Obama Declares Michelle Off-Limits
May 19, 2008 9:43 AM
On Good Morning America today, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, took issue with a Tennessee Republican Party attack on his wife Michelle for her February comments that "for the first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of this country."
The Tennessee GOP launched a web video making much hay out of those comments, suggesting she is unpatriotic.
"The GOP -- should I be the nominee -- I think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama told Robin Roberts. (Watch HERE) "If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable. The notion that you start attacking my wife? Or my family? Michelle is the most honest, the best person I know. She is one of the most caring people I know. She loves this country. For them to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class and I think most of the American people would think that as well."
He also said, "these folks should lay off my wife."
For her part, Michelle Obama denied reports that she did not want Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, to serve as her husband's vice president.
"I think the world of Hillary Clinton," Michelle Obama said. "Particularly, as a woman, having watched her go through a lot of what I might be going through, and doing it with a level of grace, and raising a phenomenal daughter, which -- I have two girls -- and I know how hard just in the little bit of exposure I've had to this what she's had to deal with, and what she's accomplished. So that being said, you know, there is no way that I would say absolutely no to one of the most successful and powerful and groundbreaking women on this planet. What I have said is that I think one of the things that the nominee has earned is the right to pick the vice president that they think will suit them... I think this should be Barack's say, through and through."

Here I am, checking the news over lunch and finding this list of comments that exceeds the article by several times over, most posted in the middle of the day. Doesn't anyone work in the US anymore?

While the BO fanatics can hit Bill and Chelsea, why is Michelle so privileged. Is it another case of reverse discrimination.
Are they going to flash the race card again with this Black Elites.

Another non-political double standard from the Obama campaign.

Michelle's problem was that she failed to try an one-up and out-american other citizens. She's been in politics long enough to know that we americans frown on anything but flag waving and speaking insincere political drivel.

i wonder what obama is going to do if they don't heed to his "my wife is off limits"
what will he do the next time?

Geez, OBAMA is complaining now that they are going after his WIFE..HE should be worrying when they come after
HIM..In politics, everything is fair game. Wait until all the negatives that OBAMA and his WIFE were associated and involved with come flying all corners of the United States..I wonder if DNC and all the GOOD 'OLE boys in Washington accept the fact they put the wrong man to represent them in General Election.. They made a mistake TWICE in a row and now OBAMA again.

When I heard Michele Obama say, "If you
can't keep care of your house, how
do you expect to take care of the
White House?" (paraphrasing, regarding
Hillary), THAT was it for me on this
woman for America's lst Lady. She is
no Laura Bush, and I am a Democrat.
Her mouth and chip on her shoulder is
not honorable for a lst Lady. I think
she is pushing power over her husband, and
with all who they associate with, their
conduct appears shady. What a shame.

People should leave his sweetie alone! LOL. Well, the Repubs did the same to Hillary when Bill ran. A lot of the so called "divisiveness" that younger folks today associate with the Clintons merely resulted from Repub. theatrics. In a few more years, younger people will probably think Michelle and Barry are absolutely evil. All the material is there - Wright, Ayers, flagpins, "proud," Rezko....this stuff will keep going forever. And if he's elected, even more and more and more will keep getting churned out.

LA. indiana
I remembered the projection of hatred thrown out by BO supporters as the primary season started. I remembered all the vocabulary used. And I read an article "As Hillary Runs, some Old Foes are on the Side lines" (NY Times) in which I learned about the anti-Clinton launched by the republicans as early as Iowa. I realised that BO and his supporters used the same language and arguments.
That explains why people are so fed up with BO, along with the media bias. This is real. I am sure the republicans study all of this to use it, but the DNC is not very clean neither, the way Dean tried to push HC out. Of course the republicans play dirty, but the Dems should never have used their game in this primary election. What about the idealism proned by BO?
No one expect nice stuff from the republican tactics but from the left wing of the Democrat party, that's pretty ugly. For instance I read to-day an article and learned that Edwards had sided with BO from the beginning. They are the same side. That's fine but it looks like all of them down on HC, the DNC and left wing, the media, the sexist and even the blacks calling the Clintons racist. That's insane. Just let the campaign unfold the way it goes, and the voters can have their say and then if HC is to loose, she will bow out gracefully. But it has always been negative projections : oh she is this she is that, what have you. Give it a break.

The question that I have, is where were Michelle Obama's hands during the interview?
I'm thinking that she had one of them firmly gripping her husband's "set".
His voice seemed a little higher than usual.

From "I want to rip his [Bill Clinton's] eyes out" to America being "a downright mean," this Michelle is no lady, and should not be the First Lady. Moreover, she likes to interrupt Barack, who in turn has to ask for permission to "interject." Makes me wonder who wears the pants in their household. Why is Barack married to this termagant?

I think that the Republican Party, in attacking Senator Obama's wife, Michelle, have stepped into a political trap of their own making. Michelle Obama isn't seeking the Presidency, as Mrs. McCain is also not running for office. Neither of those, if they get to be First Lady, will be in the line of succession to become President if something were to happen to their husbands. So neither is perceived as fair game by most people trying to determine who to vote for this November.

We can't talk about his wife.
We can't talk about his mother.
We can't talk about his grandmother unless he does, and brings her up as a "typical white person."
We can't talk about his father,
can't talk about his preacher,
can't talk about his terrorist friends, c
an't talk about his voting record,
can't talk about his religion.
We can't talk about appeasement.
We can't talk about color; we can't talk about lack of color.
We can't talk about race.
We can't talk about bombers and mobsters who are his friends.
We can't talk about schooling.
We can't talk about his name, "Hussein."
We can't talk about his lack of experience.

If Michelle wants to campaign and talk trash as she has about Hillary, then she is fair game. Besides, it's not unprovoked as is usually the case, she brought it on herself. Who cares what Barak declares, his words like his promise of change, mean nothing. Seriously, who does he think he is. It all comes with the territory, he needs to get over himself. The attacks have been very mild thus far. Go get 'em McCain. Hillary Supporter for McCain '08

Let's forget for one moment that I find his comment a bit sexist. Michelle, from what I've always seen, has NO problems defending HERself! That aside I simply can NOT believe someone running for President believes the press (or the Republicans) aren't going to frequently consider - and yes, even attack! - his family. It is simply unrealistic! I love his message of hope. I TRULY do! But he's gotta get his head out of the clouds! I've not voting for a person to create our utopia.....and I already have a Messiah in my life (thank you very much).....I'm just voting for a President here. At this point...I'm sticking hard with Hillary!

You know when people asked Chelsea about her parents and how they handled marriage difficulties, I said that was fair game as long as Chelsea was campaigning for her mom.
If Michelle Obama is to be off limits, she must quit campaigning, it's as simple as that.

Ah now, Barry, come on. Do you think America is going to be upset that your wife is a total racist and anti-American?
:D
Barack Obama is such a whiner.

Jake, you have some serious arm chair opinion leaders here.
Do you check their facts?

len, since he never has suggested talking to Hamas without preconditions, your own comments are at least suspect.
