change.

Obama has taken tiny Guam. You notice nobody will call it after 85% showing Obama won by 54 to 46 or an 8 point spread.
You hear people saying that Obama voted for a gas tax suspension which is true. He also voted to have it put back after studies showed none of the money ever reached the consumer. Clinton knows very well her "plan" is a pander.
Obama has my vote.

Hey dummy, the people of Guam are U.S. citizens, not "nationals", so you might want to correct your blog item below.
Also, I can't tell what kind of super-clever point you think you are scoring here. Of course it would take major constitutional changes. Of course it isn't going to happen. That doesn't mean that you, me, or Hillary Clinton can't favor it happening. That doesn't mean you can trap Hillary in some kind of "gotcha" like you're so obviously trying to do.
By the way, did you know that the President plays no role in the constitutional amendment process? Given that you didn't know Guamanians are U.S. citizens, probably not...

You might be waiting a heck of a long time.
And, heck, they still didn't give an answer to the gas price lobbyist question. The fact is they brought out a guy to answer a question that is a lobbyist for the oil companies! Pointing to other folks on the sidelines in the other campaigns, doesn't really answer the question, does it???
Hmmm...
Hope you have something to do while you're waiting for your answers!!! Soduku puzzles are fun for some people! Probably not for Clintonistas, though, since they seem to be math challenged!!!

Jake, If she said it then you should press her on it. While campaign promises are made all the time (pandering) they are broken because the media does not the press the issues since they are too busy moving onto the next topic...So, by all means ask them again what she meant and don't allow them to get off by sayings "you know she didn't really mean it. It's just one of those things politicians say!" I think Hillary has been let off the hook way too much on her pandering....btw, press her campaign on the gas "holiday" as well and ask how a savings of 30 cents a day is meaningful policy to average Americans...And oh by the way....if it is crucial ask whether she will author the bill a.s.a.p and submit it to Congress...After all summer is only a month away....
